A family business. Real people. The hours are short, Friday through Sunday only, but maybe that is good. Maybe it keeps the place human. I brought in my mother's watch. Not a treasure by market standards, but worth more than Fort Knox to her because a friend gave it to her when she retired. Steve met me at the counter. He held the watch the way a priest holds a chalice and treated it as though it were a Patek Philippe. In five minutes he replaced the battery, polished away years of tarnish, and handed it back to me. It looked reborn. The bill was six dollars. Less than a cheeseburger. Meanwhile, I looked in the cases. Not just the cookie cutter trinkets that line the malls, but old pieces with personality, antiques, oddities, jewelry with ghosts in them. This is a store where people still know your name, and you know theirs. That used to be normal in America. Now it feels like a miracle. Support it. Places like this are how civilization hangs on.

One of the rings was an Opal in a heavy gold band. The jewelry store owner prepared a receipt and I neglected to review the receipt when it was handed to me at the store. When I went back to the jewelry store to retrieve the repaired items the jewelry store owner did not return the Opal ring in a heavy gold band. When I asked for the Opal ring in a heavy gold band he said "what Opal" and showed me a copy of the receipt with only four items listed on it and the receipt lacked a listing for the Opal ring. The jewelry store owner further stated that "I don't remember an Opal ring". A female clerk in the store said "we are going to look all over for your Opal". When I asked jewelry store owner what are you going to do if you can't find my Opal he said "nothing", he was also very arrogant and did not express any concern for the loss of my Opal ring. Since then I've called multiple times and each time they stated they could not find my Opal ring. My girl friend was with me when I left the five items for repair and I wish I had not neglected to carefully review the receipt before I left the store. I'm not sure why the jewelry store owner did not list the Opal ring on my receipt and I'm not sure what his motivation was to not list the Opal ring on the receipt but I'm sure his motivation was not in my best interest for him to not list it on the receipt. To date I still have not been able to retrieve my Opal ring from Pave' Goldsmith & Diamonds. I just want people to be aware of what happened to me and if they do go there for service to be sure to carefully review their receipt before leaving the store.

They came highly recommended from another local business owner and so we gave it a go. The owners are brothers and are BOTH extremely personable and VERY professional! They have been around since 1981 apparently and it is very easy to see why. It seems that a few of the family members work together there, and they are all just as helpful and friendly. My wife had lots of questions about diamonds and Paul did his best to make us appreciate all aspects of buying a diamond, all the while being EXTREMELY patient with us! Buying an expenisve piece of jewelery is not easy and we had to go away several times just to make sure the money was well spent. All along, Paul was again very patient and was able to keep the rings that were in 'the mix' for her, set aside out of the case until we decided on which one. Needless to say my husband returned the earrings for a full refund but not before Franny argued with him and hassled him (even though the earrings were returned within the mandatory 7 day return period) I wouldn't keep them because my homeowners insurance company wouldn't insure them for what we paid they'd only insure them for their TRUE value and I didn't want to be ripped off. ANY jeweler worth their salt will guarantee that the jewelry they sell you will appraise for the amount paid. My daughter had a candy in her hand, the woman walked over to us immediately and took her candy and made her wash her hands (didn't give her back the wrapped candy after either) they made us try on dresses with the door ajar (she's a 7 year old girl this should not be policy), they rushed and made what should've been a beautiful shopping experience into an uncomfortable one. They must've felt my distaste as the one sales associate left and the other one, much nicer, came over to help us. Although they watched my every move and followed me around the store as if I'd actually steal something. Very uncomfortable. I wanted to try on different sized dresses because the under $150 sizes were limited, they took the dress I pulled out and out back on the rack and told me it wouldn't fit her, basically not allowing her to try it on. The store also smelled like mold. Very overpriced items. However their selection of dresses and unique items were nice. I see many nice reviews so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was me or maybe an off day for them. And to top it all off the slap in the face that my ring came from Amazon marked up to high heavens.
