I am a big fan of Bespoke and was very glad I decided to have Miguel's Formal Wear create my order. I absolutely loved my experience at Miguel's Formal Wear! I was very happy with the atmosphere of a club room-designed shop. Micheal's service and attention to detail were of the highest caliber. The whole point of ordering custom clothes is to feel that this is an important process of "old-school" heritage, with the twist of new technology, in both the ordering process and the fabrics to choose from. I was very happy with my order and also liked the fact that we created a design with the suggestions that helped mold details into my jacket into the final design. It's refreshing to know that there is a place that you can trust and believe put a lot of passion into the efforts of customer service to such a high level. Better than outstanding service! Michael went above and beyond to fit my husband last minute for a funeral. I am disappointed with this establishment to say the least. My son was in a wedding in Virginia Beach. We live out-of-state, so we had to send in the measurements. They INSISTED that the tuxes be mailed since we would not be there until Thursday and the wedding was Saturday. We never got the tux, which was just as well since the tuxes that did arrive were terribly wrinkled. We were told that they did not do steaming, and we needed to hang them up. That did not work, so we spent two hours steaming them out in the hotel. When we picked my son's tux up, he told us that he would mail us a refund for the shipping that never occurred. The tux did not fit properly. We were then informed that there was a $65 fitting fee, and he would "absorb" that cost and not give us the shipping refund. We paid $250 for that tux and he's charging a fee for it not fitting?!?! My son used those same measurements for a wedding two weeks earlier and that tux for fine. I realize every tux fit differently. That's the business he is in!! He spent more time telling me how great he is and how he has the best business in the area. I beg to differ. read more

***Update To Prior Review* A manager from Miguel's called me on my work phone harassing me about this review. I am in awe! This company was never given ANY of my contact info nor my name, so at this point is my belief that they must have used my LinkedIn info to contact me at work. It is very sad that this business stoops as low as harassing people regarding bad reviews. If they provided the service that they should there would be no need to write review like this.*** As a member of the wedding industry and a customer of this "business," I am beyond disgusted with Miguel's. My husband was in a wedding this past weekend and each any every man in the wedding party had an issue with their tux. My husband's rental was missing the suspenders that were supposed to come with the rental. Another groomsman didn't have any suspenders at all. The best man's button broke off of his jacket, and the jacket was extremely oversized despite having been fitted by Miguel himself. I personally had to sew the button before the ceremony. My brother in law (also in the wedding party) had one sleeve that was extremely short and cuff of his dress shirt was hanging out. The overall fit of the tux was off for all the guys including pants legs being too short, items being too tight, or too loose. These are just SOME of the issues. I went to Miguel's to complain about the issue. He said that my husband didn't have suspenders but since it was a "complimentary" service that he offered it was excusable. He went on the say that nobody else complains about his business and made tired excuses for all of the issues. He offered no real solution for the issues other than a lousy "apology." Word of mouth and reviews are sink or swim in today's world. I will be sure to stir every bride and groom that come my way far from Miguel's. It is not worth the frustration or embarrassment that your bridal party will experience for one of the most important and most photographed days of your life. Bottom line, go elsewhere. Miguels is a nice location, inside the store is well kept. The one mistake I made was not asking for a price quote prior to getting fitted. Miguel stated when I was paying that he applied a 40.00 discount on the three suits I was ordering. I was delighted until he gave the price. I paid 250.00 per suit after the so called discount. I later called around town which I should have done in the first place 3 other locations who provide Jim's formal wear suits stated the prices range from 134-149 + 24.00 shoe rental. Understandably this may not include a 7.00 bow tie and hankie even so I would have paid around 200 per suit not the 250.00 I was charged. I understand businesses operate to make a profit but I feel I was gouged on the price simply for not asking in advance which was my fault. After my rental I returned the suits to the location and showed my receipt which I had paid for shoe rental on one of the suits which I didn't order or use shoes on. I was told that my receipt was correct and a so called discount removed the price of the shoes I paid 20.00 for but after adding the prices on the receipt there definitely was not a discount applied. Other than being charged high prices the service was decent and all of my suits fit great. Miguel was professional in all aspects except for the absurd price I paid. Make sure you don't need to use the restroom when you go because you can't use theirs and even though you have a set day to pick up your suits be sure to call and make another appointment to be sure you don't get ridiculed for not having a timed appointment even though his open sign is on and no other customers present. Or simply visit another Jim's formal wear retailer and steer clear of this place. read more

