I needed to get a key copied. I went to a local hardware store that was unable to help me. One of the workers there ended up referring me to Davis Lock. The key cutting was very fast. The worker let me take the key to my vehicle to verify that it worked before I paid for the keys. I'm sure prices vary, but I paid $5/key. Davis Lock and Safe was able to figure out over the phone that my lock was an old-style Mortis lock with a missing internal spindle AND they walked me through disengaging the lock (over the phone and free of charge) so we can again get in and out our front door (without waiting two days for an appointment)! (We were unable to unlock it, even from the inside, after my kids engaged it by pushing the button on the cross-section of the door and shutting it. That lock isn't used anymore because we have keypad locks instead; we never even received a physical key for that old knob-lock when we bought the house and the only way to engage the knob-lock is either by using the (nonexistent) key from the outside or by pushing the automatic lock/unlock button on the cross-section of the door. So our front door was essentially stuck shut.) After slogging through Google maps to figure out which listings were legit, settling on Davis Lock and Safe, and then calling around to see if any other locksmith was going to be available today or tomorrow (using recommendations provided by Davis Lock and Safe), I circled back around to Davis Lock and Safe. But rather than just making an appointment with me, the man I spoke to asked about particulars of the lock and, in less than five minutes, was able to tell me how to disengage it myself by using one of the knobs that I had already taken out! The excellent knowledge, consideration, and customer service of the man I spoke to saved me a lot of inconvenience over the next several days and probably $100-$200! Very grateful! read more

Look out shoppers, this company is unethical and appears to be a rip-off business for the unsuspecting. We had new locksets installed on three doors in July 2021. We bought the locksets from them. May 2022 all three were falling apart, we could not tighten the mounting screws into the door frame. The screws were too short to grip the wood doors. I called and asked them to repair what had been incorrectly installed. I was told, on the phone, to get longer screws. What? Wasn't that what should have been done by their installer when we purchased and had them install new lock hardware? Huh? So today a tech arrived and then had to leave to go to a hardware store to get screws adequate for the installation that we paid them for last summer. And we paid them a good amount of money back then. All seemed okay except that they did not have alternative screw sizes in their van, an odd thing for an installation company. It turns out that today they expected us to pay them $200, yes $200 for their correction of the bad installation they had done originally. I could not believe it and the tech backed off immediately. I suspect that his cost-for-doing basically nothing was an effort to get even more than the several hundred dollars we paid them for a professional installation last summer. I couldn't believe that his excuse was that they only use the screws that come with the lock hardware we had bought from them. An incredible excuse. Do you suppose that if no screws had come with the hardware we purchased from them, they'd not have installed any? What? They were so bad that they did not know that longer screws many be required for the face plates in the edges of the doors? What kind of professional installer is this? This morning the tech quickly agreed that he would waive the $200 for correcting their faulty installation. Can you believe that he would offer to forego an exorbitant cost to repair what they were hired to do correctly the first time if this were not a rip-off attempt? Beware shoppers, this company was neither professional nor reputable in our dealings. Good luck to you. We will not purchase their services again. read more

I was totally ripped off by these people. I brought my lock to them. They said a new part would cost $150. Instead they were able to fix the old lock after 20 minutes but still charged me $150 after the job was finished. I was there the whole time. I definitely do not recommend read more
