Dave's Hot Chicken is open late, which is nice when you arrive on a late flight and you want a quick bite to eat on the way home. I ordered the Dave's Number 1, which includes a pair of tenders, which I subbed one for cauliflower. One tender is really big and enough chicken. The cauliflower was delicious. I also got the kale slaw instead of the fries. For $12, this seems like a pretty good deal. read more

This was my first time trying Dave's Hot Chicken, and overall I had a pretty good experience. I ordered the Dave's Big Trio, and it definitely delivered on portion size. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, and cooked well. The mac & cheese was okay, but I'd still choose Chick-fil-A's mac & cheese if given the option. It wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me. A couple of small things kept this from being a 5-star experience. The sliders were still attached to each other which made them fall apart when grabbing them. I also wish they were more drenched in that medium sauce. As for the service, the person in the drive through was distracted and I had to repeat my order several times. The views from the drive through were nice as the building has nice artwork on the sides Overall, I enjoyed my first visit and would definitely come back. The food was good, the portions were generous, and it lived up to the hype. With a little more sauce and better packaging, it would've been even better. read more

It's not fast food fast! I saw they had fried mozzarella, and I was for it! There was a lot of people in here. When I got there.....It was sold out of the mozzarella! But I did see the Daves not chicken Cauli! So, I ordered with slaw instead of the fries. With the tip, I spent about $16.00 no drink with that! I found a seat, It was so loud in there. More just people talking! I waited...And waited....And waited.....by the time I went to go and asked if they forgot abut my order, it had been 20 minutes. They said it's coming up. I waited another 10 minutes! Now I'm ready to get my money back! They assured me it's coming up, and they said, they had a lot of orders! I get it, but at that point I was about done with the waiting! It still took a couple of minutes after that! I just wasn't expecting to have to wait about 40 minutes for fast food. Anywhoo! I'm a fan! That bread was so soft, I got the medium. I feel like I could have went up one more for the heat factor, but this Cauliflower, had so much flavor! As for the slaw, It needed some salt and pepper, and maybe some jalapenos, then it would have been good. I liked the fact it had greens in them, that was a nice twist. I've had a horrible experience at this location. What made matters worse is that this location does not want you to call this location if you've had any problems, so when we had problems with receiving food that was inedible and improperly prepared, we called the store first and it heavily suggested not trying to speak with anyone at the store and instead using their website. This is what I did. It's now a week later. I followed up every single day. I've talked with several assistant managers and people in customer service via email, but no one in leadership had called me about the actual problem. I was promised the franchise owner or general manager would be calling me and that my issue was a priority to them. Obviously not. So, today I called the location and asked if they could help me get in touch with the general manager or the franchise owner since they had been unable to call me over the past week. The individual then said that the person had called me this morning. Funny, I didn't receive any voicemails. Well, I did ask for someone to call me back and express that I wasn't happy about the lack of response. A little bit later I received a call from a Bianca Gonzalez (screen capture of caller ID attached). Whoever this was, assuming it was Bianca, she felt so comfortable on leashing a string of profanities on me that would make a sailor blush. So, not only did we have chicken that literally was not edible (someone literally forgot to put breading on it and just put raw spices), But now this location is insisting on calling its customers who have already been disenfranchised by their own incompetence and somehow it's appropriate for them to talk to their customers with such harsh language. One thing is for certain. This location deserves to fail. Now, can someone tell me who this Bianca Gonzalez is and why she called taking to me with such a filthy mouth? read more

I tried Dave's hot chicken for the first time today for lunch. I was a little bit reluctant because of the prices which I knew about ahead of time. I still think it's too pricey for what you're given. I ordered the number four, which is one slider and fries and then added a small strawberry shake that came out to be over $15 that started at $9.99 plus tax. I ordered at the kiosk and so I didn't tip. When they called my name out from the counter to pick up my order, which was for dine in, I took it back to a table and then noticed I didn't get a shake. I went back to the counter and said hey I ordered a shake with this and he said he would take care of it. Shortly afterwards, he had my shake ready and I got that. But before I can walk back to my table, another lady working behind the counter called out my name as well. I let her know I already have my food so it seems they are kind of out of sync up there. I noticed a sticker on the wax paper does not actually have what I ordered fully itemized because there's no shake listed on it so that only hurts the person giving out the food because they won't know what I ordered because they only have a name. As far as the food goes, the slider was good. It was a decent size chicken, tender, which extended beyond the size the bun and has coleslaw on it. I had them leave off the pickles. The seasoning was good. I ordered a mild. The crinkle cut french fries also had a nice seasoning on them. The milkshake was just kind of standard, not really high-quality. I noticed on their ordering menu you can get a family box. There's a 10 piece tenders for $45. Breaking that down that's over four dollars per tender. That seems very pricey to me. So overall, the food was good. Service was good. I just wish they would lower the prices. The atmosphere was casual playing some 80s music in the background. read more

The chicken was delicious! It's white meat and boneless. You can choose your spice level on each tender. The crinkle fries were overly coated in seasoned salt. The mac and cheese was just ok. It was expensive! And if you want a sauce other than Dave's sauce, it'll cost you. AND there's a request to tip - when you stand to order, go pick up your own food, and throw your own trash away. Two tenders, fries, two slices of bread, 5 pickle slices, and a small container of Dave's sauce was $12.69. $1.49 for ranch. We probably won't go back. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

History

Established in 2017.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. Demand for their crave-able hot chicken exceeded all expectations and sales have grown every month since opening with consistently long lines throughout the day.

Alls sorts of items come by your table. If I could say anything bad it would be that I wish some of the portions were smaller - there are so many things to try and I no longer each like a college student. Service - our server never left us wanting for anything. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I look forward to bringing more friends here in the future. The dining enjoyment last for a maximum of 2 hours but you shouldn't need that long. At $150.00 for the four of us, the food was good and the family dining experience is what made it worthwhile.