I am so disgusted with Miguel's service as a bride. My dad received pants that were way too big even after being measured. The Entire wedding ceremony my dad was pulling his pants up and couldn't even enjoy the father daughter dance because he was concerned with his pants. Nor did the provided suspenders help in any way holding the pants up. Additionally, my dad didn't even receive the pocket square that every one else who rented tuxes should have received, especially being the father of the bride. To make matters worse, when my mother addressed the issues, Miguel decided one gift card for one single chik fil a sandwich was sufficient. Please don't waste your time and go elsewhere. read more

We were in need of a few hunter green cummerbund/bow tie sets at the last minute for a very special event. Miguel's saved the day when all hope was lost! This was a situation even the great and powerful Amazon Prime was unable to bail us out of. After calling around numerous shops and establishments in the region (department stores, formal wear shops, and even Walmart), Miguel's was our last hope, and they said it would be no problem! They put a rush order in, and had the items for pickup by noon the next day! They were friendly and helpful the entire time, and seemed to go the extra mile to help us out! Absolutely awful. Was charged for a item that I have the receipt for, only to be told that they made a mistake by not charging me enough and wouldn't honor the receipt that they gave me!!?? By far the best rental experience I've had. The owner takes pride in not only the experience for the groom but also the fashion. And it shows through his phenomenal selection and his daring eye for uniqueness. If you want the plain simple tux rental, sure any big box will accommodate. However, this small business is far from cookie cutter. Very attentive to the grooms needs, wants and ideas. The collaboration of what I had in mind, with our colors, were brought together to create a completely different look that I was desperately looking for. And his experience brought it to life. Those whom given negative reviews (and I pay more attention to negative than positive), did not read nor did they listen to the knowledgeable staff. Everything was mentioned up front, and any sizing issues is an easy fix, if you're on top of things as you should be...especially for a wedding. My party experienced NO ISSUES AT ALL. And there's no way I was an anomaly. If I were to make a complaint it's very trivial and really no reflection on them: I wish our wedding was pushed back just a bit...our rental was during their relocation, so we were not able to experience his complete vision that he intends for his grooms. Great place, awesome wholesome vibe not to mention the various ties and accessories for sale. Definitely a place that's listens to you and makes you feel as though they value you, not just your dollar. At the very least, it's well worth the trip just to see what they're about. My boyfriend and I came to a wedding from out of town. My boyfriend is one of the groomsmen in the wedding and we missed the cut off date for final fitting. As luck would have it, the measurements he submitted were incorrect and his pants were way too short, and didn't fit well at all. The owner of this place was able to find another pair of pants that fit my boyfriend and worked after hours to hem and adjust them for us, with no extra charge. This guy knows his stuff and definitely has a high standard, taking his work seriously. We had an excellent experience, especially from being out of town and them being able to work with us and tight turnarounds. On top of excellent customer service, the owner was very friendly! First of all, I will start by saying the suits ended up working out, but the whole process was a headache. Michael is very nice and competent, but his staff has major communication issues. This was the most stressful part of our wedding planning process, and it should have been one of the easiest. We had 4 out of town groomsmen who were supposed to get their tuxes delivered to them over a week in advance (they had to pay an additional $25 for this delivery service to ensure they fit). 2 weeks out till the wedding, we decided to call and check on the progress since we hadn't heard anything from them, and they still hadn't even ordered our suits. They said they were missing 2 of the groomsmen's measurements but never reached out to us or the guys for their sizes. (When Miguel's checked their email again, they found the "missing" groomsmen had already given their measurements over a month prior but they hadn't properly placed their measurements in our file). Days passed and still no one had received their suits. Several of the groomsmen, my fiancé and I all reached out to the store, and they kept reassuring us that they would be there the next day... the next day... the next day. The suits never showed up to the groomsmen. The suits ended up showing up at the VA Beach store eventually (after the receptionist told my groomsmen it had been delivered to his front door in NY, and it was basically his problem if he didn't have it), and the out of town groomsmen had to spend their Friday at the tux shop being fitted instead of their original pre-rehearsal plans (and still we ended up with missing cufflinks, pocket squares and suspenders throughout the group). My advice is to not use Miguel's if you have out of town groomsmen. The whole store is going through growing pains and is not competent at proper communication and handling the busy wedding/ prom season at once. read more

