I honestly don't know another doctor who is as kind, approachable, and professional as she is. After every visit, I leave feeling very well taken care of and confident that my eye health is in great hands, especially since I have a high prescription and a history of eye issues. This is the first time I've experienced what a TRUE vision check up is supposed to be like! Dr. Tran took her time explaining what each vision test was for and adjusted my prescription to perfection. I asked her opinion on different options with my lenses and she tailored them exactly to my daily needs. She even recommended against spending money on a coating that would do me little good! Dr. Susan Tran is the best optometrist I've ever seen, and I would know - I used to see a different new optometrist every year. I've been to almost every eye doctor in the 626 area and had no loyalty to any of them because they were all did the minimum until my bf introduced me to Dr. Tran and I'll never see anyone else (pun intended) First of all, the waiting room is the best because they're always playing one of my favorite tv shows like Friends. There's also convenient charging stations for you to catch up on your social media while waiting. Dr. Susan is very thorough, every time I come in for my annual check-ups, it's like consulting with a friend rather than a doctor-patient relationship. I had constant headaches and couldn't find out why even after going to my family doctor and was taking Advil every other day, but Dr. Susan recommended that I lower my prescription for my contacts after checking my eyes and just like that - my headaches went away. I also tend to wear glasses more than contacts on weekdays, so I had a lot left over and Dr. Susan is able to trade the prescription of my old contacts for my updated ones, saving me a lot of money! My grandmother had Glaucoma and eventually suffered from blindness so I'm always scared that I might also get it when I get older, but after discussing my family history with Dr. Susan - she was very informative and educated me on keeping up with my annual appointments so I can catch any signs of eye problems early on. read more

Free easy parking lot. They use texting which is cool. You have to call to be let inside. So if you're standing in front of the door ready for your appt the doors locked. You can call from your car of course, but we can't just walk in like pre Covid. Front staff & the Dr are all polite & professional. Dr was informative & friendly. I don't remember exactly how much my glasses were after insurance, but I for sure didn't pick pricey frames. I picked "Longchamp" which were the lowest priced tier. Glasses were ready maybe 1-2 weeks later. They were handed over not in a bag. The case w/my glasses inside & a mini spray clean bottle. I had my cell phone & keys/wallet fob that day (no pockets or purse) so I clumsily was gripping everything on my way out to my car. A small bag woulda been nice. My glasses didn't fit & when I returned later, they adjusted them on the spot. I'll definitely return cuz it's conveniently located, I didn't wait forever for an appt & they were overall cool. read more

I had a great experience here a week ago! My boss and her family go here, then two more employees at our firm followed her, and now I go here, too. So they basically service our whole law firm lol and we all had great experiences. You can make an appt. online or by phone. I like that their office is appt. only because it is small and in light of COVID, it's best to only have one patient in there at a time. The wait time for an appt. wasn't bad at all. Before the appt, they called about a week out to verify my insurance benefits. Then a few days before, they send out a text with the info you'd otherwise fill out on a form when you arrived. Thus, the day of my appt, I had absolutely nothing to fill out. I just had to sign the pre-bill after they went over the charges with me. The whole appt. process went very smoothly. The office was super clean and cute. The doc was very thorough and informative, as was the receptionist who helped me pick out my frames. I felt so bad because I tried on so many pairs and she had to clean each one after I was done, but she was so sweet and helpful and didn't make me feel bad. They have a decent selection of frames, including some high end ones like Tom Ford. If you have VSP as most people do for eye insurance, you'll be presented with a 3-tier system. Each tier includes X, Y, and Z brands. VSP covers the most for the lower brand frames and the least for the better brand frames. I believe the range was $160 in coverage for the lowest tier to $120 in coverage for the highest tier ... something like that. No matter what insurance you have, remember that insurance typically only covers the frames. The lenses are what will get you every time, as hardly no one ever has plain lenses. All the extras like anti-glare, anti-scratch, etc. costs extra. You have to go pickup your frames ~2 weeks after your appt, or they can ship them to you for $15. read more

