I recently got engaged and was looking for a dress, went to a bridal boutique and I didn't realize you must have an appointment also the first question was how much are you looking to spend? That turned me off....the lady said you would do better to go to David's Bridal so my mom and I went here! So happy I did not only did they have beautiful dresses but they didn't ask me a budget instead said that they would work with me! They went above and beyond, as I looked at all those beautiful dresses I started to feel different, then I turned around and saw it..........my dress! It was more than I was thinking of spending but once I tried it on OMG! It fit like it was made for me, it made me feel like a dream come true, everyone cried even the sales girl. I knew I had to have it for my special day she made sure that I could! Thank you to all the people at this shop for helping to make my wedding dream come true! I'm going to update my review based upon a recent return experience I had. My previous review was for their old location off Military Highway area. It's now located in Town Center in a fancy and pretty new building close to tons of shopping and eating and central to everything in Virginia beach (like also across from Pembroke Mall). I ordered a potential wedding dress off their website and received it in only two days! You have 7 days to request a return authorization (you have to have this to bring it in) and then bring it to a store or ship it back. I chose to bring it in so it would process more quickly and I wouldn't have to worry about tracking it through USPS. When I brought it in I was quickly helped by a store associate who was finished with my return in about 1 minute. The only issue is that they don't print or give you anything to prove that you actually brought in the dress - I was just told I'd get an email later and it would credit my account "within two credit card cycles". Excuse me? That's two months (60 days) plus I have no proof I left a $775 dress here with my return! I logged online, it didn't show, I waited about 10 minutes for the email, it never came. Eventually she printed me a copy of the packing sheet she would have to use in the box for the dress to prove I left it. I did get the email the following business day, about 23 hours after I had dropped it off saying it was being processed. It took about 5 days for the credit to hit my account, so I'm not mad and I know it's standard business speak but two months is a long grace period to refund someone their money back! All in all, it was an easy return and the gal inside helping me was super friendly and nice about the whole thing while I waited for the email and she did what she could so I had some proof to walk out with that I had in fact returned the dress. The inside of the store was very clean and well organized and stocked with loads of beautiful bridal and prom goodies. This is an excellent place to come looking or for ideas - but I still say you need to make an appointment if you want to get anything done - based upon some of the other newer reviews it hasn't changed since my last visits here. read more

NEGATIVE STAR!!! What should have been one of the happiest milestones of the bride's life turned into a nightmare at this store. On July 19th, during her "Say Yes to the Dress" appointment, she found her dream gown (style 9SWG1008), joyfully said yes, and celebrated with her bridal party. She left with her receipt, reservation order, pictures, and videos--clear proof of the dress she purchased. When she returned in August to pick it up, she was told that gown was not her dress. Staff tried to insist she had chosen another dress, even denying that the original consultant from her appointment worked there. The bride even typed in the style number on David's Bridal's own website, pulled up the exact gown, and presented it to the associate--yet she was told that information was invalid. Despite multiple forms of documentation and evidence, she was dismissed, accused of being disruptive, and told she would be charged a cancellation fee. The manager offered no help, no compassion, and no accountability. The lack of professionalism and basic customer care was shocking. Instead of being supported, the bride was blamed and left heartbroken. We would never recommend this location to anyone--no bride should ever be treated this way on such a once-in-a-lifetime occasion. read more

I originally booked an Alterations appointment months ago and on the day of my appointment I got to the store well over an hour before my appointment. I checked in and even spoke to one of the reps which she told me she would come get me once they were ready for me. Even when the time came for my appointment, I was still in the store and not acknowledged for my set appointment. It was not until one of my friends had asked one of the reps to check on the status of being seen with a seamstress that anyone made any attempts to check on the following scheduled appts. Even after I sat and waited an additional 20mins after my appointment that there was no one there to see me for my appt. No apologies were given by any of the associates and they were very unprofessional. read more

