French Fries

We came for the atmosphere, and lets just say that's all there is. Everything you order will feel like all bun, even if you get a specialty dog with two hotdogs in one bun. The only redeeming quality is that the portion of fries is incredibly generous (and definitely to be shared) and they have a liquor license so you could grab a beer or a bad mixed drink to help it down. In case the photos are misleading, the dogs look/feel/taste like just a sabrett. Sorry to report these are the worst dogs we've had in NJ

First time in a long time, nothing about Davy's kept us away just life's circumstances. Hot Dog with chili and mustard was tasty. Massive order of fries could feed a party of four! Nice onion rings, too! Glad we made out way back today. The construction at exit 30 (Interstate 80) has been ongoing for years, no lie but the exit ramp is now open making Davy's accessable.

Best hot dog in town, and the owner is an absolute gem of a human. I will be here every time I drive by it for a HOT DAWG. Highly Recommend.

7/11/25: (Update) We were craving a hotdog after the Lake Hopatcong Boat Lunch Cruise. (The cruise will be on an upcoming review.) The outside of Davy's Dogs looks like an adorable old fashioned Swiss Chalet. Today, we ordered two hotdogs with mustard and Kraut. Hot dogs are always delicious here! Customer service is always very good! Of the many times we've been coming here, we finally met the friendly owner Davy. Davy's Dogs has other food besides hotdogs. They also serve beer and wine. Davy's Dogs is located right off of Route 80 in Mt. Arlington, NJ.

We stopped in for a quick breakfast. It's a cute small rustic spot with a small menu consisting of mostly specialty hot dogs and some sides. Our food took a little while but it was pretty crowded. we got 2 breakfast combos! My sunny side up eggs were to be expected and the home fries were deliciously crisp but lacking a little salt. The omelette wasn't anything great but decent for the price. We ordered a specialty dog bc we had to try one. We got the perogi dog and it was lack luster. The topping was good and the flavors went well together it just didn't have any love. It was on a kinda stale cold bun and it was a mighty skinny wiener with one perogi cut in half w/ sour cream and cheese for $4. The whole meal came to $35 (coffee and chocolate egg cream)

My review is a mix of 20 years ago and today. 20 years ago, I was an intern in Mount Arlington, and Davy's was right there. We often went out for lunch here and I loved it - the classic split dogs, toppings as desired, nice and cheap for an intern's budget. Today, I went back to look at it, and, well, nothing's changed except the prices. Nothing modernized, which I applaud, but it's difficult to find your way in (I ended up at the counter - in the past we went into the dining room, but I couldn't find that entrance) and now the board prominently advertises Sabrett hot dogs. For the price you pay here, I can bring home a 12-pack of Sabrett and make them myself. Sadly, the magic is gone, but I will live on with the 5 star memories of my intern days.

Have been seeing their sign on the way to and from the Poconos for many years. We stopped for gas and happened to see their building. Thought it was a chain but found out from the nice young lady at the drive-thru that this is the only location. Drive-thru menu font was pretty small to read. Picked pierogi bec was curious - but just a hotdog with pierogis and sour cream on top; and Volcano for the spice - it had perfect amount for me since I asked for no jalapeños - not bad for snacks at $3.85 each. Also cheese sticks. Decided to go inside to eat our order. A few tables and booths, lighting is a bit dim with the wood paneling, wood cabin feel which I didn't mind. Restroom available.

Volcano dog - Chili, Potatoes, Red Peppers, Jalapeños and Red hot.

Roadside hot dog stands are a big part of NJ food lore - Davy's puts its own style and stamp on this NJ tradition. With several "signature" dogs to choose from - there's a combination for just about every palate. If somehow you you can't find one that's right for you, simply choose what ingredients you want from the list and they'll gladly fix it up for you. For me the Volcano dog seemed like a good place to start - Chili, Potatoes, red peppers, Jalapeño and red hot. Great snap on the Sabretts hot dog - just the right amount of heat and the perfectly cooked potatoes had great texture and flavor - the 1st time I had potatoes "on" my hotdog but it won't be the last time. I decided to go with one of my all time favorite hot dog toppings for my 2nd dog - "Red Onions" and it was perfection in its simplicity. Shared a large basket of Fries with the table and really enjoyed those too. Great spot to grab a quick breakfast or lunch - I'll be back the next time I'm in the area.

Great food & cozy cabin like atmosphere. French fry serving is HUGE! It's basically a brown paper lunch bag filled up.

Inside, the dining area is spacious, and tastefully furnished with a nice warm fireplace in the room. The bar area has plenty of seats and TVs for sports fans. Our server Angela B. was so very pleasant, and attentive. She informed us about weekday events held at The Barn (trivia, bingo, vinyl night) and what sounded like a great Brunch Sat/Sun. We will be returning to experience some of them. We started with "Barnachos" ($18) containing a generous portion of pork (carnitas) and the usual nacho components. No pump cheese here though! Yay My wife had a lovely Greek salad ($19) with feta, grilled chicken, olives, onions, etc. I had a Meat Lovers pizza: pepperoni, sausage, cheese, sauce, peppers, onions, olives, etc ($22). The pizza was served piping hot. The portions were all generous and the food was delicious. We were too full for dessert! The menu really has something for everyone but everything on it has a special twist to it. Check out the menu at: https://thebarnkitchenandbar.com/menu/#view-page. The space looks great and the service was fast and very friendly. It was around 1 PM, so we stuck to lunch sandwiches, but can't wait to return for eggs sometime soon. We ordered a "Jane's", which was a chicken filet with pesto, special sauce, burrata, roasted red peppers and more. Very tasty and good proportions where the pesto didn't overwhelm the other flavors. We also ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with vodka sauce and mozzarella, which was also excellent. Looking forward to returning!

They do not skimp on it- lots of cheese, eggs, and ham on a large fresh round roll. Delicious! They are very quick on fulfilling orders. Much faster than Bill' Luncheonette so if you in a hurry then this place is a slam dunk. Ambiance- nice and clean inside. It is not so much an eat in place as it is a deli but it does have stools and a bar along the front to eat inside if preferred. More suited for take out orders. Definitely my #1 go to place for breakfast to go in the area! Try it and prove me wrong

We ordered guacamole... overpowered with lime & absolutely no salt or spice. Salsa was sweet. I ordered Fajitas obviously frozen chicken & overpowered lime flavor. I sent it back. Ordered the beef tacos, which were just as bad. Tasted like they opened a can of sloppy joes. I do have to give the manager & staff credit for trying to make my visit better.
