Dr. Soomekh is a fantastic doctor. I visited him several times for orthotics over the years. His bedside manner was always impressive, his knowledge of the feet and surrounding areas was great when assessing what was causing me discomfort. He wasn't pushy and didn't try to sell me on anything else i didn't need, which a lot of doctors in his field might do since patients don't know better and will trust what their doctor recommends (which was the case with my previous doctor). Dr. Soomekh is honest, professional and charismatic. I haven't visited his new office yet but I hear it is absolutely beautiful...if you're having foot pain, Dr. Soomekh is your guy! read more

I was totally misdiagnosed by Dr. Soomekh. He felt my foot and said I had fat pad loss. He didn't do any imaging, not even ultrasound. The orthotics they made caused my back and legs to ache so much that I had to stop wearing them after a few days. They made a second pair of orthotics which were just as useless and painful. I went to a second podiatrist who couldn't believe that Dr. Soomekh hadn't done any imaging. I had an MRI done and was diagnosed with bursitis in 2 places. I was given orthotics with far more arch support and which didn't cause any pain. I also had cryosurgery done after a few months which brought relief for only five months. I wouldn't recommend cryosurgery in the foot since it traumatizes and injures the nerves. My pain continued, so I went to a third podiatrist/surgeon (Daniel Geller) who immediately did an ultrasound. He could see 3 anomalies, one of which was a neuroma. He ordered a different type of MRI from the last one I'd had done. From that he was able to diagnose a neuroma, a bursa and a third object which couldn't be determined. A month later I had surgery and had the neuroma and a dried up old bursa removed, the second bursa was left intact since it wasn't bothering me. What podiatrist diagnoses long-term foot pain without doing an MRI or ultrasound? Dr. Soomekh knew how active I used to be and the type of stress my feet would have incurred and yet all he could come up with was fat pad loss and substandard orthotics. read more

Thank you Dr. Soomekh! My heel was hurting for months. I saw 2 different doctors who kept giving me painful steroid shots, yet the pain still continued. When the pain no longer subsided, two of my friends on separate occasions recommended I see Dr. Soomekh. So reluctantly, I went, and was so impressed. Dr. Soomekh took his time with me to explain that I may not have plantar fascitis at all, and that it could be something else. I was confused because so many other doctors kept telling me I had PF. After an MRI and nerve test, Dr. Soomekh diagnosed me with Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, it's like carpal tunnel syndrome, except in the foot. I had to have a surgery to take the pressure off the nerve. My heel pain is now GONE. Dr. Soomekh knew how to make the right diagnosis and gave me great treatment. I would recommend him over and over. read more

I spent a long time looking for a DPM that I felt would be right for my bunion surgery. I could not be happier that I found Dr. Soomekh and chose him to do my surgery. On my first visit he took his time with me, listened and explained the condition to me more clearly than any other surgeon I consulted with (and there were many). My local ER x-rayed the foot that wouldn't bear weight when it touched the floor this Monday morning. "You may have a fracture so wear this boot, stay off your foot and see a podiatrist if it is no better in a week." By Wednesday, my foot was extremely red, very swollen and painful. I called Dr. David Soomekh's office and could be seen at 2:15. A rush to the car (as much as one can in a wheelchair) and my husband began the 21/2 hour drive to Dr. Soomekh. I arrived and with almost no wait was wheeled into the examining room by a most efficient staff person named Roxie. She took a look at my foot and almost immediately moved me to another space where a state of the art ct scanner went to work. In no time I was back in the original examining room, shortly followed by Dr Soomekh who did a thorough exam. "Now let's take a look at the images and see if it is what I think it is!" He showed me crystal clear images, slice by slice and at several angles. There it was, clear as day, a tiny bone I was born with (that most people are not), broken. Dr. Soomekh's analytical mind and understanding of the anatomy of the foot and ankle made me understand why the LA Ballet company has him as their doctor. It became clear this kind and gentle man wanted me, not just himself, to fully understand my issue and my treatment options. He took the time necessary to explain so clearly to me all aspects of what was going on . We, at his suggestion, did not think immediately surgery but rather a conservative approach, giving my foot a chance to heal itself. Knowing I had a 5 1/2 hour turnaround, he was almost apologetic to tell me I needed to return in three weeks. I will drive the distance again and again with gratitude for Dr. Soomekh. His level of respect for me as a patient was exemplary! The sincerity with which he said, "I am here for you" communicated he really meant it, no question! Dr. Soomekh is a miracle worker!!! I had a very very bad case of planter's warts on the heel of my foot. There were lesions almost completely covering my entire heel. Over a three year period I went to five different doctors, including 4 podiatrists. Nobody could get rid of it. Nobody even got close to getting rid of it! I spent thousands of dollars and went to doctors every two weeks for years! People were recommending surgery! I thought it was hopeless. I went in for a long-standing nail issue I was having. It was starting to be an aesthetic issue. I tried all the over-the-counter remedies. Finally I gave in. I went in to see Dr. S. After 3 laser treatments and about 4 months (I know seems like a long time), I noticed the natural nail growing in. I am finally done with this! Well worth the wait and priced very reasonably. Dr. Soomekh did a 'Cheilectomy' on my foot 6 months ago which is similar to a Bunionectomy. I had been putting this off for years as I had heard it was quite painful. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Soomekh as she had had a similar surgery with him and RAVED about him! SHE WAS RIGHT!!! He was very personable and explained everything what was going on with me in a way that was very clear so I understood everything that he was going to do and what to expect afterwards. Dr. Soomekh is awesome, and his staff is excellent. I have been his patient for the last 2 years, and I have been so grateful that I found him. I love playing tennis and I had my first sprained ankle about 10 years ago. I never got it treated. I kept rolling my ankle a few times a year. After awhile the pain got too hard to bear. I visited Dr. Soomekh, after I had bad experiences with other doctors. He was able to properly diagnose me and he explained everything to me in a way I could understand it. He took his time to give me my options, which I really appreciated. I tried ankle braces and physical therapy, but it was clear that I needed more. He explained that I needed to have my ankle ligaments repaired. I had surgery about a year ago, and I can't even express the difference it has made in my quality of life. I am back playing tennis, with NO pain and NO more rolling of my ankle. I have brought my wife to see him for a cyst she had and my kids for their flat feet to get orthodic insoles made. Great guy! Went in for an uncomfortable pulling in my left foot. His incredibly friendly staff had me in the exam room immediately after I filled out the electronic paperwork on a mini iPad (so cool). They took X-rays and Dr. Soomekh examined both my feet. Turned out it wasn't anything major, so he gave me some tips to help take care of the problem (stretching, new shoes) and had me fitted for custom orthotics. I have to add that his amazing staff went through a lot of trouble going back and forth with my insurance to make sure I was covered. This was greatly appreciated! read more

