When I strolled into David Liska's office unannounced, I was unaware that he operates solely by appointment. He welcomed me in despite this, the first of his many generosities. After introducing me to his office manager, who is also his sister, I had met everyone in this small, family operated business. I had done some basic research on the ring I was looking for, but David proceeded to provide me with an education worthy of college credit. He taught me how to pick a stone and a cut that gives life, while still maintaining the characteristic depth of a sapphire. My designs were elaborate. My Fiancée is an architect, so I wanted to include Roman columns of the Ionic order, to represent her profession and stability. Secondly, I wanted a sunrise to represent all the adventures we began at dawn. After hours of talking, interpreting, and irritating the laws of physics, David converted my hazy imaginations into the ring my fiancée wears today; a rose gold ring, with a rising sun letting off golden flares, between four exact ionic columns, all supporting a stone that ties it together. Lofty designs came with a price above this soldier's pay grade. David, however, became invested in the project, and our story. I'm a very sentimental person and lucky that my fiance knows it! What I didn't count on was that my fiance and our Jeweler, David Liska would get together and plan a surprise that would make many cry at our wedding...in a good way. My Mom had passed away just 6 months before my wedding. I can't tell you how hard that was to finish what Mom and I had planned, total heartbreak! My mom had left me with a small jewelry box of special rings from her mother, her sister and a great aunt. Because I am an older bride (35) I had known each of my family members before they passed and they were all very loving and kind like my Mom. My fiance told David one day when he was in picking out his wedding band, that I often wished my mom and the rest of the "ladies" could be with me on my wedding day. They got to talking, and without me knowing Mike brought in my old jewelry and David got to designing a beautiful circle broach. He included every single stone and made the many different types and shapes of stones tell their own story. I was so very fortunate to find David Liska in my quest to find a wedding band that would work with my engagement ring. My engagement ring is from a jeweler overseas and it was not practical to obtain the wedding band that was made to fit with the engagement ring. I had been looking for quite some time and every jeweler I met with basically told me that it was not possible to obtain a wedding band that would create the look I was wanting. So, I knew I needed to find a jewelry designer. I found David after doing an on-line search and read the outstanding reviews on yelp. The stars must have been aligned perfectly on 7/20/2015... While in town for my company's annual meeting (Northwestern Mutual) I was fortunate to find David Liska... With a wedding anniversary just 4 days away my time was limited. I spent an hour with David on Monday discussing my wife's jewelry interests.... Her taste... Her likes dislikes & personality. We explored options & I gave Dave a budget range. In the next 24 hours David went to work. By noon Tuesday David had 10 pieces of jewelry for me to review. This review is long overdue, but it should be known that David is an incredible jeweler and a remarkable craftsman. He designed my finance's engagement ring last Summer (it started with a sketch) and she's still over the moon about it. Throughout the entire consultation and design process, he listened carefully, and was so accommodating; the exact opposite of a high pressure salesman. When we arrived at a design and chose a rock, he got to work on a wax model rendering, and eventually set the stone and unveiled his masterpiece. I fully hugged him when I finally saw it. It was exciting to be a part of the design process beginning to end. For the life of me I cannot understand why people would get something as special as an engagement ring by looking at cookie cutter rings in a glass case at a chain store. My name is Brittany Weber and my wedding is coming up May 5th, 2018. I was seeking a custom ring for my engagement ring because it was so unique. I wanted the wedding band to follow as being equally unique, add to the art of the engagement ring, and stand alone pretty flat because my job requires me to wear gloves. When the 'big box' store we worked with was not helpful.David took the time to meet with us and work with us on what options we had to replace the ring. I cannot say enough great things about David! My fiancé proposed to me before Christmas with a family heirloom with very intricate detail in the band. Unfortunately, the ring was too small for me so I needed to have it resized. I was going to be coming back home to Milwaukee for Christmas, so I contacted David about doing the resize. With it being the holiday, he was swamped with work but told me to bring the ring in and he would try to fit the job in between jobs.
