I came here last year to find my prom dress for my junior prom, and was able to find it here. I went to this store because it was the closet Macy's department store to me, and Modesto has really great shopping areas. After looking through their small section of prom dresses, and finding something that had a bigger size other than a 6, I was able to find one but had a tear on the bottom of it. They had a discount and sale going on, so the dress ended up being about 80% off the original tag price. The staff wasn't too friendly, and the person in charge of the fitting rooms wasn't there, so we had to wait 10 minutes for someone to show up. Staff, 4/10, staff was not helpful, friendly, or seemed to be happy to be there in general. Cost effective, 5/10, if you go there for the first time without any discounts, coupons, or their credit czars it will be expensive. Location, 7/10 read more

After a not so happy shopping experience at another bridal shop and prior to making a last minute appointment at David's Bridal. I was feeling a little uneasy about the hunt for the right dress. It's pretty difficult to find the right dress if you don't even know what you're looking for. First impression is that all the woman working here are very polite. There's a great selection and the dresses are priced well. I had the honor of being fitted by Stirling. She was so patient and so kind. She made my fitting very easy and comfortable. The women who was doing alterations was absolutely amazing! She talked me through different looks and pinned up different areas. It looked incredible! I even mentioned she reminded me of a Fairy Godmother! She was incredible! However, the reason why I gave it 2 stars is the amount the alterations cost. I bought the dress for $450. The alterations came out to $724 after tax. Had I known alterations would have cost that much I would have seeked out to a mom and pop shop or not received any alterations at all. I feel like for what I paid between my dress and alterations I could have bought a better dress. I'm pretty disappointed with my final decision after having to pay that much for alterations. I don't think the small changes they're alternating should cost that much, especially because they aren't changing much. I was expecting at most to pay half of what I paid for my dress but $724?!? Seems a bit price gouging. In reality I could have spent $1200 on a dress that fit perfect instead of a clearance rack $450 dress. Especially with there no return policy. Now I'm going to look at my dress with anger due to the price gouge. Davids bridal definitely ruined my dress perspective. Also one of the charges included extra string or something to do with being plus size because she added an additional cost after measuring me then proceeded to explain but I was still frustrated by the price I didn't even hear her continue to explain it. In wedding groups on Facebook they've been protesting Davids Bridal due to their partnership with weight watchers; and after this experience I wish I hadn't bought with Davids bridal at all. I chose to shop at David's bridal for my wedding dress for many reasons. 1) I have shopped here before in the past and got my bridesmaid dress for a wedding I was in and pleased with the styles they offered. 2) Multiple people I know got their wedding dresses there and they looked amazing! 3) The prices are reasonable and they offer discounts ;) My past experience was always good but this time around it was my turn to look for THE DRESS for my special day so I am already going in anxious and nervous. It could have really turned out good or bad but it was the best experience I can ever ask for many reasons. Christa was my sales consultant. Upon meeting she greeted me with a kind but firm "ready to help" attitude and it made me feel she was ready to tackle this duty lol she told me how the dresses broke down by style in the store and to look through them and pick out my top 4. There was quite a bit to chose from but not too much that it would become overwhelming. She set me up with a fitting room and was there to help me out with getting in the dresses. First dress I tried on I loved it but I was curious about the other dresses so I couldn't quite focus on the dress in its entirety. Christa at that point asked me to rate the dress out if 1-10. I rated it a 7 at first and she asked why. I told her my curiosity for the other dress and a few things we missing. She grabbed some accessories and boom. I couldn't believe but I was almost in tears.. and at that moment knew this could really be the one! I preceded to try on the other dresses just to make sure. And after I did and put the first one back on I knew it was the one! Christa was very helpful and attentive. Not only that, she was very knowledgeable in how the styles work well and with what accessories but also for the persons needs. I would highly recommend David's bridal for all the reasons I listed above and also because I found out men's warehouse has the same color swatches and can color match! I wanted a dress; but not a wedding dress. The store ordered it. It took 2 weeks (14) days to finally arrive. Before it arrived I called to cancel order. They said I couldn't cancel because the dress was already in transit. I went into the store 1 day after I was notified of its arrival in the store. I told them I didn't want it. They told me they could only give me store credit. I've never even touched the dress! They said they could not refund my card because it's more than 7 days from the date I ordered it. Um... I didn't have it to return it!! I spoke with 2 people in store and still no refund. I talked to 3 people on the phone and they all had the same message, "Sorry. That's our policy." Finally, the 3rd person said she had to submit the "special request" for review. Almost a week later they finally agreed to refund the sale. It wasn't on sale, I never touched it, AND I never took possession of it. Not reasonable. read more

