Awful place.Very dirty. So many tourists coming to pick peaches. Leave garbage all over. Not a great experience. Never again.

SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THE REVIEWS WE READ BEFORE WE DROVE OUT TO THIS FARM, YOU'RE BETTER OFF GOING TO A SUPERMARKET FOR PEACHES!!!! We decided to go peach picking this Sunday and this was the only place my husband could find open. He had read bad reviews on this farm but we decided we would try it anyway. WORST PLACE- extremely rude employees (those of which even speak broken English) nasty grounds with many smashed peaches and not a great selection. Not to mention, parking is a disaster- you have to watch every car trying to cram itself into a small lot, and pray you don't get killed for a darn peach. And I was barely allowed to bring in a wristlet holding my debit card & license (guess they thought I could fit peaches into it) Trust me when I tell you- save your time & money. read more

I have never been so offended by such vulgar, tasteless, and confrontational people in my life. Lewin's apple picking was closed, so we decided to go here. We apparently "snuck in" through the front entrance... because....when you go pick apples, what do you do? Go into the field. We had a good time walking around, didn't find too much, but went up with a few peaches to purchase. While waiting on line, we heard management saying something to another patron concerning a deposit before going onto the field. A what?? I've never heard of that while apple picking?? So when I got to the register, I explained that sorry, we had no idea there was any type of deposit required. The cashier turns to me and goes, "so, you just thought you would go in there and steal?" Clearly, I must have failed thief school, because I thought the best way to steal something was to go up to the register with my wallet out. Duuuuuuuuhhhhhh. Not caring for this unfounded accusation, as well as the fact that Ms. Davis started shrieking like a deranged banshee and shoving her phone in my face, I politely said "I'm sorry, I'm not going to take anything," left the fruit on the counter and walked away. Some people you can't even have a reasonable conversation with. There was no clear signage concerning this policy, nor any displaying price. With a farm that is looking for funding, you would think they would do everything they can to talk to customers calmly. However, after looking at Yelp, Google and reviews on their Facebook page, I don't think they're interested in what customers feel they are lacking. If possible, avoid at all costs!!! read more

My wife treated me to taste what peaches should taste like and not meally like the ones from Costco. K ... let's go and drive over 30 miles to the farm / Labor Day 2014. Yes , it taste like peaches as remember it soft and juices but we did not go picking them . There was no parking on site so we parked on the street. It was so crowded and garbage everywhere. I guy directing traffic had a big stick and shouting as loud as he shout not to bring your pocket book while you are picking peaches . How much can you put in a woman's pocket book without it looking over stuffed .Just check the bag later when you pay. We decided to buy peaches that was already picked , some tomatoes , red fresh figs and corn. Overall, I was not disappointed with their fresh produce but was very disappointed with the way they treat their customers . BTW There is a water spigot besides the corn canopy booth.if you can not wait to try your fruits. read more

Some pro tips to maximize your experience: First, park out on the street. Don't attempt the lot unless you do not value your car or your sanity. Next, walk all the way to the back, past the line for self pick and go into the produce stand. Ignore the nasty clerks with their ecigarettes and bad attitudes and buy the best looking baskets of beautiful ripe peaches. Go home and find your best peach crisp recipe and be rewarded for your perseverance with the sweetest most luscious peachy goodness Long Island has to offer. I was not sure what to expect but figured we'd give it a try. The peaches were good (we also bought some Sangria mix as profiled on News12) and the prices were good, but the picking experience was less than desirable. Most of the trees in the area where we were directed had been picked clean of ripe fruit and when we did see some good peaches to pick, we had to walk through piles of rotten peaches swarming with flies and gnats. I don't know if that is the fault of the farm or the customers. read more

