After temporary therapy, I was told to go through pre-op testing which involved lab testing, an EKG with a cardiologist and review by my primary physician. Once cleared I reported back to Dr. Ghauri who said they would get authorization from the insurance company. I was surprised as I expected to have authorization before the pre-op tests. Two weeks later I called the office as I hadn't heard from them. I was told that the procedure was denied by my insurance company. They said they had left me a voicemail, which I never received. The office should have contacted the insurance company before they required me to go through all the pre-op tests. My time with this practice was a waste.

Dr Marina Protopapas, who has been featured on NBC, was first referred by my chiro Chris Bruno and since then she and her team (fortunately Chris Van Zoeren has been there for 3 years) have been managing my pain levels working with my chiro. She is really busy but takes thee time to explain the procedure to you and/or your family members attending on what /why the procedure is being done. So does Chris. Once in the procedure room, she is ably assisted by Joseph Turay, music is played, I look away from the needle and her calm voice is letting you know what you will be feeling and when. Once over, she makes certain before you leave, you feel stable and will answer any questions (for example I show her exercise machines safe for my back). An amazing Doctor who also relies on Chris's determination on what procedure should be tried. The Office is managed by Andrea who meets, greets patiently with a cheery smile and Ms. Rashna is really helpful to get you checked in, make follow-up appointments and help with following up. I know there are more staff and all are very helpful. I make the trip at least once every month from Ashburn to Fair Oaks but it is well worth the time to have excellent care.

Please follow his advise and you will be back to living your life and being yourself again. Not all conditions and people respond the same way to medications and he works to find the most appropriate healthplan and medications that will work best for you. Dr. Greene is a kind soul and born to be a doctor. In this day and age with much regulations doctors have to monitor and this practice takes that seriously. I wish I had the right insurance or funds to self pay and be able to see him again. He's the best pain management provider I've been treated by. He also has a highly talented and educated staff working with him. I'm no stranger to pain. I was a heptathlete from age 10 to 24 and twenty plus years later have much arthritis throughout my spine knee and shoulders to show for it. I've survived 2 car crashes into my car and a moving truck collision headon into a tree during a bad storm in which I suffered broken teeth and severe soft tissue injuries, sjc joint dislocation and vertebral strains that took over a year to treat and still being treated. I've had about 12 surgeries over the years to include my back and knee. So I understand pain from patient's perspective very well and how it can take over your life. I understand pain because of my Masters degree in biology: molecular science. Dr. Greene knows how what to do to get you back to your goals. I hope you will get to be seen by Dr. Greene. I find the front desk personnel to be on point and they treat you like a person, more than the patient more than a number. This is a specific field of medicine which is very dynamic because of course it's dealing with pain and pain is subjective to each individual. It is understandable why someone might leave a negative review because no one likes being in pain. It's a very sensitive balance. At my appointments we have explored options such as acupuncture and injections for carpal tunnel among other treatment options. The two doctors that I've seen I've asked them "Hey have you ever had acupuncture done? Did it help?" and I get an honest answer and that means a lot. I highly recommend this practice because I've dealt with others that don't treat you like your a person. I found the staff to be very sympathetic and eager to assist in responsible pain management. I appreciate the staff and the medical professionals there and I thank them for their service.

They really don't come much better than Dr. Kendall…read more I've been a patient for almost 7 years now and there simply aren't enough words to adequately express my gratitude for the care and compassion he's shown me. I've found him very knowledgeable in his specialty and yet able and more than willing to explain a diagnosis or treatment in basic terms without being the slightest bit condescending. I've never felt rushed during an appointment or that I had anything but his complete attention. One of the best things about Dr. Kendall is his bedside manner and sense of humor. While no one ever wants to come to the doctor's office and there's sometimes a bit more pain before relief during treatments, he makes patients feel comfortable and you can tell he cares about their well being. He also understands that pain management means more than just pain relief - taking the time to understand the impact pain is having on his patient's quality of life and what activities the patient most wants to return to. He works to restore as much normalcy and activity to one's life as possible. I like that I'm active participant in deciding my treatment, often presented with options and information about them to make an informed decision as to how I wish to proceed. Should there come a situation where Dr. Kendall feels he's not the best to proceed, I like that I'm not referred off into the abyss. When one of my discs decided it no longer was content living between the vertebrae it was assigned, I landed in the ER. Already having a doctor treating me for back issues, the ER doctor called Dr Kendall to confer about treatment. A day (and MRI) later, I hobbled into Dr. Kendall's office to follow up. He reviewed my MRI and immediately let me know that I'd need surgery - at which point I'm sure my eyes got as big as saucers and I probably had panic written all over my face. But I wasn't just sent on my way with a referral slip. Dr. Kendall reassuringly said "Its OK. I'm going to send you to the person I'd go to if I needed surgery for this. But if I just give you a referral, it will take you a month to get an appointment." Then he reached over, picked up his cell phone and called the orthopedic surgeon himself. An hour later I was sitting in front of the surgeon for a consult and 4 days later had emergency surgery to reduce the ruptured disk. After a bit of recovery, I was back with Dr. Kendall resuming my regular treatment for my other back issues. He made what had the potential to be an extremely terrifying experience seem almost calm and routine. The physician assistants (PAs) and procedure assistants that Dr. Kendall selects to help him provide treatment are all great as well. All of them are very friendly and pleasant to work with, and I like that they stay with him for a long time so you don't have to deal with new people every few visits. Note: This review is for Dr. Kendall himself. I talked to the Suboxone prescriber again and told him the whole story. He then agreed Suboxone is not what I need. I'm not an addict. I need medication because I've tried everything else. Now Dr Kendall refuses to prescribe me anything. It looks like I have a long miserable road ahead. I also had to quit both of my jobs due to no pain relief. Just be very careful what you do and who you talk to. Don't make my mistake.

He is the reason why I am not in a wheelchair and/or bedridden. He is the reason why I retired with time instead of disability. He is the reason why I can watch my grandchildren and, I was able to travel to Japan to see my family. I had surgery years ago. The residuals are DDD and other back/hip/leg conditions. This capitulated the need for myriad amounts of physical therapy, prednisone, and other modalities that rendered short lived success. It was very depressing to experience what I thought was the end of my career that I truly loved, and the end of my quality of life, even though I am a positive person. I worked 50-60 hours (or more) as a civilian program manager for a Federal law enforcement agency. Not only was the commute grueling, I sat for several hours at my desk (and intermittently stood for 1.5 hours or more as I organized, created training materials, and provided training seminars). I would not have been able to successfully perform my duties without Dr. Balint. I found out about Dr. Balint via LEO's who received successful treatment from him whom I saw recover completely. When I could barely walk and I was, yet again, in incessantly horrendous pain, I made an appointment. I am so very glad I listened to them because they were absolutely right! Dr. Balint's epidermal blocks are always in point. After the nerve blocks, I almost forgot my cane!! I had not felt that great for years!! The nerve blocks last from 9 months to 1 year. I have grandkids and I am pretty active with them. Since I have retired from work, I try to help my daughters by babysitting & helping the grandkids with their homework. Dr. Balint and his staff have always been very professional, approachable, and always make my day brighter! I thank God for him every time I wake up and I am able to function. I don't know what I would do without Dr. Balint!
