I come here for my dog. He goes to the vet, groomers and I just booked his first stay at the hotel. Vet services are great, times are convenient and they can see him anytime and any banefield! Groomers is great, I love Gabby and Elizabeth in the grooming salon, they treat my baby well & know him now. Will have to update after his pet hotel stay. I booked him a single individual stay and play, with a suite and all the fixings: bath on pick up, kong treat, and 30 min play time a day. read more

I am writing this review because what happened to us at this PetSmart location needs to be known. The store manager, Katrina, is racist. I am saying that plainly and I mean it. I came into this store with my younger sister to shop for our brand new kitten. We are people of color. We were excited. We had our kitten in a tote bag with us because she is tiny and we wanted to bring her along to pick out her first supplies. That is the only reason we walked through those doors. Katrina was the one who checked us out. She rang up every single one of our items with a snarky, attitude filled look on her face the entire time. And then, after she had already finished checking us out herself, she had the nerve to stop us and ask to see our bag. She looked us dead in the face and asked if we wanted to pay for the rest of the stuff in our bag, implying we had stolen something. We opened the bag. There was a kitten inside. A tiny little kitten. That is it. She checked us out. She saw everything we had. She still chose to accuse us of stealing after the fact because of the color of our skin. That is not a misunderstanding. That is racism. That is profiling. And it is humiliating. What makes this even more frightening is the area we are in. We are deeply concerned for every other person of color who walks through these doors. If this happened to us, it is happening to others. Racial profiling is not new in this area and knowing that a store manager in our own community is actively contributing to that culture is something we cannot stay silent about. My sister did nothing wrong. We did nothing wrong. We are speaking up because we are scared for our community. PetSmart corporate needs to address Katrina's behavior immediately. She should not be in a position of management, and people of color in this area deserve to feel safe shopping just like everyone else. read more

I've always come here to buy my cats' food and have never had an issue. Their toy selection is great too--my cat loves them, especially at night when they're full of energy and have the zoomies! I really appreciate their convenient hours, staying open from 9 AM to 9 PM on weekdays. Whether I need to grab food first thing in the morning or make a last-minute trip late at night, they've got me covered. I haven't tried their services like the pet hospital or daycare yet, but I'll definitely keep shopping here for all my cat's needs! read more

After my 15-year-old yorkie passed away, I wanted to get a couple parakeets for my other doggie, so she won't feel lonely. The lady that assisted me was very kind thru the whole process. I was able to pick two parakeets. They all look healthy and are hard to choose from. I wish I could take all but....lol. The associate was so nice to bring a cart as I hadn't taken one. She helped me chose the food, play toys. The cage which I totally spaced out on the cage! The little guys are home since August; they are chatty and happy. this is the usual PetSmart I go to. We have done pet training and grooming here we buy supplies here and so forth. This review is specifically for the pets hotel. We tried it for the first time Sept 3-8 for $290 which is a steal and my puppy had a great time. When we picked him up, he was unscathed seemed happy and healthy and fed. The staff was so kind and reassuring with me leaving him there before our trip and he made new friends according to them. My only complaint is that they do seem sort of understaffed because when we checked in and out, we had to wait a really long time for someone to even greet us at the front desk but that's ok, can't be helped. Overall I'd use this service again 100%. read more

This location is frustrating, and some of the staff are very unprofessional. Specifically, the cashier working around 6:30 PM on 1/28/26. (Hispanic male) I found a $15 item in a $5 clearance bin located in the back by the vet area. When I brought it to the register and explained it was in the $5 bin, the cashier immediately said there was "no way" it was $5. I walked him back to show him exactly where I found it. Instead of helping, he argued with me and said it wasn't supposed to be there. Rather than calling a manager as I requested, he continued arguing and walked around the store trying to find where the item "should" have been. He was passive-aggressive the entire time. I eventually asked another employee (a very kind woman working with pre-orders) for help. When I finally spoke with a manager, they refused to honor the price and only offered 15% off. Even though I believe the store should have honored the clearance price, the cashier's attitude is the main reason I left without purchasing anything. He completely ruined the experience. If you're not going to honor clearance pricing, you need to properly monitor your clearance bins. The bin was right next to a camera--if needed, video footage would have shown me finding the item at the bottom of the bin. I have been using PetSmart for all grooming services for my Maltipoo for years. However, I recently had a bad experience with them. I took my dog on 1/17/2026 for a full bath and grooming session. I picked him up later that day and went home. The following day, I noticed the he was licking himself but I did not think much of it. The second day after his grooming session he was licking himself excessively. I decided to take a look. To my dismay, my dog had a cut below his belly that was red and swollen. It was obviously causing him discomfort. I have every reason to believe he was cut with the clipper. While I understand that accidents happen, the least they could do is say "hey, we're sorry we nicked him, please let us know if it gets bad" or something to that extent but when I picked him up I was not told anything about how that cut happened. This is frustrating and disheartening. read more