RUDE and RACIST and it's a peach farm where you're not allowed to pick peaches, just apples. Huh? I am a fan of being fair so I will give all sides of the story. My parents, their friends, my grandmother and I went this weekend. Their friend went in the peach area where the staff was not letting people in and picked a peach. She got caught and this agitated the staff- that was our bad. But they sent 3 staff to follow us and tell us to leave despite the fact that we hadn't maxed out the $20 deposit (the farm makes you pay $20 upfront so if you don't pick $20 worth of apples, it's your lost). Feeling extremely uncomfortable, we went to go pay. On the way my 87-year-old grandmother who is hearing impaired, has cancer and NO teeth or dentures left with her nurse to use the restroom. The staff wouldn't have it. Where was my grandmother and her nurse, they asked? Why were they spending so long in the bathroom? (My grams has cancer and moves slowly. Sorry...?) They had a big bag when they went in, the staff said. They MUST be eating stolen peaches in the bathroom. First off, that's a disgusting claim and secondly, did I mention that my grandmother has NO TEETH? Angered at this, my parent's friend started speaking in Chinese. The staff told us all to GO BACK WHERE WE CAME FROM AND TO LEARN ENGLISH. WOW. It's one thing to reprimand people for not following rules ( though picking a peach at a PEACH farm doesn't seem that crazy) but it's completely different to make accusations at the elderly and to rip on peoples' race and integrity. In my parents' 30 years of living on Long Island as hard-working, neighborly citizens, none of us had ever felt so utterly disrespected and degraded. Needless to say, we won't be going back there. But apparently other customers who witnessed the incident won't be either. People came up to us afterwards to lament about how disgusted they were and how poor the service was in general. As other have said, Unfriendly workers and rude staff No bag or pocket knives allowed $10 deposit required per person, can be used only toward self picked fruit, nonrefundable Several areas with the best quality fruit is roped off I saw a group head in without knowing these policies and were treated very poorly. They brought the picked group to the counter to pay and were accused of stealing for not going through the deposit process. After being berated by the owner they left the fruit at the counter and left. The owner then proceeded take pictures and post them on facebook blasting them for taking food out of her baby's mouth. I saw this go down and quietly left never to return. read more

Went here during July for my mother's birthday and absolutely loved it! The farm is pretty big and the peaches last so long. My only problems was when the worker mumbled instructions to us, and the prices. Over all we enjoyed. I recommend taking children as pictures come out adorable. read more

I really wanted to like this place. We called to ask about the upick of the day (peaches, plums, and apples). When we got there I couldn't help to reflect back on the accuracy of past reviews. They told us they didnt have peaches even though over the phone they guaranteed it as their fruit of the day. A $10 deposit was required prior to entrance, when we walked down the rows their trees were typically bare. Plums were scarce and when sighted were not yet ripe. Only one variety of apple was seen which was semi-ripe, tart, but edible. I would recommend trying a neighboring farm. read more

Horrible horrible customer service I suggest you check the reviews before coming to this place . The staff was very rude they tried to rip us off by saying the peaches and apples where going to be charged by the pound when this wasn't explained or said to us before going inside to pick these fruits . I don't recommend this place to anyone . The ladies also said we were going to get very sick because we had grabbed some peaches ? When we weren't even told not to get peaches . Every year we like to go peach piking but never again at Davis.The people are not nice.They send you to pick where they have already picked and there's nothing left. They are very nasty. I was not allowed to bring in the farm a tiny little leather bag that would hold just my cell phone.I was told to leave it in the car....so I went back to the car and drove to Lewins farm stand and bought my peaches.When Lewins farm is open(they close mid sept I think) I will pick there....lovely people and cheeper prices. read more

I don't understand why people are giving such scathing reviews. Yes, there were a few cups and napkins on the ground by the portapotty, but really, this is going to ruin your experience? These boys working the front were completely overworked! They were dealing with all kinds of situations from people sneaking out without paying for their peaches, to people not speaking English, to someone who was fighting with them to bring in their tiny dog. I got a ton of delicious & ripe peaches for $20 and of course I left my bag in the car! You're on a farm...do you really need to bring your huge purse with you? I brought my clutch wallet and was fine. Have a little respect for their rules. We walked down to the rows of trees that were ready...less than a quarter mile. Plenty of ripe, perfect peaches. As far as the long grass and dirty shoes at the end, You're on a farm...isn't that the way it's supposed to be?! read more

