Every time I have been there they try to get me to do more - teeth whitening, braces, etc. This place is already more expensive than others. So I have found Peak dental, which has been great. Then I got this flyer in the mail saying since I hadn't been there in a while I could come in for a complementary exam and teeth whitening. I went to schedule it and apparently down in the tiny writing which, even after reading I don't totally see, if you have insurance, you are in eligible for this. I'm genuinely saddened to write this review, as Dr. Jeranko has been my dentist since I was a child and I've always trusted his care. Unfortunately, my most recent experiences have been deeply disappointing. They said I needed 6 fillings which was a surprise as I take pretty decent care of my teeth and didn't encounter any pain or sensitivity beforehand. During my visits, a dental assistant, not the dentist, completed all of my fillings. Within two years, every single one of those fillings had to be redone because small gaps had formed between the filling and the tooth. I feel like I got unnecessary work performed and having all 6 fillings redone has caused unnecessary discomfort, additional appointments, and expenses that could have been avoided. After being a loyal patient for so many years, it's disheartening to feel that the focus is shifted more toward generating revenue than providing reliable treatment. read more

I have never given a 5 star review on anything because I have always believed there is room for improvement. BUT I have to give Standley Shores 5 stars and would give more if it were an option. I'm in my 60s and have had plenty of dental work done over the years. I would often put off procedures that were needing to be done because I have always had a lot of anxiety sitting in a dentist chair, even for simple cleanings. In my most recent visit, I was going in for prelim work to do a crown and was going to be in the chair for a couple of hours...my worst nightmare. But I discussed my anxieties openly with Lori, the dental assistant, and with Dr. Petracek. Both listened and provided me with options to make my visit more pleasant. For the first time in decades of going to dentists, I had the best experience ever!! Even bragged about it to my husband and others in my family who know how I struggle with "dentist phobia". Please be advised that Jared S Robertson has been reported to the Colorado DORA Agency in regard to malpractice and severely botched dentistry.  Consumer Protection | Department of Regulatory Agencies (colorado.gov) In addition, Jared S Robertson has been reported to the Attorney General for the State of Colorado for intimidating me with the words "Don't Ever Talk to Anyone About This Except Me." In addition, his malpractice insurance contacted me in an effort to sue me for his legal charges.  The clever legal protection prevented my specific complaint from being publicized in the Better Business Bureau of Colorado.  Jared S Robertson has moved through several states and this dental office is a "Foreign Owned Entity."  An attempt was made to pay me to "sign," and receive a refund, however the cost of removing the incompetent and shoddy dental work of Jared S Robertson cost approximately 5 times what I originally paid for it.  Please protect yourselves, your children and your elderly loved ones from this monster. read more

