Great dental group. Been there about 18 months. Everyone…read moreI've encountered has redefined my expectations--in the best way. My first dentist retired, and the replacement I inherited is nice, knowledgeable, and adjusts to my particular concerns. My hygienist is my favorite part of every appointment. Even the people in billing are smart, insurance savvy, and help me make informed decisions that align my needs with my wallet.

This place is an absolute joke since being bought out by whatever money hungry corporation bought…read morethem out. Their billing practices are ridiculous. What a horrible experience I had there yesterday. I'm having a crown put in which I paid in full $800+ (after insurance) for before they would even begin to start the process. You have a broken tooth, you're in pain but we won't help you until you pay the whole thing. Can you imagine breaking your arm and going to the ER to be told, yea we can fix that for you but you have to pay in full before we touch it, but I digress. I pay the money because it was the option I was given. The experience itself was quite painful to the point I had tears streaming down my face. I barely sit up from the chair, and the receptionist is standing there to take me back to her office to make sure I pay the $13 difference they are showing from the already $800+ I paid last week. Am I debating that I owe the money, no but is it in poor taste to have the receptionist standing in the doorway of your exam room to shake you down for $13 that they didn't collect from you originally? YES!! Send a bill in the mail like a normal doctor's office, I don't know, maybe allow the patient to receive their explanation of benefits from the insurance company before, or heck, even during your shakedown. You make your patients feel like cows being herded in and out. Not to mention being treated like you've been on the lam evading paying the Racine Dental Group $13 balance. The revolving door of Doctors and hygienists should tell you all you need to know about what a joke this place has become. If this was a review about the actual care I received it would be 5 stars so apologies to the doctors, assistants and hygienists there that have worked with me, you all are top notch. The greedy corporate folk that have turned this place I've been going to since a child with Dr. Jerry are the ones who the one star is going to.

The first year, he tells me I need an x-ray. He repeats this a second year. I told him my regular dentist does it. The 3rd year, he told me he would not clean the teeth without charging me around $100 for X-rays. This, while I am already in his chair for a cleaning. What real choice do I have but to accept his blackmail (i.e. get up and walk out without the teeth cleaning, facing a possible cancelled appointment penalty)? So I had to get Xrays I didn't need, since my regular dentist takes them. I told him too many Xrays are not good, and he gave some lame science to say Xrays are harmless. Can you believe this nonsense? In fact, it has been announced recently by the ADA that annual Xrays are unnecessary. He also pushed and pushed for him to replace a chipped crown in the back of my mouth, which has been like that for years and that my regular dentist says to leave alone, since it causes no pain and works fine. Reesman's crown cost was a couple of thousand dollars = all this while I am on a two-week vacation and just came in for a cleaning!! Even his dental assistant chimes in and tells me I should it. She is not a dentist and her unsolicited advice was completely inappropriate, but he said nothing to her. I told him no, I wasn't interested in paying thousands of dollars to fix a problem that doesn't exist, especially by a dentist 1000 miles from home. I then went back to my regular dentist for something else a month later - an Ivy-league trained dentist, btw - and he again confirmed it was TOTALLY UNNECESSARY to replace this crown that did not bother me. A patient of Reesman's I know reported him ordering an expensive $400 Panorex (advanced Xray) procedure during a routine annual visit, a completely unnecessary (and unethical, IMO) treatment. I spoke to 3 friends who are dentists (one of whom even teaches dentistry at Columbia) and they all agreed that giving a Panorex during an annual visit, if there is no problem reported by the patient, is uncalled for. Reesman is a dangerous hustler. Patients Beware.
