I had a trip in the area and called to see if they could watch my dog for a couple nights as the hotel didn't take dogs. Though I had a ton of paperwork to fill out, I didn't have to come in for a dog evaluation, which was key. Everyone was super helpful over the phone, the online form process was easy, and my dog was happy when I came to get her. Great place to let your dog play while you are at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca! They took my two pups last minute when I was in town for the Grand Am weekend. This place is nice - We had our first experience this weekend and our fur-kid came home nice and tired. It is a bit on the pricey side, but I expect that for the area. On the other hand, all of the costs are explicitly spelled out, so there are no surprises, so you will know exactly what to expect when you come to pick up your pooch. They have supervised play in the day care and that is a nice touch! It is harder to find a place that will allow your dog to play with other dogs, and that is important to us. They separate big dogs from small dogs, so you don't need to worry about your smaller breeds getting stepped on. They have 39 suites for the pooches to spend the night in and they are all very clean. They don't have an outside area for the dogs to potty, unless you pay extra to have them walked. However, they do have "potty rooms," where they can do their business. This is not my preference, but they are extremely clean and they have a little grass pad inside so as not to "un-train" your dog. Everyone seems to really love dogs on the staff and that is extremely important to me. I want to make sure they will take care of my fur-kid as I would. We will definitely be back. The only thing that keeps me from giving it five stars is that there is no separate outdoor area for the dogs. My favorite boarding place had a doggy door where she could go outside and potty. That is the standard I have to rate all other future kennels but this place definitely met all of our tough standards. Thanks for taking such great care of our little monster! read more

Everything is indoors at this location. Lobby is clean and front desk staff was friendly. We asked for a tour of the place and were taken to the hallway behind the front office. We could look into the two rooms they had; one for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs. The dog playrooms looked clean. The hallway did however smell like urine. That was kind of gross. Looked clean - but didn't smell clean. Our dog apparently began to limp after we dropped her off. The girl at the front desk called us to let us know and to see if we knew anything about it. I told he we hadn't noticed her limping and asked if she could check to see if there was something stuck in her paw. She said she would check and if she appeared to be babying the paw/limping she would put her in a suite for the day if I preferred. When we picked her up the girl at the front let us know that they had put her in a suite because of her paw. When she was brought out she seemed fine. Not sure what had happened to make her limp earlier that day. We really appreciated that the staff was attentive to her needs. It was nice to know they keep an eye out for possible problems and call you promptly if they notice anything out of the ordinary. I would bring our dog back if we were in the area again and needed daycare. read more

Dawg Gone It saved our tails today! We had planned to leave our pup in the hotel while we visited the aquarium that just reopened. The second we stepped out of the room, we realized that wasn't going to work because of her barking/whining. I guess we didn't realize that being home with her everyday during COVID would cause some separation anxiety. We called Dawg Gone It on a whim and they were so helpful. They took down our info, quickly called our vet to get her shot records and sent us an email with paperwork. We pulled up and were greeted with a friendly face and they were ready for her. Because she's wary of other dogs, she got her own suite with a bed and water. They took her out to use the restroom and gave her extra love. Overall it was a wonderful experience! When we picked her up she was excited to see us and had been well taken care of. I highly recommend Dawg Gone It for your pet care needs. We couldn't have had a better experience! read more

After interviewing "Fur Child" sitters to stay with our sweet five year old golden retriever for a over night we came to the conclusion that we were not happy with anyone. So I decided to go on YELP and found the BEST FUR CHILD camp ever!!!! From the minute we walked in we felt this was the place!!!! Daisy Rose has the best time there! The stuff were amazing and caring! We highly recommend this place. Daisy Rose has stayed there a few times now and once she senses were we are she is so excited to be there!!! I took my dog Chloe Rose to daycare today. Everyone was so nice Sammy at the front desk answered all my questions & concerns. She was very friendly and competent. The place is very clean and well organized. And the staff were all so kind and attentive to Chloe Rose on her first day. I do not have kids so my little dog is my baby and I feel very confident leaving her in loving , caring hands. Sooooo glad I found this place! read more

