Trust me, Dr. Vaughn is one in a million. I feel so fortunate to have gone to him for a second opinion when I was told by my former ENT doctor/surgeon last year that I would need a second surgery three months after the first one. Dr. Vaughan is professional, friendly, skilled, knowledgeable, patient (I always have lots of questions), and compassionate (apologizing for any pain I might felt, which I never did); there are not enough adjectives to describe how I feel about Dr. Vaughan, his nurse Kathleen, and his office staff. With endoscopies in his office followed by instructions for daily care of my sinuses, I was able to reverse a serious sinus condition I have had since 2013. Dr. Vaughan is the best of the best in his specialty. He focuses 100 percent on me and my condition during office visits, and his surgical techniques are extremely effective and cutting-edge. Dr. Vaughan and his staff are very attentive. They respond quickly to my requests and questions -- within minutes and certainly less than 24 hours -- when I have called the office or left messages. When I have felt ill and have scheduled appointments, I have been seen quickly. There is no such thing as waiting weeks or months for an appointment. Prescription refills are also swift. I don't know how they do it, but they do! Dr. Vaughan is my lifeline. He saved my life when becoming extremely ill. After a phone call and speaking to him regarding my symptoms and condition, he quickly put a plan in place and restored my health. I am eternally grateful for his excellent care. My lung Dr. Tene reconmended that i see Dr. Vaughan because what she found was that my problem was coming from my siuns not my lungs.. It is a strange thing that your sinuses can cause so much trouble. Sinus infections can be a real problem. Well Dr. Vaughan was the perfect doctor to take care of my problem. He is an expert at what he does, besides being a wonderful human being. First off, he did a scan on my head and found one of my sinuses was completely blocked solid. . He did a couple of surgeries to open my sinus passage way. He staff is great also. Everyone explains everything before doing anything so you are relieved of anxiety. You can watch the procedures through high tect glasses as he does robotic surgery procedures. And he is the best. So steady. I have chronic sinus problems so I must see him regularly. I am very selective when it comes to selecting my ENT as I have been a long term sinus patient. I did a lot of research and found all great reviews on several platforms I reviewed. Even then, I was skeptical initially as I suspected they will push for surgery as Dr Vaughan is a surgeon. I was proved all wrong and have found my permanent ENT caregivers I trust wholeheartedly. This practice is extremely conservative. I have been to them 3 times and they have always told me I don't need a surgery. I think what makes them stand apart is the extreme transparency. They show you what's going inside your sinuses. There is no question of doubt. They take close to an hour to just patiently sit with you, answer all your questions, show you the pictures and recommend the most conservative solution to start with. (No surgery if not needed). 'They' refer to the team of Dr Vaughan and his assistant, Kathaleen. You cannot find an assistant doctor who is as good as her. Kudos to this team! A special mention to their front office staff. They accomodated me the same day twice because of the urgency I had. If you are like me, suspicious because the reviews seem too good to be true, give them a chance. They are worth it! read more

Dr. Vaughan has been an absolute blessing in my life. Not too long ago he was able to restore health back into me during one of the sickest times of my life. I suffered from chronic sinusitis and tried different medications/treatments to no avail, until I went to Dr. Vaughan. The moment I met him I knew I was in good hands and instantly felt at ease. He has by far the best bedside manners I have experienced, immense knowledge and skill in his craft, and advanced technology to help with your diagnosis and treatment. Everything about his practice is top notch: 1. Making an appointment with him is easy and efficient. No waiting weeks to hear back, you will most likely be seen within a week. 2. Friendliest and knowledgeable staff. All the nurses I have met are kind, patient, effective listeners, and great at summarizing your condition to the doctor. 3. Advanced technology to better understand your condition. Each visit Dr. Vaughan will most likely put an endoscope up your nose and provide VR glasses so you can see what he is seeing to better inform your diagnosis. I appreciated seeing the state of my sinuses to better understand what was causing my issues -- it provided a visual to go with what he was saying. 4. In-house CT scanner. He is able to scan and provide a 3D representation of your head in less than 2 minutes. He will then review with you what he sees and if surgery is necessary he will explain why and show exactly what will be done. At the end he will provide you a copy of your CT scan so you can review it at home as well. I found this fascinating and felt at ease knowing clearly what was physically wrong with my sinuses and how he will fix it. 5. For my case, I needed surgery (keep in mind he is quite conservative in his approach and won't suggest surgery unless you absolutely need it). Since I wanted to be fixed ASAP, he was able to get me a surgery appointment the next week! He knew this was my first time ever getting surgery and he truly made me feel at ease. He texted me the night before surgery to make sure I was feeling okay, reassured me everything will go well (he has done this procedure over 5,000 times), and even day of surgery he was the absolute sweetest making sure I was at ease. He is truly the kindest soul with the utmost talent. 1. Honestly, his entire OR staff was exceptionally competent and kind. I had full trust in the nurses and anesthesiologist, whom Dr. Vaughan has worked with for 20+ years, so they basically can read his mind and make the surgery go even smoother. 2. Dr. Vaughan provides you a DVD of your entire surgery, which was absolutely fascinating! 