I have been going to Andy's for almost a year now. I have a snake, and they have everything there I need for him. I mainly come for the high quality frozen rodents after my snake didn't want some mice from Petco. They individually seal their mice and rats and have them at many stages/sizes. Adult mice are $2 and rat pups are $4 plus tax. It's a very small store but they do a great job and are friendly. Return policy is amazing since it's any time with a receipt. Their prices are very competitive and sometimes lower than Petco or Amazon. The quality is so good my snake grew a foot after I adopted him at age 6 a year and a half ago. We have been coming here to get supplies for our pet rabbit(s) for a couple years now. They have always been honest and open about the quality and prices of thier products. Today my baby fell asleep in the carseat just as I arrived and I didnt want to wake her by taking her out. I parked right out front but I was stuck so I called the shop and the woman working there was able to bring me the hay and pellets and take my card for payment. This place is my go to for rabbit stuff. They sell hay as low as $1.50 a lb which goes a long way. My rabbit loves their oat hay. They have various types such as Timothy, alfalfa, orchard, and wheat. Lots of their toys are also natural. There's also a clearance rack that always has good finds. They also have litter, pellets, treats, toys, cages, and more. Great finds for your pets. The owners are very knowledgeable and friendly. They also support a lot of other local businesses and organizations by listing ads to find fosters, or the latest vet exam events. Even more so now as an adult for my 3 dogs, cat & NOW bearded dragon. & I must say, their feeder bugs are very well taken care of & not too badly priced either! Andy's Pet Shop deserves all the love!!! This store is truly the best for all things pet related. It's my go-to shop for my rabbit's hay and treats. They sell bags of hay for reasonable prices, and have a wide selection of treats and toys for a variety of animals. My rabbit loves the pellet treats, hay cubes, and palm leaf bowls, so I come here for those as well. Staff are so kind, knowledgeable, and generous. They even offer free samples of treats and other pet products from time to time. Also, I can't forget about the store parrot! She's such a cutie and gives me a nice laugh when she talks. read more

Our go-to shop in the south Bay Area for fresh orchard and timothy hay sold by the pound for my rabbit! They also have a decent selection of rabbit-specific toys, treats, and play structures, not often seen in larger retail pet shops that are more catered towards dogs/cats. It's a small store right off of the street, you'll have to find street parking nearby since they don't have a parking lot. Privately owned and friendly service. Sometimes if they run low on hay you can tell them beforehand so they can put in an order and pick up another day. read more

The last time I stepped foot in Andy's was when they were in downtown San Jose- huge location. This is a much smaller spot. Some great finds and friendly service! We went in for a rat cage, and they certainly delivered. They had the perfect cage, small gates and had hammocks already inside. Fairly priced and exchangeable if it wasn't the perfect fit. I love coming to Andy's Pet Shop, and seeing the different kinds of accessories I can get for my bunnies (other than the typical options found at large chain stores like Petco). I was especially delighted to find that they offer large bags of fresh oat hay (that's hard to find locally) and other bunny favorites like the  bunny maze and cardboard tunnel (Tunnel Haven). There's such a big variety of items offered for all kinds of pets. They also have live animals in-store, some available for adoption, including fish, snakes, turtles, birds, mice, guinea pigs, chameleons, and a 35-yr-old parrot. I used to see bunnies here, but I appreciate that this establishment still has a good number of rescued animals, even during COVID. And they seem to be happy and well taken care of... the guinea pigs were especially playful, running around in their habitat. The employees are friendly, and provided helpful information when we asked about bunny nail trims (it's hard to find places that offer this, and not people who just do cat/dog maintenance but are more educated about rabbits). Also, there is both street parking and a medium-sized parking lot attached to the store... a huge plus in dowtown SJ. So much to love about Andy's! Hope they're around for years to come :) read more

