As soon as you walk in you can notice how well laid out and organized this store is...all the nice fresh produce on the right as soon as you walk in....then all the other departments as you progress inwards. I went in to get some Amazon Prime specials and a few grocery items. I like the 365 brand, it's a generic label but of very high quality. Whole Foods Market started in 1984 in Austin TX, and during those early years, it slowly opened stores in the South.....first in Houston and Dallas and then in New Orleans. The company made its initial public offering on January 23, 1992. While opening new stores, the company fueled rapid growth by acquiring other natural foods chains throughout the 1990s and the 2000s. In June 2017, Amazon purchased Whole Foods Market for $13.7 billion. In January 2019, to facilitate expansion into previously unserved areas, Amazon announced plans to acquire some former Sears and Kmart locations from Sears Holdings, which filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection on October 15, 2018. The Waterman store should take note, their buffet and salad bar are pathetic! There are a lot of tables to sit at and eat if you wanna grab something to eat before shopping at Garden City. They also have a really good fresh flower selection. You can also get nice holiday wreaths, mums and Christmas trees for reasonable prices. Don't get me started on the pastry case because everything looks amazing! I love the tiny sizes because you can try different desserts.

I am not too crazy about their meats, I have bought them before and the quality of them is not as good as Shaw's or even Walmart. So I don't buy meat here...except if it's prepackaged like in a Cryovac....so it is actually coming from a meat processor like Hormel or Tyson. When she was done I went and asked if they make sandwiches to order. The guy working said "no, we make all of our sandwiches fresh each morning and they're in the case by the door." He wasn't rude, but it seemed odd that they wouldn't sell me a custom sandwich. Here's my first complaint: all the sandwiches were on little foam trays and covered in plastic (like a piece of steak would come on at a grocery store), I don't know if this is how they always do it, but it's a bad idea: all of the sandwiches were squished flat because of how tight the plastic was (and also probably because they stack them up). I'm no elitist, I'm not a fancy guy, but presentation is half the battle and these sandwiches were not appetizing. What's wrong with just rolling your subs in deli paper? I swallowed my pride and grabbed the least flattened turkey sub, along with a bag of chips and a drink. The cashier girl was polite and asked me if I wanted any condiments for the sub, which I did. When I got home and began eating my sub I discovered it already had mayonnaise on it, which I don't like. And it wasn't listed on the label with the ingredients. Which is exactly why I would've ordered a sandwich from the deli, not because I think the ones in the case aren't fresh, but because they looked awful, and now to me it tasted awful. The turkey too was really crumbly... it didn't look like a turkey sub, it looked like a tuna sub.