I have been wearing prescription glasses for over two decades and have seen countless optometrists (from Golden San Gabriel Optometric Vision Center, Eye Care Optometry Of San Gabriel, New Insight Optometry, etc.) I first discovered her back in 2018 via Yelp because I was still on a mission to find a better optometrist. Most of optometrists would just simply "do their jobs" and honestly there's nothing wrong with the practice; however, Dr. Susan Tran is on a whole other level when it comes to the level of service she provides to her patients. She doesn't just examine your eyeballs and call it a day - she genuinely cares about her patients and goes above & beyond by engaging small talk. I am never gun-shy on asking various eye health questions and Dr. Tran answered all of my concerns & questions. In fact I have her office number on my phone book and you can even text the number at any time if you ever encounter symptoms for retinal detachment which requires an emergency medical treatment. During the COVID pandemic period, her office only allows one patient per hour and you will need to schedule an appointment ahead of time. Everyone in the office follows the COVID safety practices and the office is super clean with sneeze guards at the main counter. They also have a fundus camera and you can ask the staff for a copy of fundus photographs for your own records. The staff is just as friendly as Dr. Tran and trust me there are some unprofessional staffs out there. Now I can't say whether prices for frames are reasonable comparing with new companies like Warby Parker because everyone has different eye insurance plans & coverages, but the staff is very transparent on the price and they don't pressure patients on making any choices. This is absolutely hands-down one of the best optometry you will find in the SGV (San Gabriel Valley) area. If anyone had a traumatizing experience from previous routine eye exam (e.g. "if you don't do this then you will be blind in xx years"), then I highly recommend giving Dr. Tran a try! read more

Even though I live in OC now, I still make the drive to see Dr. Susan Tran for my eye exams because she is meticulous, thorough, and listens to all of my concerns. I recently had a problem with my left eye and I was able to make an appointment to see her easily via their website. She has an Optomap scan that takes photographs of everything inside your eyes, which Dr. Tran will use along with the standard exam to explain the health of your eyes. A very knowledgeable doctor; I trust her completely. She takes the time to answer all of my questions and puts my worries at ease. Her staff Emily and Ana are wonderful and sweet. My first visit at Rosemead Optometry with Dr. Tran was back in 2018. I was referred by a friend who raved about how great this place was in terms of professionalism and thorough-ness. I have been a returning patient ever since! Dr. Susan is super knowledgeable and answers all the questions I may have! She is also very friendly and makes the whole process very seamless! With a blink of an eye, 45mins have passed and I've got a thorough understanding of my current eye conditions, recommendations on preservative-free eye drops, and a quick life catch-up session with my awesome optometrist! I actually moved to NorCal right after my eye exam in 2018 and they were able to send my contacts directly to my new location and it also came with a bag of snacks! The kind gesture was super sweet and much appreciated! Returning to LA in 2020, this was definitely my first pick for my annual check-up. Luckily, they were able to squeeze my husband and I in with only 2 days left in the year. A week prior to our appointment, I received an appointment reminder via text which was super helpful! During COVID times, everything is by appointment and you wait by the door outside until they're ready to let you in. I liked that the whole place was basically just reserved for my husband and I and we were able to freely walk around to look at the glasses without worrying about social distancing as there was no one else in the store. Why did people tell me that turning 30 is like the new 20? That's a lie. Now that I'm 30, my eyesight is not nearly as sharp as it used to be. Realizing that I needed a consultation to determine if I needed glasses, I started asking some family members about optometrists. Dr. Pham was well respected so I decided to stop by Rosemead Optometry. When I called to make my appointment, the receptionist told me that I would be meeting with Dr. Susan Tran, the new owner. Parking was a breeze and I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean and organized everything was. The staff is very professional and friendly, too. When the receptionist greeted me, she offered me some Keurig coffee or ice cold water. She even offered me a laptop or a tablet to use since I was early. I thought that was a nice touch. I arrived about 10 minutes early for my appointment. I started looking around at the glasses and the workers were knowledgeable and friendly and started talking to me about the new lens technology. Since I've never worn glasses before, I was a little nervous that I would look like a nerd but Rosemead Optometry has very stylish, high-end brands that made me look smart and sophisticated and also trendy. Glasses would be like a new accessory for me and I was actually looking forward to having a "new look." Dr. Tran was on time for our appointment and she introduced herself to me. She is upbeat and has such a friendly smile. She made small talk with me and got to know me personally before jumping into all the eye talk and procedures. Dr. Tran is very outgoing and within 10 minutes, I felt like she could be a friend. Most doctors are so mechanical and just want to see as many patients as possible in a day. Dr. Tran is different. I couldn't believe how nice she was. We went through the eye exam and she was empathetic to my concerns and made me feel comfortable with the entire process. I learned that Rosemead Optometry has a state of the art retinal camera, that if I order contact lenses - their prices are cheaper than Costco, and they also have a great warranty on anti-reflective/ smudge/ oil and water coating. That's great because I am an outdoorsy person so I don't want my eye glasses or sunglasses distracting me when I'm active. Overall, my experience here was fantastic! My appointment with Dr. Tran was timely and efficient. I am impressed with Dr. Tran's genuine care and interest in her patients. You can just tell that she really loves what she does and she has a true desire to help you. Her patience and compassion made me feel like she would never compromise the health of my vision. So I finally decided to get a comprehensive eye exam...at the age of 32. I heard about this place through a friend so I decided to check it out. Gotta say Dr. Susan Tran and the staff were amazing. I was able to secure a same day appointment (SCORE). Coming from LA I despise parking so first off...plenty of hassle-free parking. The waiting area has computers to pass the time or watch TV on their flat screen. The staff immediately greeted me and offered me coffee and water. My time with Dr. Tran was what a doctor/patient relationship should feel like (since I have been a nurse for 10 years now and I could appreciate a good doctor when I see one). She really sat there and made me feel she was listening to my needs and didn't feel rushed. My family and I have now been going to Dr. Susan Tran for yearssss now and we love it!!! My family, especially me, have developed a relationship with Dr. Tran. It really is amazing when you have a good relationship with your optometrist, who not only cares about your eyes, but also about you!!! She remembers the trend of your eyesights and health and she is very honest with her business and patient care, from providing proper and true eye exams with measurements to selling honest prices for glasses and shades! This place is bad. I had an emergency. I broke my frames by accident and needed replacement since I am blind without my glasses. I went to the office and they straight up told me to call in and make an appointment. I called and try to make an appointment and they told me that the next appointment open was three and half weeks out just to see the doctor. Plus, I have to probably have to wait an entire week to get the frame with lens. I wasn't going to drive around with no glasses for an entire month. I'm ever coming back here again. I ended up going to the Eye Care Optometry of San Gabriel on San Gabriel Blvd and they were able to help me right away with seeing the doctor and getting my replacement. read more