Worst place ever. First I made an appointment to try on wedding dresses there they were OVER 30 minutes late to my appointment and another stylist came up to me because I was sitting in the wrong spot and told me I need to move so I told her I wasn't moving until they got me someone to help and that's when they got someone to help me which I understand if you're busy but letting me know you're busy is always a good thing. During that appointment she picked out dresses that I didn't even like that weren't even what I was talking about and then like rushed me through it because she was needing to go to her next appointment. So for that appointment I decided to just say screw it and I went somewhere else to buy my wedding dress I ended up coming again to get bridesmaids dresses picked out the perfect bridesmaids dress and the lady told me that she was going to put it on file so that my bridesmaids can come whenever they want and pick out the right size. Well thank God that I decided to go in with my bridesmaid because they had no clue what dress it was no clue what color didn't even have my name on file So we fix that and then go in again and get all the dresses it went perfectly fine customer service could be better because they're just a bunch of rude people. I had called the week before to ask if I need an appointment and they told me no and then when I came in they were like well you need an appointment I'm like no you're gonna take me appointment or not because I called specifically asked if I needed one when being charged for the dresses they didn't tell us a date that they would get in mind you my wedding is April 28 of this year. So I just found out that two to the dresses aren't even going to come in untill April 9th. Like that's a joke right?? After telling me as long as I got it before the end of January that everything would get in before The middle of March. ...... I WILL NEVER GO TO DAVIDS BRIDAL AGAIN. and if my dresses are any later then April9th even the 10th I will be calling corporate. Honestly might do to anyways. read more

Erika was an awesome assistant not only was she cheerful she was funny and very helpful. She helped my sister find her perfect wedding dress even though it wasn't on her price range. She didn't give us attitude like the previous assistant we had when we went on October 23rd with my mom, dad and sisters. Can't remember that assistants name but she was not even helpful we had to keep on asking her for things and she kept on rolling her eyes. I was continuously put on hold until the hold ended. I told them my name multiple times to the same receptionists and was thrown into a loop. I am fashion illiterate. I was completely overwhelmed and clueless about how to dress shop. I hide in my sweaters. Mistie was so professional and patient with me. She educated me on what types of styles will accent my body type. She helped me find dresses that fit my personality and would check to make sure I was comfortable as we went, but by the time my appointment was finished, I felt confident enough to leap out of my comfort zone. I'm super casual, so I couldn't even imagine myself in embellishments or even a veil, but I'm happy to say I went full bride today. Looking back, it's funny. This was only my second place shopping for my wedding dress so I honestly didn't believe I'd find the ONE. I had a rough few days and I was trying to be excited about shopping but I felt so blah. Once we walked in the place was so lit up and the dresses were so pretty and I started feeling a little better. I spotted this really pretty dress and shortly after Brooke came over and she had this really bright presence about her! It didn't take long for my spirits to be lifted. This is the first store I've gone to look for my wedding dress, and my experience was horrible, when it's supposed to be a joyous outing. My mother and I walked in on a Friday afternoon and we were the ONLY customers there looking for a wedding dress. The store was dead. The girl at the front desk wasn't friendly. She asked me for my wedding date which I guess was too far out for her to give us any real service. I could hear her on the phone making follow-up calls for people to come pick up their stuff. Their selection of dresses are not my style. There was 1 dress I saw on a poster there and I asked the girl to show me that dress. She was like, hold on. She had us waiting so she could keep making her calls, meanwhile I saw a whole bunch of idle female workers standing around giggling I had to go get her and remind her we were still there. She had us sit in the area where you try on the dresses and she says to us, I'm waiting for my stylist girl to clock in. And she went back to her desk making her calls. Like really? It's not my fault your stylist is late. You can't get me the dress in the meantime??? We were sitting about 10 min and I finally told my mom, what she can't give us the dress? There's no other customers here but us!! I think she heard me bc she quickly came over and got me the dress. She said she would go get clips to clip me. I tried it on, and she was no where in site with the clips. Dress was a hard no for me. I changed back into my normal clothes and I saw her again at the desk. I told her the dress was a no. And we walked out. She didn't even ask me what type of dress I was looking for. She didn't make any suggestions for other dresses I should try on. Customer service was horrible, the experience was horrible. I know I'll find better luck at small boutiques. Avoid this place! read more