The great thing about this place is they give you the option to buy toys individually instead of buying packs of 3 whatever's at Walmart or Petco. This is such an adorable local pet shop! All of their animals are rescue animals and are waiting for their next forever home. They sell toys, many of the popular food brands, and hygiene supplies for your pet. They carry reptiles, hamsters, fishes, and a variety of bird breeds. The staff are friendly and greet you once you walk in. And, the coolest part -- they have a Boxer on payroll! He mostly lounges and just watches the store. His name is Mosley (spelling?). Go support your local businesses, especially if they are a rescue pet shop and have a boxer named Mozy(sp?) who helps around the store!!! Located in downtown San Jose, but had a parking lot for customers. The area next to it might look a little sketch, but the actual location wasn't bad. From the parking lot you can enter through the side entrance, which looked like a little hallway leading to the store. The store had everything I needed for my 5 yr old leopard gecko, and the employees helped me picked some food for my pet. I picked up some medium sized Dubia roaches and hornworms. I've never gotten hornworms before so they gave me tips on how to keep the hornworms and a case for them filled with food. Also they have a lovely ~35 year old bird named Baby! Baby is free to roam inside & outside their cage. Andy's also had some rescue kittens, reptiles, guinea pigs along with their supplies. You can tell that each pet is well taken care of and the employees are passionate about what they do. Love this place and will come back for more food, supplies, and pet toys. read more

Came here a few weeks ago to possibly get a smaller travel carrier for our pet bird. Both workers (young male and young female) that helped were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They had great customer service and were also super friendly, especially the girl. We ended up buying a travel carrier, but had to return it since we didn't realize how much space our pet conure took up. Oops! Bird supplies and toys definitely add up, but Andy's has a variety of items and your wallet will thank you. We've paid up to $16 for a small bag of Harrison pellets, but at Andy's, they'll only charge you half of that for the same bag. So happy to have a store like this near me. Free parking if you park behind their store; we came in another way so we had to pay meter parking. We will definitely be coming back when we need more supplies, definitely recommend! read more

The best pet shop in SJ!!! I come here for all my bunny needs. Hay- I get fresh orchard grass hay and oat hay here for my bunny. You get a discount after you spend a certain amount on hay as well! Food/treats/meds- they have a good variety of bunny treats (oxbow pellets/digestive support treats) but more importantly they had critical care and Sherwood Pet Health small animal rescue mix. These items are critical for when I suspect my bunny is getting GI Stasis! Everything is affordable and only a fraction of the cost at the vet or other pet shops. They also sell wheat grass and all kinds of other goodies for your rabbit. Grooming- this is what sets this pet shop apart from the rest! When I first got my bunny, I called EVERYWHERE and nobody offered rabbit grooming services! But Andy's has a whole array of options for your exotic pets! I come here for my bunny's full body grooming service which includes his coat grooming and nail trims. One time in particular, my bunny had gotten his fur all matted up and Zoe was able to clean him all up! Zoe even offers an in home grooming service in which she comes to your house to groom your bunny!! Adoption- they also offer animal adoptions for bunnies, cats, guinea pigs, reptiles, rats, etc... There's a whole parking lot in the back which is a HUGE plus especially in the busy dtsj area!! And service is always phenomenal. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. When I was younger, I would adopt guinea pigs from here and they were the sweetest babies. As life went on, I could not have anymore pets due to landlord issues. However, recently, I got the opportunity adopt a hamster! The employees are very kind and informative with the correct kind of information. (Not the stupid, incorrect shit Petco/Pet Smart tells you) They let me see the hamster before adopting it, which is as simple as filling out a paper. The adoption fee for my robo hamster was $10, if you were wondering. I do recommend calling in before to check if there is the type of pet you are looking for, since they might not always have them. I'm really glad Andy's Pet Shop exists, because it's the only place near my part of San Jose that does adoptions. #adoptdontshop All in all, if you're looking for a small pet or just awesome pet supplies in general, I highly recommend going to Andy's Pet Shop. read more

I called to ask about adopting a pair of pet rats. They said they had two male babies that I could get that same day. Before I left for the store, a woman reached out to me about getting a new cage. I said no, because we have a massive rat cage that cost a fortune. She was very doubtful, asked me to send multiple pictures, take measurements, and kept finding reasons why my cage might not be safe. I shared the manufactures guidance. My cage is GREAT for rats. Suddenly, when it became clear I had no need for a new ($100-$300) cage - I only wanted two $10 rats - I was told the rats were unavailable because there is an extremely long waiting list she hadn't known about.
