On Monday night the 22nd we met my significant other' sons & mates for dinner. Their policy is to seat the whole group at one time. We arrived 1st and so we sat at the bar and talked to the owners. It was a pleasant conversation about 10 to 15 minutes later the rest of our party showed up. So we were promptly seated and given our menus. When the waitress came back she took our drink and appetizer orders. And then when she came back with our drinks we ordered our main course. The appetizers were artichokes French and Calamari none of which I partook in, I was told they were delicious. And then our main dish came out and I got the Cheese Ravioli which was good I got 6 good sized ones and I of course had leftovers lol! I also had a green salad and that was also good as well as the bread. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and then we ended it with a giant piece of chocolate cake again I did not partake in it. I've truly enjoyed my experiences at Davinci's for many years. My last two experiences were not so great. I can't recall the first time this was so, but decided to give it another chance. One of my favorites is Eggplant Parm and I ordered it last night. Something was off but I couldn't identify what it was; I thought maybe my taste was off. When I packed my leftovers to take home, I discovered that each piece of eggplant was burned on the bottom side and it didn't show on the plate. I mentioned this to our waiter (who was absolutely wonderful), but the chef/owner did not comp me or reduce the price. Of course, if I'd known it was burnt, I would have told the waiter earlier. However, knowing that I was disappointed in this meal due to poor cooking should have prompted the chef or owner to follow up and at least take a look. I'm not sure I'll be going back to Davinci's, which is sad. I once had a stuffed eggplant parm there, and I wish I could order it again. But burning the eggplant and serving it anyway just isn't right. read more

Went there on a Friday payday at 6 p.m. The place was not bustling, but about a quarter full for a Friday payday. This usually worries me, but I was already there. Here is the good, the bad, and the ugly. Good-drinks were good and about $14/each, my Veal chops were delicious, my friend's lobster risotto was delicious and the angel hair in pasta sauce was delicious. My other friend's chicken in some kind of pasta was decent at best. She did not finish it. Bad-although the restaurant was slow, it took the waiter almost 20-25 minutes to even acknowledge the 3 of us at our table. We sat there hungry for almost half an hour at a not so busy restaurant. The hostess only gave us one menu for 3 people. I asked for 2 more menus and was told there are no more menu. How is that even possible with the restaurant only a quarter full. I smiled as I usually do and we all shared one menu. Ugly-I paid the bill for all 3 of us and was going to give my usual 30-35% tip because I waited tables for over a decade. I went to add a great tip because the food was great and noticed there was no line for tipping. The waiter, Patrick, already added in 18% gratuity. I have never added gratuity to a table of 3 when I was a server. Nonetheless, he got a lower tip than I was going to give him, that is on him. We love going to Davinci's. The food is always very good and the atmosphere is cozy. A great place to try if you are in the mood for great Italian food and want to support a local business. White linen tablecloths, jazz music, and table candles, and a fireplace in the colder months make for some warm ambiance. I love the Chicken Davinci, Chicken Asiago, Haddock Asiago, and Shrimp Scampi. My husband says their veal saltimbocca is one of his favorite meals anywhere. You can add a salad onto your meal for only $1, and if you don't prefer red sauce, they have a (very garlicky) alfredo sauce upon request. A few things could be improved: their chairs are always wobbly, the salad had cheap iceberg lettuce mix underneath the spring mix on top (I'd rather pay $2 for a full spring mix salad), and we ordered a bottle of wine and our mediocre server didn't bring a chiller for the table. read more

We wanted to try Davinci's since we hadn't been there in many years and the previous ownership. We were pleasantly surprised. We started off with wine/cocktails and Sicilian calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was crispy and extra spicy and was a generous portion. We followed with me having the house salad which was fresh and varied and my wife having a chicken escarole soup which was uniquely delicious. My chicken Davinci and her chicken Marsala were both well-prepared with a side of pasta; we both took home enough of our entrees for another meal. Warm, fresh rolls were replenished and water glasses were kept full. Plenty of friendly servers seemed to keep all guest happy and the meal was paced nicely. We plan on returning again. read more