What can I say? My boxers Spunky and Coco LOVE Dawg Gone It! So I do too. The staff is friendly, helpful, and patient. The owner Wayne is professional and seems to love his job, and always remembers my dogs' names when I bring them in. The staff here is very accommodating with emergency situations. My husband was extremely and unexpectedly sick one day, and I had to take the pups for a day of daycare without any prior appointment. When I explained the situation to Dawg Gone It staff, they were able to take my dogs for the day and alleviate the situation. They also have fair pricing and offer a military discount, a huge plus to military families in the area. My spouse has attended NPS during our stay here in Monterey, so finding Dawg Gone It has been very helpful to our work and travel plans. The only recommendation I have for the daycare center is to market themselves more within the military community. I only found out about them when our old boarding place closed down, and I wish I knew about them earlier. read more

My dog, Brady absolutely loves coming to this place for doggie day care as well as boarding. He is highly anxious and doesn't like going places or meeting people. But as soon as I tell him, we are heading to DawgGoneIt, he becomes super excited and puts on his best behavior. Wayne, the owner & his staff are super nice, friendly and caring. This place is absolutely fantastic for my pup! I bring my dog, Buddha, here about 2-3 days a week for doggie daycare. I love knowing that he is well taken care of while my boyfriend and I are at work, and he is able to get all the exercise he needs while we are gone. By the time we get home he is pooped! I have used their boarding services for my dog now twice and they have been wonderful. They have exceeded expectations every time. The first time I brought by dog in they let her stay in doggie day-care with out charging me extra while she was being boarded. They have also been great with reservations, very flexible and not over charging me when I needed to pick my dog up a day early or extend her stay. Overall it is a little pricey for the places in the area, but well worth it, clean and professional. As a side note just to give an example of how they go over the top each time they always wash/wipe-down your dog before pick-up a nice touch that most other places wouldn't think of doing, or if they do they charge for it. read more

Great find! Love this place. We have a little 4 mo. old frenchie puppy who has just gotten old enough to be socialized. As he is still a typical little puppy who is very active, chews everything and loves to play, I do not want to leave him alone in the house. I often need to go places I cannot take him. This is the perfect place. Not only is it important for him to be socialized with other dogs and get used to being left, I feel totally comfortable that he is being loved and well cared for while I'm gone. Our puppy gets so excited when he sees us pull up into the parking lot, and I feel great knowing he is being treated well. Wayne has done a tremendous job building this thriving business and filled a need in the Monterey area. The concept is unique and innovative. It is obvious from how he has established and runs his business that he is truly passionate about his job and love for dogs. I love the set up and the personal attention given. Traveling with your pet could be ruff sometimes.. The one thing I knew for sure was that I wanted to bring Kuma on every adventure I went on. We decided on Monterey/Carmel for a little getaway for the weekend. Obviously there were some things that we couldn't do with Kuma (i.e: restaurants, the aquarium, wharf, etc). This is where Dawg Gone It comes in! [Ambience] My first impression of the shop was that it was super clean. They also advertise aromatherapy for dogs, which was pretty apparent - it smelled like a massage parlor! [Service] Before we even booked our trip, I gave Dawg Gone It a call to see if they would be able to take in my 6 month old Chow Chow Kuma. The lady that picked up my call informed me that we had to fill out the owner/pet profile on their website before anything, so just a note, do not just drop in on them! They use your pet/owner profile to assess if your pup will be a good fit. Upon entering, we were greeted by friendly workers. Super sad I didn't get the name of the lady who helped us, but she was super nice! I especially appreciated the fact that she didn't force herself onto Kuma like most people do (it terrifies him when people come on to him too strong). Just by this interaction, I knew I was leaving him in good hands. She then took Kuma to the back to see how he would do with the other dogs for a quick, 5 minute assessment. She then brought him back out, told us about their procedures - group play times, walks, breaks, and then ultimately decided that it would be okay for him to stay. When picking him up, they had given us a run down on his day. He behaved super well, and was friendly, especially to the staff! Apparently he wasn't too interested in the other dogs, so the staff made sure to give him extra attention! I could tell they spent a lot of time with him because he was so tired the rest of the night. [Worth it???] If you're going to bring your pet to Monterey, definitely consider dropping them off at Dawg Gone It. We paid $18 for Kuma to stay for about 4.5 hours, and once we got to our hotel, all he did was sleep! Glad Kuma was able to have some time away with us and still have a great time. The staff knows what they are doing and everyone I have met has made me feel good about leaving my babies there. We bring our Cockapoo here once a week when we know we will be working long hours and dont want to leave him in his kennel all day. The best sign I have that Dawg Gone It are good people is that our dog is very excited to go every time we take him. We hardly get a second look or tail wag anymore as he runs to play with the other pups. Of course at the end of the day the dogs all have the internal clock to know its time to go home and he is always excited to see us. We have also kenneled him here over the weekend and everything seemed excellent. We purchased the military package so he has extra play time during overnight stays. We also tried the 6 day daycare package, but found out the package only lasts 30 days. So if your like us and only bring your dog once a week your going to end up not using a couple days. I talked to the owner and he made it right, but I would be wary of purchasing that particular package again. read more

