When I said I was absolutely not getting all that work done, their attitudes changed from pleasant to angry. Still, first step was to schedule a cleaning. When I asked if I could simply get a regular cleaning as I have had for the last 40 years, the answer was no - the "treatment plan" calls for a deep cleaning. I said no and walked on out. Watch your pocketbooks or they will have their hands in it. Everyone is very professional and pleasant to talk to, the facility is clean and beautiful, there are TV's in each dental station where I can watch HGTV or some other show while getting work done, and there is a small play area where little ones am be entertained while I parent gets their work done too! Dr. DiStefano's staff from the front to back were wonderful. I absolutely loved Dr. DiStefano! I was having tooth pain and she not only made me feel like she cared but that she was going to get my problem taken care of. The solution was a root canal in a tooth that wasn't even hurting. I found it hard to believe but it was true! She explained why that happens and when I got that tooth taken care of...my pain was gone! She is friendly, caring and KNOWS WHAT SHE'S DOING! I had a crown down here and it…read morecracked in half right before christmas. the dentist who did that crown is no longer at this practice, but I have to admit i still felt like there should have been some sort of guarantee that the crown would last. I've had another crown for 28 years, it's just a porcelain crown and it's in the front. It never cracked, now i have this zirconia crown that is supposed to be much stronger, but it cracked in half? eating something that wasn't hard? I also have been told i need all my old dental work removed and re-done, quoted over $5k in dental work. I don't understand why a dentist would want to remove everything that is fine the way it is. I constantly deny the work but every year they bring up old silver filling should be removed, they're toxic, etc. all these old filling are larger, so they quoted me having them removed and crowns replacing them. I'm probably going to be switching dentists this year to someone that is smaller practice.

The first year, he tells me I need an x-ray. He repeats this a second year. I told him my regular dentist does it. The 3rd year, he told me he would not clean the teeth without charging me around $100 for X-rays. This, while I am already in his chair for a cleaning. What real choice do I have but to accept his blackmail (i.e. get up and walk out without the teeth cleaning, facing a possible cancelled appointment penalty)? So I had to get Xrays I didn't need, since my regular dentist takes them. I told him too many Xrays are not good, and he gave some lame science to say Xrays are harmless. Can you believe this nonsense? In fact, it has been announced recently by the ADA that annual Xrays are unnecessary. He also pushed and pushed for him to replace a chipped crown in the back of my mouth, which has been like that for years and that my regular dentist says to leave alone, since it causes no pain and works fine. Reesman's crown cost was a couple of thousand dollars = all this while I am on a two-week vacation and just came in for a cleaning!! Even his dental assistant chimes in and tells me I should it. She is not a dentist and her unsolicited advice was completely inappropriate, but he said nothing to her. I told him no, I wasn't interested in paying thousands of dollars to fix a problem that doesn't exist, especially by a dentist 1000 miles from home. I then went back to my regular dentist for something else a month later - an Ivy-league trained dentist, btw - and he again confirmed it was TOTALLY UNNECESSARY to replace this crown that did not bother me. A patient of Reesman's I know reported him ordering an expensive $400 Panorex (advanced Xray) procedure during a routine annual visit, a completely unnecessary (and unethical, IMO) treatment. I spoke to 3 friends who are dentists (one of whom even teaches dentistry at Columbia) and they all agreed that giving a Panorex during an annual visit, if there is no problem reported by the patient, is uncalled for. Reesman is a dangerous hustler. Patients Beware.
