I would say this is a step above regular fast food. I had the chicken nuggets and fries. The only issue I had was they have a tip option. A tip option for take out? Nopeeeeee! I have to give this Dave's Hot Chicken 4 stars due to the fact that, yes, it is a satisfying meal in which you can enjoy. The meal is filling depending on what you get. Although, the flavor of the chicken can get a tad tiring. Most of the flavor you would taste is from the sauce as well as the honey which enhances the meal itself. The service was exceptionally well, I got my food within 7 minutes. Although on a busy day possibly 10-15 minutes. I have been here a few times in order to perceive an understandable review. The workers are easy going and helpful. As for the overall atmosphere of the place, it is clean. There are tables with four seats to each one, they also have men and women's restrooms. One thing I thought that was missing is the tenders weren't drenched in that spicy oil that then seeps into the bread. But given how far we are from the Mecca of hot chicken, it's definitely not bad and it'll satisfy a craving. The service was pretty efficient. Went here with some coworkers because I love chicken and spicy food. Pros: - Very tender and juicy chicken. - Good crinkle French fries. - Fun atmosphere, plenty of seating. Cons: - The outside was very dry. The inside was tender, but it almost tasted like sand on the outside. - Dave's Sauce wasn't my favorite. Other places in the area have lots of available toppings for their sandwiches, or lots of dipping sauces - the options here are very limited. - VERY expensive for lunch ($13-$14 when I visited WITHOUT A DRINK). $17 with a drink is "steak lunch with a drink" price range at other local places. - Took over 15 minutes for my chicken sandwich and French fries to come out. Two people in my group who ordered after me got their food first, so I was convinced it just takes longer for the chicken sandwich to cook vs. the chicken tenders. Then the chicken sandwich came out - and it was just chicken tenders on a bun. This was not fast food. My coworkers LOVED it so they have been coming back every week. I haven't joined them again yet, because I'm not in a terrible rush, and because there are 2 places within walking distance who have better chicken sandwiches (in my opinion), but I will probably give it a try again at some point. read more

My youngest son and I stopped at Dave's on a Wednesday night around 7 for a small bite. Dave's was about a block away from our hotel and I was quite intrigued. Came on free slider day 10/24. The restaurant was packed with the line going down the sidewalk. I waited about 30 mins in line & got a mild chicken slider. The chicken was very crispy & very well seasoned. I asked for extra Dave's sauce on the side. definitely would order again. The fries are ok. Not the best i've had. Me and my son went here right after it had first opened and I completely forgot to write a review. The wait was almost 40 minutes and the line was out the door and curved around the back upto the parking lot. It was also cold that day. We were so excited by the time it was our turn to order. We got multiple of orders of sliders and the rest was strip meals. They all came with French fries and bread. The sandwiches were so good and we loved the sauce that accompanied the meals. Hot chicken, indeed! Very tasty chicken. Tender and generous portions. I had the Dave's #1, which was 2 chicken tenders and fries. They offer a variety of spice levels. I ordered mine medium spicy and wow! It delivered the heat! It was perfect for me. I wouldn't have wanted it any hotter. This felt comfortable and a nice kick. It was supposed to come with a side of Dave's sauce, but mine didn't, so I can't speak to the special Dave's sauce. Bummer. But I was given honey packets and enjoyed those with my chicken. The crinkle fries were crispy, seasoned well and very flavorful. I also tried the Mac n cheese and it was just okay. I ate outside and you can't go directly back in. The door was locked from the patio, so if you want to go back in, you have to exit on to the sidewalk and walk all the way around to the main door, so that makes it a bit inconvenient. I've wanted to try Dave's for awhile now, and finally had the opportunity to last weekend! I knew I wanted something spicy, and this was the perfect place to satisfy that craving. I got the Dave's #3 with level "Hot" spicy, because I didn't know what to expect. When we arrived, we saw a table that had 6 water bottles for 3 people and we were a little scared, but once the food arrived, we were really impressed with how tasty it was. I loved how crispy the chicken was, and it was seasoned very well. I thought the Hot had a good kick to it, and the pairings with coleslaw and pickles were super refreshing. I wasn't a huge fan of dave's sauce, but overall it was a good experience. However, because we were there, we also wanted to try the Reaper for fun. We ordered a tender with the Reaper level spice and braced ourselves for it to hit us, but it never did. I would say at this location, it wasn't even as spicy as the Hot option, and this was a huge disappointment because we were expecting a mind numbing spice. I'm not sure how it tastes at other locations, so I don't know if it was an accident or if the reaper really just tastes like that. read more

