Always fun coming back to the VERY FIRST PDQ (outside the original 'Tenders' at 18341 Statesville Road Cornelius, NC 28031 the entire franschise was based on). My latest visit was late on a Friday night at 8:45 and the place was fairly quiet. After a slight delay during the ordering process caused by my reward not showing up in their system, the food was delivered super quick. I had just filled my soda when the bag of food was presented QUICKLY. I received 3 free Tenders by signing up for their rewards program in their app. I added three more Tenders and capped it off with "the meal", which is a drink, waffle fries and single piece of toast. The fries and chicken were freshly made and good as always. Their sauces made daily are always spot on. And all are delicious. The bread was a bit old, but a bonus. They were cleaning booths while I ate so this felt like they cared. Parts the restaurant was a bit messy after a long day, like food on the floor and trashcan 95% full but expected at this hour of the day. The employees were very nice. Even quickly brought me another sauce when the first four ran out (they are that delicious). I came here litearlly because I read over on reddit to check this place out, and I mean if some peeps says you should check out a fast food place, I guess I thought maybe its worth a while, esp since they don't have this on the west coast? After ordering zucchini fries, and a spicy chicken burger, and pulling immediately to the drive way parking to eat a few bite (as recommended by the staff since it may get stale). The zucchini fries were delicious, a bit too oily but good, but the burger was a miss. The burger was already stale (and I had eaten it immediately upon getting it), the PDQ sauce was delicious - kind of remind me of the campfire sauce and red ribbon? but overall its like a overrated chickflia with more options?!?! in my opinion? I would come back and try their other stuff on the menu, but I don't think its a must to try. And their soda was already flat - when I had gotten it, I wasn't sure if their carbonation maybe is out? or they just run more flat here in Florida. read more

Had to visit the original location! Had the four piece tender meal ($9.99) and surprised they do not deliver to the table like the franchisee in Orlando does. What's not to love about PDQ? The food is delicious, especially the spicy chicken classic, the buffy bleu, and the fries. The chicken cuts with the breading are so huge for the sandwiches and the breading batter is crunchy. We don't have a PDQ by us (in Illinois) anymore, so when we're in Tampa we love stopping by a few times during our stay. Service has always been great, in the restaurant or at the drive-thru. We'll be back to visit next time we're in town. read more

So, I love PDQ. I love that they opened in Tampa and on Halloween. I am all about Florida based businesses / start ups / locals / the whole deal & with Halloween being my favorite holiday, it feels like fate. I have noticed a bit of a decline since I first tried them 3-4 years ago. The chicken tastes a bit dry and some of the amazing sides have gone. I opted for a 3 spicy tender meal - with a drink and upgraded size to Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was a bit of a surprise, and super cheesy! I kept passing by this place and wanted to see if it was the local version of a Chick Fil A. It was actually pretty good! I got the Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich combo. The bun was very buttery and moist. The chicken had a nice flavor to it. The waffle fries were a little too salty and not as crisp as I would like. Gosh. This review is hard to write. I have always been a giant fan of PDQ. After not visiting for awhile, we headed out for a quick dinner. Honestly, it just didn't hit. The honey butter chicken sandwich and spicy chicken sandwich were both tasty and a solid 4 stars. From here it went downhill. The waffle fries were crispy well done like we like but ice cold. I ordered the Mac and cheese and it awful. It was fake bright orange with a chalky consistency. I could eat it (and I can eat anything). Bring back the zucchini fries! Delicious fast food restaurant in South Tampa! I've been to this PDQ location in the past and always enjoyed my food, which is why I decided to write a review. I didn't go inside the restaurant because I was in a hurry, but from glancing inside while waiting in the drive-thru line , it looked nice and clean. The menu is currently limited. Per the associate I spoke with, this is for a limited during COVID-19. The service was excellent, and they were quick, given how busy they were. The food was delicious and reasonably priced! Solid, basic meal. I was recently dining with a friend who has a five and a ten-year-old. The kids were eating pretty much the only meal they will eat - chicken nuggets. They would probably love it here. This place has your all American basics - burgers, chicken tenders, salads - what more could you want (I guess specifically what more could a 10 year old want, for those of us with more eclectic tastes there's a lot more we could want). I made a comment to my husband after looking at the menu that this place didn't appear to be really healthy to me. He replied that he didn't think they are advertising themselves as healthy, they say they use quality ingredients. I guess by default that makes them healthier than typical fast food, but if you're looking for diet food you won't find it here (although you could probably eat a salad and feel pretty good about yourself). I threw all health plans out the window and went with a Grilled Turkey Burger. Yes, I could have wrapped it in lettuce instead of a brioche bun (which is an option on the menu), but I was feeling carefree so I went whole ham. It's kind of sad that this is my idea of going wild nowadays. I forewent the fries, but luckily my husband got them so I could try them and then subsequently eat fistfuls of them from his basket. It wasn't pretty, but man were they good. They are skinny fries, which are my favorite. The Turkey Burger reminded me of Thanksgiving. It has a cranberry sauce and the combination is both nostalgic and delicious. It definitely gets two thumbs up. My husband's chicken tenders looked pretty solid too. They were golden fried huge chunks of meat. Meals are definitely more expensive than fast food, but not by much (about $5 for a sandwich and $8 for a meal). I definitely feel like the quality deserves the price raise. Also, you don't get that judgmental look from people if you suggest PDQ like you may get if you suggest Taco Bell (I like Taco Bell so don't hate on it!) This location is really bright and clean. They even have a sink outside the bathroom so you can wash your hands! Cleanliness is next to godliness (that may not be the saying since I am constantly misquoting popular phrases, but you get the idea). I'll definitely be back! read more

