This happened to me where I waited in the lobby for 20 minutes trying to get a hold of front desk (which they don't have). The staff at the hotel let me know that this happens often and there wasn't anything they could do. I gave up waiting and went back home. 3 hours past my originally appointment, they texted to reschedule. I rescheduled deep tissue massage the same day and confirmed with them the time. I go there for the second time and to your guess no one is there AGAIN. James was my massage therapist and I started to raise concerns of James qualification as a licensed massage therapist. I've had many massages and the way he undraped me was very inappropriate. It already made me feel uncomfortable. Not to mentioned, he left a bruise on my back the following day! My friends are massage therapist and they said the muscle he was working which is where the bruise is located- is a tender spot. You are NOT suppose apply a lot of pressure in that area. I also asked him to perform a different method because all of his moves were just the same repeated simple movements and he proceed to the same simple movements any average joe could have done. In another instance, he used all his body weight towards my body that was way too close to my bottom rib. I honestly think I was going to go home with broken ribs..I was really confused what kind of massage I was getting.. This isn't the WWE?! I didn't find the massage to have any technicality to it just the same o' movements. I was in touch with Eva, who seems to be the owner of Faris, and told her my experience at her spa. I mean the lack. of. customer. service. wow. She tried to argue that the bruise is not from the massage. Nothing was resolved in our conversation. I had the same membership experience as a previous reviewer - do NOT get their membership! It is extremely difficult to cancel and I had to straight up get a new card just so this spa would stop charging me. I told them 3 months ago that I wanted to cancel and they acknowledged it, and never actually canceled my account. I honestly don't care that there is a cancellation fee, I was happy to pay it, because the fee would've saved me money rather than them continuing to charge me. I also had the same experience as others, where they cancel or try to reschedule you last minute. Their only saving grace is the massage staff - Jennifer and Scott were great. Wow! Jennifer is magical. I feel like I should go back and tip her more. My back feels amazing and my skin is very radiant and glowy. You enter the hotel lobby and it's straight down the hall on the right hand side. The spas lobby chairs could use a carpet shampoo or remodel, as they are fairly stained and it almost de-values the place. My services, however were comparable to the Fairmont hotels and better than the Ritz Carlton! Attached you will find pictures. Including WiFi password. Frais is a one of a kind spa. I have had massages here and every single time, I have never left disappointed. All the massage therapist have different techniques and have always met my needs. The spa is located in the O Hotel in DTLA. The owner is very nice. I would recommend Valerie for focusing on certain areas of concern and also Michelle who did my service today. I had such a great experience today (May 13, 2021)! The Spa smells so fresh and beautiful the moment you walk in. I was greeted kindly by the staff and filled out the form about the services, add-ons, health checks etc. She took my temperature at the door (they are doing a great job with following COVID protocols). Everyone is wearing masks. My Hubby booked the Massage/Facial package for me as a Mother's Day gift and I was so deeply relaxed. Service: The room was cozy and quiet. I had fresh sheets, towels, and a robe provided for me. I opted for two add-ons: Hot Stone Massage and 24K Gold Facial They were both worth it! The masseuse did a great job of periodically checking for my comfort and getting the kinks out of my tired bones The hot stones were adjusted to a temperature comfortable for my skin (which they also check to make sure you're comfortable with those too), and I felt like a million bucks. The oil used has a very light scent and leaves your skin so supple and silky. The facial service was equally superb! They start out by steaming your skin to open the pores and it's followed with an extraction and deep cleaning. The thirty minutes (sadly) flew by! I've been to Frais Spa three different times and the service is so inconsistent. The first time I went I got a massage that was just okay. I decided to give this place a second try almost a year later and had a great massage with Jannet. I was so excited to finally find the right massage therapist that I booked another appointment with her a month or so later but decided to treat myself and add an express facial as well. My experience with the massage and facial was mediocre at best. When I arrived I waited 10 minutes for Jannet to prepare for my service. This cut into my service time. When we started, the massage was rushed--I assume this was because she had to do my facial. She asked if there were areas she could specifically work on before the massage and I told her my neck. I informed her that I had slept wrong and would like her to focus there. She didn't spend much time on my neck and it still hurt after the massage. As for the facial, it was rushed, below average and not relaxing. It seemed as if she had not prepared before the service so she was running around the room getting the products together, rinsing things and moving machines the entire time. She also went through the entire facial without explaining what she was using in my face. At the end of the facial, she applied what felt like a light serum but didn't apply sunscreen. Good thing I brought my own because it was around noon when I left. I expressed my concerns with the front desk before leaving, especially the fact that my neck still hurt and she said they will do better next time. I'm not sure there will be a next time. The waiting experience is also inconsistent. The first time I went I was told to wait in the waiting area for my massage therapist. I wasn't asked to change or given a robe. When the massage therapist took me to the room, she asked me to change there. The second time, I was given a locker in the bathroom and a robe and slippers to change into. The third time, I wasn't given anything and was asked to wait in the waiting room. read more
