David Copperfield achieved things as an illusionist that are so hard to grasp. I have always admired his amazing talents and still do. But, The recent performance we went to was more disappointing than thrilling. Way too much time about cell phones, the whole story arc about his father was endearing, but not what we paid to see. The whole story arc about the alien from space or the future was pointless and a waste of our time. More problematic was David's disengagement with the audience. He basically speed read through his "lines" and seemed for much of the show that he'd rather be anywhere else. It seems clear to this audience member that it's time for him to retire. read more

What can I say, I'm sadden by this review. David Copperfield is a childhood bucket list person to see and man it was disappointing. Like most of the reviews here, he was not doing too many illusions (magic) but more so trying to tell a fictional story about his dad, an alien and going back and into the future. Some of the illusions that he did, would leave you in awe but it wasn't what anyone would expect. For price there's a ton of better options out there. What an experience. What a outdated, dull, and total ear damaging experience. From a little girl, I have always wanted to see David Copperfield's show. I had the chance this week on a business trip to Las Vegas. I was able to get a good ticket for that same night (still close to $200.00 btw), and was very much excited all day and could not wait until 9:30pm came around. Thinking it was at the MGM, it was going to be an amazing production. I was thinking Ka' level production. I was thinking putting David in with a production team like that would be amazing. I guess it was just a dream, and I known I should not have built it up as high as I did. Outside the theater entrance, all the staff was very warm and friendly. The overall theater presentation was nice, the lines were not too horrible. The food was expensive, so I chose to grab something to eat after the show. I head someone say $20 for popcorn while I was in line, so I avoid the whole food thing. The theater itself was beautiful, clean, and continued to be a very nice presentation. I was very pleased how comfortable the seats were, and inviting the whole experience was at that moment. So there is there is at least one star for the review right there. ... and then the show began .. before David was even on the stage, just looking at his stage hands and crew, they looked so warn-down (and maybe underpaid), I felt awful. I can tell they have done this job thousands of times of the same stuff over and over again. I think one of them had his eyes closed while he was putting up and taking down props. (it was late too, and I am sure he was tired). They push the message of not using your phone or even having it out over and over again at you, there is even guys walking down the isles over and over holding a sign saying no phones. Don't get me wrong, I get it. I know there are people that will always see what they can get away with, and feel the rules do not apply to them.... still, I felt like I was in grade school again. I had to think for a moment on how to write this next part without, sounding/reading like a Karen. I feel, that if you are under the age of 16, a young at heart adult, or had a lot to drink before the show started... then this show is for you. Let me clarify. If you like outdated (or non-believable) props, baby Yoda, a story of David's past with his father, and animatronics.... with a touch of a few good magic tricks every now and then.... then you will love this show. You can instantly tell David is getting bord and tired doing the same show over and over again. Many times I feel he may have not even been talking into the microphone and it felt to be pre-recorded dialog. At this point, I was still okay with the show because I have never seen it before, and was going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Here is why the show went from four stars to one. I went to school for audio engineering, and my job is working with cinema and high-end homes in the movie space. My ears working at their best are my job, my passion, and my life. Having over 14 years in just the audio industry alone should tell anyone reading this I have skin in the game on this next part. The show is just way too loud. Not to get all technical and science on you, but we should be listing to sounds and music no more than 79dB. Anything 85dB or higher for as little as 30min will cause permanent hearing damage and loss. Every show I go to I measure the dB level... 80% of David's show was over 90db and topped out at 104dB. The whole time at the show, I was plugging my ears up with my fingers.... and was about to walk out. Not at all a good experience. I am sorry David, your show was the most uncomfortable show I have been to in Las Vegas so far. When I told one of the managers this on the way out, he seemed that he did not care. Pro Tip: Got an Apple Watch? Look for the built in app on the watch called "Noise" Use this app every time you are at a show, and check the levels. Put the shortcut on the watch face to quickly check. If you like to listen to music, or just want to hear the world.... take care of your hearing. There is no current medical way to fix it if you damage it. Good luck to you if you go see it. (bring ear plugs) read more

