I was really excited to go with my son and spend some bonding time. He told me, "Dad, take me to Dave's Hot Chicken -- it's really good. You won't regret it." I asked if it was better than Cane's, and he said yes, so we went. Honestly, the chicken wasn't bad, but I can't say it's better than Cane's. The main difference was the seasoning. The service, though -- oh my God -- was the worst part. I don't understand how they can treat customers like that. The wait time was insane, and when we finally got our food, it wasn't even hot. Welp, I would say this could be the worst Dave's location I've been to. It was busy on a Saturday evening so I'll take that into account but my food took 45 minutes to come out... that's pretty long considering it's fast food kinda. If I were to go to a sit dine in restaurant, I'd go somewhere else for that lol Anyways, the food was mid. The hot was hot though, but the chicken didn't taste fresh, like it'd been sitting, and the topped shakes was nothing special. Just Strawberry flavor with fruity pebbles sitting on top. Came in here last week and had an experience I've never experienced yet... I was extremely excited to try this new location, I usually go to the one in Dublin (yes I will definitely make the drive for some Dave's). So needless to say I was looking forward to this new opening. As soon as I walked inside the establishment the first thing I noticed was the fact that there were some flies around. At this point, it doesn't bother me because I know it's not realistic for at least 1 or 2 flies being able to get inside. But as I'm ordering my food at the kiosk, I'm noticing that it's not just 1, 2, or even 3 flies...there's dozens inside the whole establishment!! This should have been my sign to leave right then and there. But I continued to order, thinking to myself "I'll just sit outside, there's more flies inside than outside" As I'm siting down waiting for my food to be prepared, I'm watching the flies land on the tables, the soda machine area, the windows, and I couldn't go 10 seconds without having to swat one away from my face or body. Then I noticed even the kitchen staff are swatting away the flies. THAT was my realization that I could not eat here. Flies are truly a sanitary issue and it felt so dirty of me to consume food from an establishment that has a fly infestation. Gratefully, I ended up getting a refund and going to Angry Chicks instead to get my hot chicken fix in. The staff and manager were very understanding about the situation and did not give me a hard time about the refund, which I greatly appreciated. Deserves a1 star but I'm giving this place the 1 extra star because of how understanding the staff were and they gave me my refund without any problems. It's not their fault that they had to work in these conditions. Although, whoever OWNS this particular location: You should take this VERY seriously. It's so vile to think about flies landing on your food and probably leaving eggs behind. And it's truly unfair for the staff to have to work in these conditions. Doesn't matter if you need to close for the day to fumigate or hire someone to come over night. But this shouldn't be taken lightly. Maybe I'll be back in the future to be able to actually be able to enjoy the food, but probably not for a while. Will update if I do! read more

Restaurant was clean, it wasn't full despite it being a Saturday night. Love all the art on the wall. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Genevieve, the cashier that took our order was super friendly and answered whatever questions we had with a smile. She gave us our food with a smile as well. Taste of the food was ok. Maybe a little over seasoned in some spots but not terrible. We expected it to be super spicy so we went with the mild but honestly could have gone with a higher spice level. Went to pick up my food at the time the email said it would be ready, asked to wait 5 min. No big deal, we sat at a table. All the tables were filthy, garbage on the ground. Place was definitely not that busy. Waited another 15 min for food to come out. Milkshakes and slushes were sitting in the fridge completely melted. Food was COLD and WRONG. Why were we waiting extra for our food to be cold. One bowl was missing the chicken. I let someone know they apologized and threw the tiniest pieces in chicken, one inedible since it was rock hard. One bowl had sauce that was supposed to be on the side. All in all the food was pretty horrible and definitely not worth $85 read more

Son and I hit the grand opening on Halloween Day. We wanted to try a variety of flavors, so we ordered a 10 piece bites (hot), a #4 combo (mild) and a #2 combo (Reaper). We also got a vanilla and strawberry shake. I can handle pretty spicy food, so I was looking forward to the Reaper (had to sign a waiver before ordering). The young lady working the register was extremely nice and helpful. While we were eating, a manager came out and checked on everyone making sure all was good. BIG plus for their customer service, now for the food ratings: The shakes are thick and tasty. The chicken bites were juicy and filling. The sliders come with two huge pieces of chicken, pickles, and slaw. The Reaper's heat is delayed. At first bite, it wasn't too hot. As time went on, the spice kicks in and it is nose clearing and eye watering! Only disappointing part of the meal were the fries. The taste was good, but they came out temperature cold. We had to get a to go box because we were full, so that is a good sign. I recommend the "hot" spice level on whatever you order, it doesn't kill you, but you know it is there. Dipping sauce was a good compliment to the chicken bites. Outdoor eating area was nice on a Fall day, plus it was clean. 4 1/2 star rating, we'll be back. read more

I recently checked out Dave's Hot Chicken in Turlock. It was busy being new, but the setup made things a bit tough to navigate--ordering, picking up food, grabbing utensils, and refilling drinks were all around the same spot, crowded. The pager system didn't seem to work, and instead of buzzing, orders were quietly called out, which made it easy to miss. On the bright side, the cashier was super friendly and helpful, the chicken was juicy and flavorful, and great tasting bun. The fry sauce was just okay (Canes is better), but overall the food itself was solid. I'd give it a 4 out of 5. This place definitely has potential once they smooth out some of the growing pains. With Cane's in Ceres, Chick-fil-A on the way, and Popeyes, KFC, and Buffalo Wild Wings all nearby, getting the process tightened up will be important. Best of luck to the team read more

Today was our first time trying this spot and it didn't disappoint. So glad we decided to try this place out . Staff was very friendly and welcoming and didn't hesitate to give recommendations and suggestions. The establishment was nice and clean and tidy and I loved the music they played gave me a nostalgic feeling . Their chicken is so tender and not dry it was cooked and seasoned perfectly . I ordered a side of kale slaw that was very good perfect amount of each vegetable and I ordered a side of their Mac n cheese . Highly recommend their Mac n cheese the pasta was cooked just right and was very cheesy . Oh and I love pickles so I asked for extra their pickles are the perfect combination with the chicken nice and crisp and tart . The fries they serve are the crinkled ones which I prefer . Much to our surprise the store manager came to our table and asked how was our experience and of course we just raved about everything he then recommended we download the app to accumulate points to get free items which I thought was super cool. Not baked but better than the blue box. Coleslaw was good. After eating mine I immediately had tummy issues and a headache.
