If you're looking for the best price for poor quality, you've come to the right place. Was told they could stain hardwood floors for our stairs at a 90% match to our laminate flooring. First results were 20% match if that, don't know, too hard to calculate that low. They threw a fit when we demanded they redo them. After second attempt, the poor sanding job was 100% visible as if these hardwood steps had been used and scuffed for 50 years. Sure they finally got the color up to 60% match (still wrong), but here I am left with cheaper pricing on flooring that looks as if it needs to be restored from generations of use. Pay a slightly higher price and go somewhere else. Oh, and I'll remove this review if you come fix the horrendous stain work. Until then, this review stays. read more

I HIGHLY recommend Jason and Star Floor, Inc. I have interacted with Jason on two occasions - once for a quote to install hardwoods on a house that we ended up selling so we decided not to go forward with that project. However, I can say from that experience that Jason showed up quickly to give an estimate, his quote was done on site and was very competitive. He was also very easy to work with. I later found out three of my neighbors had used him and were very happy with the results. When we moved into our new home I immediately called Jason again to install hard woods. This time we did go forward with the project and the results are great! He was VERY easy to work with. Very knowledgeable about our flooring options (we were matching new hardwoods to existing ones and a portion had to be installed on a slab). Wilmer (the guy leading the staining portion of the project) was sooo patient and helpful in trying to find the right stain combination to match existing floors. I just had the benefit of having my living room floor replaced by Jason Lee and his colleague at Star Floor Inc. I found out about Star Floor through the Home Advisor website. Star Floor was one of several contractor companies recommended by Home Advisor. Jason Lee, the owner contacted me within a day of my request through the home advisor website. He was immediately friendly, professional, and accommodating. Initally I had some scheduling conflicts when trying to arrange the in home estimate, but Jason remained very flexible and even accommodated my need for a late evening appointment! This was my first time ever having any work done in my home so naturally I was a very nervous Nelly! I had no idea what was a reasonable estimate, what to expect in terms of how the project would be completed, how long it would take, what materials would be used , etc . I had only heard horror stories about contractors gone wrong . But after my first conversation with Jason , I didn't feel that sense of fear. Jason was matter of fact and honest. He brought samples of the flooring and explained the pricing, and what was included in the price, and what they would be doing step by step from beginning to end. This was just the information I needed to do some more research about the floor remodeling process so I would know what kind of questions to ask before finalizing the deal. I got estimates from three other contractors who quoted me a price but then had all of these potential extra charges things like quarter round moving furniture baseboards leveling etc etc. so when I next spoke to Jason, I came up with every possible what-if situation I could think of and asked Jason if any of those things were encountered, if that would affect the estimate he had quoted me . I made several calls to Jason with these scenarios and each time he calmly stated that the price he quoted would not change. he never appeared agitated or annoyed by my first timer questions. He assured me that if they started the job, they would finish the job to completion and regardless the estimate would remain the same . But my first-timer jitters got the better of me again and I once again became nervous about our initial plan for handling the floor ( blame it on too much internet research on houses built in the sixties) so I called Jason to come back over for a third time to devise a new plan which involved simply leveling out the old floor and laying the new floor on top of it . This did change the estimate ...the new estimate was $800 LESS than the initial quote and Jason said it would be done completely in one day! I would not have believed it if it didn't just happen! Jason and his colleague promptly showed up at 8 AM this morning and as they said they would , carefully began moving my furniture around so they could complete the job . They assured me that my furniture would all be put back exactly as it was found and that they would clean up completely behind themselves and they did! They completed the floor and had cleaned up and put everything back and were finished by 3:30 ! My mind was blown :-) before hiring Jason I even mentioned the negative review I had seen about him on Yelp and he just smiled and said I didn't have to worry about it, he completed that job too. In short I'm glad I didn't base my decision on whether or not to go with Star Floor for my first experience with a contractor on the one negative review below. I would have cheated myself out of friendly fast professional neat and thorough and outstandingly reasonably priced service! I plan to see Jason and crew again in six months to do my stairs! I called this company and Jason, the owner answered my call. He met me the following day at my rental property in Fairfax to give me a quote on removing existing carpet and installing new carpet. He was on time and his van was clean and legit. He had samples of carpet, order forms, and business cards. He measured and gave me a price on the spot for carpet and a price to LVT. I like that! He was prepared and ready to do the job. Three days later I have fresh new carpet and am ready for my new tenant. Yay! I contacted Jason after that job was complete and he took the rest of my payment over the phone and texted me a receipt. He was so easy to work with. Jason and his crew just replaced our main level with large faux wood porcelain tile. I cant stress enough how great of an experience the whole process was. From the start to completion Jason was very good at communicating with us and answering any questions or concerns we had. Even during the project when a change came up, he was always flexible and very accommodating. His attention to detail was top notch. If a tile was laid that seemed out of place or did not match to his standards it was removed. Going with Jason rather than some large flooring chain, or store front flooring company saved us a lot and the experience was great. If you just want to throw away thousands go with someone else. Star Floor installed 260swft stone foyer in late 2012. It started cracking six months later. When I talked to stone distributor, Mosaic Tile in Chantilly, they said stone floor should never crack. If it does, it's an indicator that the subfloor is flawed. Star Floor would only replace damaged stone tiles, and this included 20 tiles. This was in 2013. When Star Dloor pulled up tiles, we saw that Duroc subfloor was laid in pieces, not in one whole piece from wall to wall. Leftover cut pieces were laid as if puzzle pieces. This was the origin on the cracks. Plus, screws were drywall screws and not flooring screws. So, Star Floor would not replace subfloor and instead replaced individual tiles. About six months later, more cracks. This was April 2014. Jason Lee, owner, told me he was very busy and could not come out until NOVEMBER. When I said I wanted him to come by before then, he wouldn't return calls or emails. Took him to Small Claims Court. This is an unethical company. My recommendation is to stay away fromStar Floor. read more