If zero star is available, I would put ZERO STAR for PetSmart PetsHotel in Coleman, San Jose. We just picked up our dog last night from PetSmart PetsHotel in Coleman, San Jose, and we were very disappointed and sad. The staff did an extremenly poor job taking care of our dog. Well, they did not take care of our dog at all during the stay from Friday afternoon to Monday evening. The details of what we complained about are: - We provided our dog's bed, treats, and toys, and they didn't give any of them to our dog. Our dog was left in their standard bed and stressed out for his entire stay. - The person who we checked in our dog to said they would provide multiple updates, send multiple photos/videos per day; however, the reality was very different. We had to push for an update over the phone, we had to ask for photos/videos, but all they said was complete lies, saying that our dog was happy, eating, peeing, and doing everything normally. They sent one photo on Saturday after we asked them, that showed our dog was stressed out and sad. We called and emailed on Sunday asking for photos/videos and an update; they didn't send anything until Monday, another photo of our dog who's sad and stressed out. - Good thing that we scheduled a grooming on Monday afternoon, where the groomer told us that our dog was in bad shape with eye infection, smelled terrible as he was sleeping on his own urine, and his terrible condition of his fur. We instructed her to keep our dog at the grooming and not bring him back to PetsHotel. - We learned that our dog lost weight from 18.2 lbs to 16.6 lbs in 3 days (Friday to Monday), which clearly proved that he wasn't eating and he wasn't taken care of. We're still dealing with his eye infection, and the worst is his behavior changed; he is not himself and still stressed out. We trusted PetSmart as we've been shopping for our dog's needs and also for regular grooming since he was a puppy. We were hoping that their PetsHotel would provide an excellent service, too, but nope, they are so disorganized and they should be shut down. We clearly will not return and we will stay far away from PetSmart PetsHotel and would not recommend their services to anyone who cares about their pets. read more

1 star just for the only friendly employee here. I came early for a grooming appointment. The Banfield receptionist was helping people, then giving me obvious side-eye I was waiting next to the desk waiting for the groomer to arrive. She was talking to other people loudly where I could hear her why I was looking like I wanted her to help me, which was a no. 'Idk why she's looking at me like I'm gonna help her...." Uh. I am right in earshot of you talking shit about me. Once she finished checking people it, she immediately hurried into the clinic. I saw a manager checking shelves, so I went to go look for them and ask where the groomer was since it was past my appt tome. This was the most disinterested person ever who didn't want to talk or help to anyone. Apparently the groomer was running late and the managers response was "Uhhh like well I texted them..." and turned away to go work on something else. Once the groomer arrived, did service, was great btw, and I picked up my pet, I was told to talk to the hotel desk to pay since the store hadn't officially opened yet. The desk lady was also disinterested and told me I shouldnt need to come here and just pay online through my account. At first, I was really skeptical to bring my puppy, Chase, to PetSmart as my family had a bad experience with PetSmart when I was younger. When I was researching puppy classes, they had the best prices, so I decided to give them another chance. I am SOOO glad I did! Cynthia was the BEST trainer for Chase in puppy training. My boy is really high energy, and she handled him and helped me train him with a unique level of patience. He passed puppy training and is now enrolled in intermediate and can't wait to go back! His training experience included coupons for other PetSmart services, so we have begun exploring those as well, and I have nothing but positive things to say all around! The groomer was a nice girl who clipped his black nails for me - something I struggled to do at home as it is much harder to clip black nails without hitting the quick. I then used a coupon for a day at doggie day care at half off, and Chase came home so happy and tired! I even noticed significant improvements in his behavior. Lastly, I had to find last minute boarding for Chase this weekend while I was on vacation. The PetHotel took him in with only two days notice and treated him like a king! He had so much fun, and I really appreciated the updates I received while I was away. I could tell that Chase was well looked after by the staff and that he was more than just another dog to them. Will definitely use Coleman PetSmart for all pet needs moving forward and would absolutely recommend to a friend! read more

Booking my cat's stay was super easy, I made the reservation by visiting the store and the associate was super helpful explaining all the details about their services. Both day care and overnight stays are offered. You can also call to check in on how your pet's doing! On the day of drop off, I was able to bring my cat's own food, his favorite toy, and blanket he likes to seep on. They quickly combed him for fleas then cleared him for his stay. For overnight stays, they provide two 15-minute playtimes with a staff member and up to three feedings. My only complaint is that I had to fill out the same form twice. Once when I first came in to book, and again at drop off because they lost or misplaced the original. Other than that, the pet hotel is super convenient and I had a good experience. I felt at ease knowing my cat was cared for and I'll be bringing him back here when I need to. read more