I HATE writing negative reviews, especially for small businesses because I know that reviews are so important for their reputation and success! But I had to write this because I was SO extremely displeased by the services provided by Miguel's Formal Wear. I was on the hunt for a reputable place for tux rentals. Through my searches and because I shopped at Maya Couture for wedding gowns previously (awesome experience there, btw!), I came across this establishment. The online reviews were pretty bad, but I figured unhappy customers were the people that were most likely to take time to write reviews (HA! And here I am writing this...). So I decided to give them a chance; love to support my local businesses! I decided to finally contact Miguel's after I found a Groupon for a tux rental. It was a great deal and since the wedding budget was tight, decided to make a call for an appointment. Once we got there, we were told they no longer accepted that Groupon deal and that Groupon had made the mistake by reposting it. I'm pretty sure that that same Groupon is still up and they didn't take any actions to remove it. Fine, I guess. They had other deals to offer 2x the amount of the Groupon. Michael was really patient with us when we initially came in for a consultation. He stressed the importance of the whole customer service experience. He stressed this several times, and despite the reviews, this made me a little more at ease. We left the establishment with all the details set for the tux rentals for a total of 10 people. We brought them a lot of business! My interactions after we left up to the big day were quite frustrating, to be honest. They seemed very unorganized stating that some of our party did not pay their deposits or did not send in measurements - which wasn't true. They would send emails, I would reply, but would never get a response back. We had to cancel an appointment for an afternoon fitting that morning because my fiancé worked overnight and had to attend to a pretty hectic emergency at the hospital and was so exhausted afterwards. When we called, we apologized for canceling last minute, and I was shocked to be met with such rude attitude and disrespect from the female clerk. I also received a voicemail from Miguels in regards to an email I sent. Completely confused since I had not sent an email for months, I called back. The email was from a person who's first 3 letters in her first name are the same as letters #6-9 in my last name. I have no idea how they even confused us. The worst part of our experience came a few days before the wedding. This is already a stressful time as all brides know and Miguel's just made my stress levels skyrocket through the roof! During the final fittings, a majority of the tuxes did not fit properly. WORST NIGHTMARE. The original measurements made several months prior to the wedding were either made in-house or by professional tailors and Miguel's STILL couldn't get it right. My groom had to return several times because everything was too short. We ordered white pearl cufflinks and buttons, and we received black ones. When we inquired about it, we were told that white wouldn't go with a blue tux with white accessories. Really?! Seriously?! I would have rather he just admit his mistake in ordering rather than make up some lie! The Father of the groom had to return a whopping 4 times to get a tux that was acceptable. The female clerk even threatened to not work with my father-in-law to make it right as he was voicing his extreme dissatisfaction with their customer service. That is a HUGE NO-NO for any business! When the tuxes were returned, again, my mother-in-law and groomsman were met with more attitude from the female clerk. I totally understand that rentals will not fit as well as a purchased, tailored-to-you suit. And I'm glad that the guys looks ACCEPTABLE (minus some short sleeves and highwaters on some of the guys). I would say I'm generally a level-headed, understandable, reasonable person. I am not one to complain. But I am so unhappy with the way they treated my family, my husband, and friends. Michael called the day after the wedding apologizing to my Father-in-law and offered to send something in the mail to make it right. I'm not sure what he's going to offer to counter all the stress and dissatisfaction we had to go through, but at least he's trying. Real Talk. Since the time I walked in for fitting, I already knew that they were unorganized. After waiting for almost 20 minutes just to get fitted, my best friend who is the groom also told me a lot of things went wrong. First, he received a call from Miguel stating that he lost all his notes about my friend's groomsmen suit (which also didn't match the color as presented on the catalog), plus he mentioned at first that the shoes were included, but then changed his mind, we had to provide or buy our own. After all this craziness, my friend also realized a month before his wedding that one of his best men (his brother) was taken off the rental list for no reason. This is a downgrade for the Maya Couture brand. Last time I rented from here a couple of years ago (used to be Jim's Formal Wear), everything was smooth from start to finish. This is such a disappointment, I suggest those who are thinking of renting here to go to Men's Warehouse or somewhere else instead. read more

