We got into Tampa super late in the night and we were starving and not a lot of places were open. We fortunately ran into Zeko's and here's what I think: The ambience is a little bit outdated, but very clean. The service was great. The lady at the register did such a good job and explaining all of the options and she was very kind. The food itself was such a highlight of the night. We were so tired coming into Tampa, but this gave us full bellies and happy hearts. If I ever go back to Tampa, I will come back and see them. read more

I came here today and the food was spectacular. The customer service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and the chicken was flavorfull and fresh. 2 stars for the delicious food, however they hire a girl named Precious with the worse attitude and customer service who rolls her eyes if you ask any question about the food. I asked if I can try a sample of the beef or steak to choose what I like, she just said "nah" and rolled her eyes. She just did not want to be there. Zeko's takes fast food to a whole new level! The food here is served quick, flavorful, and for the most part healthy when compared to other fast food alternatives. The food here is real and you can rest assured that you aren't consuming something that is ultra processed, frozen, and fried. It's a great spot if you're looking for a quick bite in a pinch, have a late night craving, or are in the mood for some Greek/Mediterranean food. The restaurant is open till 9pm for either dine in or take out service, and the drive thru is open until 4am (really can't beat this late night spot). The take out experience was very quick and took about 8 minutes. I was satisfied in the way everything was wrapped. Food: We ordered two chicken gyros with a side of fries. It was so flavorful and fresh! Everything came out piping hot, especially the fries. The portion was large and we had absolutely no complaints. First impression was excited Customer service need work. This used to be a great place for late night food but due to COVID, the operating hours have change. I would recommend calling ahead to make sure that they are open. Food: For a fast food, I really do appreciate that everything is cook to order. So be patience while order is being prepared. They give you nice portion and well-seasoned food. They have a nice selection from the menu. Ambiance: They have an average size dining room and parking is very limited. Solid Mediterranean food. They have really good falafel and an excellent deal on it too! 12 falafel for only $13.99 and it comes woth tahini and bread on the side. The falafel was crispy, fresh, and a good size. The beef kufta was also tasty. Tender and well seasoned meat. The rice and chop salad sides were just ok. Lastly the chicken gyro with a side of fires was ok. The sandwich was good with tzatziki sauce but the chicken was a bit dry and the fries were average. Nothing really stood out on that dish. The service speed was average and the ambiance is like a sit down fast casual restaraunt. Would recommend if you're looking for a mediterranean food fix at this price point. read more

Another day, another falafel taste test in Tampa! I like that the food here is made to order, and I'm definitely a fan of the falafel. The menu says the falafel wrap is served "on our Home Made Flat Bread with a mix of Tomatoes, Onions and Cucumbers and top it with our own Tahini Sauce" but it was filled with pickles too and the wrap seemed like a typical burrito tortilla purchased from a store. I ended up opening it up and eating the falafel and veggies with a fork (minus the pickles). The large amount of tahini resulted in a messy dish, but overall it did taste good! I brought a 13-year old with me, and it was her first time trying gizzards -- she loved them! We both thought the fries were the right amount of crispy on the outside, too. read more