I went to Stanley Shors dental group because of all the positive reviews but now am wondering how they even have a single positive review! When I had a general cleaning done Dr. Petracek claimed I needed 7 fillings. When I asked how that was possible because i go to the dentist every 6 months he was very short and unwilling to explain anything and did not show me anything on the x-rays. It was also very concerning how he wanted to do the work within the following two weeks but didn't want to explain any of it. I called my old dentist and got a second opinion when he looked at the x-rays and for himself he said I did not have a single cavity. DR. PETRACEK AND STANLEY SHORS DENTAL GROUP ARE LIARS AND CROOKS! This review does not cover dental service aptitude, the star rating is for overall experience, not for dental expertise, and I do think a different person may have a perfectly nice experience.. It is important when taking yelp reviews into account, who the writer is and what their experience in life may be. 5 stars from a bunch of people who hardly ever use yelp vs 500 reviews from power users is very different. Maybe there's a personal connection for the former type of review writer? In this case, yours truly is a healthy millennial who purchased health insurance for herself only as a matter of law, and otherwise gets by with being thrifty with groupons and deals. My deal here from the website was their 52.80$ deal in celebration of being named by the magazine for their mastery of dentistry. It included xray, exam, and cleaning. I made the appointment for this 2.5 months in advance - not out of a desire to put off going to the dentist, but because they are just THAT busy. Or maybe because I mentioned that I wanted their special offer for new clients. My bet's on the latter. Previously bicoastal, I walked into SSDG thinking "oh how quaint and stepford-y" at their giant space and waterfall wall. This must be what suburbanites lust after - this and Belmar shopping center. But, I decided, in the case of a dentists' office, it's probably best to err on the side of cleanliness and stepfordliness. I arrived 20 minutes early, conscientious of the voicemail's warning to arrive early. Filled out forms in 5 minutes, and then waited another 30 minutes (past my appointment time - that I made 2.5 months ago). I nudged the receptionist, and got in a few minutes later. Not sure what would have happened if I hadn't. Please note that 4-5 people arrived after me, and all but 1 had gone in before me. Finally went in and boy are they thorough (and maybe a bit slow. Don't come here on your lunch break from work, even if it's long. 90 min + getting there early + wait time past original appt time). They had to take a lot of xrays (which is normal, but never had so MANY done all at once), and also digital photos including what I think was a very unflattering mug shot (with BIB!). But whatever. They explain this and that and consult and it's all very good and scientific and makes me think, "great, you know your dentistry. I feel okay getting my teeth cleaned here." Except a deep clean was recommended for another visit for me. I thought, okay cool, so I'll get my regular clean now and a deep clean in a few months when I'm more of an established suburbanite and less of a peripatetic millennial. Nope. No regular clean, because that might actually make my teeth worse! Okay okay, fine, I accept whatever medical suggestions you have, now it's pushing on 2 hours so I need to go. No cleaning, fine, chalk it up to a waste of time. I know product-(or service)-pushing, and even if it's bullshit, I'll accept it now. Except when I expected the price to be discounted for services not rendered. I got exam and xray I suppose, but not cleaning. Unfortunately, that means it's not part of their aforementioned SPECIAL, so actually the xrays themselves were $271 dollars. "Now, about your payment for today..." The lady explained that I would be discounted, back to the original $52.80, for the xrays. And that I was getting a great deal because they are normally a value of $300. EXCUSE ME? I understand what a loss leader is, but I highly doubt SSDG is taking in new patients on that high of a loss simply for an xray (not even taking into account the "value" of the cleaning). Also, please don't confuse sticker price for VALUE. Then be patronizing and tell me I got a discount. So, I got charged the same amount as I thought I would originally for the full service, for half the services, and was told I should be grateful for the discount because the xray-as-NOT-PART-OF-THE-PACKAGE is somehow more expensive than the xray-as-part-of-the-package. I'll pay for the xrays, but really, shouldn't it be some smaller fraction of $52.80 since it's not the full package? When I mentioned this, I was offered a "polish" instead. A glorified spa toothbrush experience? I mean, maybe, I'm not too proud to say no, but now it's at 2 hours and I need to go so I should either get a credit for cleaning for next time should I choose to do the deep clean as suggested OR pay a discounted fraction this time. If you're a nice settled-in suburbanite who likes her ducks in a row, come here for the waterfall wall and the knowledgeable service. The staff is all saccharine sweet. If you'd like the special, be prepared to wait. I've learned a valuable firsthand lesson in the difference between a loss leader and a bait-and-switch. Call me disgruntled--and I am--but I think I've reasoned through this logic pretty clearly. I don't really go to the dentist. Maybe once every 5 years. I am in the process of switching jobs and had the time. No more excuses. I used the website to schedule an appointment with hopes to get in right away. I was called the next day to firm up a time and date as well as confirm insurance. I received a call the following day to find they are Out of Network and approximately the cost and advised that it was ness expensive to take the $52.80 new patient deal. I arrived early to do the paperwork and to my surprise I was I to the exam room and begun prior to my actual scheduled time. Can't say that has ever happened at any doctors office. While I wouldn't describe any dentist appointment as pleasant, this one was as good as it gets. The hygienist was friendly and gentle. I was made as comfortable as I probably could be. The dentist was also very kind and reiterated everything that the hygienist had said. Best of all, NEVER was I shamed for my lack of routine dental care. While they pointed out areas of concern, they were positive and always kind. When I need to go back to a dentist I will highly if not probably return here. Haven't ever said that as an adult. I would recommend them to a friend or family if asked. read more

