A friend of the family referred me and their whole family visits Dr. Le. Dana was so kind and meticulous with cleaning. I realize in NY I was receiving subpar cleaning. I have had a number of procedures done to combat my bone loss which has slowed down and stabilized my bone loss. For the teeth that died or needed to be replaced he placed implants which have all been successful. Besides that, I have experienced little pain. One of my central incisors became loose and useless after biting into toffee. Other teeth around it were not secure enough to support one implant. So all four incisors were removed, and implants were inserted and secured to canine teeth. The dentist who created the crowns remarked that she knew Kazmer did the implants because they were perfectly aligned. It was an impressive job he did, and I have had no problems in the two years I have had them. It's not just me and another local dentist. I have had the need to visit UNC Dentistry, and the professor/dentist there was happy that I went to Kazmer because he is the best! Besides his excellence, he has always been very professional along with his staff. His dental hygienists have been thorough, knowledgeable and helpful. And other staff, including office staff and financial consultants, have been top-notch. Plus Kazmer recommends prescription toothpaste which he offers at a discount!!

We arrived on time to check in at the front desk; however, due to a minor dispute regarding insurance coverage and payment installments, the receptionist consulted the manager and asked us to wait a few minutes. We ended up waiting a full half-hour before the manager finally appeared to speak with us. Throughout the entire interaction, she maintained a cold and frosty demeanor; none of the requests or questions we raised were properly addressed or clearly explained. Ultimately, she issued an ultimatum: since it was too late in the day, we would have to reschedule for a different time if we still wanted to proceed with the treatment. When we inquired with the hygienist, we were told the earliest available appointment was a month and a half away--at which point the manager coldly asked if we wished to accept that slot. This was particularly frustrating because we had visited the clinic just a week prior, had already undergone X-rays, and had even taken the prescribed pre-treatment antibiotics. Yet, due to this manager's stalling tactics, we were unable to receive our treatment today. Outraged by this turn of events, we decided to cancel all future dental appointments at this clinic. We are left wondering: was this a case of racial discrimination because of our Asian appearance? In any case, today at this dental clinic--Kazmer Periodontics & Implant Dentistry--we endured the worst experience and the most distressing ordeal imaginable!

When it came time for the exam and I explained that I was interested in the in-office whitening, the dentist was very negative about it with not wanting to set a date for an appointment because they would have to schedule it when they had sufficient office staff and that wouldn't be possible for several weeks. After completing 4 visits with the reassurance we were in-network, this ultimately was not the case and were completely misled to complete services without the knowledge of what we had been told was false. Before services, my husband and I went in for a consultation and were given a breakdown of the cost we would pay out of pocket vs what insurance would cover. There is no mention in the quote reflecting out-of-network coverage, and justifiably no reason to expect that insurance would not fully cover their portion quoted - as it matched what I expected from my "in-network coverage" - and no further reason to question any sort of setting up my own appointment after services were completed. At the first visit, we were reassured that insurance would be billed and were led to believe that this comprehensive breakdown was correct. Upon our 2nd visit, after my husband had already fully completed the appointment, I was told there was an outstanding balance - which would not be consistent with what my insurance covers in-network. I questioned the balance and was told false, misleading reasons to make me assume that it was routine to occur when paying with insurance. I was directly lied to, the true reason being that the provider was out-of-network. The provider did not offer that moral, reasonable, honest explanation that would have immediately caused me to stop future services. Why did the provider not alert me when we checked in that we had an outstanding balance from the 1st visit? Was that a tactic to allow us to complete his future appointments and in return make them more money? After paying, I walked back into the office to get another explanation why there was a balance at all. Brittney gave me a confusing open-ended answer, still leaving out the crucial component that we were out-of-network. I still felt unsure, so I called the next morning asking for clarification a third time. Brittney was rude, short, and acted like I was a bother trying to understand what was happening. Putting our faith in their answers and trusting their words, we continued to see this provider a total of 4 times which left us with an outstanding balance after insurance. This is completely outrageous and unbelievable why a business would be allowed to hold information from their customers in order to book services. After being notified of the claims, I called to confront the provider. Brittney began to speak defensively, almost as if reading off a script. Stating; "WE WERE AWARE you are out-of-network the entire time...". I was completely shocked. I was blamed, cut off from any type of resolution, just listening to a well rehearsed excuse. I do understand that the customer has a duty to confirm in-network providers - but how could I be penalized for doing so and be lied to? What reason do I have to not believe their answer? "No, you are out-of-network" was never said when I asked her to help me understand, and the audacity for them to claim so is insulting, belittling and paints the picture that there was no effort on my part to understand. Which, clearly, is not the case. Discussing with my insurance company, they made it clear to me how often these lies are told and how unfortunate it is that the provider is not "required" to tell you if you are in/out of network. That then raises the question of Huff and Huff - given you have no "requirement" to inform your clients, do you also find truth and morality to be optional? I see now why getting a clear explanation was so difficult, coming up with distractions and lies on the spot takes a lot of work. I was completely scammed, given misleading information, unclear and immoral answers. This is a serious and dangerous practice by the provider, I would be very inclined to believe that a majority of their patients are "out-of-network" and others have fallen into the same trap. Do yourself a favor and think twice before entering into business with Huff and Huff. What a shame!!!!
