Piece of metal in my tuna salad sandwich

The sandwich was great until I bit into a piece of metal in my tuna salad sandwich. I called the store to let the manager know he offered me a replacement, but after biting into metal once I'm good. He was nice just didn't sound like he believed me. Hoping no one else gets metal in their sandwich because it's not a small piece of metal. Also the end looks old or rusting. Included photos.

Very fresh, well worth the stop en route to vacation. I thought it was better than Jersey Mike's.

I just want to say first and foremost that if you are looking for a quick, clean and fairly quiet…read moreplace to eat along Dunn Avenue, this is a good option. Located in the fully renovated space that was once Country Cabin, this Charley's is the same franchise that many may be familiar with from mall food courts, like at The Avenues or Orange Park Mall. Back in the day I used to mystery shop and was assigned Charley's almost every month. As an independent contractor I would accept the jobs because it didn't take me anymore than an hour to fill out the report after the visit, and we would get 2 free combos, so a free meal. The math worked at the time. It didn't take long before my family just weren't interested in going with me anymore and my experience here reminded me why. This place is clean and well maintained. It is brightly lit and is most definitely not cluttered. When I visited service was professional, although I wouldn't say friendly. For Dunn Avenue, this is actually about as good as it gets. I decided to visit because they are a fairly new restaurant in this area and I had a buy one get one free coupon, so I'll take the risk considering my last experiences with the brand. I really was hoping that this wasn't the same experience that I had in days past. Unfortunately, the problem never really was with the staff. They always seemed to be focused on their job, but not necessarily oozing positivity like a cruise director. A smile would be nice. It wasn't cleanliness or maintenance. For me, the food is the issue here. Specifically the cheese steak. If you've ever had Steak-umm, you'll know what I'm talking about. The meat is pre-sliced, pre-portioned and frozen in individual serving size packages. They simply take the meat out of these frozen packages, put the frozen block on the griddle and put some steam on it to thaw it out and then it cooks. It tastes exactly like frozen steamed meat cooked this way would. And then, there's just no flavor from seasoning to cover the almost gamey flavor or steamed frozen meat. The meat is just plain meat with no seasoning whatsoever. And you would think having two cheese sauces would really add a lot of flavor, but both the orange and white cheese sauces were both quite sparse and flavorless. For me, unfortunately this remains food court food. I don't understand how this is a standalone restaurant. Not a thing that I've ever had on the menu has ever stood out to me. There's not a thing that I would crave. Not a thing that I would return for. Not a thing that I have ever really enjoyed. And for someone like me who really enjoys food of all kinds, it really says something when I would just rather not. Sure, it's clean and it's edible, both uncommon for Dunn Ave, but it's also not cheap and without flavor. Wish I could say differently as I would love another place close by home as an option to eat. I also want to say my rating is based on overall experice where food is not the most important factor.

Food was ok. Service was terrible. The cashier just stood at the other register. No "ill take u…read moredown here" or "how can I help u?" Literally he stood, stared, and hit buttons. There was NO ONE there- which makes sense in hindsight. But my sister and I tried to be overly nice thinking maybe he was having a bad day. Tried to joke, used "please" and "thank u so much." Not even a "ur welcome." They only got the 2 stars cause the steak sandwich was good. I wanted to give ZERO. Had to add salt and ketchup for flavor, but I like that it had all the fixings. I will NEVER be back to that location, as I'm sure residents around there already decided- evident in the lack of customers. They even had the door by the handicap locked. We had to go through another door. We thought they were closed at first. Only after seeing a worker walk around realized they were open and used the side door. No apology or recognition of that either. Especially since I was literally with my handicap sister. Wild to be treated like we inconvenienced a worker by going to THIER job.

I stopped by for lunch after being invited to try their Cuban sandwich, a fitting challenge for a shop that has built its reputation on oversized portions and doing things the old fashioned way. The bread is baked in house, the mojo marinade is made from scratch, and that attention to detail shows up in every bite. Calling this sandwich "large" doesn't quite capture it. It's enormous. Thick enough to make you question your strategy before the first bite, and easily enough food for two, maybe even four lighter eaters. Inside the soft house-made bread is a generous stack of mojo marinated pulled pork, thick slices of ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. It's substantial without feeling sloppy, every ingredient has a purpose. The timing of this visit couldn't have been better. I had just returned from two weeks in Miami, where Cuban sandwiches and Medianoches were part of my regular diet. Those flavors were still fresh in my memory. Blue Boy isn't trying to recreate Little Havana. This isn't served on traditional crusty Cuban bread, and that's perfectly fine. This is Jacksonville's interpretation, a Duval Cuban that respects the original while confidently doing its own thing. The pork is juicy and packed with citrus and garlic from the mojo. The ham adds saltiness, the Swiss melts into every layer, and the mustard and pickles provide the sharp, tangy contrast that every great Cuban needs. It checks every box while carving out its own identity. Some sandwiches are lunch. This one is lunch, dinner, and maybe tomorrow's snack if you somehow manage not to finish it all. Blue Boy proves that honoring tradition doesn't always mean copying it. Sometimes the best local classics are the ones that confidently become their own tradition.

Tables needed a wipe down by the time we got there. Casual vibe. Parking on the side and back.

Unfortunately, I'm not in the area that much, and only once did I make the journey just to come here. What is the draw, you may ask? Great beer, great food, great atmosphere, great vibes! , That said, every meal I have had here has been delicious. The beer is pretty darn good & cold too! Of course, with the long drive...ya gotta limit it. But it's worth it for anything on the menu. I don't know where to start food-wise, I am trying to eat my way around the menu. The gator tail and fish dip are two of my favorites for small bites/appetizers. The Elk burger, the Taphouse burger, and the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich are always amazing....and then there's the cole slaw...yummy! Delicious food, and they have more than just sandwiches. The menu offers a little something different. The atmosphere and vibe are always inviting, and the staff is super friendly. The prices are fair, portions are ample, and there is plenty of parking. The decor is fun too! Not to mention, they give a veteran discount with proof of ID. What more can you ask for? Well, I know what I can ask for! To the owners: pretty please, with sugar on top, consider opening a location in St. Augustine. Not in the downtown area, but the folks north of town need something; they need you! Around the Palencia & Kensington area, off US 1 to be exact...or anywhere nearby in that area. The folks there would love something they can walk to, ride bikes to, maybe even use a golf cart to get to...and yes, a short drive is good too. Jus' sayin'! Please just check it out...I said pretty please!
