Exxel was on time with their scheduling but that's about all I can say. Exxel was in and out in 15 minutes. The initial inspection involved looking at my daughters vents, then looking at the HVAC before stating that the cost of the repairs and work done might not get the results I'm hoping for. In the future, It would be helpful if they ran through a few preliminary questions or pictures of the unit to see if a trip out is worth the time. Before the technician left I asked a few more questions before he suggested a Home Energy Audit. I'm hopeful that the home energy audit could put me on a better path to resolving the cooling issues in my home. My HVAC system was ~17yrs old and working, but not efficiently. I decided to replace our system and asked for quotes from five companies. I picked Exxel to replace our system based on these: 1. Very detailed quotes, model number, seer, eer, afue, capacity, etc. everything that I needed to research and compare. 2. Detail explanation of the warranty period. 3. Explanation of what would happen on the day of installation, again very detailed, so no surprises. 4. I asked for multiple quotes based on two stage and variable stage units and seers. Bob wasn't annoyed that I asked for multiple quotes so I can research and compare. He provided multiple quotes in less than 24hrs. Other companies seem annoyed that I asked for multiple quotes and didn't really provide what I asked for. I felt that he understood as consumers, we all do research before purchasing high price items and he was not annoyed with that fact. 5. I had additional questions (probably some stupid ones that hvac professionals get all the time) and Bob patiently answered my questions. At the day of the installation, they arrived within their estimated time. Bob and Greg were very professional. They called in the morning and gave me the arrival time. Since we don't wear shoes in our house, I had covered our floor with tarps, too my surprise they put their tarps on top of my tarps. It was totally fine with me considering they observed that we don't wear shoes and respected that and tried to keep our floors clean. The install took about eight hours and I was glad that there was no pressure to sell me other stuff. They cleaned up the area before leaving. I highly recommend Exxel and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.....when it's time to replace our upstairs heat pump. read more

I have owned my 1985-built home in Monrovia, MD, for six years. The only person to ever service my diesel-powered furnace and indirect water heater is Bob of EXXEL Mechanical Services. Bob responds quickly and guarantees his work. My old unit is a bit finicky, but if something needs additional attention, Bob has returned for a follow-up visit and fixed the issue with no additional charge. If you are lucky enough to find a service shop you can trust, doing a good job for a reasonable price, you better keep that number in your phone book. I (admittedly turned all the switches the wrong way on my panel) turned the power off to my furnace, and sent out a Yelp request. Bob came out 50 minutes later (on a Sunday!) and was able to turn the power back on. He noticed that the furnace was cycling rapidly and cleaned my flame sensor. Showed up on time. Checked out our heat pump system. Found a bad AC capacitor in the condenser package. This might have caused the power outage earlier after moving in as the main breaker opened.
