Dr. Soomekh is the best podiatrist I have ever met. He answered all my questions without any hesitation. He knew exactly what he was doing and his staff was exceptionally welcoming, very patient and polite with me. He gave me clear and simple instructions on how to maintain my pain in my ankle. I went to see Dr. Soomekh for a second opinion on some discomfort I was having in my achilles heel on both feet. Although my diagnosis doesn't have a clear cut cure, (I have a minor case of Haglung's Syndrome), he was able to clearly identify the issue and recommend therapy that has thus far alleviated my symptoms. I realized that the first doctor didn't really know what he was talking about. He just called it inflammation. So in the end, it was comforting that Dr. Soomekh actually knew the official term of my condition. Aside from that, he was also nice to deal with. Dr. Soomekh not only is helping me with a bunion but also a tarsal tunnel release since I have nerve damage in my right leg and 7 fused discs in my back. Most doctors are very cut and dry in their advise towards pain....drugs, therapy, etc. But Dr. Soomekh was willing to thing outside the box because he was willing to listen to me and what was happening. I got into the fad of "barefoot" running much to my dismay. In the beginning I thought it was the greatest thing, after about a month I started having leg pain and serious foot pain. I was referred to Dr. Soomekh. He explained to me that although this trend of barefoot running may be appropriate for some people, the majority runners need to be supported with appropriate shoes. My foot flattens too much. He said that I just avoided stress fractures in my foot and leg. He made me custom orthotic insoles. The process was so easy and Dr. Soomekh was so thorough. I got new running shoes, put my orthotics in them and started running again. I feel so much better and I am able to run long distances without pain. What a difference! He really saved my feet! Early this year, I had been diagnosed in my hometown as having a bunion on my right foot and was advised to wait as long as possible before having any surgery. I was no longer able to wear high heels because of bone build-up on the top of my foot, and the discomfort wearing many of my shoes and when I ran was progressing. Unhappy with this recommendation, I decided to pursue another opinion with Dr. Soomekh in Beverly Hills. Dr. Soomekh did a conical CT Scan that showed that I had a substantial degenerative arthritis--a fairly substantial loss of cartilage at the base of my large toe--and not a bunion. He presented all of my options, the pros and cons. I decided to move forward with surgery. Dr. Soomekh performed a cheilectomy and inserted an amnion sheath in the joint for protection. I gave him the option of during further work once he opened up the area, but he found it unnecessary. So, I was 3 weeks in a walking boot (no crutches!) and was able to drive a car with a special shoe he provided after 6 days. The cold compression therapy and non-steroidal inflammatory meds kept me pain and discomfort-free. Two more weeks in athletic shoes and then I began to challenge my foot with walking and running. Now at 8 weeks post-op, I still have some swelling (this will last for a few months), but I can run and take long hikes up the hills, and get into many of my shoes again. I wore heels for a special night out and did very well! My goal is to be back in high heels on occasion, discomfort-free, and feel I am working successfully towards that goal. I am so very happy that I took the time from my busy work life to do this for myself. I was completely unafraid of this surgery because of my confidence in Dr. Soomekh's abilities to provide me the very best outcome possible. He has communicated with me throughout the process, and I have been recommending him to everyone because I am having such a positive experience. I agree fully with all the other reviewers. Dr. Soomekh is top notch! He is super knowledgeable and explains everything clearly and calmly. I went to see him for a repetitive impact foot injury and he helped me get relief right away. I was completely cured within 2 weeks. Pretty amazing. He was also kind enough to give me some excellent advice on a foot situation my daughter is struggling with in Washington DC. If it doesn't get solved soon I'll probably fly her out here to be treated properly by Dr Soomekh. Recommend highly. read more

I hurt my toe dancing around with my 3 year old daughter about a month ago and didn't think anything of it, but after one month of pain I decided to get it checked out. I called his office and they were very accommodating. Dr. Soomekh was so knowledgeable and had such a great bed side manner. After taking x rays I found out that indeed it was broken. He showed me how to wrap it and what my limitations should be. He also told me what to expect in the coming weeks. Overall it was such a pleasant experience. I was traveling to LA on business and a weekend at Coachella and had a very painful ingrown toenail. I read a lot of reviews of various doctors and Dr. Soomekh had really positive feedback. I was able to get in to see him the afternoon of the day I called, which was a relief because I could hardly walk. Mark, who took my call for an appointment was very nice and helpful. He was the person who also greeted me upon arrival and he was just as great in person. Dr. Soomekh was very kind, professional and gave me a very clear assessment of my options for treatment. He performed the treatment which involved numbing the toe removing a section of my big toenail. I was given clear instructions for caring for the toe. I was able to finish my business work the next day and spend the next two days trudging around Coachella on foot without discomfort. Amazing! Thank you Dr. Soomekh for doing a successful foot surgery for my mom. She had a bunion bone on both feet, and the first surgery was not very successful with a different doctor. She was afraid of performing a 2nd surgery on her other foot, as this was a more difficult one. We were recommended Dr. Soomekh by one of our friends who he helped in the past. Anyways, Dr. Soomekh explained everything in detail, and answered all questions that we had. Furthermore, he was always reachable via phone or even email. In the past, we couldn't get ahold of doctors due to their busy schedule. But Dr. Soomekh always found time to speak with us. The surgery went excellent, and the recovery time was even shorter than he initially said. Keep in mind that we went through a very difficult foot ligament reconstruction. My mom is finally walking again. We highly recommend this doctor for any foot-related issues. We were skeptical at first, but he made our experience A+! Top notch doctor! read more