I used this place when I was visiting my bf down in Monterey & between us we would have had 3 dogs between us & 2 cats... it just wasn't going to happen as my dog looks at cats & most likely thinks "hmm dinner." Anyways we barely gave them a heads up, but they were so nice and very accommodating with Suggie. I dropped my baby off about 3 PM Thursday & she called us back to let us know that the temperament test went fine & that Suggie was put into daycare. Reasonably priced too. I picked up my dog mid-Saturday & it cost about $90. They fed her for free as I forgot to bring food. Only small thing was my dog is really sensitive to any changes to her diet and had a little bit of runny poo when I picked her up, but that was my fault for forgetting her food. I began taking my dog to this facility about 2 years ago, I then encouraged my sister to also take her dog there as well for overnight boarding, puppy play ect when we were out of town traveling. So after a 2 YEAR history, without one single complaint... we take our dog in for the New Year's holiday as we are out of the country on vacation. I get a call from staff mid trip asking for my dog to picked up immediately and taken to the emergency vet Blue Pearl (due to another dog scratching his eye). I am not sent any photos or back up of any kind, however I take their word for it and have a family member take him in. Over $300 later, I am told there is no scratch to his eye, it is a very mild case of cherry eye. No emergency whatsoever. Once my dog returns to the facility, he is given medication to treat the cherry eye while we are away. Their staff then decides it would be a good idea to try and administer eye medication while my dog is being fed his meal. My dog snaps at the staff member and is sent home without any news of this incident. I then call in follow up once I return home from our trip to find, I was lied to about the eye incident all together, that the owners WERE NOT present when the eye issue occurred, and it was an assumption made on their part. When communicating an issue, owners deserve facts not assumptions as that assumption cost us $300. In addition, I have concerns about the cleanliness of the facility due to the fact my sister's dog on a previous stay also experienced cherry eye while in their care that resulted in surgery. Finally as a business owner myself when there is an issue PICK UP THE PHONE! Do not wait for the customer, me to call and seek out information. Like a coward, I had to call and find out due to my dog snapping at the tech who tried to give meds while eating (which I do not condone any dog snapping at any time including my own) that we are no longer welcome to come back. Even though nothing was said to us at pick up. These is no leader/manager on site clearly during holiday weekends so ensure if you are leaving your dog for a vacation, you are comfortable with young, unexperienced kids giving best guesses as opposed to facts. Would not trust this place ever again. We do not want to go back, and we do not want to send our pets anywhere that doesn't have eyes on puppy play areas, as dogs can be easily hurt/injured due to lack of paying attention. read more

I reall can't say enough great things about Wayne, Allie, Jackie, and the entire Dawg Gone It team. Or English Setter Garwood was a daycare regular and was always excited to go, and would leave with his tail wagging. We felt that Everyone at Dawgn Gone It truly cared about our boy and always gave him the absolute best care. We left Garwood there on an overnighter and it was also a really great experience. Left our german shepherd puppy here to play while we went to aquarium. Walked through the facility and really liked the setup and the staff. Our dog played so hard that her feet were sore the next day and she was content to relax in the shade. We did this last minute and were surprised they were open on July 4th. My pup loves this place. The only issue we ever had was when we picked up our dog after an extended stay and had to take him to the pet hospital due to stomach and diarrhea issues that wouldn't subside. Did receive an apology from the business and my pup is a great health now but never did find out what happened. read more

We're getting to know a lot of doggie daycares. We took our puppy to Dawg Gone It while visiting Monterey. We stopped by another daycare in the area to check it out before visiting Dawg Gone It and the difference was amazing. Our Izzy was welcomed at DGI as if she was the cutest dog they ever saw (which is exactly the reaction we like :) We left Izzy there for the afternoon and I don't think she wanted to leave when we arrived to pick her up. My husband picked up our dog after 4 hours. She was wet, smelled like pee, very nervous, anxious, and would hardly let me pet her all day. This is a good place to leave your pup if you want to make sure they can socialize and be in the care of people that are kind to dogs. I took my dog here for a week of daycare and she became attached to one of the care takers there. They are friendly to talk to if you have any questions about services or how your dog is doing. I used the facility four times. Seemed great especially that they required proof of vaccinations. But two weeks ago, after having my pup stay the weekend, he came home with a cough...yep, bordatella. So after a trip to the vet, ( after I was up all night with him) and a $144. vet bill, I gave them a call. Turns out, they do not require a current bordatella vaccine to board your dog. It is such a contagious virus, that I had to carry my dog through the vet's reception area, so his paws would not touch a surface. So, now he is quarantined at home. Sorry, I felt a false sense of security boarding him. The fact that he had a cough when I picked him up, and they didn't notify me or my vet frustrates me. Won't go back. read more

