My parents are Nevada residents and got an annual ticket subscription package - through this they were able to get free tickets for my boyfriend and I to see David Goldrake's Imaginarium show. We didn't expect much, and walking in it is a smaller theater (for Vegas), and the seats were only about 30% full for their Saturday 7pm show. We had fun, and the show had entertainment value. His tricks were well done, but my boyfriend and I were able to figure out pretty much all of them except one (and we are by no means magic experts or anything). The acrobatics show during the midway point was probably the most genuinely impressive part of the show! Just don't expect anything mind-blowing (you really do get what you pay for in Vegas) and you can have fun at this show! read more

His ability to talk to even the youngest audience member and make them feel respected and valued, all the while blowing them away with his magic is really something to see. Seen this show 3 times already. As with any magic show what makes it good are at least 3 things in my opinion. 1. The Assistants/Dancers/Sideshow Performers Not only does David have a couple of good looking female assistants, they are also a part of the sideshow performance part. The males themselves looked pretty hot (no homo). They all have their own segment in which they each show their own individual talent. This happens after David does a major trick that he needs time to rest so this time frame is perfect. 2. Props/Illusions/Stage/Location Show is located inside the Tropicana Showroom which is in the Tropicana Hotel and Casino. Based on my observance I am guessing the showroom seats about 200. Of course you have the VIP sections up front and just right behind them. The rest of the seats are slightly elevated kind of like stadium seating. The stage itself is wide and large enough for the acts to be performed efficiently. Lastly, the lighting, light projections, sound effects and music were all on point. 3. The Headliner Every magician has their own style. To me there are only two styles I can judge them by. Either they have passion and charisma for their craft or its just another day at the office. Well, David definitely has the charisma and passion. Based on all 3 of the shows I attended it was hard to tell if it was his first show or his 50th. He is very cordial. He even has a meet n greet after the show where you can have your picture taken with him. Now you may ask what magician does not have the passion or charisma? That's easy. Criss Angel. Do not waste your money seeing his show. Even if somebody gave you free tickets do not go. Your time IS money and you will not get those 90 minutes back. Overall the show is great for all ages and is definitely worth the money. It's just that you cant take any pictures during the show. If any of the ushers even see you looking at your phone they will rudely tell to put it away or step out of the theater to conduct your business. Who likes magic? We do! That's why we went to check out imaginarium. This is a fun show to see with the family. David Goldrake is entertaining and his magic is impressive. He makes the show a personal experience by sharing something from his childhood and ending the show with a heartfelt message. I also loved how he let some of the kids participate in the show. Our kids were amazed at some of the tricks and absolutely scared when the lady in the box got cut in half but were relieved when they saw she was ok. This was the first magic show that my kids have seen and I think it was the perfect show for them. Thanks for a great show. Now for the Tropicana theater. We sat in the booth up front and though they were comfortable, if you sat in the bad spot, you won't have a view of the stage. The regular seat look comfy. The armrest go up if you want to snuggle with the person next to you. I liked how the servers come over and ask if you want anything to drink. read more

Well, I had zero expectations going into this show, and less when he began "presenting himself" in huge, cartoon-like gestures, but then the actual show began... When he asked for volunteers, my husband and I stepped up. Right in front of my eyes, the magic took place, and I haven't a clue as to how. I guess that is why they call it magic. It went on from there and thoroughly entertained and tricked us. You'll note that I am being very vague about the specific tricks, and that is to not take away from his act. I will add that you should find out in advance exactly WHERE the venue is, because that may have been the only tricky part that we did not enjoy. We could have paid quadruple the ticket price and seen another magic act, but I sincerely doubt the magic would have been any better. All 4 of us that went together concur: Go see this show. The show was awesome! I took my 8 and 6 year old kids and we had seats in section 102 row B. Excellent view! I recommend you bring a ring, hair pin and a $20 for possible audience participation. It was a fast moving, very exciting and entertaining. He has a big team compared to other shows with talent from all over the world. There is escapology, contortions and sleight of hand. David is very funny and great with the crowd. He fits in a lot of content and had great transitions. Also, buy a poster for $3.50 and he will sign it after the show. Very reasonable! We are locals and have seen many magic shows and other strip shows. This is a new favorite. read more

Really good show. Kids LOVED it. Magic, stunts, comedy and very nice staff. Only down is everyone cattle herded down the long way to pass the gift shop... I feel that caused a lot of issues with people rushing to leave while others were not paying attention to anything but their phone and slowing up the flow. David was very good. A 1st time magician goer would be in awww. Someone who knows the ins and outs of magic may figure things out quickly. Great outfits and graphics. Worth going to see. Will be a good addition to the strip and bring some life into a slower casino. Wish pics (w no flash) were allowed at any point I feel I would of been more apt to stay and get a souvenir and something signed. Over all great show. read more

