The office is well-decorated and cozy with accent walls and aesthetically-pleasing black and white photos of people with ridiculously white teeth. They have complimentary fruit and drinks (orange juice, green tea, water, etc.), free yummy chapstick, and of course your obligatory floss and toothpaste. The exam/cleaning rooms all have nice, big windows, so you can look out the window or watch TV while you are having work done, your choice. Also, you have the option of dipping your hands in a paraffin wax bath for a nice hand treatment as you get your teeth done. Absolutely genius ... I mean, if you're sitting there for an extended period of time anyway, why not? Everyone I interacted with there was very pleasant, but, most importantly, honest. Dr. Alber has a very frank, here's-how-it-is personality, which I really appreciated. He told me I should consider having my wisdom teeth out in the near future, and when I admitted that I thought I would be doing that on my next visit to Peru, he encouraged me. "Heck, they can do it for a lot cheaper than I can -- and they have good dentists!" he said. I really appreciated that because he could have said something like "Well, the only way you can be SURE to have it done well is to go through me." I loved the no-upsale approach. They really LOOK FORWARD to going to the dentist especially because of the PRIZES and everyone is super friendly and gentle. My kids have been going here since it was Little Britches and it has only become better since Dr. Jennifer Rubin took over the practice. She has a very calm manner and I love the way she talks directly to my kids to explain to them what she is doing during an exam. It is fun (there are clouds hanging from the ceiling) and the space has big windows all around, so a sunny beautiful light filters into the rooms. The chairs are pink, there are games in the lobby, and there are tons of kid-friendly toothpaste and fluoride flavors. They even have a kid-size panoramic x-ray machine. I learned today at Dr. Rubin even does expanders for kids with Invisalign (early ortho work). They take Delta Dental Insurance and they have laughing gas available for the kids who need it.

When I was at Pearl Street Dental last summer, 4 things happened. 1 good and 3 bad:…read more I'll start with the good because everybody in there is actually really nice: Good - I had 4 cavities filled without any real pain and was probably the most "comfortable" I could imagine being while getting cavities filled... Will never go to a dentist that uses drills again. Now with that being said, a lot of bad stuff happened that will prevent me from returning: 1) I have had serious pain on one of molars on the lower right side while eating since the procedure. I do not/cannot chew on my right side and will have to get root canal/fake tooth in the coming months. I went to get a second opinion from my dentist at home about the pain and he told me that he was very skeptical that I would have needed all 4 fillings. He had taken x rays 4 months prior that only showed 2 cavities - i could not get them filled at the time because I was moving back to Boulder that week. The tooth in pain is one he identified as not needing a filling... 2) Dr. Higgins accidentally burned a hole in my bib before the procedure started. FYI Dr Higgins uses a laser rather than a drill to remove decaying parts of tooth. It helps a lot for pain, but come on... you can't burn holes through your patients drool bib and shirt not knowing that your laser is on... that's Dr Evil type stuff. 3) I was charged twice for the first two fillings I had (the four fillings were across two separate days) - even after I tried telling the receptionist I had already paid. Jenny was on vacation at the time so I had to go back and show to somebody else in the office the multiple charges on my credit card. Obviously it got fixed, but it took 3 weeks to get almost $3000 back when I tried explaining that I had already paid for the first session in full... really, really put a strain on my financial situation as a recent college grad. Overall, terrible experience as a dentist. Would gladly go to happy hour with anybody in the office, but certainly will not let them anywhere near my teeth again.
