The food is just ok, NOTHING to rave or cry about. The staff on the other hand is the reason I will NEVER return (not even for a free meal). They weren't rude, they could just NOT care less...AT ALL! When I went, the place was empty (not a single customer...not 1). The cashier just seemed annoyed that we came in and had a couple of questions (first time visiting (and the last)). The food was a tad pricey, but I was only had a few minutes and was starving. When I was finished, I asked (with tray in hand) where to put the trash. Instead of just taking it, she looked at me and scoffed "Just leave it there! We'll get it.". Lady, if I knew that, do you think I would have walked it to the counter? And seeing as though I did, why not just take it and let me know for the future (not that there will be one). Conveniently located in the inner harbor, D&D's has a good selection of typical deli sandwiches and salads. They get pretty busy at lunch time, so be sure to call ahead so you can walk in and pick up your food without waiting in line. Just sharing another great experience at David & Dad's. This place is the best! Our business, located about two blocks away, decided we all felt like getting some great D&D for lunch. I put in a carryout order, for our group of 13 -- all individual orders -- at 12:00 pm (our bad I know, but we couldn't get ourselves coordinated any earlier). D&D had it individually bagged, marked with names, and ready for our pickup at 1:00. That is remarkable and terrific customer service. Everything was delicious. Explored my new neighborhood and stumbled upon this gem. Cute breakfast spot situated in a really classy looking old bank. Staff was super friendly and ordering was easy because you place your order at the front and they give you a number to place on your table of choice. It's a personal touch when David himself works with you over the phone and via email, you know there is heart going into each order. It's a nice looking restaurant in the heart of downtown. Staff was friendly, facilities were spotlight, and my dad liked their pastrami sandwich. My main issue is that I waited 25 minutes for a basic sandwich, while I watched other customers who came after me, get their food first. When I brought it up, one of the managers was nice, but I was never offered a discount, something to drink, etc. This would have been a nice way to express their regret. Instead, once the sandwich came out, they just acted like nothing happened. I'm hoping this was just a one-time hiccup. We will try them again, and update this review accordingly. read more

Would rate 0. Had a very rude and nasty encounter with one of the employees on the road. The employee cut me off in traffic then pulled up next to me and gave me the finger then sped off. At next light I rolled my window down to say I'm reporting you and was told "I am the owner BITCH!" I was baffled. I called to report the insodent and spoke to the owner Dave and was treated like a bother. Absolute dick about the whole thing. Must be their favorite employee because he basically took up for her. Of course she called in trying to get her story in first ( which was twisted) because she seen me taking a picture of her van and knew I would call in. Now what reason do I have to lie. I don't know the company or the lady. I get absolutely nothing out of it but feeling upset for being disrespected. I was simply notifying the company of their employees actions and got no resolution. Can't compliment their catering enough. I ordered from them a few months ago via Foodify, and despite that limitation, they cheerfully accommodated some last-minute changes, for which I was extremely grateful. This time I ordered directly through their website and it was even easier. Delivery was just a few minutes early, and very helpful in arranging the food in a limited space. In the past, I've catered meetings from a couple of other places, and despite it being the same amount and kind of food (sandwiches and wraps, chips, pickles, Caesar salad, fruit salad) at about the same price point, David & Dad's clearly does it better. I always have tons of leftovers from other caterers, but with them, I had people filling their plates and coming back for more. Although that's a tragedy for the folks on my floor who get to scavenge the leftovers, I'm far more concerned with making the people at my meetings happy! read more

Came here while attending Jury Duty. Ordered the "BALT" classic BLT with Avocado. Sanwhich took about 5 mins to come out. I quickly noticed that my sandwich had slim to no avocado. Not even a full slice on half of my sandwich and none on the other half. I politely called the server over and asked if if I could have a little more avocado as I didn't have any on the second part of my sandwich. She she says of course no problem. About 2 mins later she returns to let me know that they only give 1-2 to slices and that if I would like more I would need to pay $1.50. I asked her could I have my second slice she said it would cost $1.50. Terrible just terrible. Don't bother ordering the "BALT" as you will not receive any avocado....stick to the basics and order the BLT. Will not be back. read more