Honestly, Dr. Soomekh has the best bedside manner of any healthcare professional I have ever been to. He explains things that are happening with sensitivity and a calm demeanor, and educates without condescending. He is 100% present with you in the room, and though he is efficient I never feel rushed. One appointment my wait time was a little longer than normal, but still well within reason and he sincerely apologized for keeping me waiting... and I really believe he meant it. I would go out of my network and pay out of pocket to receive this kind of care. Dr. Soomekh was recommended to me by my best friend, who is the daughter-in-law of a previous president of a major motion picture studio, and is extremely discerning. She raved to me about Dr. Soomekh, and since she has been 100% spot-on in every other recommendation, I knew I would be in great hands. Sure enough, I had a stellar experience from beginning to end. I had experienced some mysterious knee problems, and one of the things recommended to me was to get orthotics. I decided to invest in custom-made ones from a great doctor, hence my visit. During my initial visit, I saw Dr. Soomekh, who immediately discerned what was necessary for me to get the most benefit, and was extremely courteous, professional, and kind. I soon got the call that my first pair of orthotics was ready, and when I picked them up I placed an order for a second pair, which were also prepared for me lickety-split. I couldn't be happier with the orthotics, which fit my shoes as if they were made for them (which they were, of course), and give me noticeable support, which gives me a sense of confidence and assurance that I am walking in a protected fashion, which will hopefully prevent me from incurring any other mysterious knee ailments. I LOVE DR. SOOMEKH. I'm a runner and for 8 months I was walking on my toes and could not run because I had so much heel pain. I had all the treatments including painful shots, and nothing worked. I was seeing my internist who referred me to Dr. Soomekh. When I went to see him, I had virtually no wait time and his staff was so nice and they actually paid attention to me. Dr. Soomekh was so nice and patient with me. He told me about a treatment of putting my own blood and stem cells into my heel. It sounded pretty high tech. I was at my last straw, so I tried it. WOW! It was very convenient that he had a CAT scan machine especially made for feet in the office, saving me a trip across town and another appointment. I thought that being in Beverly Hills, this office might be more concerned with cosmetic procedures, but the doctor already knew what was wrong with me by the way I described my injury. I am a ballet teacher and have developed hallux rigidus. I REALLY need my toe in working order to be able to work. My livelihood depends on it! I searched the net long and far looking for a great podiatrist/surgeon. Dr Soomekh looked like the doc for me. I drove from Northern California for an office visit. When I first arrived at Dr Soomekh's office I spotted the doctor in the hallway outside his office helping a woman pick up papers she had dropped on the floor. My immediate impression was, wow, this seems like a nice guy. The rest of the visit only increased my respect and admiration for this doctor. I have now had one in office visit with Dr Soomekh and 2 zoom appointments. I am incredibly impressed with how patient he is and how well he explains medical details. I am also grateful that he really listens and is willing to go conservatively step by step, even if the process to correct the problem might take longer than he would like. Dr. Soomekh performed my paroneal tendon repair on Dec 21 of 2009. He was AMAZING. I am a professional dancer actor and athlete so my feet are my career! He saved my career! He did a great job and was very nice and calming. I worked very hard in my physical therapy and followed his Dr's orders to the T and was back on my feet in 3 months time with a little bit of residual pain and then no pain after an additional 3 months. I'm looking at all of the other 5 star reviews and I'm not at all surprised. Dr. Soomekh is the best! I had bunion pain for years until I reluctantly decided to have surgery. I had heard so many horror stories about the pain and long healing time, etc. I had no problems and only some pain (normal pain) associated with surgery. With the meds he prescribed it was fine. Bone was completely healed at 7 weeks. By 8 weeks in I was in tennis shoes, and 11 weeks in I'm able to wear any shoe that is comfortable to me. No restrictions. Best of all my foot looks great and am able to wear all types of shoes again for the first time in years! Best decision I have made in a long time. read more

I found Dr. Soomekh after having a botched neuroma surgery at UCLA. He went in and repaired it properly. Had no issues after the treatment over 3 years ago. I just returned for another issue on the other foot and he is conservative in treatment and had me try a few things before injecting including wearing a boot, having an MRI and after both were negative he injected into the ligament and joint where the pain was coming from and we are hoping this is the answer. He wants to follow up by phone in a few days. He is always smiling and is a great listener as well. I could't say enough great things about it.
