My father went to Dr. Stone for vertigo. Dr. Stone did absolutely nothing to help my 65 year old father fix this painful process. Upon meeting Dr. Stone and explaining his vertigo dr. Stone ran a simple head tests and ear test and confirmed it was vertigo (obviously I just told you it's vertigo) After completing his "tests" he simply told my father to wait it out and sent my father on his way. My father suffered with severe vertigo for three weeks from listening to this unknowable doctors advice before one night he had to be rushed to the emergency room for falling flat on his face. This new doctor did a few head movements on my father and gave him a 72 hour routine which he ordered him to do every night before bed. The doctor assured him that upon completing these head movement routines that his vertigo will go away! Well guess what? My father did so and now vertigo gone!!! Dr. Stone, If truly caring for your patients is not your main priority than please get out of the way for the doctors who will make patients their number one goal. read more

I made an appointment to see Dr. Stone for my ear because I had ringing in my ear for about a week which was affecting my sleep. The appointment process was simple and straightforward. The staff was very friendly and pleasant to deal with. On the day of the appointment, Dr. Stone saw me right away, without making me wait. Being seen on time is actually a big deal for me. It feels like it's become standard practice for many doctors to have long wait times for their patients, so I really appreciate it when my time is respected. Dr. Stone was great. Knew exactly what the problem was and not more than a day later the ringing in my ear was gone. He did a hearing test also to make sure my hearing was okay. And lastly, I went in without insurance and I have to say the price was very fair. In fact, my bill was actually less than the rough price range I was given at the time of making my appointment. I recently went here the first time and thought things were fine after the visit copay was paid. All was well. When I get my itemized statement I see an added procedure I don't remember any added procedure and find out that during the visit, when he said he needed to clean one of my ears to check it out was the procedure which would of been nice to know before he did this. On top of that, the prescription given was not in production, so I had to call back to receive an alternative medication and never received any follow-up until I called about this new cost where supposedly they did set up a new prescription and nobody informed me so I had to call the pharmacy and now it will be ready tomorrow. Last but not least, since Dr.Stone has been around for 40 years and this apparently is not a common problem or complaint they can just be dismissive of you. read more

Great Doctor - Great experience! I was having trouble with a severe right ear infection. I went to a local Urgent Care and they did little to fix my problem. Doctor Stone made me feel right at ease and cured my problem rapidly and effectively. I've now learned to always go to a specialist if you can and especially one as good as doctor Stone! read more

I do not believe Dr. Stone is a bad doctor, but I do not think he is continuing his education in order to keep up with current information and treatments. I had vertigo and it was pretty bad. I saw Dr. Stone 2 times and was told both times that the only thing he could do was to prescribe some relaxants that would make me drowsy. I cant be drowsy during the day so this was not an option for me. He told me that my problem was probably crystals in my inner ear but the only way to determine if this were true or not was to do an autopsy. This is actually what he said. 2 years later....I was desperate and went on yelp. I found a Doctor in San Ramon that saw me and actually did a test to verify that indeed i had vertigo caused by inner ear crystals and sent me to a physical therapist that specialized in this type of thing (who knew?!) I was shown some very easy at home exercises to do and they worked almost immediately. I do these exercises when ever I start feeling dizzy and I have been symptom free for months. I was as furious with Dr. Stone's poor diagnosis as I was relieved that I wasn't dizzy anymore! I don't think Doctor Stone purposefully gave me poor care, but I do believe that he is not keeping current, and because of that his patients are not getting the best care. read more

Dr. Stone is one of the best doctors I've seen of any kind, period. I've seen him twice now -- once for a deviated septum nine years ago, for which he performed a surgery that was profoundly helpful. The second visit was today. I have been down with a horrible sore throat for the past two days and an urgent care facility feared that it might be due to a dangerous throat virus -- epiglottitis -- which can close the airway off and can cause death in some cases. They were adamant about me seeing an ENT late this afternoon, but after calling around to get me in somewhere, they couldn't find anyone who would stay open for me. They suggested I try the emergency room. Upon leaving the office, I immediately called Dr. Stone. I told his receptionist of my predicament and, despite the fact they had closed a little while before, Dr. Stone insisted I come right over. He's a genuinely nice man, extremely thorough, great with his patients. His staff is extremely friendly and shares his care for his patients. I don't post Yelp reviews often, but is is certainly deserved. I couldn't recommend Dr. Stone and his office more highly. read more