Pretty much going to echo what everyone else has been saying about Dr Tran and her team. My previous eye doctor was just fine, but it was farther for me since I moved to Pasadena. My wife suggested I try her since it was about time for my yearly eye exam so I figured what the hell. So glad I did, the doctor and staff pay attention to every detail about their patients. How do I know? My wife made my first appointment for me, and when I first got there, THEY WERE PLAYING TAYLOR SWIFT ON THE RADIO! They knew II'm a swiftie (no shame) and had it on as I was greeted. But enough about the formalities. Dr Tran was thorough in my eye examination and explained some of the questions I had about my eyes. Like..wth do I need glasses if I had LASIK already? Why is one eye seeing different from the other? All that she addressed and made me feel more comfortable. She even checked my old glasses out for quality inspection. Her staff is just as stellar. They are very patient when helping with choosing new eyeglasses. They know you by your name and treat you like a friend. I can go on and on about this place, like how they special ordered a pair of sunglasses for me, or how they hook you up with special eyeglass cleaners or a few free pairs of contacts to try out, but I'll leave it at that. THE AMBIANCE: Rosemead Optometry is located in a shopping plaza off of Valley Blvd. You will see "Optometry" on the sign before entering the plaza. The office is very clean and nice. They play Friends and other comedy TV shows to keep the atmosphere friendly and inviting. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE: Doctor Susan took care of me. I was interested in contacts for Halloween and this was the only optometrist in my area range that offered them. I chose to do an eye exam for proper contact fitting and I learned how to put the contacts in and take them off; it was my first time! Doctor Susan was patient and sweet. I was shown a contacts-how-to video (it looked so easy!) and then spent about half an hour learning how to put them in and take them out by myself. I was getting frustrated BUT I am so glad that Rosemead Optometry offers this service because it is so essential to learn how to put them in and take them out, especially when you will have to do it all by yourself thereafter. I picked out my Halloween contacts wanted off of Doctor Susan's laptop and the order was placed. MY CONTACTS: I chose to purchase Eyedia's phantom contacts named "Hydra." I found them off of other websites named "Lestat" but instead of purchasing those for $30 or so and being unsafe, I chose to keep it safe and buy them from Rosemead Optometry ($60 or so each lense). Eyedia's lenses are manufactured once ordered and are FDA approved. I looked amazingly dead in my Halloween costumes and the contacts were a hit. Happy!
