Dr. Duenas is very friendly and welcoming, and he is very patient when explaining things to me! Definitely made me a lot less anxious and was super caring throughout my entire experience. I came down with a really bad eye infection and came to Dr. Duenas - he helped to handle the initial stages of my infection and to help me get glasses when I didn't know my prescription. I've been a patient here for years! Scheduling an appointment is easy. The front office staff are super kind and helpful. Dr. Duenas is just awesome. He finishes glasses incredibly fast. I had my exam and needed new glasses, and he was able to put new lenses in for me within just a few hours. I really like coming here because I never have to wait long for my glasses. Dr. Duenas is the best! I went for my eye exam & he takes his time to make sure you are comfortable and I was not rushed during the exam. He is very knowledgeable & helpful. His staff is just as knowledgeable and helpful. Silvia showed me some frames similar to what I had and I found the perfect ones. She so helpful and great. Careful they get salty when you choose to take your prescription elsewhere to get your glasses. Back in 2016, they did microprism for my left eye's lens prescription. Went back 2019, specifically asked for microprism again, got ignored, and Dr. Duenas chose to waste the remainder of the eye exam talking about how a young man should broaden his work experiences until the appointment time's up. Go elsewhere if you can...they will purposely amateur hour your prescription out of spite if you don't have your glasses with them!!!! read more

I super recommend this place I called to see if they required appointments and she said it was slow I could come in as a walk in and I appreciated that because other places didn't have no appointments with in a month , the receptionist and the dr were amazing made me feel like at home ! I came as a referral by a coworker and was very impressed with all the services provided. I was prescreened during my initial call and was informed on what would take place during my visit. With all this COVID-19 chaos and fluid changes, I was glad to know that this office was clean and professional. I came a few minutes earlier and was seen immediately. Dr. D was friendly, professional and provided insightful information regarding my eye health and answered my questions. One cool thing about Dr. D is that he is funny and shared knowledge about many topics. I feel my eyes are in good hands! The absolute worst customer service and very unprofessional front office staff. I had a scheduled appointment today at 4pm, I called at 3pm to confirm and they assured I was on the books. I get there at 4pm, front door is locked, so I called the office and advised them I was outside, they said I didn't have an appointment today. Then I called back, they put me on hold, and made me wait another 5 mins, still did not open the door. I decided to leave and take my business to a more professional provider. read more

There's a long story here that involves a scary condition in an infant, and we are still in the process of trying to save her sight so can't offer a happy ending in this review. Horrible Staff was very rude and didn't make me feel acknowledged. This was my first visit here and to top it off they had a broken chair that my son sat on and fell and cut himself. The chair did not have a sign stating that it was broken and it did not look broken. When I brought it to the staff's attention. They acted like it wasn't a big deal and they stated that the chair was "folded" which it wasn't. Even if it was they should have a sign or bring it to the patient's attention. Love Love Love this Doc and his staff! I've been coming here since the 80's when it was Dr. Gallardo and was not disappointed when Dr. Duenas took over. Dr. Duenas is super friendly and always makes you feel like you're his favorite patient. Same wonderful staff, Sylvia is awesome! Back when my son would go through at least 3 pairs of glasses in a year all I had to do was give her a call and she would put a rush order on a new pair without me having to go in and leave a deposit. I've been coming to Duenas for about 7 years, he and the staff are great. Never have to wait long to be seen, typically 5-10 minutes from set appointment time, if that. He's fantastic with children as well, thorough and addresses all concerns I've had. My son started seeing him at about two, he's six now and looks forward to eye exams and chatting with his eye doctor. I just took my 5yr old daughter to Dr.Duenas this past Monday , the experience was great he was such a good doctor ! My daughter has special needs but Doctor Duenas treated her like any other child which I loved . He had such great patience and made it so that both she and I where comfortable. That's why I am going to him in Montebello even though I live in Lake View Terrace which is west of his former office in Sunland. In other words, I'm impressed enough with him to go out of my way to keep seeing him instead of somebody else. I have been a patient of Dr. Duenas for over 10 years and I refuse to go to anyone else. Dr. Duenas genuinely cares about each of his patients. He spends ample time with you to ensure that you are provided with the best individualized care. I see him once every other year and he still remembers everything about me and my eye care history. His office staff is like family they are very sweet and they will go out of their way to help each patient. They always make sure the patient gets the best deal possible and make suggestions if needed. They don't push you to get more expensive glasses and their prices are beyond reasonable. You are never left in the waiting room for long periods of time and you never feel rushed during your time with the doctor. The front desk staff are very good with scheduling and do everything to be accommodating. I was surprised to see that someone had a horrible experience and stated the office staff was rude as I have never in my 10 plus years of being a patient experienced even a hint of rudeness from anyone in this office. During all my visits I have never even seen the office staff be rude to anyone. If your looking for an Optometrist who actually cares about his patients give Dr. Duenas a try you wont regret it. read more