Worst tux rental experience ever!!! I wish I could give zero stars. I just got married and decided to use this place instead of Men's Warehouse and have regretted it since January. They lost all of the measurements because they "switched to a new system" even though the measurements were taken on paper forms, or sent to the store via email from our out of state friends and family. They were extremely disorganized and even overcharged some people and completely left others off who had already paid in full. They messed up pretty much anything and everything. They had me crying three days before my wedding because every single suit was messed up in some shape or form. My husband's pants were too tight, my dad's suit was about three sizes too big and he received a size 10.5 shoe instead of an 8.5 and his vest was missing a button. Our ring bearer and our usher had to get their suits drop shipped to the hotel in Charlottesville because they were completely wrong and the ring bearer's jacket was filthy when it came into the store. His shoes were also missing. All of the groomsmen had to get their pants exchanged, or shortened because the store measured them incorrectly. None of the guys wear their pants at their belly buttons. The store caught none of their errors. They had an online site where they posted the measurements and pictures of the rentals and I can't even count the amount of times I had to email and call the store to tell them that they had incorrect information listed on the site for all of the guys. The tie my dad picked out was switched at the last second because they said it was no longer available and I actually had to go out and buy him a tie for the wedding. I would suggest finding a more reliable suit rental place for your wedding!!! My husband was promised a custom fitted shirt and the store also completely lost all the details of that shirt and they had to remeasure him and we had to reselect all of the details for it and he still hasn't received the shirt yet! They also spelled our last name wrong on all of the paperwork on the outside of all the suit bags even though it was written correctly on our paperwork that we filled out in the store and I even pointed it out!!!! So incompetent!!! Every time I called they put me on hold forever, or asked me to "call back later" and it took forever every time I went to complain in the store!! At one point one lady even tried to argue with me on the phone that they hadn't done too bad of a job...SERIOUSLY LADY READ THIS REVIEW!!!!! read more

TL;DR: 2 stars because 5 of 8 tux rentals didn't fit and it took several trips to fix the issues along with really poor customer service except from the manager. I recently got married and deciding against my better judgement since I had many groomsmen coming from out of town, went with my wife's recommendation to use a local vendor instead of a nationwide chain. Of the eight tuxes rented, only 3 actually fit on the first try which doesn't say much considering those measurements were actually taken by another tailor. The remaining 5 guys (myself included) had major issues with the fittings. For the first issue, my sleeves were WAY too short on my shirt. When I came in for the "initial" fitting a couple months prior, I stated the issue and the manager said it would be noted and taken care of. Fast forward 2 months to 4 days before my wedding. Not only were my sleeves still too short, but now my pants were about 2 inches too short as well. When I asked about my sleeves this time, I get a snotty remark back from the male clerk saying, "That's the way they are suppose to be." That may have flew with someone who may not have known any better but for some one who actually has to wear a shirt and tie everyday with the occasional suit or blazer, that's a BIG negative ghostrider. To go into further elaboration, the shirt sleeves were shorter than my jacket sleeves and sat about 1" above my watch so about 2 inches above my actual wrist. The saving grace on why I'm giving them 2 stars and not 1 is because they were extremely apologetic on the matter and were able to order in the correct shirt size but yet the pants were still about an inch too short. I didn't mind the pants since I went and bought suspenders to make it work since I didn't want to have worry about it 3 days before my wedding. Onto my other groomsmen party issues. For my best man who drove down 2 hours to get measured on-site had his shirt sleeves come back too short. Since he was coming from out of town and couldn't pick up the tux until a day before the wedding, there was nothing he could do about getting the correct size in. Luckily enough though, he had a custom shirt he had made for his wedding so he was able to improvise. For the next groomsman, his jack was ordered in way too small; to the point where his jacket sleeve was about 3 inches above his wrist. Again, that was able to be squared away since he picked it up early enough for it to be reordered in. For the other groomsman, I have no idea what the heck happened during either the measurements or final fittings but he looked like he was wearing capri pants. Since he's not one to really dress up any and really know proper etiquette, that falls completely on the tailor to ensure that everything fits the individual accordingly. Lastly, my father. To sum up his ordeal, it took him 3 separate trips to pick up his tux because something just did not fit one way or the other. The last issue to discuss is the customer service. I went along with this place because when we first had the appointment with the manager to discuss rental options, he prided the establishment on just that, customer service stating that it was "an experience." For not going to far into it on a public forum, it should be reiterated that customer service should be paramount from every member of the team and not just management. read more

I paid this business close to $1,000 and after THREE years still have no product to show for it. I have repeatedly contacted the owner about this and was ignored until I wrote a review similar to the one I am writing now. The owner said he would send me my money if I removed my review, I did, and three months later have not received any payment and have had no luck reaching the owner. Got measured here and the pants and shirt sleeves were too long. Everyone else in the wedding party who got measured here also had incorrect measurements. Whoever got measured out of state and sent them in received a better fitting tux. The people were nice though. Would not come again. read more