Wow! I can't believe I am the first person to write a review about Standley Shores Dental! I have been going here for about 4 years now. I go twice a year, for the insurance covered cleaning/polishing. I had to get 8 cavities filled all at once one time, and they let me watch a movie! It was awesome. I also had a problem with one of cavities and they got me right in and fixed it for no charge. I took off one star because I had a dental hygienist I didn't care much for, but I requested a new hygienist who made me feel more comfortable, and they had no problem with it either. I have been going to, "The Standley Shores Dental Group" for years and today was a real testament on how wonderful and patient they are as a whole professional group. My colleague, back in 2009, recommended me to Dr. Stang as I shared my childhood fears with going to the dentist and she told me how caring they are with her family. Sadly , in the past, other dentist groups I have gone to I felt mocked and belittled with my fears which led to years of me returning to cares for my teeth. From my first cleaning, Dr. Stang and his hygienist Donna, have been consistently supportive and gentle. Not only are they clearly passionate at what they do to keep you at ease and inform you a plan for a healthier smile, they provide individual Netflix movies/music for distractions(my favorite- Mama Mia) for the simplest of a general cleaning. For the procedures that I have felt were more unnerving, they have a professional staff to provide "happy gas" which creates, for me, a sense of calm. I am happily moving to Florida next week but I will be returning to, "The Standley Group" for my yearly check ups. I can't imagine a better group. read more

I recently moved to the area and needed a dentist. I was given Dr. Kate McDowell at SSDG and am very happy with the experiences I have had so far. I hate going to the dentist, as most people do, but Dr. McDowell and the entire staff make me feel much more at ease. They always talk me through everything, which helps a lot too. I recently had some pain in a tooth that was giving me a hard time and Dr. McDowell was able to squeeze me in right away (and around my work schedule) and was able to fix the problem for me. I'd highly recommend going to Dr. McDowell for dental work. She is very friendly and sincere. I also rarely ever have to wait in the waiting area, even when I am early for my appointment, which is also a plus! Overall, SSDG is a great place to go for dental work. read more

They are always awesome! This time I was there to have a crown mage for my front tooth. It matches perfectly after the custom paint job by Karver. Dr Barone and Nichole were so amazing. They worked at it until it was perfect, fitting with all my other teeth. They were also extremely accommodating when my temporary kept falling off. It is with deep regrets that I write this. We've been patients here for nearly 30 years, and have loved our dentist - still do. Unfortunately, for the last several years, my husband and I have felt more like numbers rather than patients by much of the office staff. We let it go though, because we loved our dentist and respective hygienists. Due to genetics and lack of insurance resulting in poor care when we were younger, we both need to go in 3 times a year for cleanings rather than twice. The last year or two, every time one of us has gone in we always seem to have a balance. Since we don't go at the same time and don't know what work the other had done, we would just pay and go on. This last time, I decided to investigate further. It appears they are a Delta Premier dentist, and our insurance is strictly Delta, therefore some treatments cost us more. I was told we should just upgrade during our next open enrollment period. Being a teacher in a smaller district, that is not even an option. Then this last time, my husband went in and delved deeper into the investigation and discovered since we go in for cleanings 3 times a year, it's being coded as periodontal work rather than cleaning. We receive no different or additional care of treatment; in fact, on the extra visit we don't even see the doctor. But apparently it allows them to bill the insurance company for more money - which results in us having to pay more money. Therefore, after nearly 30 years, we've decided to leave and look for a dental office that wants to treat their patients like people rather than numbers. read more

Loved my cleaning and exam here! From calling and having someone on the front desk work to get me in as soon as there was an opening (she kept my info on her desk and called me back a few days later offering me a time over the holidays), to explaining I was using the last of my old insurance and then switching to a new plan to my cleaning and exam, it was all smooth, easy, and made me feel great about going there. They were timely, friendly, and educated me on ways to better care for my teeth and options to help in the future. I loved that I could easily discuss everything from what toothbrush I'm using, to brushing technique, to what to drink/not to drink, to how my new insurance would work when I switch over and want to keep seeing them. Mu hygienist, Laura, was a pleasure to work with and she did a good job getting pictures, Xrays, and getting through my cleaning. The dentist I saw (Dr. Jarenko) was so kind, told me what he saw going right and talked over some options for me to consider to improve things. When I mentioned we were changing insurance and going through a job change at home, could I consider some of these options in 6-12 months he immediately said, "yes! We just like to help you get info to think things over!" I did not feel pressured or shamed and had a great cleaning and exam. This practice is AWESOME. read more