We were really excited to see David Copperfield but our excitement quickly turned to disappointment. This show is old and dated and really staged. At times it was also confusing. David is very difficult to understand as he speaks softly and often mumbles. The whole show seemed like a high school talent show. Before the show began, my husband and I, along with everyone else in the front row were asked to sign their first name on a large folded piece of paper. We figured there would be a big reveal at the end of the show explaining why we signed our names. There was no explanation given. I'm assuming it was the paper David holds up at the end of the show that has everything written on it that happened during the show. They also emailed the "Big Reveal" to everyone's phones, which you have to put in a wooden box on the table in front of you before the show. The big reveal is a stock photo of David holding the paper with all that happened in the show. The photo we were emailed shows the same answers as another photo someone else posted on Yelp. It's obvious that the random audience members he chooses for the show are plants. When they are brought up on stage everyone seems to know exactly where to stand. That would not happen if they were truly randomly chosen. Save your money and don't go to this show. I wish I had read the other reviews beforehand. I would have saved about $300. read more

My wife and I saw David Cooperfield last night. It was the worse show that we saw in Las Vegas. The overall storyline is about his love for his father, but the supporting illusions and commentary were poorly written and not interesting for effects. The limited attempts for comedic effect fell flat with the audience, generating little to no laughs. The show itself seems very dated, and the pace was very slow. He appeared to be just going through the motions, with no emotional connection with audience. Very disappointed, and we were not alone as we heard many comments as we walked out of the show. Perhaps he was great earlier in his career, but he seemed totally out of touch. Sad to see a good performer past his prime. I would not recommend anyone see this show. If you high entertainment, go she Chris Angel. His show is amazing, energetic, engaging, magical, great music, and great effects with magic. read more

Sound system was terrible. Couldn't understand 80% of the dialogue. He had no showmanship. I saw him 10 yrs ago and he was amazing. Dressed like a shlump. The yoda part was totally boring. The man's is a legend, and since we're in town there wasn't really a choice: let's catch him while we can. Last time in town we saw Rich Little (RICH LITTLE, people!!! Look him up!!) and this seemed like the same homage visit to see one of the greats. Not much magic. A cloying, maudlin story about his (fake) father and an alien. A couple of neat large-scale appearances. LOTS of mumbling and unintelligible explication. And, since so much of the show was a setup, or reliant on plants, there wasn't a moment of awe - just a lot of "oh, that wasn't a coincidence." Contrast: Penn (& Teller) are easy to understand, have interesting patter, and keep you engaged. There's some real magic happening there - like the overwhelming beauty of Teller's fishbowl illusion. I could watch that a dozen more times, and will. But Copperfield's show was cheap. It didn't live up to his past. The best answer is to stop it before it hurts his legacy, painting him as a has-been, or revamp it into something 1) audible 2) engaging and 3) comprehensive of his career. Instead - you want a legend? Someone who subbed for Carson on the Tonight show? Who played at BOTH of Reagan's presidential inaugurations? Who's still killing it? Get tix for Rich Little (less than $40!). read more

Lots of "magic" happening with David in the middle of the theater - and unique interactivity with the side rows...perfect venue. Won't complain too much as I did not pay for the tickets. But if I did pay for them I would have been disappointed. I never saw David Copperfield and was excited thinking there would be a lot of illusions and magic. Wrong... he brings people up on stage but not really sure why as they don't do anything other than stand there as a distraction (my husband was one of them). I don't want to give too much away in case you choose to see it but just be prepared that there is a strict no cell policy, no bathrooms and no bar inside the venue. It is small. He is still pretty entertaining and the illusions were cool but it was kind of a weird show. read more

