Knew Charli prior she bathed Thor groomed Max then Daisy. Followed her to GBTB referred MANY clients. Our pups passed. Assured us when had another pup she'd take us back. Initially did, got lab, had to re-home, (I'm disabled), he still goes to GBTB. Just got rescue from Cottage, 5yr 11pd very mellow. Called 4 appt said NO. Reasons - short staff, back is bad 4 grooming (sorry to hear), Never promised to take back except for bath (don't remember this was only option)!Booking 8 wks out, didn't offer wait list. ALWAYS treated her/staff with respect (reflected in gratuity & reviews on Insta) Never reprimanded. Hurt & Saddened they don't want our business. Never had a neg word about them just appreciation. Our 8-lb chihuahua-terrier mix gets so frantic when we try to trim her nails that we wondered if they would ever be trimmed again. The kind folks at Grooms by the Bay cheerfully accepted the challenge on a walk-in visit. They were gentle, quick and efficient. Our dog didn't make it easy but the job got done. We will definitely be back on a monthly basis. The owners encouraged us to bring her back between trimmings for a treat so there are some more pleasant associations with their shop. My dog can be difficult. Charlie is great with him. I like that she gives him a great cut that didn't take a long time.

My mini-schnauzer, Reggie, just got the most expensive, and the ugliest, cut of his eleven years. We had one previous cut here and it wasn't great, but it wasn't the worst either. We are mortified!! Congratulations Grooms by the Bay, not only did we pay nearly you $100 for a cut that looks like something from "Isle of Dogs", but you had a snobby attitude as well, and I never even mentioned how badly you butchered the cut! I just had a very negative experience picking up my senior dog . I'm still a bit rocked. My poodle mix rescue senior dog has been going to Grooms by the Bay for awhile now. I like his groomer; she's kind and very good with him. It was past time i generally get the 15 min warning call, so I called to check in. I had forgotten my phone and had to leave my husband's number so I wondered if maybe there had been confusion. When I did get a call, my dog was ready and luckily I was sitting in my car across the street. He's usual thirsty and ready to go. I mentioned I didn't get a call to the young woman owner. She said they were pretty busy. I said ok, I wasn't angry, wasn't concerned or expressing any displeasure. I've never been unkind, said a rude word to anyone there. I was immediately barraged with a number of things I apparently do such as once I came 15 min early ( that was before I knew you couldn't wait inside) , and that I apparently rush her groomers somehow. She then informed me they keep a comment log on the computer. Okay. So make sure you walk in the door exactly on the time allowed and not 1 min earlier or later, I guess. I'm a 70 year old woman with a senior dog being literally attacked by a young woman over what I would consider small things. She told me 3 times I would be happier with a mobile groomer. I didn't know I was unhappy. I told her I felt like she went from 0-100 and I wish I had been notified I was doing something wrong. I would have appreciated being told in a polite fashion instead of berated rudely. I apologized for having not followed her rules (however unintentional. ) Never in my life has this happened to me before. The young woman handled the situation rudely and without compassion, understanding, or even good listening skills because nothing I said mattered. It was shocking to me to be berated like that. Having worked with people for 34 years in my job, I can say that's not the best way to handle other human beings. I wish her the best of luck in her business. I won't be returning which no doubt was her intent for whatever reason. Life's too short. 10/13/2022 I'm updating one last time because there are so many lies in that response. Examples: I never yelled. Ever. Not once. I don't do that. And the 2 groomers and a woman dropping off her dog know it. In fact, it was so upsetting to me, I had tears in my eyes even believing that I was being spoken to like that. I park my car close to business because my habit is to go to Patels bakery and then meet a friend for lunch or lunch with my husband who often dropped our dog off with me and walk around town. Excuse me for parking near the business. And nice to make it sounds as if I was a "business stalker" . Most people don't try to park a mile away. Ridiculous. I never called twice in a row let alone the number of times you are making it sound. My dog was not the mess you have made him out to be. The only time someone mentioned another grooming in between the normal 7 or 8 weeks was to use a conditioner between grooms. And why did I not leave a positive review? This was my first time using Yelp. But I do have several friends who take their dogs and I was pleased when it opened and it seemed to be a women owned business. There are not enough groomers on the peninsula. I'm appalled at the way my very balanced report of my experience was accepted. You can tell the character of people by they respond to every negative experience reviewed by someone. They argue and misrepresent. Most businesses at least are polite enough to respond with " sorry this didn't work out", but these people attack. Also nice. read more

To Charli who responded to my review. You obviously had mistaken my situation with another customer. Almost everything you said did not fit my situation, except that my puppy had some mats. Everything else never happened. 1. I did not call around because I had a difficult dog to groom. I only needed to find a Groomer that could do it on that day. I chose Grooms by the Bay because of the reviews and location. 2. I did not lie about anything. 3. I did not argue with anyone. 4. My sweet puppy does not bite. 5. He does not have fleas. I had politely taken their recommendation and brought him to the Vet. The Vet advised me that it was not necessary to bring him there. And that a regular Groomer will be able to easily groom him. I was fine with your suggestion until the Vet made me aware that any decent Groomer could easily groom him. Again, wrong case. Or your staff made up the story to make themselves look good and make me look bad. Either way, your comments were false. A good businessman would try to make it right for their customers instead of attacking them. That is a sign of poor business practices. I think you should focus on training the staff instead of attacking your customers. I was Just sharing my experience. read more
