It seemed reasonable so I told them to go ahead. Upon bringing him in, he was acting normally. He was alert and wagging his tail, pulling at his leash, doing all of the normal dog things he does. After being taken into the back for bloodwork for 15 minutes (which felt like way too long), he came back a different dog. He was lethargic, wouldn't stand up, could barely move his head and his gums had lost all of their color (they were white). When I asked the vet (Dr. Dill) what he did to my dog he just shrugged at me, but once he saw his gums had lost all of their color, he became visibly worried and tried giving him some oxygen. After 10 minutes of oxygen it became apparent that he was NOT responding so I grabbed my dog and rushed him to the nearest emergency vet. We spent several hours at the emergency vet while they stabilized him. Once he was stable he was still not acting right and his red blood cell count was down from where it had been when we brought him in. My dog ended up spending 24 hours in the emergency room (totaling over $3500) and is still not fully recovered. The vets at the emergency hospital do not know for sure what happened, but after running all of the tests and observing him for 24 hours, believe it was a chain of events that began due to being overly stressed and having far too much pressure applied during the blood draw that was performed at Foothills. In no world did I ever think that a simple blood draw would almost kill my dog and cost me an additional $3500, but due to the incompetence of Foothills that's how my 6/6 and 6/7 played out. I would never recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone.

Those saying price increased- be realistic they have only raised them as needed- as many other places are FAR FAR more expensive and money driven. Dr. Strauss and Dr Long have treated MY BABY BOY. And both our cats. We have never had any issues and have had top notch care. The reality is that Veterinary clinics are under staffed over worked and doing the best that they can. There are VERY few good veterinarians remaining that actually care- that listen, that do everything they can to help. I have been able to get a new addition in to see them, I have been able to get my new kitten in but yes I did have to wait- Instant gratification doesn't exist in the vet world. I've also been able to get exceptional emergency care when needed though. As a helicopter dog mom whose dog has a massage therapist, a chiropractor, a behaviorist, two trainers and swim coach- I am INSANELY picky about who touches my dog or takes care of him. I have extremely high some what unrealistic expectations of the medical team- and Dr Strauss has never let me down- has understood my concerns and has provided exceptional care. The support staff are flooded with phone calls, follow ups and taking care of the lobby- if you've ever sat there you would see they aren't sitting about chatting it up- they are slammed and constantly busy. So yes you may have to wait but they do make sure that if it's an emergency they address it right away- I'm not sure that people's expectations are realistic especially given today's circumstances. I personally book appointments as far out as I can and don't wait til the last minute because I understand the difficulties and demand- I also know when a business is truly doing their best and genuinely cares- Tahoma's Staff care deeply and give it everything they've got to take care of pets and people- so maybe give them a break!

The vet techs and doctors are always so great at explaining things and transparent about costs. I can tell they genuinely care about animals. My dog was never socialized before we got him. We got him during Covid and he was (roughly) seven months old and was found in a barn in Yakima along with four other dogs. He's friendly, but always sooooo scared in social setting, especially at the vet. Timber Ridge is always so patient with him and they never make me feel bad about his social anxiety (something I've experienced at other vet clinics). On to my experience yesterday, I brought in my pup for an urgent care visit for a skin condition. I dropped him off and went home. After dinner, I looked at the clock and it was nearing closing time. I called and found out they had a vet emergency and it pushed everyone's appointment back. It was a Friday night, I'm sure the staff all had other places they would rather be, but they stayed open late, took care of the emergency, and all the pets under their care. I'm grateful I found a clinic that is so kind, patient, and caring. Keep doing what you're doing! I appreciate you all!

That being said, I think we have to address what happened here with our now passed dog. Benji was ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. We took him here to have a minor surgery for a small wound from playing too hard in the yard with his brother. We were told his vitals were fine, and his surgery went well. As well as him being a very healthy boy. His wound healed very well, but he was so so sick afterwards, very quickly. We took him back 3 more times that WEEK! Telling them he was not eating, drinking, and having horrible bowel movements. Because of his anxious temperament, they just gave him anti diarrheal meds and shots. Of course, we trusted their instincts. The 3rd time (day 7/8 after surgery) we took him back, and they FINALLY did blood work and told us he had a 10% chance because of acute kidney disease, and sent us to Old Growth ER . We have talked to many, and I mean MANY people in the industry, including Old Growth ER where we had to heartbreakingly put him down the next morning. Old Growth vet team told us this was the worst case of kidney failure they have EVER seen. We requested ALL records, and believe he was extremely neglected. Our dog was so healthy, he was so full of life. Courtney, the Vet said it herself. As you can imagine, it has been so hard to understand. When we called to get some closure, they told us "sometimes, these things happen" I would give 0 stars if I could. We are still so heart broken, he passed away in May 2026. Please, PLEASE read this before trusting this clinic.

She has a gentle yet confident touch that set my girls (bonded sisters) immediately at ease. They come out to greet her when she arrives. I know she's extremely busy and she still (during reasonable business hours) responds to my frantic, not-necessarily-during-reasonable-business-hours texts. She can tell the difference between "this is dangerous and needs immediate care" versus "okay, client is nervous but this won't kill her kitties for me to wait on". Her in-home price isn't cheap, but if it saves me having to wrestle my girls into their carriers, take them for a loathed car ride, subject them to the smells, sounds, and waiting with other animals, and them being afraid of me for awhile after that, it's worth it. Dr. Cutting was so patient, since my Bailey is a fearful dog. She let Bailey come to her, she knew just the right treats to help her relax. She got vaccinated and didn't even know she had been! By the time of the next visit, Bailey greeted her like an old friend, and Dr. Cutting was able to conduct a more thorough exam. On June 14/2026, we got a call from our dog sitter informing us that our dog got a small puncture on the side of her body (maybe from a protruding small branch on a bush on the sitter's back yard) so the dog sitter took her to this place., Button Vet. Hospital on Durango street, South Tacoma Way. The bill was $371.18 for the following: Outpatient exam: $130.00 Outpatient procedure: $51.00 (from shaving the fur around the puncture wound which was less than half an inch in diameter) Pharmacy: $129.00 (antibiotics, two different kind of pain pills?, crazy!) Service fee (for what?): $60.00 Total $371.81. Insane! This is a rip off! I wish our sitter did not take her to this place. It is not an emergency. She got a small puncture and it did not seem to bother her. I think antibiotic would be sufficient if that. Our dog still runs around, plays on the dog park this morning, and still eats normally. I enclosed the picture of the punctured wound. Beware! This place will milk you dry!