We had a large group for new years dinner. They sat us in two different rooms. In one room, a group was by themselves.... The other room there was one table with more people. There was a third table that was on the other side of the room from them. There was a fee to rent the room. Our family would have been okay to pay the fee, but I as told that room will be used for overflow and they would try to seat us together. We got there and saw there was an empty table next to us and asked if our family could be there as no one at either table have ordered food yet. They said no due to there not being enough servers... that would have been okay if they weren't going to seat anyone at that open table at all. But that wasn't the case I don't think. Overall, it felt like they just wanted the fee for the room, which we would have paid, but said it couldn't be rented because the room would be overflow that night. Not only that, there were other groups eating in they "rented room" as well. The manger at first was okay to talk to, but when she overheard us talking about how it doesn't make sense to our other table I the other room, she cut in and was pretty rude to one of our matriarchs. Overall, we left. I don't think any of us would be coming back. Rochester has many other options to choose from. read more

We were running on a tight schedule and the staff decorated for us, had the champagne poured ready to go, food was hot, delicious and great portions. We got clams casino, oysters, fettucine alfredo and eggplant parm. I didn't love the clams casino (nothing against Davinci's, I think I just don't like clams casino). My fiance surprised me by getting a slice of tiramisu! I was so excited as he knows I love tiramisu. I think that was the only thing I ate that was "just ok". We out-of-towners were invited here for a family dinner on a Saturday night in July and had very good service. They couldn't have been more accommodating when we changed times to an earlier one at the last minute. Food-wise it was okay. My linguine with Italian Sausage was a bit dry. Not a lot of sauce. Sausage was very good. Sis loved her linguine w/clam sauce. Husband said his ravioli was okay. I would have ordered it, but didn't when I asked and was told it is not made in house. Especially disappointing in that I had checked Yelp ahead of time and had seen a pic here from the owner of what looked like handmade ravioli. Others seemed satisfied with their meals. Relative next to me had a giant bowl of Tripe drowning in sauce. (If he hadn't been a distant relative I would have asked to pour his extra sauce on my dry linguine). He didn't even touch his ziti that came with it. Price-wise I heard the family member that was paying declare that he was surprised the bill wasn't higher. read more

Our family chose Davinci's to host a repast after our brother's funeral on August 10th. After a visit to the restaurant and meeting with the manager to discuss appetizers and main courses, one of my surviving brothers placed a deposit. We were told that we would be given the two adjoining banquet rooms for the event. Less than 24 hours before the event we were informed that our event would be relocated to the main dining room in order to accommodate another party. This change required that we end our event at 3pm to give the staff time to clean up and prepare the room for normal dinner service. There was no apology or compensation offered. This should have been our first clue to how the rest of the event would unfold. Appetizers were set out and shortly after, the main buffet selections were set out. No serving staff appeared , and it wasn't until guests waited for some time and took it upon themselves to self-service, that the wait staff showed up to serve. Once the guests were played, the wait staff disappeared again, leaving guests to serve themselves again. For the most part, the food quality was acceptable. The roasted potatoes were good, as was the sausage with peppers and onions. The chicken parmesan, however, was disappointing. It was overcooked, dry and tough. The cookies were very good. Reconciling the final bill continues to be an ongoing fiasco. When it came time to settle up, we requested the bill be divided among five of us, and the manager did just that. However, when we were give our individual bills, it was apparent the total did not add up to the overall bill we were presented. That overall bill included an assumed 20% gratuity not included in the 5-way split. Perfect,since gratuities are normally determined by the customer not the service provider. Two of the five of us included a gratuity of less than 20%, the remaining three bill-payers provided no gratuity because they were unaware it had not been included already. To their surprise, their credit cards had been charged, after the fact, for a 1/3 share of the remaining balance of a 20% gratuity. At the very least, that's a poor business practice. At the worst, it's unethical and perhaps illegal. The three who received their "surprise" are now challenging those charges. On a day where service and quality truly mattered, Davinci's failed. Hopefully, this review will alert others and help Davinci's to do better. read more

