Wow. This is the first time eating Dave's Hot Chicken (from the St. Paul Ford Parkway, Mn location). I don't know why it took this long to try it out, but I'm glad I did! I told my wife and 11 year old daughter today that this was going to be dinner, so text me what they wanted from Dave's Hot Chicken. The wife wanted the two slider (hot) meal with fries, no drink. The daughter wanted the 10 piece bites (mild) with fries and the Powerade slushy. I miss-ordered, this resulting in a large bill. First time error, but shame on me. I ordered 5 Ala Cart extra hot chicken fingers. The final bill was about $85.00!!!! I paid it, and was handed a receipt, and an electronic pager (yes, these still exist!). Seeing as everything is made to order unless you order online ahead of time, I expected a wait since I ordered in person. The Highland location wasn't too busy, so I got my food in about 12 minutes. I requested extra Dave's sauce, and they accommodated with about 6 extra packs at no charge. Just be aware, that sauce packets cost extra, so they did me a solid. Since I got 2 extra orders of fries, I punched a hole in the fry containers with a knife since it would take about 10 minutes to get home. I may have ate "some" of the fries while enroute. Fantastic. Crispy, hot, and well seasoned. When I arrived home, I was admonished by my wife and child that I got way too much food. But the accolades after they tried the food were amazing. They loved it. I loved it, and the dog, much to her chagrin, did not love it because it was a bit spicy for her. She got none. My daughter's meal was great. No spice (mild), and she loved the chicken bites and fries. My wife only ate one slider (hot) because the slider totally eclipsed the bun. She said it was very good. I tried all their food and then my extra hot tender. It was pretty spicy, but I may have to order the Reaper next time. Side note: The bill, as mentioned earlier was about $85.00. That's way too expensive for a fast casual meal for 3 people. That fault was mine. I accidentally ordered 5 Ala Cart extra hot chicken tender meals. I should have prepared better, and the cost would have hovered around $40.00. Still a bit spendy, but well worth it for the food quality. Lesson learned. Anyway, this was a great meal, and we will have it again in the near future. The only major downside was the Powerade slushy my daughter ordered. It was way too sweet. The chicken here isn't bad at all. I didn't go inside but I would say that most of the food is color more than flavor. Not saying it's bland but the fries and chicken were barely salted. It's forces you to dip your food in the sauce. And they offer honey which is unique. I had the Mild chicken next time I go I'll let you know how the spicy food is! Go check it out though. read more

Wanting my husband to experience Dave's, decided for a simple meal out one evening. I always say, if you're only going to have one thing on the menu, you have to get it right. Dave's does hot chicken pretty well. I tried to tell the hubs just to get one slider but he went with the one slider, one finger combo. What he didn't realize was that the finger combos come with toast, so there's bread no matter what. We still enjoyed our meals. Biggest downside here is the parking lot. It isn't big and kind of difficult to navigate around the drive-thru. read more

I finally tried Dave's. I truly believe this place is overhyped and overpriced. While the hot chicken is ok it's not nearly as good as other hot chicken spots around the area. The customer service was great, but I did have to wait 15 minutes in the drive thru with only one car in front of me. I just don't see myself going again unless there is some type of deal. read more

Good but I guess I was expecting more... We went here on a Sunday and it wasn't busy so we got our food quickly. The presentation is nice and they have crinkle cut fries!! My favorite!! We both got medium spice for our heat level and to be honest, there was no heat and I love heat!! Next time we will try a hotter sauce. My last experience at Dave's Hot Chicken was not so hot. I had the Top Loaded Spicy Buffalo Mac. It was awful! Not much Mac, lots of soggy fries, 3 small pieces of chicken with a bunch of Tobassco or maybe Red's sauce poured on top. I didn't even eat it all and I had the small, it made me feel sick. The chicken itself is fine - I have had medium and hot, and I like them both well enough. Cooked and seasoned well. Crinkle fries are seasoned well, but with similar seasoning at the chicken (imho) so it's a lot of the same flavors at once. Service was fine, did not love the entry setup at this particular location. The self service kiosks clog the in-person ordering line and should have moved over to the right as you walk in the door, instead. Milkshake was really melted down five minutes after receiving it. Dave's Hot Chicken was INCREDIBLE! This is the best hot chicken I have ever had in my life. My bf and I went to Dave's Hot Chicken on a week night and the drive thru line was long so we chose to order in. Once inside the restaurant you are greeted by an array of colors and plenty of indoor seating. I was surprised to find that it was not nearly as busy inside and we got are food much faster. We each ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were krinkle cut which are not my favorite but they were nicely seasoned. You are allowed to pick how spicy you want your hot chicken sandwich, which I appreciated, and the sandwich came with pickles and some fresh coleslaw on it. In addition, it is served with honey packets and Dave's sauce. The sandwiches were delicious and I am craving one again as I am writing this! read more

