The fries were perfectly seasoned, and the melty cheese was an amazing choice. My tenders had great flavor, though I do prefer a crispy exterior, and it was on the softer side. Probably the best hot chicken I've had in Northern Kentucky (Joellas isnt very good in the area; their branch in Lexington is much better). The flavor and heat are pretty good - dare I say it, perhaps giving Chick Fil A next door a run for their money. Their signature sauce is pretty good too. The fries are unbeatable- better than Chick Fil A and Joellas in my opinion. The manager and service members were very helpful - the manager was actively in the dining room helping clean up and asking if she could serve guests. Also pretty cool artwork on the walls. I'm so happy Dave's has made its way to Cincinnati! Also, there is one opening in Oakley next month! In my humble opinion, Dave's is not overrated at all. The chicken is fresh, perfectly seasoned, and the prices are very fair. A couple tips: 1. The sliders are very large, it's pretty much a regular size sandwich. 2. They do not play around with spice! If you don't do well with spice don't go over medium and whatever you do don't get the reaper! 3. They also have cauliflower, for my veggie folk! 4. Their chicken is also Halal! Dave's Hot Chicken is finally open in Florence, KY!!This has been a long time coming, but we finally got one close to the Cincy area and it's so worth it. Just a 20-minute drive from UC's campus to get some of the best halal hot chicken out there. They've got tenders, sliders, nuggets, and even veggie options. The spice scale is wild, but it adds so much flavor. They even have all kinds of fun drinks like slushees and milkshakes. There's plenty of seating indoors and outdoors for you to enjoy. Dave's is my latest foray into the hot chicken craze sweeping the nation. I'll say up front, it wasn't my favorite--but it still manages to do a number of things very right. Pros: - Generously sized chicken tenders. Two is a great meal with the sides. - Not too much batter! Just enough for a nice crispy coating that gives the seasoning something to hang onto. - A very cayenne-forward seasoning blend, and you could tell the cayenne was fresh. Remember your first taste of cacio e pepe and thinking, "Oh, THAT's what black pepper tastes like"? This is that but for cayenne. - A pretty good chocolate shake. I usually prefer it when shakes are made to order, and this one was dispensed right out of the machine while we paid, but it was a solid purchase and I didn't regret having it. Good chocolate flavor and thick texture. - Probably THE BEST crinkle cut fries on the planet. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, well-seasoned. I'd pit them against Shake Shack, Culver's or any other contenders on any day of the week. It's a crinkle fry worth eating. - A very good fry sauce. Now, the cons: Really, I just didn't care for the chicken seasoning. The medium tender was mild enough to be boring, mostly tasting of paprika with a La Croix amount of heat. The hot tender, while far more enjoyable and spicy, lacked the depth of flavor that I expect from a Nashville-style hot chicken. It had the heat, but not a lot to back it up. I have heard that Dave's can be inconsistent, and that the heat levels can be blah one day and melt your face off the next. So, I'd give it another go to see if it was just the seasoning blend that particular day or something. Or... maybe I'll just order fries. read more

We were crazy enough to try it on its opening day and it did not disappoint. The line was out the door, but they were Girl Scout level of prepared. Heated lamps for this waiting outside, streamlined service, and plenty of tables once you ordered. We were devastated that the milkshake machine was down, but all the food we ordered was top notch. I tried the Lite Mild Not Chicken (Cauli) Slider with a side of Kale Slaw, my daughter tried the Mac & Cheese, and my husband tried the Medium Tenders with Fries, and let me tell you they were ADDICTING. There was no wait when I got here but by the time I finished eating, there was a line out the door and down the sidewalk. The food is fantastic. The sliders were huge, more like full blown sandwiches. A two slider combo is enough for two people. Heat tolerance varies. I ordered extra hot and didn't think it was all that hot. But my 15 year old son ate my leftovers and chugged a half gallon of milk to kill the pain. Next time i am going to try the hottest level. I like the urban decor. First of all, I'd like to address the review by "Tom T". Slamming someone because of their "gender neutral haircut" and piercings is just pathetic. As for our experience, it was just okay. The chicken was good, and the portions were substantial, but it didn't blow us away. IMO, Dave's sauce was the saving grace....it's really good. That said, the main reason I've given the place four instead of five stars is because of the price. I had the #1, which is two tenders, fries, and two pieces of bread...for $12.49. That's really expensive; especially considering it doesn't even come with a drink. Also, don't get excited about the bread...it's nothing to write home about, and is basically there to take up space in the basket. Overall, it was fine. Ate here for the 2nd time & the food was fresh & delicious! What stands out the most is this place was spotlessly clean & a nice lady came around checking on us & asked if we needed anything. An employee walked around a couple of times while we were having lunch making sure tables were wiped off and everything was tidy. Cleanliness at any restaurant is highly important. For my first time eating here. I didn't love it, nor hate it. The staff was great. A manager swung by to check on us. Cashiers; all helpful and professional. The environment was a bit chaotic and loud. They have a vibe I'm not sure what it is. Clean bathrooms. The very stiff all metal seats were not comfy. The food was on the pricey side of value and a bit meh. $12+ for a basic fried chicken meal. All drinks are $2+ extra - which is weird. It does appear of a higher quality or freshness - perhaps worth. Adding, the portions are good. However, the staple that is the chicken lacks flavor. As well as Dave's sauce. The chicken is thick and of a darker color. But there was not much to taste of spice besides paprika and or chili powder. There are like 10 levels of hot. Being new, I tried medium. For a place with chicken in the name you'd think the chicken would be better. Canes and Chick-fil-a have way better chicken. City Bird has way better everything. For the money (no drink in your combo- really?) it should be much better. Chicken does not taste brined at all. The breading has an unpleasant texture. I got the "hot" and it is indeed hot. So I'll start off by saying I was kinda excited to try this place out. I had honestly never heard of it before I drove past one day. My son and I decided to stop in and grab some to go yesterday while we were doing some school clothes shopping. First off, asking for a tip for someone who literally stood there and hit 3 buttons on a computer is INSANE!! The tipping culture is getting way out of hand. If you think your employees need tips then maybe they should be paid better! Second, we ordered two number 1's. Which was just 2 chicken tenders, fries and stale bread. The chicken was in my opinion terrible, it had absolutely no flavor and was so dry, made me feel like I was eating a Popeyes biscuit. The fries, ehhh, they were fries. The bread, who wants 2 slices of stale white bread with nothing for it?? Then to pay almost $30 for just those 2 meals if that's what you want to call them was insane. For that price it should have definitely included a drink. I should have just went right next door to Chick fil'a and got better quality chicken for lesser price. I truly don't understand how this place has great reviews. I guess it's basic people who don't enjoy seasoning?? Idk, but I'll never come back.