We arrived right at opening and our server was fun and welcoming. For an appetizer we had Arincini and the rice balls and especially the moat of sauce they were served in were amazing. I'm glad there weren't too many people in the dining room as I tried to not look weird spooning up about a cup of extra sauce that surrounded the rice balls. Unfortunately, neither my Portabella mushroom and chicken special nor the cheese ravioli lived up to the high bar set by the app. The chicken dish had all the lovely ingredients described by the server and it was piping hot but just not very interesting. I would have liked maybe a more prominent wine flavor to add to what seemed to mostly just be a chicken stock based sauce. On May 13, we were there for graduation dinner party of 11 ppl at 5:30p reservation. There was 2 tables of 2-4 ppl seated ahead of us. We got seated 10-15mins later. We didn't mind to share menu, but let's me tell you there was only 3 menus on table for 11 of us. Server came around about 15mins, asked for few more menus and he brought us couple more. Our drinks was not complicated at all, soft drinks, moscato and mojitos and good 15 mins later we got our drinks, but missing moscato. Finally moscato got dropped off 20mins later and only 1/3 glass filled. We ordered food and it took an hours later for food came out, but food got messed up and lucky me again, my food didn't make it same time with the rest. Finally my chicken scampi came out when my group about finishing up their meal. Everything we ordered from appetizer to entrees w soups was so salty. Two words sum up this place..."TRAIN WRECK!" And not just a normal train wreck, I'm talking about an Amtrak head-on collision type of wreck! We arrived ten minutes early for our reservation with only a few tables occupied, but they wouldn't seats us until our reservation time. They then seated us at a wobbly table that I tried to fix with sugar packets under the dirty legs of the table that didn't work. Our server was literally dressed in her Christmas Pajamas (it was Christmas Eve). I honestly would've loved to critique the food, but we literally walked out of the restaurant after 30 minutes (not exaggerating) waiting for water, our drinks, and appetizers that never showed! We asked for bread that never came. We politely asked three different servers (one being the owner) for bread and water and all three repeatedly failed to deliver anything to our table and there were only three tables occupied in the whole place. We honestly thought we could've secretly been a part of a comedy show like, "Punked," or "America's Funniest Home Videos" because I wouldn't have ever believed service could've been that poor in any restaurant. I have been going to this restaurant for many years, even had a small wedding reception in the party room 15 years ago . I ordered takeout this evening and tried to use a coupon which they would not allow. They stated due to covid they had to change the coupon policy . The coupon was for $12 off two meals, they wouldn't honor it saying it was for dine in only, that was not stated anywhere on the coupon. The manager called the owner over and we told her that we wouldn't be coming back and she said that's fine and walked away. As for the food, the chicken parmigiana was good but the chicken French was not nearly as good as it used to be. We received the wrong meal called and explained we were told the proper meal was being re made and would be re delivered Over an hour went by so we called the lady who we spoke to said she tried to call twice yet we have no missed calls. After explaining our frustration from an order placed at 8pm and it's now 10pm when we were told someone was going to remake and re deliver the woman continued to say she didn't know the right order even though it was confirmed via phone and on the online order. Unfortunately I have to say this was an extremely disappointing experience. The service was extremely slow and it took a while to be greeted by our server. I can assure you they weren't slammed. She eventually came over and took our drink order. The drinks were wrong once we received them. When she came back and asked for our order I asked about specials which she wasn't going to share. It took forever to get our soup which was wedding broth as opposed to soup. We asked for bread and that also took forever to get. We asked for another drink which we ended up having to go to the bar ourselves to get them. We ordered linguine in white clam sauce. Sauce was straight oil, pasta was undercooked and there were chunks of onion in the sauce. I ordered lobster ravioli which had so much sauce on it you couldn't find the ravioli nor appreciate the taste. I believe the owners also own Bernard's Grove and we had a fabulous experience there. The tortellini alla panne is one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time and the portion is huge- best leftovers ever. Also, you have to end your meal with the mascarpone berry cake! Too much food, took a bunch home but it was all so delicious! Extremely disappointed; dined with friends at DaVinci's several years ago and the food and service were fantastic. Now that it is under different management the last experience left a bad taste in my mouth and will be my last visit. My family booked a gathering in August for a brothers repass. We were informed less than 24 hours prior that our party was being moved into the main dining room because a larger party was being accommodated to use the 2 adjoining rooms that we had reserved and paid a deposit for. This meant we had to end our gathering early so that the main dining room would be available for dinner. The service was sub-par; on a few occasions the servers were not at their food stations to serve our guests. Food was to be served buffet style. In my opinion the quality of the food was also sub-par as the Chicken Parmesan was overcooked and dry, was not served hot and was rather bland. With no exaggeration I have had tastier chicken parm out of a Stouffers box. When estimating a number of guests, we decided 80-100 should be fairly close. We were charged for and paid for 100 (at approx. $30 per guest). All total, there were 50-60 people. When manager was questioned about the left over food (which was already paid for), we were told that due to "state regulations", buffet food cannot be taken out of the establishment. After a call to the NYS Dept. of health, that regulation is applicable to "All you can eat" buffets. This was not that type of buffet; there is a big difference between "buffet" and "buffet style". Personally I feel we were ripped off of approx. 40 meals. Finally, when we split the bill 5 ways, we were not informed that the 20% gratuity was deducted from the total; for some reason, the gratuity was added separately without our knowledge to 3 of the credit cards without authorization to do so. I consider this unprofessional, unethical and downright shady. By law, I believe this is considered credit card fraud. Removing the gratuity and charging it separately also raises a red flag. With all of this said, I would highly recommend that if you are considering this establishment for any type of party to consider alternate venues; if you do book a reservation here I suggest you underestimate the number of attendees unless you have an EXACT number. read more