David's Bridal is a lazy organization that just doesn't care about the consumer. I regret ever doing business here. I ended up finding a dress, but the sales associate didn't do a great job at hiding the fact she doesn't like her job. I felt like a nuisance to her--last thing you want to feel when wedding dress shopping. If I could do it all over again, I would've gone elsewhere. Not to mention that TWICE I have bought something only to be told it was "out of stock" a week or two later. How does that happen?? They need to update their system... BUT, the last time I was in to pick up a bridesmaid's dress, Kaitlyn was an absolute superstar. She was kind, helpful, and enthusiastic, and I really appreciated her service in particular. Oh, and don't get a credit card through David's Bridal if you can afford it. They do not allow you to choose the due date of your payments and are absolutely inflexible to change it. I already have other bills that cannot be moved on the first of the month, and now I need to pay this bill with that same check because David's Bridal and Comenity Bank REFUSE to change the due date by two days. This takes away from my grocery budget. I know this is way too personal but I am beyond pissed at the total and utter lack of customer service. read more

I went there earlier this week and the girls working there are so unprofessional! I did like a couple of dresses, but when I told the girl working there that I needed to schedule another appointment so that my sister who lives out of town can come see it, she was eager to know when I was coming back. I called my sister right then and there, and she said she could make it on Sunday. The girl response was "but I don't work that day. Can you come another day? Maybe during the week". I told her no! My sister is OUT OF TOWN and can't come during the week. She was rude after that. I ended up calling to reschedule for Saturday. Everything was fine. I got a confirmation call. Well 5 minutes later, the lady helping me the first time, calls me to confirm my appointment on Sunday. I said "no. I rescheduled for Saturday". Again, her response was "I am not in that day. Are you sure you can't come Sunday?". I asked her if she was asking that because maybe there was no availability on Saturday or something. She said "no, someone will be here, but it won't be me so I won't get my COMMISSION!". She kept begging me to change the appointment! I cancelled my appointment altogether! I don't even know where to begin. I booked my fitting with me and my three girls for 7:30. We did get there earlier and they did start helping us. I was looking for two dresses, one for the wedding and one for the reception. So I started trying on dresses, and the moment that I told the lady I did not see one tonight that would make me want to buy, she showed disinterest. Then she took on another bride not even after 30 minutes of our appointment time. And she had not started with my girls yet in there dresses. So then she did agree to get them some dresses after I was done. But she didn't even measure them for the right sizes, not have sizes in stock for them to try on. One of my girls thicker around the waist she definitely made her feel out of place by bringing her multiple dresses on different accounts that didn't even fit her. Way to go to make a special needs girl feel fat. Thank you so much for that. Then she even stopped helping us, didn't do what she said she was going to do, and I got my girls dressed and left. First off it took 5 months after my daughter got fitted for the bridesmaid dress my niece picked out for her wedding. I had called several times to check to see if it was in, and every time I was told NO. Well the last time I called they couldn't even find my phone number in there system(because they took down a number I never told them) so then I update the phone number. Then the gal tells me the dress is there and has been there a month, and instead of them calling the bride they call someone else in the wedding party (Why not the bride) I told them I wouldn't be able to pick the dress up right away, because I don't live in the area. So then I get a call from someone at the store telling me I need to pick the dress up right away. I asked if they could just mail it, the gal says yes and someone will be in contact with me to give me tracking information. So 4 days go by and I'm going to be in the area so I call to tell them not to ship the dress I'll just pick it up. Then I'm told the dress was delivered on the 12th but not to me. Mind you the person I was talking to on the phone could not get my address right and knowone ever called my to confirm the address or give me tracking information. So now it's WHERE IS THE DRESS!!!! I was told all information should be sent to me so I can got to UPS and file a claim. I will NEVER go back to that store again.. read more