My husband, Henny and I want to thank the Dawg Gone It staff for their care of Henny -- our redbone coonhoud-- last Saturday night. Everything was fantastic and we will be bringing her back everytime we are in Monterey (it may even be worth bring her down from Santa Cruz if we go away for a long trip). I have already been talking Dawg Gone It up to all the dog owners I know about how wonderful her stay was. Henny came back nice and tired (so we know she had lots of play time). Not the best place for daycare. I have a dog with separation anxiety and couldn't leave him at home anymore and this place was close to work. No outdoor area and it's very noisy, lots of dogs in a low ceiling space and little natural light. He hated it and got even more neurotic behaviors during the day there as the people who work there have me a report when I picked him up. It's also pricey. My dog got fleas and they applied medication of some sort without telling me beforehand or asking permission. No bueno. I stopped taking him there and would not recommend it. read more

Facilities were clean, no smells when you walk through the door. I had the opportunity to work with four different people at different points in time (initial call to ask about the place, visit/registration/temperament test, drop off and pickup) and each person was friendly and helpful. Prices were fair relative to others I checked in the area, and spelled out clearly, no surprises about cost. Shots were validated quickly with my vet over the phone while I waited. A quick temperament test and the boys were good to go. Along with play time they got quiet time and a peanut butter kong. I spied on them at pickup time and they were trotting around with the other pooches like they were regulars. All-in-all a good experience and I would use them again the next time I'm in the area. read more

PROS: - My fur baby is just that, my baby. This establishment treats your pup like family. My job had me on the road at least one week out of every month, so I utilized their services several times (often for 7-10 days at once). - Prices: Overnight lodging starts at $26 per night, but I did the Silver Activity Package every time (this costs extra, but means your dog gets extra play time, pampering, and a treat or walk). Amazing cost (for comparison, since moving I now pay $40 per night for comparable treatment). - Awesome staff: Wayne Ragen (owner of Dawg Gone It) and staff are wonderful. I completely trusted them with my girl, and knew that she was in great hands. If my little one was scared, they let her cuddle with them at the front desk (no extra charge). If she was too overwhelmed in play time, they spent one-on-one time with her on a walk or in her suite. When choosing her "extras" at the beginning of every stay I was confident saying "Please choose based on how she's acting that day." - Accommodations: Dogs have suites - full rooms with doors (blocked on the bottom so dogs don't bark at one another, but clear on top so that staff can easily check in). Two play rooms (one for big dogs and one for the little ones), completely enclosed so there is no chance of getting loose in town. Walks take place outside (and Dawg Gone It is in a nice neighborhood). - Most importantly: My dog was never scared to go through the door at Dawg Gone It. Additionally, she was never panicked to leave when I picked her up. My little one is definitely a homebody who resists change, so this behavior told me she was comfortable there. CONS: - None. Seriously, ZERO cons. NOTES: - Say hi to Big (the Dawg Gone It mascot, and Wayne's fur baby). - Dawg Gone It has the usual requirements for its guests - up-to-date on vaccines, good behavior and social skills, etc. read more

We were up camping in Monterey with our dogs and wanted an afternoon to do the aquarium and get lunch by ourselves! We have 3 dogs all at different levels of temperament. We found Dawg Gone It and stopped in and talked to Stephanie about our dogs and what our concerns were with leaving them (one of our dogs can be reactive.) She was very easy to talk to and when we brought the dogs in she was very calm with them and our guy who can get scared went right in the back with her! When we picked them up later that afternoon we were told everything went well and all 3 of them looked rested and ready to keep going on their camping adventure! Thank you so much Dawg Gone It for giving us an afternoon free to explore and we hope to stop in again on our next trip up there! I will say they are a bit hard to find if you come in the back way...pretty much if you hit the 7-11 on Ramona Ave you've gone too far...go back 1 building and they are in the back! read more