Very unprofessional. Arrived with our children. Were charged $10 upon entering and told that if we pick over a third of the bag they handed us, we would be charged more. If we picked under the amount they allow for $10, we would not be provided any refunds for the difference. They explained to us that if we picked anything other than the 2 types of peaches they showed us, we would be charged another $5.00 per fruit type (nectarines, apricots). We began to make our way down the dirt road towards the 2 rows they allowed us to pick peaches from, and some kid came running after us shouting. He said that I couldn't go in to the orchard with my purse. When we asked why he said "it' the law" and he said I wasn't allowed in with it (mind you I have a small handbag that was full of personal belongings). After this we went back up to the stand where we paid to get in, and the crowd of women in front of us were being told that they too were not allowed in with their handbags. They began turning away to leave. This handbag policy was not explained when we paid (instead we were shouted at in front of everyone, thanks for the humiliation!). The only positive thing that came out of our visit to this farm was that the man standing at the register was nice enough to provide us with a full refund. We did not purchase peaches from this farm. We did find a nice farm down the road with much more reasonable prices that allowed us to keep our personal items on us, and we were allowed to pick from more than just 2 rows. read more

I am reading a lot of bad reviews from way out of towners, but as a local who buys peaches frequently, i would like to shed some light. I have never gone peach picking there, but they come to my local rocky point farm stand. I think the staff are nice and Helpful. i usually buy a bucket of "leftover" or not perfect peaches for much less. Seriously there's nothing wrong with them except a few bruises. Their perfect peaches are definitely a little expensive. I like to use them for juicing. As far as picking on their farm, I see nothing wrong with taping off sections that are ok for picking. Of course they want to wait until the fruits are ripe to allow you to pick them. I think a lot of these critics are city folk who are not gardening or farming and have no real knowledge of this- just unrealistic expectations. $10 doesn't really sound that expensive for a fun family day. I am sure they are just trying to make ends meet, just like the rest of us. Give them a break! read more

I cant vouch for the whole Peach Picking Experience, but if you are just interested in the food aspect of it, you cant beat this place with a stick. The peaches are by far the best i have ever had and the assortment of hybrid fruits, Pluots, and apriums, will leave your shirt drenched in the juciest fruit you have ever had. I make the hour and a half journey out there twice a year, and after having there peaches, youll see why. read more

All the negative reviews are spot on. I go apple picking every year, first year I came here. I couldn't wait to get my apples and get out! There were so many apples on the grass, the whole place smelled like rotten apples. Most of the apples that you can pick were up very high where I could not reach. Way way out in the boonies (Wading River, NY), this quaint farm is a nice day-trip destination. There's a small market as you enter which sells hand-picked, farm-fresh fruits. This is a good option if you are not picking fruit yourself, but for those who decide they want a go at the fruit trees, know that it will cost you $10 for bag of fruit under 10 lbs., and any amount over that will be $2 per pound. The variation is a bit scant, as there are only apple and plum trees to pick from, at least on the day that we went. The nectarines were blocked off from public picking for an undisclosed reason, though they were clearly ripe for the taking. There aren't any signs indicating each area, so you can get a little disoriented. Also, the farm is slightly dirty from all the fallen fruit that have been subsequently tread upon and smashed into the ground as folks walk by without noticing. As well, there is a lot of collateral damage from picky pickers who throw the fruits they picked aside if it doesn't meet their standards. Overall, Davis Peach Farm has its charms but I definitely would not feel inclined to visit more than one time a year. read more

I have felt the need to write this review because I read all these reviews before I ventured out there and I am sure glad I still did .First of all they 'demand' a 10 dollar fee BECAUSE people have absolutely no respect. I was horrified to see people treating it like an all you can eat buffet. They would peel the peaches and leave the peels on the ground and just pull peaches off the tree and if they didn't like them toss them aside. The Davis family may own a farm but they are also a business. When waiting on the line you do get hurried through but there is no time for personalized service on the in line...Your 10 dollars is a credit if you purchase peaches. Who would go peach picking and apple and plum picking and get under 10 dollars worth? If you wanted 2-3 peaches you would just buy them. On the way out of the Orchards, I had nothing but wonderful service. What I did notice was customers who were treating the help with disrespect. I asked a question that couldnt be answered by that person and they brought someone over to me that could answer it. They had sangria mix tastings.....We were treated very nicely and at the end even had a chat with Mrs. Davis.....I believe if you are kind and respectful to people whether they speak English or not you get that same respect back......I will definitely be bringing my family back!!! read more