From the first phone call with Tracy in scheduling; she talked to the Dr & squeezed us in the very next morn, to Dr Jeranko & his Asst, Melanie, explaining, very clearly, our options & even discounting the fees because our ins did not cover most of what was needed. I have written a few reviews for Standley Shores Dental group as I've been a patient since 2004 when they were in an old crowded building across the street. I felt an update was needed. So let me start with me: I have had a phobia of dentists and oral care since I was young. Growing up in the 80's (I'm aging myself here) my family could only afford discount dentist offices so what I knew of dental offices were not positive. I went over 3 years without seeing a dentist as a young adult (a decision I very much regret now) because of the debilitating fear. I just hated the appointments throughout my youth, teenage years and young adulthood and oftentimes had to take anti-anxiety medicine to simply walk into the office. I had to get braces in the early 2000s to resolve bite issues and headaches because my jawline was way off. My orthodontist recommended Dr. Stang and cautioned that I was investing too much in my jawline and teeth to not see a professional dentist. So I gave in reluctantly and I'm very happy that I did. I'm a demanding person and I rarely give out 5 stars. I'm also the crazy yelper who will change my review after every single appointment/visit so that it is continuously earned (I loathe complacency). This office and Dr. Stang deserve 5 stars. The office is big, new and offers a lot of amenities: coffee, water, etc. I think it's a nice perk but it's not why I work in Fort Collins and drive to this office 3 times a year for cleanings (and additional appointments when they arise). The staff is kind. The office staff including everyone from the person who you call for an appointment, the person who checks you in, schedules your next appointment and the who bills you are all on top of things. They over communicate (I LOVE that I am reminded of my appointments on 3 different technologies. How thorough. While comical, I NEVER miss an appointment. Clearly it's effective). Oh my goodness, they note everything. Do you have a favorite hygienist? You can see them for all of your needs (assuming they are still there). Have one you don't quite mesh with - they can note that too so that you don't see them again. Do you like one type of cleaning method over another? They note and act on that. Scared of dentists and need laughing gas? Yes, that's me. They note that too so it's ready when I walk in to treat a cavity. Do you need a distraction? They offer music and a tv for your viewing pleasure to help keep you calm. Building and office staff aside, I come for the great dental team. I see Dr. Stang and whomever he is working with. He is always so calm, patient and kind. He is a perfectionist and takes pride in my dental care. He has seen me multiple times to correct a crown and bite guard. While most people have 2 cleanings per year, I come in for 3. This staff really is incredible. Since 2004, I have changed jobs many times and they went from in/out of network as I did that. While my jobs changed, I never changed my dentist. I have moved to the DTC and Fort Collins and still commute to this office. Their prices are reasonable whether in or out of network (and when money was tight I did call around for pricing to many offices closer to home). Also, this is a dental office. Much like doctors appointments, there will occasionally be some delays because appointments can run unexpectedly long. I am not a patient person and I hate tardiness. So I've learned to take early appointments, book them months in advance and avoid the lunch hour rush. There are workarounds to known problems to limit the frustrations and maximize your experience. I wish I had someone like Dr. Stang when I younger. You don't get to play catch up with oral care folks and you can't pay your way out of years of neglect... so start off right with Dr. Stang and you'll be 20+ years ahead of me. read more

The dentists and staff were very friendly here. BUT - we just moved to the area therefore looking for a new dentist. I had called to see if our insurance was covered - they said yes, let's make an appointment. During the appointment they said do you want to add flouride for the kids - I was surprised because it was always included. They said most plans cover it 100% so I agreed. Come to find out a few weeks after the appointment, that I now owe them $165 (for 2 kids) because they are not in-network. Went back to ask about this, was told one of the receptionist was new and maybe didn't know. They said they'll ask a manager to call me to maybe reduce the payment. A few weeks go by and when they did call, it was to demand payment. She said they're only in-network for 2 insurance plans, other plans are "covered" but not at 100%, so they are not responsible for this misunderstanding. Feels like they were being dishonest and just trying to get my business. If the receptionist didn't know and gave incorrect/incomplete information, shouldn't they take partial responsibility? read more