Jessica and Michael were amazing. However, the price quoted for alterations was not what I was budgeting for so we declined and asked for the dress. Felicia (I apologize if I spelled incorrectly) came in to wrap up everything and we let her know our decision. I think it is safe to say she was not happy with my decision because she was told to just bag up the dress as is but she stopped to take out pins and put heat to remove the alteration mark. All of that is still fine...petty...but fine. What I do not appreciate is once my dress was bagged, she was walking to the front with my dress I walked to her with my arms extended she walked right past ME AND HUNG IT UP. I'm a diamonds loyalty Bride that came in and was treated poorly. I was not treated with equal basic respect or care as other brides despite all the money and time my bridal party is spending here! A male stylist disrespectfully talked about us right in front of our face! Not wanting us to sit in empty seats after standing for a while. Moving our seats practically out of the dressing room, far away from my flower girl's dressing room, into a corner near the entrance saying "I don't want them in my brides view". The whole discussion was said right in front of us in an undermining way! He didn't even want us to be seen in the same mirror as the bride he was working with. As if seeing us in the mirror behind her facing a different direction was going to sway her decision on whether or not to buy her dress!! It's an open dressing room, many people are in there at one time. All brides just have to deal with it! I understand prioritizing your client but it is unfair to treat brides as if they are not as important than eachother. I am a PAYING COSTUMER as well! My entire bridal party is purchasing dresses and shoes from here along with my flower girls. I was for myself but will not be now!! The respect, class, and equality is missing here!! The first stop of our Daddy Daughter prom dress shopping tour because I knew they would have inventory. Trouble is, it may come at a premium price. After we parked, our entry was met with a greeting and low pressure approach, dare I say too low, almost bordering on disinterest in serving us. We found the special event and bridesmaid sections, along with 50% off racks and sale racks but she didn't see anything that fit or interested her. Right about that time, Rosalind appeared. She was the friendly, helpful, encouraging, and suggestive employee that aided my daughter's jump start. After trying on a few obvious no's for sizing, she brought a style to try that my daughter came in opposed to getting: floral. 30 minutes of trying things on with hands on help from Rosalind and my younger daughter, the search was narrowed down to 2 (floral) favorites: $200 and $250. I txt'd my wife about price who confirmed: 1. they were pretty 2. they were expensive. Despite Rosalind's excellent service, we felt it would be wise to hold the dresses for 24 hours so we could check a few more places. Spoiler: we found and bought an equally pretty dress at Macy's for $50! TIP: if you have them, bring your shoes dress shopping with you so you can gauge overall height, function and feel. read more