PETSHOTEL I appreciate being able to book a stay here. I have a theory that when I provide my own pet food which is farmers dog that it is not fed to my dog. The past 3 times after picking up my dog, his poo is a different color and consistency. Which I believe is because they are not providing the food I give to him. My test to this theory was giving them more food then what was needed and I didnt get any food back when I picked up my pet. We come here to groom our dogs and have a great experience each time. The groomers are very caring and take the time to listen to our requests in regards to how we want our dogs to be groomed. Before being groomed, our dogs' nails grew quite long and some were even rough, which scratched me a lot. Our rat terrier/chihuahua's nail even grew to be a bit circular, which they did a great job of cutting and filing the nails down without causing any cuts. We also hadn't bathed him in a while before the appointment, but he smelled so fresh afterwards. Grooming him here took about 1.5-2 hours. Our poodle got a shave down, but we didn't have any ideas for how we wanted her head to be groomed except for making her "cute." The end result did turn out super cute! We've also gotten the teddy bear cut for her before and that was adorable as well. The whole grooming process took about 2.5-3 hours. I'm giving 5 stars for the super cute haircut for our poodle, cleaning and freshening up our feisty rat terrier/chihuahua, and the caring staff. However, in one of our appointments, our package included doggy cologne and a bandana, but in the end our dog didn't really smell like anything and neither did she get the bandana. Not too big of a deal, but attention to detail from the groomers is always nice. read more

It is so wonderful to have a PetSmart close by to so many other retailers - it is definitely a one stop shop in this area. It's a great place to shop for your pets and I appreciate how wide each of the aisles are too, so it's easy enough to maneuver myself and my pup throughout the store. I am interested in exploring the training classes that are available in the evenings at PetSmart - there seem to be group classes, and there are some individual classes as well. The deals are great and I can always find exactly what I'm looking for - with ease. I also appreciate how helpful the people are who work there. They offer my pup treats and have helped me locate some specific items that I needed help in finding. I definitely recommend this PetSmart! They also have a machine to make a dog tag, doggy daycare, pet boarding, and other services. Will definitely take advantage of their nail trimming service too! read more

I asked two different employees for assistance with purchasing a dog harness ($40-60). Twice I was told that someone would meet us at the harnesses. Nobody ever did come. 0 stars for the racism we experienced For reference, my dog gets groomed every month, goes to the dog park every day, and has stayed in a pet hotel before. We never had any issues. I brought my dog in (small dog) and they let a wild, huge dog jump on the door multiple times. There was no one supervising the dog at all. This spooked my dog and he started shaking. Everything was still fine with the Asian American/Pacific Islander employee helping us, but then this white employee came over and I could immediately feel her bad attitude as she stared at us. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and I can imagine my dog did too. She then came out and stood behind my dog with a leash while the AAPI employee was in front of my dog with another leash (she had already combed him and put a collar on him). The white employee's menacing presence behind my dog scared him and he started to get defensive-I've never seen him like that before. He's the type of dog that just lays around and sleeps. The AAPI employee said it's ok, but the white girl told us we had to leave, that they would not take our dog. I explained that my flight is soon, it would be impossible for me to find another place to board my dog. She just said "No." Super curt. I asked if they can just give my dog a minute because 3 new people (I saw her whisper to another employee, a POC to come over earlier) with leashes crowding my small dog can seem scary, but she just said we need to leave. Her attitude was completely rude and unbearable. She said she was the manager and that we needed to leave. Of course, this was upsetting, but the way she handled it from the start made it seem I was not worth her time; it was for some reason instantly negative. We ended up leaving, but then I saw her completely switch to smiling and laughing when other white customers came to drop off their dogs. It was such a bizarre thing to see, especially when one of the dogs was jumping and lunging at people. She did not seem to have a problem with any of them. I'm confused because how is this behavior from a larger dog acceptable, how is that aggressive dog that was jumping against the glass door acceptable, but my small dog being scared was not? Even more than that, the way she treated us as Asians versus the non-POC was clear discrimination. I will never go back to PetSmart. Like her human mom, CoCo, our 19 month-old Maltipoo, is a shopper and she has a set of four regular places she goes to get the hookup. Two of them are on a street near our home, and if we even try to walk by it's not happening. We also frequent PetSmart on Coleman in San Jose for training and supplies. As we drive up to the store, she gets very animated and can't wait to get inside. She know's everything in there is for her and she can't contain herself. We started visiting this PetSmart location when CoCo was a little pup, and would put her in her stroller and push her through the store, shopping for food, treats and toys. It is a very large location with a vast selection of whatever you need for puppers, kitties and other pets. Eventually she ditched the stroller because she wants to be on the ground and socialize with the other doggies shopping. As CoCo got older we recognized she needed some obedience training, and there was a display near the front door with class descriptions and schedules. We took one home and found a upcoming Beginner Class that fit our schedule. We called in as spoke to the instructor, who sounded great. We took CoCo to Cheryl for Beginning and Intermediate classes. A training booklet was provided which allowed us to work in-depth with CoCo at home, and the in-class instruction was top-notch. Our instructor was genuinely concerned about the progress with every pup in the classes, and it would make herself available before and after class for one-on-one input if something wasn't going as planned. CoCo genuinely loved her teacher so much it was sometimes hard to get her to focus in class. She saw school as her fun social time, so while she didn't always excel in the classroom, she did great at home, and is growing up to be a great dog thanks to the training she received. For pet supplies I think this particular PetSmart is very good. For training they are excellent. We haven't used them for grooming or day care, so I can't comment on these services, but CoCo loves coming here. read more