First time ordering. We picked up our order on a Saturday afternoon. It's located on a busy road right next to a 275 entrance. It surprised me to see potato salad in my Greek salad. I try to avoid potatoes as much as I can because I gain weight so easily but I was so hungry and it tasted so good that I ate it all. Ordered a side of lamb meat that was delicious. Go to spot!! Zeko's is a hidden gem. Most people associate it with Salem's but it's a lot better AND cleaner. They have delicious falafel, shrimp, and fries. I've never tried the chicken. This Zeko's is located in a weird spot on Hillsborough and the exit to I-275 N. For years I wondered if this place was really going to finish being built or if they ran out of funding and it was going to be knocked down. To my surprise one day it was open. I never tried the one on Busch so I knew one day I'd have to stop in for lunch. This place is a bit pricey for a fast food joint and even for Greek. After going through the drive thru, paying $30 for 2 lunches and a side of hummus and 1 drink I had to wait about 7 min to receive my order. So this was a sign that the food was made to order. My hopes were high. When I got home I tried the hummus first. They give a lot of pita bread. The hummus was very good. The olive oil topping was quality Extra Virgin Greek olive oil too. Papi had the falafel. It's the green kind so I figured it was good. I had a bite and it was pretty good. In the car I could smell the fries that came with the falafel. They smelled like the fries from Salem's so I thought they'd taste just as good. Unfortunately they do use the same seasoning salt but the coverage was very spotty so not all the fried tasted great. I'm not the biggest fry eater unless they have good flavoring on them. My gyro wrap was a basic gyro with just meat, onion and tzatziki, but it was very good and filled with a lot of gyro meat. We didn't know what to expect--we were just hungry and wanted something late night but not quite dropping down to IHOP or Denny's standards yet (lol). We found this spot and thought "hm, Mediterranean sounds good and as long as it's edible we're good." Well, it was MUCH MORE THAN "JUST EDIBLE." It was so great! The beef was ultra tender and the seafood was so amazing--we were totally wowed. I was really excited to have Zeko's move into the neighborhood. I frequent the one on Busch at least once a month, and absolutely love it. This one, while good, is just not as good. I almost always get a gyro salad and French fries. The salad is large, and they don't use bagged lettuce, which is excellent because it makes for a better salad. Plus, the steak fries are the best in town! Salad and fries come to $12, which does seem high for fast food. When I call my order in ahead of time, it is usually still not ready when I get there. However, the women at the counter are cordial, and are quick to bag my food order when it finally appears from the back. This location is a perfect spot if you are about to jump on 275N to head home in the evening. However, its proximity to 275 is also what makes it nearly impossible to get into if you are coming from the west - you have to do a U-turn at Nebraska Ave, all the while dodging oncoming Hillsborough Ave traffic, and right-turning Nebraska Ave cars. The chicken was most likely a couple of days old. Just by looking at it was unpleasant. There were many pieces of hard stiff over reheated chicken bits. Gross. The fries were full of grease. The only good part was the salad. All in all we spent almost $40 on lunch for two. Pretty pricey and they nickel and dime you for extra sauce. I've always driven by but never stopped. Finally did today and was pleasantly surprised! Ordered the salad with gyro meat with a scoop of potato salad and its fantastic! Portion size is huge, so it's really 2 or 3 meals in one. Meat flavorful and everything else was very fresh! I didnt love the salad dressing but maybe I'm picky. This place right here will change your life. It's hard to find good Mediterranean food in the Tampa area. We have good food of pretty much any other type, but Mediterranean food seems to be in short supply. UNTIL ZEKOS MOVED TO TOWN. Let me tell you something, if you have a hankerin' for some good ol' fashioned shwarma, go here. The place is clean, quiet, and in a central location. There are a couple of downsides (to this location at least). First, it's hard to get in and out of. It's right on the corner of Hillsborough Avenue and I275, which makes it hard to access during rush hour. The other downside (which is actually kind of an upside) is that it takes a while to get your food once you've ordered. However, that's because they make everything fresh, so if you're willing to wait, your food will be hot and delicious. read more

Let me start by saying that I absolutely LOVE Mediterranean food and have had some really great stuff (and some not so great) around the country. And typically, when I try a new Mediterranean place, it's hit or miss. Well, Zeko's is a hit!! I was a tad skeptical because I know Zeko's is a franchise, but friends, my prudishness came to halt when I tried their chicken shawarma sandwich. Fresh, flavorful, and absolutely fantastic! The fries are OMG! And their garlic sauce is very, very good. My man always has to get the Gyro, and it's probably the best Gyro I've tried in a long time. Be prepared to wait a while as they prepare your food, but it's definitely worth the wait. The place looks like a fast food joint but don't be fooled by the drive through.
