Hi Taylor, Unfortunately you are behind the curve on this. First the fabrication and installation was almost 12K which was double everyone else. The most disappointing thing is blaming Dieter for this when he is saying he did not install it. When we pulled the old counter tops up there was only one spot of adhesive for two countertops. This would explain why the seam was separating and then the counter top cracked. The fact that the original email (which I have and plan on posting) stated too bad its out of warranty and come to find out the installation was done incorrectly is extremely disappointing. This was pretty poor. They installed a little kitchen countertop in our newly remodeled ohana. I had countertops installed before in an other house, by others, they came and did a plywood sub. template first, and then took the template to the shop to make a stone countertop. Davis Tile people came once to measure and second time to make plywood and stone in one visit on site. The stone was already all cut, in a shop, and of course, did not fit. They had to fit it cutting drywall on my walls, (well we shall install a backsplash anyway) and also, rotate the slab a bit, now overhang over cabinets is uneven, end of cabinet is not even covered, about 1/4 to1/2 inch, it is noticeable and we have to push refrigerator close to it to make it less visibI tried to avoid placing negative review, i know there is nothing they can change now, I emailed them -just wanted to steam it out, but they did not answer. On a bright site it was cheaper than in the other places. But if I knew it would be so poor work, I would pay more and order it in the other place. It looks ok, not horrible. read more

I was determined to us 3 cm thick granite in my kitchen because it doesn't have to have the edge cut and laminated. I had a hard time finding 3 cm on the island, and I didn't want to buy a whole slab. These guys had an impressive selection of 3 cm in granite, quartz and marble. And you pay for what you use. I was invited to visit while they laid out the cuts so I could point out areas of the slab that I wanted to highlight in my kitchen counter. They were very professional in all phases, and I appreciated Gary's attention to detail and willingness to upgrade so that the pattern would match better at a seam, requiring using more granite for a bit more money (it helps to let them know how strict your budget is). read more

I was afraid of this from the moment I contacted them. I should remember to always go with my instincts. My beautiful bathroom granite top is cracked all the way through after only a few months after installation. It was difficult getting anyone to come out in the first place to look at it. After multiple follow up phone calls and emails, I talked to the owner Gary and thought he sounded aggravated. Not a good sign. I'm the one that's paid good money for a faulty granite top. Like I said, every interaction with them left me feeling like I was going to get screwed. The repair guys finally came out and were very nice but admitted they only thing they could do was sand it down so I couldn't feel it. They said talk to Gary. That he might know of another way to fix it. I called and talked to Russel. I told him it was still cracked and what could they do? I said, I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to. Russell said he would relay the message to Gary. This was on Feb 7th. Nothing. No response. So I called them today. According to Russel, Gary said it's a fissure in the Granite and they can't do anything about it except the repair they already did. Oh no you don't. Are you kidding me? I said I spent good money and now they expect me to live with a cracked granite vanity? Not even an offer to refund some money. Nothing. Russel tried to take the blame and said it was just a miscommunication on his part and he would relay another message to Gary. We will see. But in the meantime I'm getting my paperwork together to file in small claims court. I'll post a follow up if they ever contact me again. But just from the interactions I've already had, I'm deeply dissatisfied. read more

I think that this place has a very good selection of products for kitchen and floor. I think there are better out there but they have a decent selection. That said: Relative to their ability to install it, however, our experience was horrendous and I would never go back or recommend them. We purchased a Silestone countertop for our kitchen counter and island. We contracted this job through Home Depot and the installer was Gary Davis, the owner of this company. The island was one solid piece and was done just fine. The countertop, however, was done by putting several small pieces of product together leaving 1/4 inch seams on either side of the sink. The three inch sections in front of and behind the sink were filled at the seam with some kind of colored grout like material that might have hidden the seam had it been expertly cut. It was not. Further the front edge of the counter, in front of the sink, was inadequately supported and wobbles to this day. We attempted to get these issues addressed both through home Depot and this contractor. After 5 tries in an attempt to fix this complaint with no offer to replace the product with a solid slab, we got disgusted and signed off just to be done with it. Buyer beware. read more

A friend recommended Davis Tile. I should have read the reviews first. We worked with a salesperson named Annie who, sadly, is no longer there. We wanted to remodel our master bath and enlarge the shower. Originally we only planned to add an accent around the outside. We placed an order for the accent tile, but then decided to do the floor as well, so we placed a second order. Somewhere along the way Annie left the second half of the order was never placed, even though we had paid for it in full. We had to wait several months for our tile man to be available. When he picked up the order only half was there. Having waited for months to get him we didn't have time to wait for a new order. We went to Lowe's and bought something else. They did credit us for the order that was never placed, but refused to take the first order back, even though we couldn't use it. The owner, Gary Davis is an arrogant jerk! I guess he considers us "small change" and not worth accomodating in the name of good customer relations. So please read the other reviews and beware before you buy anything from this place. read more