Seriously, how long have any of you been going to SSD? No One talked about when he was across the street Behind the Diamond Shamrock. Not one. Oh brother. Seriously, 13 years? Wow... Same here, and for you not to mention his prices having not gone up drastically- to support the new office space across the street, is really not helpful to other yelpers looking for a dentist. The old office was modest/ and the prices were lower then his new office. Regardless of insurance or not, you are paying higher prices then need be. Yelpers, if you go here now- you are paying for the designer coffee maker which also makes hot cocoa and espresso!. Oh brother, from the water fall mural on the wall and lots of space that is under utilized- dont worry- you are paying for that too. I know on one occasion- lets see back in January 2006. I was in so much pain that Skip came in , with his wife (a dental hygienist herself) for my emergency care. They did great- but again that was in the old office. Gwen is still there- and she always has been a doll. Look, I really don't care what your office looks like, as long as I am not starting to losing MY money cause of Dr's ego's and their kids are entering college. OH Vay! SSD prices are a little insane... think Cherry Creek Office with Cherry Creek prices. And they try and up sell you with mechanic tooth brushes and whiteners. PS- don't forget to go through the light, across on Wads, and go to Lamar's for a dozen jelly filled! I got tired of getting slammed paying out for a cleaning- so I left. I have been going to see Dr. Petracek off an on for years now. He isn't "in-network"' for me, but by far the best dentist I have ever been to. I am the worlds WORST dental patient, and my teeth need a lot of work. He is the only dentist that has never judged my teeth and tried to make me feel bad. I had a terrible toothache over the weekend, and he got me in right away on Monday morning. I needed a root canal, but was booked for the next several weeks so he PERSONALLY called a specialist to see if they could see me. They are pricey, especially if you are "out of network", but I don't want to open my mouth for anyone else. He is patient and talks you through everything as he is doing it. I normally need to be knocked out cold for anything (even a cleaning) as of bad past experiences, yet he really calms me down. They are AWESOME!!! read more

Everyone I spoke with, from the receptionists to the folks to make appointments, is professional and friendly. For my treatment, Danielle, Heather and Dr. Robertson were amazing. They put me at ease, explained everything that would happen ad answered all my questions...I never felt rushed or foolish. My regular dentist sent me here for a same day dental implant, and when I started to stress about the tooth extraction they told me that they provide IV sedation (through an outside provider). The nurse anesthetist that took care of me during my procedure was amazing as well, making me feel relaxed even before medication began. I have used SSD as my dentist for over 13 years and even tho' I no longer live in the vicinity; it is still worth it for me to drive over 25 miles one way to have Dr. Stang as my dentist. The hygienists are all professional, courteous and friendly as is the front desk. After Standley Shores Dental Group communicated with my insurance, I was provided an initial bill of what SSDG asked me to pay (in late Dec, 2020; almost $700). I made the first payment promptly. Procedures (deep cleaning & filling) went okay, aside from the person doing the work doubting my statement that I had braces as a kid/teen. I paid what they asked right away after each procedure (last one in mid Feb. 2021). More than a month later, I received a bill asking me to pay an additional $280 (40% more than initial bill). I called the office and was informed that my insurance approved to pay less than what SSDG told me initially. I called my insurance and they told me to ask SSDG to contact them, which I did (by phone). I did not receive a follow up call or communication from either to update me (I will leave a negative review for Delta Dental about this too). I only received an email from SSDG on June 16th to contact their office. I take responsibility for not calling right away. However... When I called today (7/7/21), SSDG informed me that they sent my account to collections. In an effort to protect my credit score (811), I contacted the collections agency and paid the bill (SSDG added an additional $75)... despite my extreme dissatisfaction with the level of professionalism displayed by SSDG. Of course, this is a microcosm of the greedy nature of the "healthcare" industrial complex (insurance companies and clinics/hospitals), sucking as much money from us as they can... another reason we need Medicare For All. In any case, I will never go back to Standley Shores Dental Group. read more
