Was very disappointed in my visit today. I reserved an 8-lb. prime rib last week and told them I would pick it up today, Wednesday, and all was good. When I went to pick up my order this morning, after 8 minutes of looking on all their lists, they told me my order was cancelled. Cancelled?? By whom? They said they would accommodate me but it took almost 30 minutes of waiting and them waiting on other people for me to finally get my order. Very disappointed and will probably place my order next year with Dockside and just visit Sandy Lane Meat for my weekly meats only (their meats are good) but will not be placing another order any time soon. read more

I have been going here for a couple of years now. Don't let the outside fool you. This is a great meat market. A great market in general. They are not the cheapest when it comes to other goods, but their meet is a great quality product, hand cut for the most part and wrapped for you. I do not know why you would shop at the big grocery chains when you can get this quality and service. They also make their own Italian Sausage and Ground Beef. Nothing says holiday feast to me like a standing beef rib roast (aka prime rib) and that's just what brought me over here prior to the Christmas dinner I had planned. I don't know about you, but I have been striking out in the meat department as of late-especially in the beef category. I had heard great things about this meat market through word of mouth. I called over to check prices on a standing "choice" beef rib roast. For 7.99 / lb I was on the road a few moments later, with my mom as my wingman. Sandy Lane Meat Market is located on Sandy Lane in Warwick, just after the intersection at Warwick Avenue. I've passed by it a hundred times but never taken much notice. My mom on the other hand turned to me and said, "I hope the outside isn't an indication of what they've got on the inside." As I pulled into a spot in their ample off-street lot, I promised her that we would bail out if any foul odors met us at the door. It's not like it's boarded up or has doors hanging off hinges. The exterior wooden signage is white with red painted lettering that definitely needs attention. It looks like it is locked in time back in the 60's. Same for the inside. Small produce area, dairy/egg cooler, and metal shelving for canned goods and other random household sundries. I wouldn't do my household shopping here, but I guess you could if you needed to. Good news - the air was clear when we stepped inside and we were met by a very friendly butcher behind the meat counter. He took our request on a piece of paper (2 rib choice beef roast) and hung it in the order slot behind the butcher counter. Cool. He then went into the back walk-in cooler and the butcher cut our meat to order. No line and very little waiting. I got some deli meat sliced while waiting for the roast. Mother Goose liverwurst was a great addition to the trip...and also tried some of their own roast beef. Pleasant folks behind the deli counter as well. Check out was a breeze. We charged our purchases - and even bought some Power Ball tickets. We tried the deli sliced roast beef when we got home and it was the absolute worst I have ever tasted. Tough as leather and void of any flavor. Mom and I had serious concerns about the roast we purchased, but time would tell. I am happy to report that the rib roast was the absolute best cut of beef I have ever purchased and prepared in my home. So good that it negates the deli meat atrocity by a mile. The appearance of the store is lacking, but I guess some could say it's part of the charm. I just think that they could get a little more street traffic if they spiffed up a bit. But then again, maybe cutting back on the frills is keeping my meat price lower. I would recommend this market for hand-cut meats to order at a value price. If you stick to what they focus on in their name, this meat market has some great stuff in store. read more

Ann and Billy and their entire team at Sandy Lane always make my day...friendly, helpful, and always have what I need. I know this sounds weird, but I wouldn't buy onions anywhere else, you can go to all the area grocery stores and their onions are either the size of grapefruit or they are just plain rotten. I cook almost every night and haven't been to a restaurant [except to pick up a pizza] in almost six years...thank-you Covid Hysteria, but I always seem to find almost everything I need here and the Shell Sirloin Steak in the meat case is so good...tastes just like the steak my father used to get from the Butcher when we were kids...[and that was in the fifties and sixties!! LOL...The meat here has flavor and is top quality. If you want meat from Mexico or Argentina or wherever they get it from...go to Dave's or Stop&Shop...and good luck! read more

My husband and I love to get our meat here. We got a beautiful prime rib roast which was so flavorful. They have jumbo chicken wings which they will separate for you at no charge. Also, we can find our pork belly at a good price if you purchase the whole belly and they again will slice with no extra charge. This is our go to place for good tasting, good value meats. I found this meat market through my son. He lives in Warwick. I live in Portsmouth but it is so worth coming here. You can get everything to order. The meat is great and very good prices. The stuffed pork chops and stuffed chicken breasts are wonderful. The meatballs and sausage are so good! Bill, the butcher, will cut any steaks, roasts, pork, etc, the exact way you want. I went in today looking to make a simple dinner. A ribeye, and a potato, were on my list. There were no ribeyes in the front cooler, and the lady who has been working there for years, called from the back. Can I help you. She was just preparing steaks to be put out front. She brought three steaks for me to pick from. Now thats customer service! I could easily go across the street to S&S. This was perfect for me. I recommend SLM to every one. read more
