I had an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE experience with Dave Friedlander of Dave's Floor and More. It was one of the worst interactions I have had with another person in my entire life. I hired Dave to complete a straightforward renovation of an unoccupied, mostly-empty, one-bedroom condominium. It felt like a slow-moving train wreck that lasted for four months. I made a serious mistake by hiring Dave's Floor and More. I compounded it by giving Dave grace - and a second chance - when things went wrong pretty much straight out of the gate. The gesture was not reciprocated. I should have heeded the red flags and fired Dave's Floor and More immediately. I have thousands of dollars in additional costs needed to rectify issues that occurred during this reno. Dave states that he stands by his work. He did stand by some of his work. However, I am holding the bag for the rest of it. I don't think that qualifies as "standing by your work." I reached out to Dave numerous times, in multiple ways, for him to somehow make good on this mess. I gave him plenty of time and plenty of latitude to resolve things. Dave has not done so to any satisfactory degree - not even close. Based on my experience with him, it seems to me that Dave Friedlander of Dave's Floor and More simply does not care about harm to another person's property and finances. They did an amazing job on my white oak floors, completed the job ahead of schedule and did so after seeing some bad issues that could've resulted in having to replace the flooring, and were happy to come and touch up some small minor blemishes. Exceeded all of my expectations! Dave's Floor and More was referred to me and after meeting with Dave, I hired them to paint my 2100 square-foot condo, install new carpet, replace my kitchen countertops, and do a variety of smaller jobs such as replace light fixtures throughout the house. His crew worked hard every day and I cannot believe how incredible all of this work looks. I admit I was hesitant at first, because I have not done this large scale of a remodeling job before, but Dave made this as stress-free as possible. This was a significant remodel and we had AMPLE opportunity to see Dave's team in action. They are reasonably priced, responsive, professional, timely and smart. They made numerous recommendations that improved the outcome of our project(s) Throughout, they were reasonable and asked timely questions to make our project go better. It's not often you can walk away from a significant project likes ours and say you consider the contractor a friend - but that is the case. Workers showed up in masks to help me with my flooding emergency. They responded quickly, and took great care of my house, mitigating as much water damage as possible. Dave and his crew are wonderful! I have had several home improvement projects completed by Dave's Floor and More including my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. I am currently in the cue to get the master bath done. Everyone is professional and very pleasant. The workers are skilled, hard-working, trustworthy, and diligent and clean up the area after each workday. Dave has great ideas if you do not have an actual "vision" of the space (that is my case) and is very concerned that the customer is satisfied and that the job is done correctly! The timelines for the work are reasonable and never way off. I have been VERY pleased with all work. I would not continue to seek the company's services if I were not. I got new carpet in my condo and Dave and his team were wonderful, the price I was quoted was the price I paid. His guy showed up promptly and were very professional. They started around 9 or so and had completed a 2 bedroom condo around 4 or 5. They found some money I had misplaced and they put it on the counter for me, I thought I lost it. Hired Dave's Floor & More for drywall repair on my historic MCM home. Results were disasterous; a complete waste of time and hard-earned money. Dave's unsupervised, LEP workers barely protected my furniture or floors, damaged several furniture pieces, left dust and drywall paste everywhere, dumped construction and food waste in my yard, and left me with unpresentable results. Have to now hire a second vendor to fix the mess. Background: Went through two in-person consults about the job with Dave in May and October 2018. Came away feeling confident the job would be done well and at a reasonable price. Was told it would take one week, but that I didn't need to be home. Scheduled the project for the week of November 2018 and put down a 50% deposit. Little did I know the job would be outsourced and that none of the communication we had would be thoroughly passed onto the subcontractor. Examples of the dysfunction: 1. Four-hour delayed arrival time on day 1. 2. Workers arrived unfamiliar with what they would be doing and didn't seem to understand instruction to start with specific rooms. 3. Little care was taken to protect my walls, wood trim, floors and furniture from dust, paste, ladder dings and primer. 4. Not enough supplies were brought to insulate a ceiling and protect my furniture. 5. Fiberglass insulation was left outside in the rain for two nights and then dragged through my yard, spreading clumps of fiberglass everywhere! 6. Construction debris and food left in my yard. 7. Repaired drywall not properly skim coated. 8. Dave expecting me to supervise his guys by updating him by phone on what the guys doing every minute. 9. Not getting a receipt for a second deposit made prior to the work being done. 10. Being lied to by Dave that the workers were guys he has "worked with for years," yet Dave later admitted one was "new." 11. Primer stains left on floors, walks, furniture. Go with another company that specializes in drywall repair, that will guarantee experienced and English-speaking supervisors on site, and will treat your home and property with respect. I don't write many yelp reviews but I really wanted to make sure Dave and his team got credit for the outstanding job they did on our home this winter. We had a very large and complex job that started with a few patches of leaking water from an unknown source and ended up being a series of significant projects, from plumbing repair; to drywall and replastering; to painting and baseboard repair; and more. As a former interior decorator born and bred in DC I was particularly struck by Dave's utter lack of BS! He is just an honest, straightforward, hardworking guy who doesn't oversell himself or overpromise. This job required a lot of diagnostic work and creative solutions because the deeper they dig into the walls (to find the source of all the damage) the more they learned. Dave figured out the location of the cracked pipes but also identified some structural issues with a few walls that had been damaged by a century's worth of rain and humidity. He was great at helping me decide which areas could be left as is and which areas needed immediate repairing and drywall/plastic. I appreciated how Dave would walk me through the areas that needed work and show me firsthand what he was talking about. One of Dave's subcontracted Plumbers was a bit messy but Dave was very apologetic and came over himself to clean up the mess. The price was fair and they worked really hard and had the job done on time, even though the tasks kept growing! Dave is a really smart, solid guy who works his tail off and is honest and fair. I will be using him again! Dave and his entire team were great - professional and responsive (all wore masks) and were not disruptive at all. We had a basement finished (to include adding a full bath) and there was a LOT of work involved in the process. We could not be more pleased with the results. Although the craftsman that removed the popcorn ceiling did a fantastic job, the painting staff was horrible. Painters broke a light fixture, they painted over wallpaper that was supposed to be removed. Prep work before painting was sporadic. Holes left in walls. We had to have them come back to correct these issues. We had to search on the internet for the replacement glass for the light fixture. We will never have them back for any work. We contracted to have spare paint left for touch up. Not all colors were left. Dave cut a hole in the drywall and never repaired it. We asked his son several times for a small piece of drywall to repair the hole. Drywall was never given to us. We had to acquire it ourselves. read more

I got a written quote from Dave's Floor & More, but when I asked about how much it would be to add some work, the price went up so much that I said "no thanks, let's just do the work from the original quote". We went back and forth for weeks but I was not able to get a straight response from them about whether or not our original quote would still be honored. Instead, they would respond saying they needed to get my credit card information so they could start the work. After about 3 weeks, turns out, he would not honor the original quote. He said that the original quote was a mistake and that our new price was going to be more than triple what was originally stated to do the exact same job. Why this wasn't stated from the very beginning, I don't know, but it was shiesty and, at the very least, unprofessional. read more

Dave has installed floors for us many times - carpet, vinyl plank and hardwood. Last week, he refinished the wood floors on one level of our house and installed new pre-finished hardwood on the other level. His quality is superb while his prices are low. His team was very professional - always on time and courteous. There was almost no dust when we returned and everything looked spectacular. I highly recommend them for floors and other type of remodeling. read more