I was super nervous to bring my 4-month old puppy in for doggie daycare. I am a new dog mom, and he has not had much exposure to other dogs. I signed him up for a private room for half a day to give it a try. The gal at the desk was so nice and reassuring. She convinced me to have him try the group play and said that if he does not do well they can pull him and put him in his own kennel. I agreed because he obviously needs to be socialized. I watched through the window as he ran away and hid from the other dogs, and just tried to get picked up by the human in the room. I reluctantly left, and when I returned 4 hours later he was playing with another dog and they said he did great. Now he is zonked out. So I failed to secure a bird from that other pet store on the Saturday after Black Friday. Lucky for me, PetSmart was also having a Black Friday sale on birds also! The deal here was actually better than the other guys' (This place had 50% off birds while the other was buy one get one 50% off). Anyway, after I was rejected at the other store, I routed myself to this store. Arrived at about 8:45 (these guys close at 9:00 also). Immediately rushed to the bird section where a young lady was there to greet me (didn't catch her name since she didn't have a name tag). Asked her if we could buy a couple of birds. She told me that they don't usually sell birds so close to closing but said that she would ask her co-worker (or lead or boss?). She excused herself while she asked and came back and told me that they would sell the birds to me then proceeded to ask me to point out which ones I wanted. From the time I first asked about the birds to the time I paid/left the store, it was a good 10 minutes max. Those two girls were super friendly/helpful/polite/patient. I wish I had caught their names, but hopefully they can receive some sort of recognition for going above and beyond for me. If it helps, they were closing on Saturday the 30th. Thank you two so much for making my son's day and selling me those birds so close to closing! I really appreciate it and we need more people like you at these stores! read more

I used to love bringing my Dog for grooming here at Petsmart on Coleman. Had been bringing him here for years as well as our Dog before him. However, lately the care and service is not good!! 2 of the groomers when someone hands over their pet do not want to be bothered with holding them and are very picky about the animals they will take. Evy and Anna are not who you should pick as your groomer. We always felt our pets were truly cared for while here but I would not trust those 2 with leaving your pet. I had asked for my dog to have cotton put in his ears due to swimmers ear which they always did before. The last time I asked for this, not sure what they did but his hearing is now almost completely gone from the time I picked him up and it has not come back. read more

Dog training classes with Leonard have been great! Just after the first session I knew that he was competent, experienced, and extremely knowledgeable. He explained everything he did, the what, how, when, and why, and expertly answered any questions or concerns that came up. This Petsmart continues to provide poor maintenance to the bettas. I purchased a male betta who was starving and performed a water test immediately and noted the toxic levels of ammonia. Petsmart annual income is 500 million yet they still insist on selling tropical fish (warm water fish) in cups in a cold drafty store. This fish was starving and living in toxic water. He is thriving now in a 5 gallon heated and sponge filter tank with plants. read more

I was charged for $40 extra for demating fee on top of a $59 bath and hair cut service for my dog by the groomer Monica. 1. I had another dog with similar condition but more curly hair for the same service two days ago and only $10 dematting fee was charged. 2. It took her 2hour 45 minutes to finish the whole thing for not only my dog but another dog. And according to one person working there and their website the service is around 3 to 4 hours. The extra charge is described as additional 1 hour spent on dematting. And when I talked to the store manager Devon, he said well she could have finished it faster. 3. The dog was shaved to the shortest level which means basically no hair left. So really not much dematting to do. 4. I arrived there at around 3:20 pm to pick up my dog and the groomer was already gone so I was not even able to talk to her. 5. I usually give 20% tips cause I know it's not an easy job.