PDQ in general has excellent food. Their chicken is a step above what you would expect at fast food. But the sauces are really their thing! Their PDQ is best on the fries and the buffalo blue or honey bbq go great on the tenders. Both original crispy and grilled are equally excellent. This particular PDQ is the best one I have ever been to. The manager does an amazing job or keeping everything clean and working smoothly. Never had a bad experience and I go pretty darn often. This is my go-to for fast food. It's the tastiest and healthiest option with a drive thru. Their chicken tenders are amazingly tender, not loaded with sodium, MSG, and other preservatives like their nearby competitor. Seriously, check the ingredients for yourself. They have the best sauces that are made fresh on site. The spicy buffalo blue and creamy garlic are my favorites. The best dressing is the chili lime vinaigrette. Drinkably good! Last but not least, they have the best Greek salad I've ever had from a fast dining establishment. It's loaded with fresh ingredients including a scoop of hummus. I really have zero complaints about this location. Wish I had some photos to share of my crispy chicken salads. I did attend an event at the St Pete location not too long ago and it opened my eyes to additional food options that I will order in the future... I'm excited to find that they are not like a FAST food place, as much as they kind of are. Yet, they serve up FRESH food, not predone everything. It's cooked to order! I really like that. The crispies are crispy, the flavors are flavorful and you usually get what you ask for. (I once got a grilled chicken salad when I ordered a crispy chicken salad...but I'm not holding it against them - because it was really good too). I like that the prices are very reasonable (except at the arena location...don't get charged double at the arena...buy it here and bring it in the car and eat it on the way inside! or eat elsewhere). I'll admit that from looking at the name of the restaurant you wouldn't know what they sell. However this is a chicken place! We were debating what to eat and wanted a place near our doctor's office. So we stopped here. We both ordered the 4 piece tender, the "totchos," and I ordered the Oreo milkshake (yeah... I have a sweet tooth). The service was quick and positive, and the food was fast and delicious. You can tell the chicken is quality, and can even see the kitchen staff working with raw materials. I would suggest trying the sauces -- our favorite was the sweet sriracha. It is in fact sweet but packs a kick. And the milkshake was great. I would argue that Chick Fil A makes a better milkshake, but this one was still good. What could have been better? The food great but it could have been hotter. Thas' cray. Yes in fact, PDQ is cray. I was shocked by the appearance of the chefs because they were all decked out in their nice chef costumes, and not just wearing grungy cargo shorts while hiding in the back. They were very present in the front of the house, as if they wanted to be seen so that they could show off their nice threads. After eating PDQ, I feel like every other fast food spot needs to re-examine their entire business plan. Many people have pointed out the soda fountain with all of the different combinations - don't get me wrong, that thing is cool, but there is something much more clutch at the PDQ. A hand-washing station outside of the bathroom!! Whoever decided to install this, must feel like the first guy to invent TiVo - what an obvious and wonderful addition to our lives! I like to wash my hands before every meal, but I often feel like going to the bathroom can be counter productive, as you are entering the dirtiest place in the building. After washing your hands in a bathroom, you aren't able to pull the "open the door with your foot" move upon exiting, and you end up more gross than you were before you left the table. As for the food, it was great. I really liked the chicken, loved the fries and can never complain about a nice variety of sauce choices. PDQ, ya done good. read more