The young lady in the front was extremely friendly I told her I was looking for a black dress she escorted me to the dresses and stated " I will have someone to come and assist you with sizes". I walked around the store for 20 min no showed up nor did any other available personnel greeted or asked if I required any assistance. I came here with my daughter to look for bridesmaids dresses. She had made an appointment online and it blocked 1.5 hours. We came in an immediately Kayla came to introduce herself. She took down all the information of the bridesmaid dress, date of wedding, length, color, etc. She then brought us some dresses and from there my daughter tried them on, one by one. Kayla was helpful clipping the dresses, and getting the appropriate sizes. We ended up not purchasing a dress from here only because the one we wanted would not have been back in time. She did try on several but for one reason or another it didn't work out. Even though we left without a dress, I would seriously recommend going here to choose a dress whether it be a bridesmaid dress or a wedding dress. Their wedding dresses are gorgeous! It is a good place to find a dress for an special event since they have a lot I found an elegant dress, but it was the only one I liked. In general terms I found the style is a little bit old, nowadays there are plenty of fresh new styles in other boutiques. They were nice when booking appointments and with final arrengements. However it is true that you really need to book an appointment to get any service, which I did not found very convenient. I wish they can assist the first time you go shopping with all the hype to feel an amazing princess experience. Personally, it was not convinient for me to book an appointment because only availability was during week and I am working full time. I wished they could help me that first visit on saturday. I had three weddings over the course of nine months which warranted their own visits to David's Bridal, each pertaining to bridesmaid dresses. I bought two dresses and had them both altered here. Wedding 1 (pre-pandemic): Made an appointment online to try on dresses a couple days later. I had full reign of choosing a style, as long as the color was a certain shade. Unfortunately, the dress style I loved most was apparently unable to be ordered and delivered on time. This was understandable since my bride gave us only a couple of months notice with the color scheme. I left without a dress. Wedding 2: The bride had already selected a specific dress that we'd all wear, so I simply walked in without an appointment (pre-pandemic) and provided her information to locate the details. I tried on the dress in a couple sizes and ordered the best fit with advice from the associate. It arrived months earlier than anticipated, picked it up and held onto it until I went in for alterations 8ish weeks before the wedding. Then the pandemic happened. The store called to ask if I wanted the altered dress shipped to my house free of charge - I was super grateful for this so I didn't have to physically go in to the store as I was self-isolated at the time. Final product fit great. Wedding 3: The bride had a specific color from David's Bridal in the system, so I did another walk-in (pre-pandemic) to try on dresses. This time I had a certain style in mind that I had found online, so the associate helped me locate the dress in my size. I tried on a couple others but chose the original. Ordered the dress, and again it arrived early. Picked it up at the end of February and held onto it until alterations in mid-May. Masks and appointments were required. Picked up/tried on the finished dress a month later with the same procedures. I had a problem with the top of my dress which alterations didn't seem to have fixed, so the associate took it to the back herself to make sure it was corrected. Fit perfectly. My dresses ranged from $150-200 and alterations were over $100 each. All of the staff I worked with were very friendly, the store was clean, and they always had plenty of options. This was my second appointment at a David's Bridal store. The first was Illinois while visiting my mom so she was with me trying on my first dress. I fell in love with a dress I couldn't afford since my consultant there showed me only dresses above my budget. She said she was just trying to find the shape that was right for me. So I decided to go for a second appointment back here at home with my Matron of Honor. What a totally different experience! Sakina was my consultant and she was fantastic. She lets us browse around and pick dresses we wanted to try. She also let us dig through the clearance rack to be sure I'll stay in my budget. This is where I found my dress. She made sure everything was perfect. The Assistant manager Lin came by to help here and there and to tell me I looked amazing. She had such enthusiasm and excitement. She ran to grab us a colored ribbon for accent we requested. They were all great and I had not planned on buying a dress today but in the end I said Yes! Thank you Sakina and Lin! Every appointment I have had there is always an issue. The initial dress I purchased I was told I could have something removed during my alterations appointment, WRONG. Get to my alterations appointment and am told they could not do it and aren't sure why I was told that information. I wouldn't have purchased the dress to begin with if I had known prior to that. Trying not to complain because hey, I'm getting married and excited! I keep the dress but needed the dress hemmed and some sloppy stitch work on the dress fixed. Upon pick up I question why certain parts of the dress still look sloppy and we're not fixed like discussed at my previous appointment, I am told they would check with someone in the back. When she comes back with the dress I am told "that is how it is supposed to be". Not only did I pay hundreds of dollars for a dress, but also also hundreds for alterations.. just to be unsatisfied. At this point it is now was past the point where I can even refund and return the dress. First time being to David's Bridal.. this location is pretty nice. Upon arriving they were very busy! I had an appointment for noon on a Sunday and did not get helped until around 12:30. They set aside 90 minutes with a bridal consultant to help you find the perfect dress... the woman that helped me was great besides the fact she was working with about 4 other people and barely had time for me. In total I got about an hour of time and about 4 or 5 dresses tried. Luckily I found the perfect dress and will be returning for alterations and bridesmaids. I came here with two of my bridesmaids to look for their dresses for my wedding. Given that it was a Saturday, the store was incredibly busy. But I feel like it was probably overbooked. The store was so crowded, and our stylist was working with several groups at the time. I'm not sure how they deal with bridal appointments, but I felt like it would have made the experience feel less special had I been shopping for my wedding dress. Our stylist, Heather, was great and so knowledgeable, but was very busy with other groups as well. It felt like we spent more time without her than with her. She did have a trainee with her, Winsome, who was very friendly and was with us through most of our appointment. Ultimately, I was happy with the end result because my bridesmaids did find dresses for my big day. So in the end, it was a successful trip. I came in on 02/23 and worked with Ashton to find a formal dress for an upcoming military ball. Although i found the perfect dress ($185) for my event, i honestly left my appointment feeling pretty mortified by how i was spoken to by Ashton. I began my introduction by saying that i am 6 months postpartum so i would like a dress that fits my new shape in a flattering way, how i preferred darker colors to match my fair tone and that i wanted a dress with sleeves. Right off the bat Ashton made a comment about how "sleeves on a dress look old" and how she was "surprised that i actually found my size on the rack". I was a little taken back that she said those things because neither were customer friendly comments but i brushed it off assuming she was having trouble finding exactly what i needed off the rack. I also was choosing to give grace because i had to leave with a dress that day because my event was so close! it wasn't until we made it to the dressing room that i ultimately became mortified at her choice of words. i tried on a dress she chose for me that wasn't anything that i preferred but told her i would give it a shot. Once i had the dress on, Ashton told me "it's okay that you have a pooch, i have one too". I was in utter shock at how degrading the comment was and immediately wanted to take the dress off and leave the store. I purposely mentioned that i was postpartum in hopes that i would be uplifted and guided to find what flattered me most in such a vulnerable position, but instead i was publicly body shamed. I'm still in shock that this happened to me, especially by a woman who works in retail at a bridal store. if you get stuck with Ashton, decline. she is not a girls girl and you don't want your experience ruined by a stranger. read more

