Okay this place confirms that I need a Balmuda toaster. At first I was skeptical why people are paying $10 for toast and wow this stuff was amazing. We had the Berry and Cream Cheese toast and Mentai Mayo toast. The toast was crunchy on the outside and soft inside - perfect texture. The flavor of the toast were good and having both savory and sweet was a good balance. It was a boozy brunch and we ordered a couple of drinks. I had the Dark Angel which was soju and espresso. It barely tasted like alcohol, but careful ut does have a slow creep. A very yummy and creamy coffee treat that I highly recommend. The Samurai Mojito and Milky Ruby were refreshing, you really can't have a bad drink here. read more

I was actually looking forward to this given how cute the place looks and how long the line was, so I was unfortunately disappointed that I didn't like any of the food we got :( The katsu don was an immediate fail just looking at how cooked the eggs were, and the chicken katsu was too moist as well. As for the toasts, it might just be me but I don't think cream cheese and sesame go very well together :/ Nothing too special to say about it. Heard very good things about Davelle but I can't say I was wowed by my visit. The wait was 35 minutes, not too bad for a Saturday visit at around 12pm. Your whole party does have to be here to be added to the waitlist and I would think, the bigger the party, the longer the wait times. Davelle has very limited seating where more than half the seats are on the sidewalk. Not my cup of tea to sit by ongoing passerbyers and apt dumpsters so we asked for indoor seating preference. Now on to the food. We ordered three items to share between two people, which is a good amount of food considering the portions aren't huge. The Mentai Pasta is advertised as spicy but was far from it and was also dry. It lacked a creamier sauce that I expected from pictures online. The Uni Pasta was on the salty side but had more flavor and sauce than the Mentai Pasta. It was definitely our favorite of the two. As for the black sesame toast, it was good but not amazing. Tastes how you would expect. Overall, all the dishes were a bit too expensive for what was delivered. Ogura toast ($10) - this is red bean flavored with a piece of butter on top. Pretty good, just tastes like red bean. Berry toast ($10) - this was probably my favorite toast (we also got honey and lemon). The cheese on top was super creamy so make sure to get both jam and cheese in your bite. Also super aesthetic. Matcha latte ($5.50) - came at the perfect sweetness level for me without specifying. They definitely added simple syrup to it so probably ask if you don't want it sweetened. Came in a plastic cup so you can take it to go afterwards if needed. Karage curry ($19) - this came with about 3 pieces of chicken karage, which were super juicy. I thought it was maybe sightly uncooked since it was very soft inside. There wasn't as much curry, but a ton of rice. Overall, a little pricy for what you get. As others have mentioned, this is a small restaurant, so come alone or in a small group. The servers were really friendly and helpful when it came to navigating the menu. They have a really great selection of sakes, sweet, dry, sparkling, etc. We tried two on the drier side and they were both crisp and delicious. For food we ordered: - The pickles - Cheese and potato croquettes - Shrimp - Chicken katsu curry - Uni tomato spaghetti Everything was delicious, but I would say that the shrimp, the katsu, and the uni tomato spaghetti were the stars to me. I'm usually skeptical of uni dishes, but the uni spaghetti was so creamy and tasted so fresh with the tomatoes on top. I really loved this. When it came to the karage, we initially ordered it without the curry sauce, but in a mixup, that's what was served to us. This was a great mixup because the curry sauce was so good! And the shrimp are so crispy and salty. We saved room for dessert and got the custard with strawberry and the parfait. The parfait was very good and featured two different types of ice cream. The hand drawn and quaint menu reminds me of cafes in Japan. I love this little eatery. During COVID times there's two tables inside (can seat a max of 5-6 people inside total) and a few seats outside. The staff is so nice and helpful and the portion sizes are perfect for lunch. We had the uni pasta and it was light and flavorful with lemon squeezed on top. My partner had the pork cutlet and it was also very tasty. I also got the red bean latte and it was very milky and sweet. Good, but rich. We tried a few of their toasts and while tasty, not sure I could tell anything was that special. My friends and I decided to come here for a light brunch after seeing their toasts on IG, and happy to say this place is high up on my list now! I'm OBSESSED with this place wow. This is a small Japanese cafe that serves toast, chicken, and the best drinks (matcha, coffee, and teas). Photogenic and picturesque with the cutest presentation-- but more importantly everything tasted just as good as it looked. Came with friends on a weekend for lunch and we had to wait around 45 minutes for a table to open. The space inside is pretty small with limited seats indoors and outdoors. Be sure to come earlier or be prepared to wait if you come on a weekend since they are quite busy! Staff and service are very kind and accommodating here though and that's always a plus! I had my hesitations about paying $9 for a slice of pretty toast... I didn't expect too much from the drinks and food here since it's unfortunately common for photogenic dishes at restaurants to be more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes than they are satisfying to the palate. The Ogura (red bean) toast was amazing with a thick layer of semi-sweet red bean paste on soft thick milk bread, garnished with little floral butter cut outs. The red bean paste paired perfectly with the soft bread to create a creamy flavor that wasn't too sweet, reminiscent of baked red bean buns at asian bakeries. I LOVED this hehe. Very unique and I'm a huge fan of red bean so I couldn't get enough of this one. The Berry and Cream Cheese toast was so pretty and presented in such a great way with the alternating pattern of spreads. The tartness of the jam paired with the creaminess tasted decadent and balanced. We also ordered the bento box with rice, salad, and their chicken karaage. Super juicy and crunchy! I also liked the addition of ume (sour Japanese plum) to the rice. Everything was so flavorful and paired well together. The drinks here are SO good. Their Matcha tastes strong and well prepared. Loved their Matcha Americano and matcha lattes! They also make an EXCELLENT Hojicha Latte-- so creamy, strong, and smooth. They also have a Sesame Kinako latte that they were sold out of when we visited but I would want to come back to try! My favorite drink that I tried though was the OGURA (RED BEAN) LATTE!!! I subbed for soy milk and the taste of the sweet red bean paired so well with the non-dairy milk. So creamy and just the right amount of sweet. The katsu was pretty awesome because it was made with thigh meat as opposed to the normal breast meat; very juicy! The curry was also great and very full of flavor. I loved the small red pickles which accented the meal in an amazing way. The portions of rice could be bigger tho, not enough for Americans but very Japanese lol. The karaage was tasty and juicy. From sweet to savory, they've got it all. In the savory, you can go for something as light as a pork on a bed of greens or something hearty like pork katsu. For sweets, don't skip the toasts! I had my doubts about a thiccc piece of bread with minimal topping but it was well worth the order. The bread is simply amazing, with a crusty edges and incredibly soft and fluffy innards. You probably can't go wrong with any of the flavors but we got the red bean which was subtle and delicate. The only note I'd make is slightly small portion size and misses in detail - like the salad in my bento that had no dressing and was hard to eat but maybe I'm just needy??