I feel very fortunate to have chosen Dr. Stone as my ENT specialist. He did an excellent job explaining and performing my deviated septum surgery. I breathe much better now and can actually sleep deeper and wake up refreshed. I was consistently congested at about 60/80% Left/Right sides and after the surgery Im about 10/20%. I had cancelled my surgery twice due to other health issues and Dr. Stone was not the least bit disturbed about it. I was ready to apologize at the Pre-Op appointment but Dr. Stone came into the room and began his checkup and was polite and attentive as he usually is. Im sure it cost him some money when I cancelled so I was glad he kept me the patient in mind and not $$. His staff is great and very pleasant to deal with. They worked with me on setting up new surgery dates, gathering my health records and even contacting my insurance to estimate my total cost. They were always polite and prompt in returning phone calls. Very satisfied and I highly recommend Dr. Stone. read more

Went to Dr Stone in August of 2008 to get my Tonsils and Soft Patel, and Uvula removed because of Sleep Apnea. My comments: - The office staff is the best! They helped me through all the complex paperwork for insurance approval. They also were extremely quick to help when I needed to switch my medication. (They know this procedure's healing process is painful, and they did everything they could to ensure I had what I needed to recover) - Doctor Stone is great! He was very good at explaining the process and the consequences, and his skill with the knife is pretty darn good too. I've received compliments from other doctors and dentists about the good "work" he did on my mouth. - The surgical staff at Valley Care is great too. My only complaint was that I reached my limit for morphine post-surgery, and they wouldn't give me more till a few hours later...but there is probably a good reason for that ;) All in all, I really like Doctor Stone and will return for future E.N.T. needs. read more

I went to see Dr. Stone after having a terrible sinus infection that antibiotics weren't able to cure. After a thorough exam, he put me on one more round of very strong antibiotics to see if it would take care of the problem. After two weeks, I hadn't made any improvements. He then had me get a sinus c-scan and it was determined that my sinuses were totally blocked. Long story short, I ended up having sinus surgery. What I didn't realize is that I had suffered with sinus issues for years, including throat clearing, runny nose, headaches, etc. I had the surgery in September and am still on the road to recovery. However, I can already tell that things are much better. Dr. Stone has a great attitude, listened to and answered my 2 pages of questions before surgery, is funny and yet very professional. If you are in need of an ENT, I 100% recommend Dr. Stone. read more

I've been Dr. Stone's patient for half year and I can say for sure - he is the best ENT specialist I've ever met. I have had chronicle sinusitis and antibiotics didn't help me anymore, so he had me get a sinus c-scan and it was determined that my sinuses were partially blocked by twisted bones.I had the surgery in October and now I feel myself much better. I was not faced to any sinusitis problems even after I became too cold in desert this autumn. Moreover, after surgery I was totally recovered after 3 days and went to the work as usual! Dr. Stone's office staff were very responsive when I needed to get in to see the doctor quickly due to severe dizziness. Dr. Stone was able to pinpoint the cause and he was very encouraging that I would be over the dizziness within a fairly short time and he was right! I will see him again if I have concerns in the future. read more

My husband went to Dr. Stone after several months of constant nasal congestion. He underwent numerous courses of antibiotics for a "sinus infection" that did not exist. Took months of steroids sprays which did nothing, all while the symptoms continued to increase. Finally, got the doctor to do a CAT scan only to have this "quack" not review the images himself but read back the radiologist results directly from the report and say it was probably allergies. After 2 more months of additional symptoms we finally found a doctor at Stanford who reviewed the same CAT scan results taken at ValleyCare that Dr. Stone neglected to look at and discovered the mass that was now much larger. Yes it was cancer. My husband died after a battle he should not have had to wager. Or would have been significantly less invasive if proper steps had been taken. My husband and I met several other patients at Stanford Cancer center who had experienced similar misdiagnosis at ValleyCare. I don't recommend Dr. Stone or ValleyCare. If you value your loved ones GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! read more