It was super cheesy, could not hear most of what David Copperfield says, David Copperfield seemed so uninterested in performing, it made me lose interest. He needs to retire! He may have been a great illusionist when I was younger but I was super disappointed in his show. This show was so weird that I left confused at the end and i felt like he was a little demented. Really wanted to like this show and was looking forward to it. The last time I saw David Copperfield live, I was a kid, and he blew our minds by flying through the air in SF. Fast forward to tonight...he seemed tired, uninterested, and appeared to be just going through the motions and awkwardly snapped at several members of the audience for not understanding his instructions. At some times, he even cursed at them because they were visiting from Europe and didn't understand his instructions. His temper and impatience for the crowd was painful to watch. Even more awkward was when he was talking about how he regrets ignoring his dad during the years when he was famous. It got really depressing for several minutes. I think it's cool when performers share personal stories about themselves, but this guy needs to be more selective about what to share. I paid $100 per person for 5 people to come and be entertained. Instead, this bit left me depressed...damn man, for $500? I didn't pay $500 so I can feel like crap. Also, many of the tricks were old, but with new props. The show was really slow paced and he didn't do that many tricks, really. The show was quite sad. The whole time, I was wondering when he would pull something new out of the proverbial hat and at the same time also wondering when it would all be over. What's up with the puppet that was introduced from out of nowhere. Perhaps he was trying to make a family-friendly show? No, not really, because the puppet was like an awkwardly perverted alien grandpa. Hmmm...feels like the puppet was brought in for the mere purpose of extending the length of the show so it would last an hour and a half. It just didn't fit with the show. My wife and I decided to see David Copperfield in Las Vegas because he's an icon. I didn't really know what to expect. I was a little shocked by what I saw. First, the positive: there were 3 really impressive illusion acts during the show: the disappearance of a car, the appearance of a flying saucer, and the appearance of a robotic dinosaur. There were other illusion/magic acts that were good but not oh, wow, that's amazingly good. The reason for the 3 stars was David Copperfield himself. He was very low-energy, he mumbled his words which surprised me given the number of years he's been on stage. And he had difficulty climbing steps. He also seemed to have something under his shirt which at first I thought was a contraption to discreetly communicate with his team. But when I saw the difficulty he had climbing steps and walking with a strong gait it dawned on me that he was wearing some kind of brace. It may also explain his perceived low energy and mumbling of words: maybe he's on pain pills. It was a good, not great show. And seeing David Copperfield like that was a little sad. While I never saw Elvis's final shows in Vegas I did see videos of them: the great rocker, now lethargic and out of shape. I left the show thinking that David Copperfield's best days were far behind him. read more

We saw the show back at the end of December. The show itself was very fun and my mom got chosen to participate in one of David's tricks. David was very patient with my mom who isn't good at English and had trouble understanding what he was asking her to do. The trick had something to do with her naming a celebrity and he got a poster of Elvis to appear (she chose Elvis). We also got the poster signed as well as a backstage meet and greet afterwards because she participated during the show. All that was great but left a bad aftertaste when his name came up in major ways the next week when the Epstein court docs got released and now he also has the new allegations. It really seems like his name pops up one too many times in these kinds of things. Even during the show, some of his jokes were really edging on sexual harassment, the alien that features in the show called my mom "smoking hot" when she was participating and David also made a small penis joke about one of the other audience members that participated. read more

Was excited to see the show however it was a big disappointment and waste of time. There were few illusions and mainly story telling. The jokes were crude and he just spoke in monotone as if he were just reading something. At one point when telling about his Father, he threw up the Illuminati sign with his hands, had everyone in the audience copy him telling them it "was his fathers symbol of love" and to hold the sign they were making with their hands to their heart and believe. Good show, by the way. However, audio was terrible... David was difficult to hear most of the fine, and occasionally was not able to be understood at all. I went to see David Copperfield's Magic show Saturday night. David is a wonderful entertainer. The price of the ticket was reasonable for a show of that quality, and David was funny, exciting and very magical. The theater is high quality and I think the view of the stage is fine no matter where you sit. I had fine seats and saw everything in detail. The "Usher" staff is friendly and helpful, bringing us easily to our seats. Even if you are not a huge fan of magic, David will entertain you with his intriguing plot that tells a poignant story. From his opening walk out, to the last large and surprising illusion, he will keep you guessing as to what will happen next. I highly recommend the David Copperfield magic show. read more
