Very impressed with the service and availability of a low sugar hay here. We have a 20 year old pony with metabolic issues. In an effort to not have to soak her hay to lower the sugar level any longer I was on the search for a low sugar grass hay that was not TEFF hay. I had heard Dave's had one. I called and they sent me the hay analysis and it looked good. We got a delivery and started the pony on it. We just had her first bloodwork since starting it six months ago and it is the best it has been in three years and we aren't soaking it and she is happily eating it! just what i needed as mulch for my garden. and to think that i was looking for these at home Depot and Ace hardware which mostly cost $10-$15 per 2.5 cu ft. but i got one huge bale here for $12!!! almost didnt fit my car! each bale of hays size is 45" x 22" x 14" i got it to fix in the back of CX5 mazda (barely). whew!!! and the guy there helped put the bale in my car. at home, luckily i have a trolley so i just dropped it on it and whisked it to my garden. tip: if using a car, make sure to cover the flooring and/or the sides. the hay does get everywhere. luckily i have cardboard boxes at the bottom. the hay was really nice. i am very happy. read more

I found out the hard way that the local feed store where I was buying my hay was lying to me about what I was buying, and sold me contaminated hay. After a $10k+ vet bill at UC Davis and almost losing my mare and her foal, I drove the extra 45 minutes and started buying my hay from Dave's Hay Barn. Stacy was incredibly knowledgeable and very sympathetic about what happened to me, and provided all the information and reassurance I needed to feel confident buying hay from there. The hay from Dave's is MUCH better quality than I've been able to find at any other store within an hour of where I live, and their prices are competitive. Finally found this place again. I was disappointed when it closed at the prior location. New location still in the vicinity off Hwy 101. A little harder to find though. Smaller warehouse but still stocks the the same types of hay. Fresh and fragrant smelling orchard grass is what I purchase for pet house rabbits. I have always received good service from the staff that package the hay into my hay bag and load it into my car. Pleasant staff. Quick service. That has not changed. At first, I drove to the auto shop next door and then found the warehouse. I waited for about 5-10 minutes and then called the number to say that I wanted to get a bale of hay. Next time, I'll remember to bring my tarp to keep my car from getting hay everywhere. $10 for a bale. They have other hay with alfalfa and starts around $20. That's all I know about hay. This is the first time I bought hay from Dave hay barn. The store is kinda hidden inside but there are many signs to guide you there. I bought a bale of orchard hay for my guinea pigs, OMG it's a huge bale. I think it should last at least a year for my 2 guinea pigs, the hay is really green and fresh, definitely high quality hay. The staff is really friendly, he helped me loaded the bale into my car. And the most amazing thing is the price, $24 for a huge bale. My pigs love this hay so much!