I would recommend looking elsewhere for granite. While they seem like a well run operation, their finished product was mediocre at best. More that a 3/8 inch off in length next to the stove leaving an extra gap that shouldn't need to be there. There was no attempt to match seams. When I asked about the measurement issue, they said they would send someone out to look, it never happened even after 2 other requests. There are may granite fabricators in kona, choose someone else, you'll be a lot happier. read more

I would not hire Davis Tile again. They did not keep promised installation dates. Davis three times moved the installation dates to dates it selected. As those dates neared, Davis cancelled. I found out about the cancellations because a day before the scheduled installations, I asked Davis to confirm. I assume that had I not asked them to confirm dates, they simply would not have shown up. Davis' inability to schedule installation caused other trades to be rescheduled at the last minute--no doubt disrupting their schedules as well. In the case of the electrician, Davis' chaotic scheduling resulted in an additional visit after the granite was installed to finish the electrical work. I have remodeled three kitchens and worked with many sub and general contractors, this was the worst. The quality of the installation when it finally occurred was mediocre. There were unsightly spaces between the cabinets and the granite backsplash and the faucet holes for the plumbing fixtures were not completely drilled through the counters. The plumbers finished drilling the fixture holes and I will hire a carpenter to hide the edges--its easier than dealing with Davis. There are many installers. When an installer is paid more than $6000 for granite installation, it should perform timely, communicate, and do an excellent job. If you hire Davis, you will get none of these. read more

I have worked with several local stone fabricators as a Project Manager on homes in the resorts and I am quite detail oriented! When it came time to do my own kitchen I selected Silestone quartz tops and Davis Tile and Marble is the local distributor for this product. We also purchased glass tile for the backsplash which I installed myself. Everyone at Davis was great to work with; Barbara in particular was knowledgeable and patient while we ordered tile samples to make our decision. Gary Davis makes all the measurements personally; he was able to lay the stone out with only one very small seam. The installers were very skilled and professional even with me watching over them. I had one minor concern (not regarding the stone) and Gary came out the next day to check on this to my satisfaction. Simply put I found the service, fabrication and installation to be impeccable. I continue to be impressed now that the kitchen is completed. read more

I should have known better! I had used Davis tile for a previous installation a few years ago and the finished product was barely acceptable. Well I recently went back to have my outdoor bbq granite done because I couldn't find a remnant and did not want to buy a whole slab. Stupid me it would have been worth the extra cost. The first time they came out to install the granite wasn't cut right so we rejected everything. The owner Gary called me difficult over the phone when we were discussing the problem. I'm sorry, but when you pay over 4,000.00 for a small bbq top you think it might be done right. My husband and I gave them a second chance to try again. They added a 1/2 inch piece under the bbq to fill in the previous cut area. Luckily the bbq just barely covers the seam. When finishing the install, a small piece on the back of the bbq, they broke it. Said they would be out the next day with a new one. Waited til 3 pm and called Davis Tile. They said sorry they weren't going to make it. They came out today and installed the piece. The seams are quite large, plus the ends are not level with the pieces on each end. They also got caulk all over my new stucco wall. I signed off on the work, because the caulk was starting to dry and I was trying to remove it, and I never want to deal with them again. I will never go back there again....they don't take ANY Pride in their workmanship. read more

I asked our contractor to also post a review, but he is a sweet guy and I think didn't want to criticize you in public in case it affected his business. He feels really bad about endorsing Davis Tile and will not be working with you again. When we told the tile guy who was installing marble in our bathrooms that we were working with you, the first thing he said was, 'Have you paid them already?', he was not surprised at the horrendous experience we were having. The owner came out and measured our kitchen counter and kitchen island and told us to stop by his business to pick out the material which we did in the very hot sun with my 85 year old mother. Talked with a very nice lady who was very helpful and knowledgeable who worked there who told us we would have an estimate the next week, never heard a word and never received an estimate. Called back a number of times and they kept assuring us they would send the estimate, its been over a month never heard a word. Very typical Hawaii contractor totally unreliable. read more

Davis Tile and Granite talked a good game, but CAN NOT deliver. They could not pin down a time on install and once they did, they showed up hours late- without calling. After the countertop was installed, the edging detail was not what I had purchased. The seams were not in the same locations as what I had signed for. The owner Gary, told me that I should have asked if there were any changes to the layout. The overhang on every counter edge was different. There was a 1/2" difference on the overhang on either side of my range. There were 2 seams in their layout and only one in the design that I signed for. The seams that they did were not consistent, one was very thin and the other was 1/8". They did not use a machine to pull the seams together. There was a lip on the counter top seam, the joint was not smooth. The gap in between my counters for my range measured 29 3/4", for a 30" range. It was not quality work. I regret using them and I would never recommend them to anyone. read more