My experience with David's Bridal was amazing! I enjoyed every moment. I chose my dress with the help of Jamie and she was wonderful. Very attentive of my wants of details and fit. Gave me a lot of advice on the fabric choices that would fit the weather of my wedding date along with activities. (I'll be getting married in the warm summer and will be dancing all night.) I felt a little guilty because I fell in love with the first dress I tried on. I want to say she helped me get into 4 others and let me tell you those things are not easy to put on alone lol. I have been to this location a few times, every time I come my experience gets worse and worse. This time I was there planning to purchase a bridesmaid dress. I had an appointment and still waited 20 minutes until my rep came to help me. Once she pulled two dresses off the rack she put me in a dressing room said she would be back with two more dressed and never returned. Neither of the dresses fit me to where I could even see what it would look like on me. Waited in the fitting room for about 15 minutes until I got fully dressed and went to look for her. A different rep came and handed me an iPad and said "Someone told me to give you this" What is the point of setting an appointment and taking time out of your day if they ignore you anyway. I initially started my search with dreams of going to Kleinfield in NY and decided to try the local boutiques in Richmond and Virginia Beach. The dresses were either WAY over priced or the selection was just too small, and frankly they were really snooty. I have been to David's bridal twice, both times on a Saturday, and it has been the most pleasant experience!!!! The girls are so sweet and so quick to help! You should call ahead and make an appointment (just like you would at any other bridal salon) and allow money for undergarments and alterations in your budget! You are not just buying a dress, you are buying the whole look! My dress has multiple layers and I had a waterfall bustle made. Total it was close to $450 because of all the layers, beading, and pockets. Shopping around and comparing prices David's bridal is not only the most reliable and talented, but also the most affordable! I had two differ seamstresses listening to my desires and making sure my dress was perfect! They made me feel like a princess and that is how every bride should feel!!! read more

I made an appointment online and me and my maid of honor went in on Friday to try on dresses. We worked with Payton and she was absolutely amazing. Picking a wedding dress is not an easy decision and she was so patient with me. This location is in the process of moving and even though they didn't have a lot of option in my size, Payton picked out some really great options and helped me find a great dress at an amazing price. We had a little harder time finding my MOH her dress and Payton worked with us and gave us some great recommendations. We came back the next day ready to purchase and even before we cashed out she made sure we were comfortable with everything and all our needs were met. This place is atrocious. The sales staff is nice but the manager is completely rude and inattentive if you have any issues with your purchase. She will hide in the back and try to force her sales staff to do her job. We ordered several bridesmaid dresses here and each other them came in damaged and it was an absolute hassle to get them exchanged and we were also worried that we wouldn't receive them in time for the wedding, or if we did, they would also be damaged. I asked for the district manager to call or email me, and she also refused to do so. The entire store is filthy and dingy; the carpets haven't been cleaned in what looks like years and my three year old got stuck with a pin that was just strewn about. Save your money for a crap product and service and go to any of the local boutiques and get much better service in a clean store. read more

