Absolutely horrible place to get glasses from. After receiving my new glasses, I found multiple small scratch on the left side. I was able to order new lenses to get them replaced, got called in to drop off the glasses only to get a call saying they found a scratch and I have to wait for another order. Finally, after the new order, I go once again and got the lenses replaced, however, after arriving home and inspecting them I once again find the same type of stretches that they had the very first time. Optometrist is responsible for cutting the lenses to the frames and this continues to happen and is insanely unprofessional. It isn't my profession, but it's absurd to that they can't properly check frames before having their customers come in and charging them. Better off somewhere else. I'd rather go pay full price for new lenses than ever go to this place again. read more

This place is super tiny. Owner retired and now his son took over. I brought frames to get my prescription added. I was attended by the older optical dispenser or receptionist. It was 145.00. A lil steep for me but ok... w Anti scratch,,anti glare,,and poly...Left a deposit. Was told they would call me in 2 weeks. I came in 2 weeks later to ask if they were ready...after 4 min of checking, they handed them to me. I was disappointed because they didn't even give me a cheap case for them...I had to ask for a free cloth to clean em. Im planning on buying some shades and I asked if they could do measurements for my frame size. I was told that they only do that if I purchase the glasses in their facility. That didnt sit well w me. Dr. Stanley Doi was my only optometrist and I had been going to him for as long as I can remember! I was a little kid when I started with him and I'm 24 now. The last time I went to visit his son Russel was the new doctor because Dr. Stanley Doi has retired. I was kind of sad when I learned that Dr. Doi was retiring because he was always so sweet and kind to me. I really enjoyed seeing him when I would do my eye exams. His son Russel seems to be just as sweet. When I had my appointment with him last month, he was very attentive and did a very thorough examination. It's never busy here and it's always easy to get an appointment. The women who work the reception are always kind and helpful when I call to ask questions. Highly recommend! read more

I think this place is great fast and easy. I personally have been coming to this place since I was small in fact I got my fist glasses here and till this day I've been getting my proscription and glasses. I trust only Dr. Doi with my eyes. He is extremely thorough, experienced, and personable. He has always given me more information about my eyes than any other optometrist I've seen in the past. I've been coming here for more than a decade and never looked back. I always ask a lot questions and he always answers my questions thoroughly and I don't feel like he's just trying to get me out of the office. I always complain to him about my dry eyes so he tries to keep me updated with new contact brands that help with dry eyes. I will drive 30+ miles from OC, where I live, to see Dr. Doi - that is how much I trust him. I will even make the drive to get my frames adjusted to my face. There was one time when I saw an optometrist in OC and was not impressed. The OC optometrist made me feel like I was in a cattle call and didn't seem as experienced and thorough as Dr. Doi. I thought I could save some time and gas by trying someone new. I spent more time and gas because a week later I had to see Dr. Doi to recheck my eyes. Best way to describe Dr. Doi is that he is your friendly neighborhood Optometrist. He is a down to earth, but very serious about your vision. Located in the heart of E.L.A. his staff speaks Spanish as well. I have been going to him for years. He is always up front about what he thinks.... he will let you know what he thinks about laser eye surgery!! Anyway although a little hard to find, he is an honest optometrist that is not just about selling you a new frame. Its always been nice experience visiting his office.... and the Mexican food down the street is not a bad reason to go! read more

I should have gone with my gut feeling on this one. I'm a student at Art Center College of Design. Along with a fantastic design education, the school also outfits its students with a pretty decent insurance plan. To augment the standard coverage, we can purchase additional dental/vision coverage, too. In need of new glasses, I went ahead and purchased some. My plan was to get an eye exam, a new prescription, and then buy some glasses once I moved back to Kansas City. When I walked into the office to explain my intention, the ladies at the counter were quite nice and helpful. One of them took a look at my glasses, even making a minor tightening adjustment to one of the screws. Very nice, very helpful. Things were looking good. I filled out my various med history forms, and waited for Dr. Doi. He called me into the back room, and I explained that I just needed an exam and prescription. I can't remember if he actually sighed audibly or not, but he was visibly annoyed. He chuckled in an agitated sort of way, and asked, "Is that insurance plan you have a good deal? Does that actually work out for you?" Um...I don't know what that's supposed to mean. What I'm *guessing* is that what he's really saying is this: "Hey! I'm not getting any money from this little eye exam I'm about to give you, kid, and you're doing nothing but wasting my time." He sits me in the chair, begins the exam, and continues to make strange comments about my insurance, and acting annoyed. At this point, I've begun to feel like I've made a mistake. I'm also feeling really put off by his attitude. I'm sorry if you're not getting paid as much as you'd like for this exam, but that's not my fault. I'm just here because you're in my network, and I happen to need a new scrip. Please act like a pro and quit giving me flak. He cruises through the exam at top speed, does the requisite glaucoma tests and things, and finally writes me up my prescription. I leave. After moving back to KC, I stop into a LensCrafters to fill my prescription and get a new pair of glasses. Once I put them on, I feel dizzy and sick to my stomach. This isn't entirely unusual with new lenses, though, so I decided to wait it out. After three days of constant nausea, I stop back into LensCrafters. They verify that the prescription was filled correctly, that the lenses are properly centered, and that there aren't problems with the material. The fault lies with the prescription. They recommend I return to my optometrist to redo the prescription. Since Dr. Doi is in LA, and I'm in KC, that's not a possibility. Instead, I go to a place in town. They give me zero attitude and check my eyes *carefully*, making a special point to check both eyes at the same time (something Dr. Doi failed to do) They establish that the prescription written to me by Dr. Stanley Doi was waaaaaaay off. They give me a new prescription for $65. I return to LensCrafters, where they inform me that I'll have to wait a week before the glasses with the corrected lenses will be ready for pickup. In sum, by going to Dr. Doi I've wasted a ton of time, a ton of money, and have had my new eyeglasses delayed by a week. Not recommended. read more

This is the best optometrist I have ever been to. I had come hear for years but have had to move where I live for work etc. so out of convenience, I tried Lenscrafters in the Mall and that was a horrible experience. Cost wise as well as attention that I was given. I have also had Kaiser insurance so I also utilized their Optometrist once, that was an ok experience but my out of pocket cost was just too much. I just have not received the same customer service as I have here, anywhere else. I currently drive 7 miles to get here as opposed to going anywhere else closer to home because of the care I get. When I first came here when it was under Dr. Stanley who was excellent, but he has since retired and now his son is there and is...what's a better word for excellent? Well his son is EXCELLENT too! Do yourself a favor and if your looking for a great optometrist you will want to come here. P.s. The only con...parking is around back in a unconnected lot. That is unless your LUCKY enough to find street parking in front. Not horribly difficulty but just wanted to give the heads up. read more

I've seen the Dr. Doi for 5 years and can say that he has always provided professional service. Any questions I've had, Dr. Doi has always been more than willing to address. The only problem I've had was the last time I got my contact lenses. My eyes were really irritated. I called him and he asked me if I felt it was the prescription or the lens. I am so-o happy with my very first pair of sunglasses! They fit perfectly and are so comfortable! I never even try to take them off. Every time I go out, people always comment on how great they are. I wore them in Chicago & strangers asked to take pictures with me. Today, someone said I looked like a movie star and asked for my autograph! My mom was very impressed that Dr. Doi got the wrap around things to hold onto my ears & fit just right.