This guy can make people and objects appear and disappear just like David Copperfield does at a fraction of the cost. But wait. David Copperfield had even bigger things he can make appear and disapper and DC has robots! Overall this is a decent show and if you want to see that kind if thing it check it out. I personally prefer Mike Hammer's comedy magic show. He does not have all the assistants and boxes and illusions, but Mike's show has magic and comedy combined and was so much more entertaining IMHO. read more

An entertaining and amazing assortment of illusions, with aerial acrobatics and other sides shows peppered in for set changes. David is charming and funny and does an excellent job of incorporating audience members in many of his "tricks", making us laugh, and and wonder "OMG how did he do that!?!" It was a unique performance unlike anything I have seen which included a mixture of magic, acrobatics, and comedy. David and his helpers were funny while remaining professional. Amazing magic and entertaining all around. David made an orange, lemon and egg disappear right in front of my eyes while my hands were tightly holding his, and he was not wearing a jacket to hide any props. Then he asked me to crack an egg that had a perfectly matching torn $20 bull that I had torn on stage earlier. I couldn't believe my eyes! David also performed the water torture escape trick in full view while holding his breath over 2 minutes! Evidently he's one of the most popular magicians in Europe,. Go see him before he blows up in popularity in Las Vegas once everyone figures out how absolutely amazing he is. After the show he meets with fans for autographs and pictures. The magician clearly cares and is passionate. That said, we went on a weekend, complimentary tickets, and the back of theater was empty. Compared to the Cirque show the night before, the acrobatic tricks of his side performers were clearly a step down - shaky in their poses, lacked full extension or synchronization. Mr. Goldrake's performance was creative, warm, personable, and sincere. Interacts wonderfully with the audience and introduces wonder, suspense, and humor. In a less competitive venue I believe he would be able to sell out the house? There is a magic shop (great for grandkid gifts) next door and Mr. Goldrake kindly poses for pictures after the show. I wanted to see a magic show while in Vegas so decided to check out the show. David is great and also has a few helpers 2 girls and two guys as assistants and added entertainment. They can do many acrobatic tricks which break up the magic show. I was very entertained during the show. David features many of the key illusions you would expect with disappear ending in boxes and reappearing elsewhere in the venue. The top trick is the upside down in water escape. He also does a great levitation trick at the end of the show. The show is a bit over an hour in the historic Tropicana show room. I bought cheap tickets but they let you sit pretty close to fill out the front of the theatre. Also a great show for kids. read more

Inside the Tropicana. This was my very first magic show. I though it was pretty amazing. I had purchase my tickets on Groupon and was upgraded to VIP seating as soon as we got there.. My hairpin was used for one of his act.. were he was upside down inside a water tank and chained up.. Goldrake was very active with the audience and kept everyone entertained. The disappearing and under water act was amazing. They also had mini show for when he had to do outfit change. I'm trying not to give out so much information on the show so that you can go ahead and experience it yourself. I will definitely recommend and would probably go back to take my kids. read more

This is a brand new show at the Tropicana. The theatre is quite small with plush seats similar to what you would find in a movie theatre so they were comfortable. The stage is small as well, very intimate. The cast was fantastic and I enjoy that the show wasn't solely focused on David Goldrake and his magic. The two woman dancers were contortionists and their performances were amazing! The costumes were sexy and appropriate for the circus theme he was going for. The men who performed were also good and their costumes styled well. David Goldrake was very audience focused and his tricks were typical for a magic show. Some left me wondering "oh wow how did he do that?" and some were obvious. Since it was a new show, it felt quite a bit scripted and felt a little rehearsed instead of natural. The performers' steps felt too precise. But that can be fixed with practice and time performing in front of an audience each night. Overall this is a good starter show if you've never seen a magic show on the strip before. read more

I was wondering how he did everything, looking at the stage mesmerized. Im not going to mention ANY tricks in this review. Go see the tricks for yourself and be amazed for yourself... Ok I'll talk about ONE trick briefly. Goldrake called some dude Martin on stage. And his wife Wendy. We voted for Martin to get the hell outta there!!! So Goldrake makes Martin get in some clear box, and before you know it, Martin's gone. And some buff ass Santa Clause appears for Wendy. Santa chillin w/Wendy... Sitting in their seats... Martin gone!!! Goldrake brought Martin back 40 minutes later. It was so amazing, during every trick I looked back to Wendy's seat wondering, "WHERE THE FUCK DID MARTIN GO"?!?! read more
