I recently moved to Miami and needed to get a regular check-up (routine cleaning etc.). I found this place via the website of my dental insurance. I scheduled an appointment but they neglected to tell me that they had moved locations. Google maps still shows that they are located at their old/vacated location. Wasted a good portion of my Friday finding their old office only to be told by the receptionist that they had moved and she had forgotten to tell me. Rescheduling was not a problem but I should have known better.
All of the equipment is very antiquated. They had multiple problems with their X-ray machine software. The machine which controlled the air and water for teeth cleaning looks to be from the 1980's and was not even functioning properly; the water hose was not working so the technician had to wipe my teeth with gauze instead of rinsing them with water. When I wanted to rinse, I had to get up and go to a sink when I actually wanted to rinse with water/mouthwash. The technician mentioned that because of how busy/overbooked they were, she did not have an assistant to help her with some of the procedures. Since there was no tray table, she had to put all of the instruments on my chest bib when she was not using them. She also did not seem to be very skilled in cleaning. I still have some plaque on my teeth and she hit/stabbed my gums way too many times with the tools which resulted in excessive bleeding. However, I did receive free fluoride treatment (which, with my previous dentist, was included in the treatment, not here). This was also an antiquated treatment. In the past, I've had this administered with either the fluoride-filled trays or a simple mouth rinse. Here, it consists of squirting some fluoride paste on a towel and randomly rubbing it on with a Q-tip.
Finally, the dentist came in. He seemed relatively knowledgeable and nice but went a little overboard on his doom and gloom speech about how I would need some invasive/expensive surgery in the near future. I explained that my previous dentist (who I have been seeing for the last 20 years, most recently this past summer) did not have the same opinion. He recommended I come back soon. I think I'll go somewhere else next time.
Overall, with wait time, the entire ordeal took about 2 hours. I will add that all of the staff and the dentist were very nice people and apologetic about the wait time. However, based on the lack of updated and/or properly functioning equipment and the lack of personnel they have available, it seems like this dental practice is more focused on making a profit than improving the quality of dental care for its patients. I'd go elsewhere for my dental needs if I were you. read more
