This smaller restaurant right off blue star highway will pop right up on you. The parking lot is bigger and easy to get into if your heading south. Heading north on blue star highway you will need to do a Michigan left turn. The inside is clean and neat. Tables are cleaned off and the wait staff is very swift. The prices was a little bit above what other diners charge in the area for breakfast. But it's worth it for the small family atmosphere. Unfortunately they did not have the Belgium waffle available on our visit. We settled for a great breakfast anyway. The coffee was wonderful and the server made sure our meal was good. This is a great spot for a quick and quiet breakfast away from the downtown area of South Haven. Check them out and support your local cafe! read more

SIGH... Well, my first visit to Dave's Landing with the new owners. I came away disappointed. Positive: very friendly waitress working the entire dining room by herself, running cash register, and taking phone calls for take-out orders. Lots of take out customers. Good french toast; food was hot. Negative: Lots of take out customers slow down food service to the people (im)patiently waiting for their food. Monday lunch hour: 2/3 of the tables in use; it was 40 minutes from placing order to delivery of food. One item omitted by the cooks. Honestly, nothing special for any of the entrees we had; omelets had less filling (meat, cheese, veggies) than I expect; extra charge for potatoes; eggs overcooked. FYI, they have a 4% credit card surcharge. I understand small businesses have to consider doing this, so not a complaint. Finally, the prices for breakfasts seem a little high to me, especially considering comments above. In all fairness, they are one month into the business; hopefully they will find the "sweet spot". read more

Feel free to share their big long tables with people who are about to be friends but still be socially distanced or take a booth. Their very generous breakfast special is two eggs, two sausage, two pancakes and choice of toast or biscuit. Since they are new their menu is limited -biscuits and gravy ; breakfast burritos, French toast and the breakfast special. But portions are generous. Try the blueberry sauce on your pancakes or French toast. Delicious!!! I love their pancakes-yes we've been there multiple times since they opened a few weeks ago and I have their pancakes every time. Good enough to eat plain- no sauce or syrup necessary. Light and fluffy with a hint of vanilla -you get two large pancakes with the breakfast special. You won't be disappointed. The staff really makes your feel like you're part of the neighborhood. Friendly fast and efficient this family owned business is worth a stop. It's that warm and friendly greeting for every single customer that makes you feel welcome. They have plans for expanding their menu to include some fall lunch time favorites like home made soups and fish fry on Friday nights plus some more breakfast treats. Absolutely love eating at this place. It happens to be a regular for both my husband and myself. Food always comes out in a timely manner. Restaurant isnt over packed. Every now and then there's a small wait for a seat but that's just because of how welcoming it is. It makes people never want to leave. It's family owned and run and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves from the time they arrive until they walk out the door. Staff is friendly and welcoming. The food portions are either just right or sometimes more than even I can handle. Prices are good for the amount of food you get. Love that you can order to-go and it doesn't take too long. I've gone on Friday nights for the fish fry they just started having and their perch is one if the best in South haven. I would 100% recommend this place every time. read more

Went there today around 11. We were a party of 8. 2 adults and 6 kids. (All under the age of 13) we get in and had to just stand there for a few mins before anyone said a word to us. The waitress made eye contact with us a few times but failed to even say "I'll be right with you!" Then, she told us to stand out side in the rain while she cleaned our table off. That instantly made us want to leave. Only reason we didn't was we had a gift card to spend. Anyways, then it took 5 mins to wipe a table. Then once we got sat it took 3 mins to bring us menus. Then, the food was gross. The biscuits and gravy had no flavor and the white toast was some dollar store over cooked toast. Thankfully, we all ate for 54 bucks. I will say it was cheap. But, you get what you pay for. We won't go back. read more

Waitress never checked back with me on my order or to refill my coffee. I ordered 1 cup of coffee followed by decaf refills when I placed my order. I ordered 2 eggs over medium, soft bacon, american fries, sourdough toast, and one biscuit with gravy. I got 2 half raw eggs with heavy slime, burned bacon. I ate one slice of toast and the biscuit and gravy. I called the waitresses over and showed her the eggs and bacon. She offered to have the bacon recooked, but it was already burned!!? I did say no and had her take the plate away. For the slice of toast, cup of coffee, and one biscuit with gravy I was charged $16.43. plus I left ( my choice ) a $2.00 tip. I will never be back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

My husband and I stumbled across this place one morning and so happy that we did. It's our new favorite place for breakfast. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We have been there several times now and the food is excellent. My Husband is very picky on his biscuits and gravy and they passed all his expectations. They also have great coffee. This is a good old fashioned diner with great traditional American breakfasts and some sandwiches. I've had the Dave's omelette, which was great; also the toasted ham and cheese sandwich with onion rings. Excellent REAL onion rings, too. My only complaint is that they close at 2pm - I'll bet they could do a great dinner business as well. I was hoping the new owners would be an upgrade from the previous restaurant, but not the case. Over priced for tiny portions, and I'm not a big eater. Ordered the breakfast burritos, which was two tiny burritos filled with ground meat, and I guess some onions. No cheese. No salsa. No guacamole. No flavor. McDonald's is much, much better. And while they take credit cards, they add a 4% surcharge. And wait for it, the cook was not masked or hairnetted, and he had long hair and a beard. Never again! read more

I ordered a breakfast burrito. It came out and the first thing I noticed was that the shredded cheese on top was not melted. After taking a bite the gravy was room temperature and I found that the inside of the burrito was barely warm. There was no way from the time we ordered to the time we got the food that the burrito should be cool in the center. The server offered to microwave it... the servers were friendly. read more

Let's just say this unfortunately fails under the one and done category for both me and my wife. Staff not friendly or attentive in the least. Food portions small and overpriced not including 4% fee for a even a debit card. Several people that were not employees came into and out of the kitchen which is kind of creepy.
