Our food order was the hardest thing she has ever had to do in life it seemed and then we got our food (part someone else's order / part our order and totally fucked it up). Let's get into it; We are at the speaker - I order 10 boneless towing buffalo. She couldn't understand this. She seemed I spoke Chinese - I wasn't, I'm Russian but American as they come. She then tells me oh well we don't sell that in mild sauce - I said ok buffalo sauce / she said they cannot toss in sauce so I said on the side. Like damn. Then I asked for Mac n cheese. She said sub the fries out? I say YES. Then ask for size of RANCH. $1.49 for side of ranch. The receipt shows my order - no sauce with buffalo on side and side of fries (but I ordered side Mac n cheese) so luckily while at the window - she tell her Mac n cheese bc the receipt was wrong - she said ok I'll get you Mac n cheese. I love Dave's hot chicken, and the Fowler location is awesome. However, this one on Dale Mabry is awful. Pretty much everything I ordered had a problem. The shake was only 3/4 full and for 5 bucks that's a problem. The coleslaw is arguably one of the best parts of the chicken sandwich second only to the chicken itself, and I got just a few shreds (picture to follow) and the manager didn't have the best customer service skills, made me feel a bit of a bother. Stopped in before work a couple weeks ago. I had high expectations. I was waiting for the new to wear off. They cook a good bird and the hot is warm. What didn't care for was the price. No combos or drinks included. My two piece, one side and drink was over $17. Then they don't even brew their own sweet tea. They serve that god aweful Peak tea that come from a syrup bag like soda. It seemed carbonated. When I drink it it tasted like a coke. Not my preference. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it or go back for a second visit. After recently becoming a Tampa Local, I've heard a lot of recommendations for Dave's Hot Chicken. While I know it is a chain, this was my first time being able to try it. Overall, the chicken is pretty good! I ordered the tender and slider combo at the Hot Spice level. The crispy chicken and spice tasted delicious. One of the workers recommended putting honey in the Dave's sauce which tasted awesome! The fries were generic crinkle cut with some spicy seasoning added on. As a PSA, while fast food, it does take some time to come out. The quality is worth it but just a heads up for those that are in a rush. My only gripe with Dave's is the menu options. I would have preferred, for example, 3-4 tenders. The only options, however, are 2 tenders or various 1 tender/slider combos. You can add on an extra tender but it costs an additional $5. Regardless, Dave's was good and I enjoyed my meal. read more