We enjoyed this Dave's. We came because of the cauliflower sliders for my vegetarian boyfriend. I got a medium tender and hot sandwich to try both heat levels. The medium tender wasn't that good but I really liked the hot slider. The flavor of the medium didn't taste as good so keep that in mind. For my preference the hot was not too spicy at all. I don't like the Dave's sauce being mayonnaise based. There is little seating for how busy it is. We had one waiting for a table while the other ordered. Seems a bit pricy for the amount of food that you get. I normally enjoy a spice level of medium. Everyone was saying how incredibly spicy it is so I decided to take it down a notch and ordered mild plus. I'm glad I did. I can normally handle spicy food but at mild plus I was right on the edge. The sliders are tasty! They call them "sliders" but their size is bigger than what I would consider a slider. The size is more similar to a fast food burger. The spice level is pretty low - I tried hot and was not hot at all. The Dave's sauce is really good. For sides we tried the fries and mac n cheese which were tasty. read more

They have really bounced back since there opening day. I was there the first day they opened and it was very salty, the seasoning was off, they really did perfect it since then and made it much better. One of my favorite comfort foods out there. I walked in and was able to place my order almost immediately. I ordered the #3 medium spice level. The food was amazing. This is the best spicy chicken I've had. You could taste a little extra cumin but that only added to the flavor. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned, and the fries were phenomenal. The meal also came with some Dave's sauce, picked, and toast bread which was nice. I liked the decor, it was a cool vibe. However, when I got to my table, I noticed that it either wasn't cleaned properly or at all so I had to clean it with napkins. Another day in Dearborn and another hot chicken spot. I don't know when this town became the premiere place to find some amazing chicken sandwiches, but man I'm disappointed I didn't jump on that train sooner. Came here for lunch, as it was not too far away and it was right downtown off Michigan Ave. so pretty easy to find. I hope Dearborn keeps its free parking lots because it does make this whole experience that much nicer. Walking in, I couldn't help but notice Dave's also had mural/graffiti on the wall as decoration. This must be the trend cause I have seen it many times over at this point, but I digress. There isn't much to say about the insides decor. It was pretty basic in design and set up. The table I sat at first was very sticky as was the second one, but I did see someone was coming around and cleaning so no issues there. Now onto the main attraction: the chicken. I asked the young woman at the counter what she would recommend as this was my first time at the restaurant and she suggested the combo since it came with a sandwich, a tender, fries and a slice of toast. I whole heartedly accepted her suggestion and waited anxiously for my meal to be prepared. Just to be safe I ordered medium heat which she said was strong without overpowering the flavors. I was very happy with my decision to listen. The food came out relatively quickly and I was glad for this as I was on a time limit obviously. I started with the tender and it was perfect. The breading was uniform and well coated and the piece itself was a very nice size. I dipped it into the honey they provided and it was absolutely wonderful. The mixture of sweet and heat was a delight. Then I moved onto the sandwich. Now I'm not sure if all the sandwiches are this size or if this was smaller cause it was part of this combo, but it is not a large portion, but still a very filling sandwich. Instead of a breaded patty they use a chicken strip, cover it in Dave's hot sauce and add a scoop of coleslaw. I added some honey to it as just mere minutes ago I discovered how delicious that was. Once again, I can't praise the flavors enough. Just an absolute treat to eat this. The only reason I didn't give this 5* was because I thought the slice of bread looked a bit meager and my fries were hard and slightly overcooked. But that's just being nitpicky, I know, but it is a part of the experience. Anyway, it's probably a good thing I don't live close by or I'd be be eating a chicken sandwich every day.