I've been through the drive-thru multiple times taking my children when they were younger. I have never had an issue. Orders have been correct and staff have been pleasant. Believe it or not I've never personally tried anything from PDQ. I decided to finally give it a go. I pulled up into the drive-thru on this Sunday evening with an associate working off a headset to take orders. I was thinking about the pimento cheese crunch sandwich. I wanted to know what was in the pimento cheese. This inquiry through the associate completely off her game. She had no idea what pimento cheese was much less what it was made of ! LOL ! She was very young and new. I'm forgiving of a learning curve. She thought the spread was a sliced cheese similar to swiss or cheddar. As much as I tried to explain she was not following me. She left her post to go find out. I was feeling a bit guilty being the one holding up the drive-thru yet impressed she went to find out, at my request. She came back saying it's pimento cheese. Yes, I know that. What are the ingredients in the pimento cheese please, I asked again. Further confused, she finally said we do not know. Frustrated I drove off. Then I thought this is crazy, someone has to know the ingredients. I called asking to speak to the manager. Crystal, the shift manager, is my gal. She immediately apologized and answered my questions. She offered for me to come back on the house. She was quick to diffuse my frustration and was truly sincere with me. We ended up finding the humor in the situation and having a chuckle. Although Crystal was offering to give me other items to try, I just ordered the sandwich. Perhaps I should have taken her up on her offer so I would have a better idea of what they offer. I would not order this sandwich again. It packs a mean 890 calories ! It did not give me the flavor punch I like. The pimento cheese did not pass the bar I have set for this southern delicacy! I like mine with extra sharp cheddar, little mayo and lots of pimento. This was flavorless. They should try my recipe! It would elevate this sandwich! lol. The single skimpy piece of lettuce was completely limp after the hot chicken was placed on top. The delicate lettuce should score a different position. I discarded this. In fact, I discarded all toppings so I could try just the chicken with the bun. They included 2 sauces, the buffalo blue and honey mustard. Too much of a mayo flavor and very processed tasting. Although my kids remain indifferent about PDQ and the competitor down the street, I still remain loyal to the old kid down the block. I would return to try a salad. So overall, Crystal saved the day on this trip taking my 1 star customer service rating, after driving off in a huff, up to a 4.5. Food 3. Overall 3.5. I have gone to this PDQ since it opened and loved PDQ. It wasn't until I moved out to Westchase and started going to the one that opened nearby on Sheldon that I started thinking PDQ's quality was declining to the point of not wanting to ever go back. I just went back to this location and can now confirm it is not PDQ as a whole, but the Sheldon location specifically. The Dale Mabry location is easily my favorite due to the customer service and the food quality. The tenders are crunchy but moist in the middle. I started despising PDQ's fries but the ones here were delicious! The vanilla shake was super creamy and thick with such good flavor. Now I know I just have to go a little further for my PDQ fix! read more

Came here for lunch one day after passing by it. The sign outside looks retro which gives you insight to what the inside would look like... The inside looks like a diner, cute and clean. There is even a handwashing station to use so you don't have to go to the restroom to clean up your hands. It is a fast food joint so you order at the register and wait around until they call you b name. They have a limited menu which everything consists of chicken. So if you don't like chicken, this probably isn't the best place for you. There are chicken tenders, sandwichs, and awesome shakes. Oh and they have Cheerwine! I love Cheerwine haha. I had the spicy buffalo chicken strip sandwich. Very very good! Service was on point and they are all so nice. They had a person walking around just picking up people's trays after they were finished with their meal. Cool place. Wish we had one in Orlando. read more

I got there JUST before the lunch rush, placed my order and got my salad JUST before the wave of people hit. This place is EFFICIENT! I sat at the bar and watched how quickly they hammered out the orders. How fast they took care of everything. One after the other, the orders of fresh french fries, of chicken tenders and sandwiches and salads came up, with virturally no wait at all. Great place for fast food! I stopped coming here for awhile due to the fact that their portion sizes had decreased. But alas, I'm back again. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and workers are friendly. They have plenty of outdoor seating on the patio. They offer two Coke Freestyle Machines and even have a sink outside the bathroom so you can wash your hands. I've had their Pimento Crunch sandwich (to die for), Buffy Bleu sandwich, and of course, their Chicken Tenders. Their fries are good, but they get soggy very quickly. I much prefer Chick-Fil-A's. They make all of their own sauces in-house, I highly recommend the Creamy Garlic. Prices are a little more expensive than traditional fast food, but with a variety of fresh menu options and friendly service, it's worth it. read more

I feel like these days everyone is either talking about Chick-Fil-A or Popeyes. But I hope that people don't forget about all the other places that make fried chicken sandwiches, like PDQ. I've never had a bad experience going to a PDQ, and this time was no different. The cashier was friendly and helpful and my order came out right. I think when you compare portion sizes between PDQ and it's competition, I personally feel like you get more food here. The sandwich size is a healthy size with a good sized piece of chicken and decent buns. With you're meal order, you get a basketful of fries that are fried nice and crisp and you get a choice of a variety of sauces. Drink-wise, I also love having a variety of different types of sweet tea to choose from because what better drink to go with a fried chicken sandwich? My only minor complaint is that the chicken in my sandwich was cut rather unevenly, making the middle of the sandwich rather thin. The breading on the fried chicken also didn't completely hold up well in some places. Thus when you bite, chunks of breading would just slide right off. But other than that, this is an enjoyable place and a good alternative to all the other places making chicken sandwiches :) read more

Went to PDQ's to have lunch with my gf. Was greeted with rudeness by the Asian girl in the Coca Cola sweater. I asked if I could sub a water bottle for my drink and her response was "ugh". At chik fil-a they say "my pleasure" and the girl at PDQ couldn't even say thank you. I don't go out and spend my money to get treated like that. Besides that the chicken was honestly mediocre.