She found that the guests had left behind their left overs(at least 3 items in a bag) and walked it over to the hostesses. These guests couldn't have been in their car yet... and rather than stepping out the door to see if they had actually left.. the hostess simply set it on a table near the hostess stand where it stayed for the next 1 1/2 hrs. ?? Two hostesses standing, not busy at all, yet the young lady nor the hostesses considered the fact that those guests chose to dine there and spend their money, yet weren't worthy of making an effort to see if they were still just outside getting into their cars??? *** No manager in site in the dining room... although you can count on Kim, the bartender, to make you feel special. Kim walked around and greeted guests, sat guests, stopped by tables and made the dining experience more enjoyable. If the others simply made a little more effort or picked up a few of these tips from Kim... It had been a few years since we were last in Greece and we chose to stop into DaVinci's with my husband, mother and father in law. The review is a mix of good and, confusing I suppose? We had made Online reservations only to find out when we showed up, there was no record of it. We showed the hostess the confirmation, and there seemed to be an air of, how do we handle this situation. There were several empty tables, so we did wait for about 15 minutes when seated at one of the table's that had been vacant. While we were waiting, we noticed the dining room appeared to have downsized, which can be a good thing, more of an intimate setting/not as loud. Our server, sweet girl... maybe this was her first night? She really seemed to be clueless or lack training on what a server does, how to interact with customers... some people are truly at ease interactions with strangers... She. Was. Not. Didn't seem to get the concept of asking if anyone needed refills, if anyone needed something, the idea of service industry seemed terrifying to her. The food on the otherhand, was outstanding. The portions were large, seasoned and cooked well, our compliments to the chef! We did notice that there appeared to be a big take out presence with the number of people coming to pick up their order, not sure if what we saw from a service standpoint was indicitive of why that might be? again the food was amazing, and my MIL is a fantastic Italian cook. We had planned to stick around for dessert, but our server didn't come to ask if we had wanted anything else, only because she overheard my father in law had said to his wife that, he would like coffee while she was collecting our dinner plates, she returned promptly with the coffee, however- I also wanted coffee as did my mother in law...MIL flagged her down to ask if we could see a dessert menu and have coffee as well, brought the dessert to my husband, but didn't bring out a fork, and used my MIL's coffee spoon Since she disappeared. We waited probably another 20 minutes for her to bring the bill over. Maybe it was felt that because gratuity was included, that she was getting a tip no matter what. I don't know. The flow just was never picked up on. I think we could see ourselves ordering from there again, but as take out. I hope they look at hiring people that have experience within the serving Industry, otherwise I don't see the dining room remaining open. read more

First time coming to this restaurant and the food was very very good. Me and my lady came here for a date night and could night have choose a much better place to come to. We started our night with some fried calamari, which I usually don't eat but wanted to try, and we were not disappointed at all. We then ordered ourselves some wine, I had a glass of Prosecco Paraiso which spelled and tasted like peach and was very very good, and my lady had a glass of Rising Sunset, which was strong but she really loved it. We both got the grilled salmon special which came in a very large portion and was very very good as well. Also our sever Monique was really amazing too, that young lady definitely deserves a raise!! The set up was very too. We didn't pay for the side I'm about to mention because we knew nothing about it, but these people had a live band playing and the music went very well with the ambiance of the restaurant.