dr soomekh is everything all of the five-stars say he is. the first time i saw him was a few years ago when he was working with another practice group. he fixed me perfectly. fast forward a few years...i have new and different foot issues. i go back to the group, but, alas, no dr soomekh. so i tracked him down and ran him through my insurances website but he didnt come up as a network dr. so i was assigned to another dr in his old group. after a few weeks and not feeling like i was moving foward and becoming fustrated i called my insurance company to figure out how much more it would cost me to see soomekh. my good fortune!...he was in my network! website didnt reflect that, but a phone call did. so i quickly made the switch. super happy and comfortable i am back in his care. im laying out with my foot up and using a great ice water machine recovering from nueroma surgery. i have no doubt ill recover thoroughly and in a timely fashion. thats our track record...i always get better with him. thanks dr soomekh, you rock my foot world. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Soomehk, he's one of those few Dr.s that really takes his time to explain everything and listens to all you're concerns and questions. Not happy. I found Dr. Soomekh here on yelp so I called to make sure they took my insurance before booking an appointment. I was told they did take my insurance and I was thrilled to make an appointment. The visit was fine and I mentioned as I was leaving and paying my co-pay how happy I was that the visit was covered. Then, a few weeks later, I received a rather high bill. I called to ask why I was billed so much considering my insurance was covering. At which point the same person who said they took my insurance said I'd have to take it up with their billing department. I called the billing department and was told that they would call the office person to verify what she told me and call me back. Fine, no problem as I know exactly what transpired. Needless to say, the billing person called me back and said the office person never told me they took my insurance!!! Seriously!!?? Now it's obviously too late and I'm stuck with a bill that's more than my monthly premium. Unbelievable. read more

I took my father (in his 80's) to see Dr. Soomekh for a second opinion, after another podiatrist had recommended a foot amputation just below the knee, following a difficult heart surgery which caused gangrene to start in the toes of one foot. The dire situation was clearly in need of a surgical solution, but --- so far it only affected his toes, and this guy was suggesting my father losing half his leg! Dr. Soomekh said it was too soon for the surgery, and attended my father for several months, changing the dressings on his foot, and keeping a close eye on the situation. When it was time he performed the surgery, amputating only half his foot --- a surgery which healed very well. My father now walks with a cane, and with his tennis shoes one, you can't even tell he's missing anything. So -- when I came upon his name on Yelp, I felt compelled to write a review, because while bedside manner and office staff and all that are nice, they are really nothing compared with the kinds of issues I am talking about. Dr. Soomekh is also very friendly, kind and has a new beautiful office. His bills may be a little higher than some -- but, it's worth it! read more

I was a patient of Dr. Soomekh for two foot surgeries recently. One foot had a pretty severe bunion and the other had a boney mass on the side of the foot. Dr. Soomekh was very patient and reassuring with me before the surgeries. He listened to all my concerns and took plenty of time with me to discuss solutions. During and after the first surgery, I was completely taken care of by his staff and the surgical center. In fact, even though I got pain medication for the recovery, I only had to take it once when the anesthesia wore off. There really was relatively no pain for most of my recovery. And, I was able to walk a few days after surgery (in a surgical boot.) Eight weeks and I was in tennis shoes. He performed the second surgery after we had both decided there was enough healing time for the first foot and again, no pain, and no problems at all during that surgery. It's now been three months since both surgeries and my scars are minimal. I'm back in my shoes and doing full workouts again. My feet haven't looked or felt this good in years! I really can't speak highly enough of Dr. Soomekh and recommend him with complete confidence to anyone having foot problems. He's terrific!! read more

I'm a tough patient, lots of questions and skeptical of mainstream doctors (lean more holistic), but I've lucked out as of late. I was referred to Dr. Soomekh by orthopedist, Andrew Weiss (whom we love and trust). I brought my son in and had the requisite dread of discovering a new doctor, anticipating the worst (rushed, dismissive, ambiguous etc). I was so pleasantly surprised. This may be the most attentive, patient specialty doctor and staff I've ever met. The office is in Beverly Hills, with a high end air and beautiful decor. I thought maybe my down to earth, verbose mannerisms might be ill received, but everyone was so wonderful. Dr. Soomekh gave us very clear guidance and a specific treatment plan. My son and I left reassured and in great spirits. We're dealing with a prolonged, kind of elusive issue that requires patience and trust on our parts. I feel extremely lucky to have Dr. Soomekh and Dr. Weiss managing my son's care. read more