6. Surgery went very well and I was feeling back to normal in less than a week. You will need to have a few post-op appointments to make sure you are healing properly and clean out any residual blood to speed up recovery. Words cannot express my gratitude towards Dr. Vaughan. He is a true legend with magical healing powers. I always leave his office in a better mood and look forward to my next appointment lol. Dr Vaughan and his team are the absolute best a patient could ask for. Stanford Hospital referred me to him after they did a CT scan of my sinuses. I had a "forrest of polyps." My time in the waiting room was very short, if any wait at all. Each time I went in I was greeted by cheerful, friendly staff. His nurses are caring, experienced and professional. Dr Vaughn has an awesome bedside manner!! He's extremely bright and has a great sense of humor. He explained my options thoroughly, ensuring I would have the best possible result. I completely trusted him with my surgery, and it was a HUGE success. Recovery was pretty easy because his team prepped me extremely well. They gave me detailed instructions and explained what s/s to look out for and what I should be feeling in my nose and sinuses. I met dr Vaughan when he was working at Stanford Hospital in collaboration with dr Cockerham. I suffered of Graves Disease, and due to the worsening of my condition I was risking my sight. I underwent an orbital decompression, a surgery performed by both doctors together, lasted several hours. Everything went well. Since then I call them my angels. They both are genuinely beautiful and generously good heart persons. I feel lucky to have met them. They have been in my life since then, and it's about ten years now. They both have moved a bit in the Bay Area, and I have followed them. Dr Vaughan has taken care of me since then, always been very professional, caring, friendly, always carrying all the necessary top of the line in studio equipment, and always being there for me in any emergency situation. My ENT told me there was nothing else she could do after two sinus surgeries.She refereed me to Dr. Vaughan is professional, thorough and explains each step. Dr. Vaughan cleared my sinus obstruction in January with a short outpatient surgery. At that time, I had debilitating headaches, literally difficult to get out of bed and function. I called a few weeks ago and made an appointment to come in at 4pm for a new patient consultation. A few days before my appointment, I got an email reminder to come in for my appointment at 2:15pm. I called them and informed them of the error, and they said that it's impossible that they made a mistake because they don't see new patients after 2:15pm. I guess I made the whole thing up? I told them I need to be seen as late as possible because I don't want to miss a half-day at work just to accommodate a doctor's schedule. They refused and said the latest they can take me is 2:15pm. I told them I'll find another doctor. It's disappointing that their scheduling is so inflexible. Us lowly patients have stuff to do during the day, like go to work at our jobs, which we need to make money in order to pay these doctors their exorbitant salaries so they can own multiple houses and expensive European luxury cars. I work normal business hours, 9am-5pm. Why can't my doctor work the same hours? Do they have to leave early everyday to attend their golf game at the country club? read more

I have to agree with all the great reviews on Winston Vaughan and his office. I searched long and hard after having a not-so-great experience a few years ago and I was relieved to have found this office. The staff is friendly, competent, knowledgeable and best of all, every person I interacted with, from John, the new patient intake person; to the receptionists; Kathleen, the nurse practitioner; and finally Dr Vaughn himself, were all very empathetic about my fear of the procedure. They invited me to ask as many questions as I wanted and their standard procedure is to show patients the procedure as it's occurring should they wish to watch. They even redid a part of the exam so I could have a cd of it to show to my kids. Dr Vaughn was pre-warned by his staff that I was nervous and he came in and put me completely at ease. Dr. Vaughan is the real deal. After an adenoidectomy as a child, recurrent sinus infections and a maxillary sinus antrostomy the previous year, followed by 11 (yes eleven!!) antibiotics for post op infections, dr. Vaughan took me in and treated me with urgency and empathy. We first tried homeopathy and rinses, knowing theyd not likely work, but giving it a time bound shot over the holidays. Think about this as giving that boyfriend one final shot (for a month) before you do the "hard thing". We subsequently did a low radiation CT scan and he offered to operate and remove my ethmoid sinuses and sphenoids and enlarge the area to the maxillaries (ps: those little honeycomb badboys creating your infections and aerosinusitis were a relic of when we needed to filter in sandy environments). Net result: i can rinse out infections, he will use minor (painless trauma) to coax polyps away without surgery, and even with the fires, i had the best cardiovascular and lack of sickness last year I've had in forever. I credit him with changing my life. He's humble, and goes by his first name despite accolades and an education that makes 99.9% of people look like underachievers. If your panties are bunched because he isn't available late fridays, it's because he's also a family man and doesnt live in the creek. The guy does it all, and without pomp and identifying himself as doctor magical amazing santa PhD, Dr. of Life Long Happiness, as he very well could. Staff is amazing too. I didn't have successful surgery with Dr. Vaughan. He did try his best to fight my decease, but it wasn't just successful. I still have the problem and infection in my nose and today I tried to reach out to ask - Ok, maybe we should try something else? He gave me some other doctors where I might ask help meaning that he doesn't know what to do with myself. We also had some billing issue before , but when I complained he zero balance the bill of $286.00 which I was grateful to him for. I would give 5-star if I didn't have my problem anymore and if he could still try to do something. This is the second ENT doctor who was trying to help me. The other one in San Francisco(lookup in my review history) I gave 1 star review because she also refused to help me after unsuccessful surgery. I have had sinus issues, infections etc etc for over a dozen years that (now in the past), have severe impacted my life. Thank goodness my current allergist recommended Dr. Vaughn years ago when he said "I can't do anything more for you", and sent me to Dr Vaughn. Dr. Vaughn helped me when other doctors couldn't. When I visit his office I am confident and comfortable in his analysis, diagnosis and advice. He has a camera device where he actually looks up my nose (& displays on a monitor) and see what's going on as well as get samples to correctly diagnose. (Don't worry, you are numbed 1st). I have seen Dr. Vaughan for over five years. With a history of chronic sinus issues I knew I needed an expert. Dr. Vaughan worked with me over the years and my desire to avoid surgery. Unfortunately, after months of antibiotics my problems continued. I was very reluctant to have surgery during the current health environment we are living in right now.