If you love spiced fried chicken, you gotta go here!! The chicken is always so juicy, crunchy, and super seasoned! It just doesn't compare to other tender spots. I always order the xtra-hot and it really kicks ya! They also have a heat scale if you can't handle spice which is super cool! You def have to order the mac & cheese too! Ordering is counter service and they have buzzers for when the food is ready. This is an interesting new chicken option. The fries were really good. They were crispy and the seasoning is so enjoyable. The chicken had a really coarse dry rub. The slider with the slaw was a really good combo. The the pickles are nice and crisp. The restaurant looked small from the outside but has plenty of seating with 1/2 booths, tables, stools at the window and a small patio. I wish they had easily accessible ketchup and more Dave's sauce. The food took about 10 mins. It would be great for a fast casual meeting. They have gender neutral bathrooms. read more

Well as far as chicken fast food goes I'm not sure what to say. I'm not a fan of Raising Cane or Chick fil A and I can add Dave's Hot chicken to the list. There was no flavor to the chicken. The fries were better than both. I know the lines are long at both places and at Dave's however I will not be eating there again. The welcome by Trina was great. She was friendly. The ambiance was fine however it was too loud to actually engage in any conversation. The tables were dirty and so rather than have so many people hanging out behind the counter they should be cleaning the tables. I'm happy some people enjoy eating there it's not for me. read more

My husband and I were excited to try this place and compare it to other fast food, chicken, and it was just OK. We went through the drive-through and the card in front of us took probably 5 to 10 minutes to get their food, but they had ours ready when we pulled up. My favorite part of the meal was the juicy chicken, but my husband and I found the medium to have almost no spice, I liked the slightly crispy fries but the Dave sauce is primarily mayo and that's really all you taste. Went there twice. The first time was a good experience but the 2nd time, never going back. The spice level is not consistent. The pickup line was out to the door and I needed a spoon for my Mac and cheese- because I didn't get one on my tray. I went to ask for a spoon and ketchup at the cash register, since there was not a line there and no one was ordering food. The young lady with longer blonde hair said, you need to go wait in the pick up line for that. Thankfully the other cashier, young gentleman said, no it's ok I'll get it for you. It's a fast casual restaurant, so take this review with that understanding. They are a little more expensive than Nashville Coop, and a little higher quality in my opinion. I still plan on going to Nashville Coop as they are closer to my house in Merriam Park, and again, cheaper, but if I'm hungry and near Dave's, yep I'll go there over driving to Nashville. Best spicy fried chicken in the twincities. I like the dry rub flavor on the crispy chicken. I thought hot would be too spicy but it was perfect. I do want to try extra hot next time. They also have a daves sauce like chic fil a sauce. One slider was a good portion for me and fries. Mac n cheese was watery, i will pass on it next time. Drive thru was long took 20-30mins. Only speaking on the service. I waited inside for about 10 minutes in line before someone showed up behind the register. then after waiting even longer I decided to go through the drive thru. When I pulled up to give my order, the kid on the other end of the mic stated that he was going to have to close the drive thru due to him being the only one there and he couldn't do everything. These kids need more work on how to talk to customers in situations like this. More training would be better. I'm sure the food is great but I will just have to wait and see. read more

My boyfriend and I were so extra to try this place ! We both got the #1 meal. The fires and pickles are ok but the chicken was SOOOO salty I couldn't even finish my food plus to give people spicy chicken but you have to pay extra for a fountain drink is ridiculous in my opinion. Not hot! I drove through on a Saturday, no one in line ahead of me. I ordered a combo with a chicken tender and a sandwich. After a fairly long wait, I got the food. Sandwich was an especially good concept: nice sauce and very fresh slaw all in a good bun and decent piece of chicken with good spice. Cheese was a bit too velveeta for my taste. Issue was this: as I opened to package within a minute of receiving it, both the sandwich and tender were room temp at best. I think lots of potential for nice takeout, but I'd skip unless they figure out how to keep food hot. read more

Pretty good chicken tenders. I've been seening advertisements on my social media and wanted to check it out. I got the #3 and I got to say that it was pretty good. The chicken was a nice size for the slider and the fries were a nice serving size. I'm not a big fries fan so I appreciate the serving size. The service was wonderful. I must of got a new employee to serve me. Great to see kids learning about customer service. The inside seems a bit small from the outside but it's got some space especially when summer rolls around. One negative, and it's my fault I took it to go so when I got home it was a bit wet do to that pesky condensation. It's best to eat it in house so it's fresh. read more

My partner ordered a medium slider and a the hot tender was absolutely tasty with a kick. Normally one of my favorite chicken spots and I usually don't write a review but on 08/28 I ordered two sliders and Fry's and received the wrong flavor, when I went back to tell the cashier she told me that's what I told her and when I showed her the ticket she doubled down and said she accidentally put that but she remembered my order (she didn't it was wrong and I even had proof.)