I went to see "Dr." Stone in June of 2008 because of a growth on my septum. He said, "Probably nothing", and scheduled a followup for a month later. In a month it had grown significantly. He said, "It's probably a wart", and gave me a steroid mist to spray on it, and a one month follow up. I came home from that second visit and told my wife, "There is something wrong inside my head"... and I've never had a day of medical school! It grew exponentially during that month. He saw me in 4 weeks, and again he said, "it's probably nothing to worry about, just keep using the steroid spray"...!!! Within a week of that visit, I developed a blind spot in my right eye. I went to an ophthalmologist who diagnosed glaucoma and immediately took me off the steroids (because they can CAUSE glaucoma) and instructed me rather strongly to go to a different ENT... one who would take his responsibility seriously and perform a biopsy. Well, I went to a real ENT doctor, who took one look, shook his head and said, "this must be biopsied immediately!", which he did... it was CANCER!!! It was a very aggressive CANCER and he let it go 3 months, and still never made a move, except to collect the fees. The surgery was extensive, and without a doubt could have been quite minor if diagnosed that first visit. So, Dr. David Stone may well (I have to be careful what I actually charge here, but we all know what I'm saying) have CAUSED me quite a bit of harm, between allowing the CANCER to develop for an extra 3 months, and causing me to have glaucoma, which is incurable and leads to blindness. Nice, huh? This guy is the very model for the word "quack" and anyone who goes to him after reading this, deserves whatever they may get. read more

Hello, I wanted to start out by stating I had sinus surgery 15 years ago at a large hospital ( it rhymes with anford) they did not do a complete job. I'll leave it at that. Dr Stone did my sinus surgery about a month ago and it relieved all of my symptoms I had. If you have any question on a surgery in relation to your ear nose and throat I would see Dr Stone. Dr Stone is a very experienced doctor. He was recommended to me by my mother in law who has seen him for many years. He did an excellent tonsillectomy job. The surgery and recovery went well. The price for the surgery was less then an estimate from another surgeon I contacted prior. I am so glad I found Dr Stone! I feel so much better after the tonsils have been removed. Dr. Stone is fantastic! I went to him in April 2009 after having months of sinus issues. He scheduled a sinus CT scan that day, called me me the next morning and read the result to me in a way that I actually understood! Found out that I had a chronic sinus infection that had probably been lingering for at least six months, he subsribed about 22 days of antibiotics and then conduct sinus surgery to really clean everything out. My son (7 years old) was referred to Dr. Stones office from his pediatrician. I went online & read all the reviews on him. I am so happy that we ended up going with him. He was very informative & very knowledgable. Even explained to my son what he was doing during the exam. 2 weeks later he was doing my sons surgery to have his adenoids out & tubes in his ears. Nice staff, doctor is kind of friendly- but he was not helpful at all for my ear problems. I tried another ear doctor after him, which is when I realized how useless my visit with Dr. Stone really was. Bad experience due to the lack of care for the problem- he never went out of his way to see what was the problem. The second doctor I saw put cameras in my nose and ear, prescribed me medications, explained the problem, and had multiple solutions. Dr. Stone did none of this. He just looked in my ears and put a mirror in my throat and told me my ear pressure will probably naturally go away, which it didn't. The second doctor I saw gets 5 stars. I don't recommend this doctor for ear problems. There is so much more to the ear than he presented- I can say with confidence that he was not nearly as educated as my new ear doctor. He even recommended an over the counter product that was not the correct medicine to take. My new doctor is dr Adam Marvin in San Leandro/Oakland. read more