I've been a patron at David and Dads for years. Their food is normally solid and has a decent turn around time. My review is based on my customer service experience, which is a big thing for me when it comes to restaurants. Today, after listening to their listed specials on their recording, I ordered a Farmer's Breakfast Wrapper over the phone, which comes with eggs, meat, cheese, peppers, onion, and home fries in a wrap. I asked for no meat and was told that they could supplement with additional onions and peppers. The woman on the phone was very nice and read back to me that there would be no meat and extra veggies. I picked up my wrapper at and took it to go. However, when I went to eat it, it was only scrambled eggs, peppers, and onions. I called because I was concerned about the lack of cheese. I was put on hold and no one came back. I hung up and called again, also realizing that the home fries were missing. As it turns out, there is a Breakfast Wrapper (BW), which is different from the Farmers Breakfast Wrapper (FBW). BWs don't come with home fries or veggies. Turns out, the person who took my order wrote BW and not FBW. I believe that I said FBW because I ordered directly after hearing the special (which is the FBW). I didn't even know the BW existed as an option, but I can understand where a mix up would happen between a customer who is unaware of two closely named wraps and the person taking a modified order. But let's get to my actual issue: the woman I dealt with on the phone (while explaining my grievance) was defensive, was unapologetic that (regardless of whether I ordered a FBW or a BW) it was lacking cheese, and provided no solution to the fact that I was hungry and stuck with an unappealing wrap. She eventually offered me a 60 cent credit for no cheese, which is ridiculous because HEY, STILL HUNGRY. And refused to make me a new wrap because breakfast was over and making a new breakfast wrap would contaminate the grill. When I questioned whether nothing could be done to resolve my unwanted wrap she said maybe tomorrow. I declined. She finally apologized and we hung up. So here's my thing: being defensive, particularly when I wasn't attacking the young lady who took my order, is a waste. Providing no resolution, be it a similarly priced lunch option or a breakfast option that won't contaminate, is a waste. And creating this negative feeling after I JUST convinced a co-worker to try David and Dads, is a waste (because I then went back to her and complained). Again, their food is solid and honestly their people are normally great, but this really left me upset... and still hungry -_- read more

OK, so i am definitely coming back to this sweet, lovely deli. Not only did i come in here for a quick smoothy and plan to leave, but then my surgery that I Was supposed to be covering got pushed about....5 hours! This wonderful cafe has free high speed wifi (i started watching Orange is the New Black) but no one bothered me or even asked if i was going to buy anything else after about 3 hours! NOT TO MENTION THE ORDERING PROCESS! This place first will make your food, bring it out to you and then before you leave you pay for your meal, drink or whatever. In the North, this kind of hospitatlity is not seen very often and i was pleasantly surprised and impressed. These things were both the case for my smoothy and three hours later, my lunch. Go here. My companions had waffles, pancakes and coffee. Food was simple but good. This cafe is set in the repurposed interior of a former bank, with high ceilings, great light, and intricate details. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are not waiters, so you must order at the counter, but they will give you a plastic card with a number on it that can be perched in the stands atop the purpose-built condiment containers on each table, and your food will be brought to you. Beverages are self-service, and the meal is paid for after you are done. It is an unusual setup, and relies rather a bit upon the honor system, but it works. The food is quite good, and the portions are generous without being gluttonous. Special kudos for the tasty scrapple - an underappreciated breakfast delicacy! We've been wanting to come here for some time, but the barrier was that they hadn't been open on weekends - well, not until now, anyway. Yeah, this was on our bucket list, as I recall, so we took a walk up there, and we're both glad that we did. I ordered a #3 breakfast special - two eggs, potatoes, sausage patty and toast, while Sweet Husband Mine decided on a short stack of pancakes and bacon. Oh, and coffee. Lots and lots and lots of coffee. The counter folks were really nice, greeting us as if we were old friends. I immediately felt at home. Oh, did I mention that the food was delicious? I didn't? Our orders were cooked to perfection, just the way we wanted them done. Now, the breakfast itself isn't really remarkable - it's eggs and toast and pancakes. Kind of hard to make them stand out, especially. But the coffee was sublime. Oh, man. Try the hazelnut. Sub.... lime. Our breakfast was only 14 dollars for two - now if that's not a bargain in usually overpriced downtown Baltimore, what is?