Very poor customer service by Terra. I ordered a bridesmaid gown on 3/19/2022 and was told it would be in around 7/22/2022. I called several times (around 4-5 times) and I was placed on hold and then told that the dress was not in and it was due in by the 7/22. Well on the 23rd I called and was told that the gown had not shipped and they would call to find out about the ship date. My mother and I spoke with Terra on 7/23 who was extremely rude....she would not listen, would not let us speak with a supervisor and refused to give her name...she actually hung up the phone when I tried to confirm her name so that I could speak with her supervisor regarding her lack of customer service. If anyone should be upset I would think it would be me....I'm stressing for a wedding that I'm a part of in less than 30 days with no gown.......Customer service by Terra was despicable....... read more

Do not waste your time!!! I was unable to shop for my wedding dress until now due to having 2 surgeries that prevented me from even walking for a few months and I was kind of hoping I'd be able to shed a few pounds before trying on dresses. So I spent my sick time endlessly searching for my dream dress online and found a few that had potential on the website. I gave my size and printed others I had seen on other sites hoping for the best. I showed up for my appointment on time and was told to browse the gowns while the lady pulled my picks and I waited for my friend to arrive. I was left wandering for 15-20 minutes, and when my friend arrived she just started pulling a few dresses she thought might look good on me. All of a sudden one of the employees snapped at me to ask if I had an appointment, I said I did. The woman then asked where my stylist was so I told her I was told to look at dresses while she got my online favorites prepared. The woman became even more upset and nastily told my friend and I that we were not to pull dresses, that was their job. Well, ok then, but no one was helping me for quite some time and a little tone change would have kept me in a better mood. Finally my sales person came back and told me they had NONE of my online picks for me to try on because they couldn't have them ready with the extra length (I'm 6') in the allotted 3 months. So what was the point of me even bothering? They made a big hassle out of me trying on dresses and honestly made me want to just walk out. But I stuck it out thinking they would find something magical I may not have thought of before. So yeah, I tried on a couple of dresses my friend liked but NONE of them were what I wanted. I was so defeated until they finally pulled something that was at least the tulle I wanted, but it was strapless. I still tried it on and was being talked into it by the sale person and my friend despite not feeling quite right in it. Then they had me stand around sweating (due to the horrible HVAC in the building they didn't seem to care about fixing) in a dress I was only marginally happy with so the seamstress could tell them how she could alter it to fit my body. Finally the sales person tells me to go ahead and take the dress off and the seamstress would be with me in a few minutes when she finished with another woman. I changed, walked around more looking at dresses for my friend and finally the sales person said it would just be a minute if I wanted to change back. I did only to come out to the seamstress and an entire wedding party getting their fittings done!!! I was over it at this point. The dress was more than I wanted to spend and only had ONE of the features I wanted. I changed again and left. I am no diva that needs absolute perfection but I honestly went home and cried over this experience. The worst part was that I had the most incredible appointment at Milk & Honey in VA Beach the day before and only walked away without a dress because I already had the appointment at David's and don't make big purchases on a whim. horrible customer service and the management clearly does not do any good at helping when you need them. My wedding was called off and when I went to return the dress they were absolutely no help at all and also shipped a dress to someone who did not pay for their dress as well when I had specifically spoke to someone and told them that the bridesmaid dress HAD to be canceled because the wedding was off! Yesterday I came in to choose the perfect dress, thankfully Payton, my stylist was amazing!! She made me feel welcomed and made sure that every dress chosen had the potential to wow a crowd! I'm happy to say I picked a dress that day. read more

My first time coming here it was a great experience the staff were so nice and the lady helping with the dress was amazing but when I went to pick up my dress I don't what changed the lady at front desk was not too friendly to me to find out why I was there and then when I tried on my dress it was not my dress and another lady came over and I explained to her it was not my dress and basically told me I was lying and went to the sales floor to go find my dress to prove me wrong and came back with a completely different dress so I showed her pictures of me wearing the right dress because I had tried my dress of three times before this and she goes oh I guess you're right and leaves for 30mins till I went to go find her to see where she went and where my dress was and they found out that they order the wrong dress style. So I had to come back another day to pick it up and ones again the lady's were not as friendly as the first day and ones they brought my dress know one asked it I needed any help or anything and when went to leave it was raining so we asked we could have a rain protector and they went to look out the window to make sure it was raining I guess and was like yeah I guess can have one. So I don't know what I had changed from the first time I could understand if it was really busy the too other times I was there but that was not the case the first time was really busy but the the other two times I was the only person there read more
