Dr. Momtaheni was our third opinion for my son's medical issue. My son was in pain with many other symptoms including impending permenant damage to his face, teeth, jaw etc. We went to two doctors before getting a recommendation for Dr. Momtaheni. (My regular dentist, now retired, had referred me to him.) When the crown (obtained through my regular dentist) over one of the implants repeatedly came loose, I went back to Dr. Momtaheni to see if he might resolve the problem. I had a baby tooth extracted and implant post installed in one visit. Dr. Momtaheni's office is outfitted with the latest imaging and oral surgery equipment for the most accurate, efficient, minimally invasive treatment. Initially I was apprehensive about oral surgery of any kind, just a phobia of mine. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my fears were unfounded as Dr. Momtahemi not only provided excellent pain management, but also the least invasive procedure, which helped speed recovery. Dr Momtaheni has worked on 1000's of implants and I was happy to be the beneficiary from his wealth of experience. I will only say be very careful if he tells you that you need jaw surgery or any surgery for that matter. Make sure you get a second opinion. This man has ruined my life and cost me a couple thousand dollars. I would never recommend him to anyone. I would never trust somebody of his character performing surgery on me. I went to Dr. Momtaheni after experiencing lingering pain from a root canal. Over the course of a year, he was never able to diagnose my problem. He instead prescribed me several medications, one of which made me ill. He also performed three different oral surgeries on me, eventually removing my tooth. Dr. Momtaheni is an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable oral surgeon. My son was getting orthodontic treatment done. It was discovered that his molars were growing in sideways and impacted, causing a lot of pain and making it difficult for the tooth to grow out and his teeth to move properly. My son is a very anxious person. He was so worried about surgery and blood and all things a teenager would imagine. Dr. Momtaheni eased my son's nerves by explaining to him exactly what he was going to do and why. He gave my son so much respect as an individual who had concerns and did not speak "down" to my son at all. My son was so appreciative not to be treated as "just a kid." The procedures went without any issues. One interesting thing was that there were 2 cysts that were discovered that were blocking the teeth from growing properly. Dr. Momtaheni removed them and sent them to Columbia to be tested to be sure. The office is quiet and comfortable. The waiting room is like a living room. I have been meaning to write this review for a long time. I, myself, am a dentist who consulted Dr. Momtaheni to correct my bite and to improve my esthetics after years of bruxism and jaw clenching led to tooth wear and hypertrophy of my facial musculature. Prior to visiting Dr. Momtaheni, I sought the opinions of two other oral surgeons, both of whom claimed that there was no solution to my problem, and that they wouldn't be willing to perform the surgery since it was "too risky." I also spoke with two orthodontists, who also maintained that there was no true fix for my chief complaint. On a whim and as a last ditch attempt, I researched Manhattan orthodontists online and scheduled an appointment w/ Dr. Joseph Hung. Dr. Hung evaluated me and referred me to Dr. Momtaheni's office, since he knew he was adept at handling the most complex surgical cases. After a full workup, Dr. Momtaheni gave me some incredibly exciting news. He would be able to correct my jaw relationship with orthognathic surgery, as well as address a few of my facial esthetic concerns. A date was booked, and I underwent double jaw surgery. In the days and weeks leading up to my surgery as well as the weeks after the surgery, Dr. Momtaheni and his staff were readily available to answer all of my questions. They did a fantastic job at putting me at ease. They even offered to have one of their nurses stay overnight in my apartment the night immediately after the surgery to ensure that any possible post-operative issues would be relayed to Dr. Momtaheni right away. The procedure went very smoothly with no complications. The final result was and is outstanding. To say that my appearance improved is quite the understatement. This was indeed a life changing experience. I have zero regrets and am so fortunate to have met and know Dr. Momtaheni not only as a patient but also as a professional colleague.