I'm giving this one star because I couldn't write a review without one. Honestly they don't even deserve half a star. After seeing Davis Peach Farm on channel 12 news, I made plans with my sister to take my sons out for a day of peach picking. I should have read reviews before taking an hour ride out there... I have no idea how this place has stayed in business for so long. After paying a $10 deposit, which apparently is non refundable (found out at check out) we went searching for peaches to pick. There were 2 rows of trees to pick from which were bare. The only fruit left on the trees was buggy and disgusting. The rest of the orchard was full of peaches but workers yelled at everyone as they got near. After slugging through tall grasses, and slipping in rotten fruit we left with 3 peaches. At checkout, the owner who was extremely rude told us that there were no refunds and wouldn't give us our money back. We were NOT allowed to shop at the farm stand where checkout was to use up the remaining balance of our deposit. As a business owner, I would never speak to my customers the way she yelled at us in front of my toddler and infant. We will never return nor will we purchase their produce in the future. read more

If I could give a lower star I would. I am an avid farm goer and this by far is the worst farm I have been too. My main complaint is not about the quality of the peaches- in that respect it is pretty decent. However the whole experience is terrible. First of all, the man with the glasses who "welcomes" the guest is an awful representation of someone who should be promoting a fun day at the farm. I've never encounter someone so RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Davis peach farm- he needs to go! He has some nerve yelling, screaming and being rude to the customers. He made racists comments and made it such an unpleasant experience. Additionally he had NO idea what he was talking about. First he said you pay 5 dollars per 10 people - but quickly changed his mind. Second compliant - you have to pay 10 dollars per 5 people- half of the peach farm is cut off. There is no food or fun at this farm. Go to Lewins down the road and save yourself from coming here. I'm shocked this place is still in business! read more

sweet peaches and thats the only good thing about this farm or should i say dump. everywhere is filthy with diapers bags paper all kinds of garbage but organic matter. there are a lot of restricted rows and theres guys with wizzles ready to call on you if you traspass so u often hear guys yelling and using their wizzles. lots of workers hanging oit behind counter and nobody maintaining the farm flies everywhere very disorganized. read more

Hmm how to start. Well parking was easy. As we walked in, one of the employees that was in charge of letting people through to go peach picking first asked us what we wanted to do. He wasn't friendly at all. No greet or even smile. It's $10 per group. The most is 5 people per group. The guy gave us a bag to put in the peaches and was able to only come back with 5lbs of peaches and if we had more then 5lbs we had to pay $2 for each surpassed pound. Before we went peach picking, we decided to look at the the fruit stand they had. My mom accidentally wondered off into an unmarked employee area and a extremely rude employee yelled at her to get out as if she was going to steal something. It was a simple mistake. You can't even tell that area was for employees only. No sign or rope line to distinguish the employee area. I have never seen such way to treat a customer. My mother complained to the owner and the owner didn't even care of the fact that one of her employees screamed at a customer. Not just my mother but I witnessed other customers being yelled at for touching the fruit too much. The employees stare at you as if you're a criminal and if you're a good looking female the males stare at you like hungry dogs. We still decided to pick peaches. There's only like 2 or 3 rows you can pick from. The only highlight was that we actually found good peaches and were able to eat them there before heading back out to checkout. (we had water bottles to rinse them) so overall customer service is terrible and the peaches were okay. I wouldn't come back here though. I'm sure there's other more friendlier places. read more

My family and I have been going to this peach farm for as long as I can remember. My parents even go 5 or more times a year! However yesterday was THE LAST time!! First of all they sent us to trees that had BARELY any peaches, majority of them were on the floor (which we do not want) and the ones on the trees were so tiny!!! So when we went up to pay, my mother and aunt explained to the lady, there were basically no peaches to pick in the aisle they sent us! And OMG what an attitude!!!! She was so rude, and arguing with us!!!! Never in my life had I ever seen a place of business give an attitude like to a customer!!! She told us "go down the street to Levins" and was arguing that even tho the peaches were small, there were still peaches there! I don't know about everyone else but who wants a small peach!! Especially the next aisle over had big beautiful peaches that was all cautioned taped off!!! But honestly we will never go there again, the attitude and the way she spoke to us was so disrespectful!! We own a restaurant and no matter what the customer says we always try to talk to them and make them happy!! Well not at Davis peach farm!! The lady had not even one nice word to say!!!! read more
